Went for a walk tonight. I did 3.67 miles in 60 minutes. Helps if you are angry at the hubby. Gives you a little extra oomph in your step. LOL!!!

Hi team - it does seem like a Friday to me too! Went swimming w/ kids today, nice day for it. Tomorrow I leave for my weekend trip w/ my gal pals I have been friends w/ since 1st grade - 40 years! We grew up together in the same little town in MI. One lives in NYC, and the rest are still in MI in one place or another. We get together 1 or 2 times a year. This year is our hometown at one girl's brother's lake cottage. I can't wait! I had hoped to be thinner (who doesn't?), but oh well. These girls have seen me at my best and worst, so it doesn't matter. I feel good and know I am on the right track this time. All these girls are pretty health conscious, so I don't think we will even have stuff around that will tempt me. And I am not much of a drinker (anymore), so I should be able to stay on track this weekend. I will be MIA from SP for the weekend but will check in Monday. Have a good one!

Sharon - that article on carbs was enlightening and confusing at the same time. I get the general gist of it, though. I printed out the list and will definitely keep it in mind when making food choices. Thanks for the tip!

Good Morning to all you 40 somethings,

There is still a chill in the air, but we have the sun whahoo:)

Work is busy today - but thats good it keeps me from snacking. Usually days like today someone pops their head in my office and says its lunch time, so the time passes without me knowing and without me snacking.

Great evening to myself last night - son working nights and the girls were out with their friends - got in 80 minutes of exercise and treadmill, read a little and then off to lala land.

Out to a friends for supper tonight - I will do portion control affirmations today.

Anyway, have a great day everyone.

Cyndi .. I so agree, exercise is my saving grace, I feel so much better afterward. When I feel like I might skip it I just remember that great energizing feeling and go for it!! Try have a little protein an hour or so before your work out, that might help your hungries too.

Sharon.. be your own ray of sunshine... maybe some of it will rub off on your co-worker... or may she'll get burned. (teehee!) Great carb article!
Good luck!

Good morning everyone!

Trying to get up earlier everyday... reality is screaming back at me. Mon, Tues, Wed, I'm at a class at school, it will be good to see everyone but... our secretary always has out chocolates, donuts, snacks all over the tables. My plan is to take my trusty almonds, grapes and little protein bars. If I'm really feeling it I will allow one, but ONLY one small chocolate, but I have to say my cravings for sweets have really diminished.

Yesterday my hubby and I went on a raft float with a group on the river in town, nice and mellow... but at the end was an incredible buffet dinner, ribs, pulled pork, salmon, shrimp... all my favorites, I must admit to over indulging and had 1/2 beer on top of it. I didn't finish my plate and stayed away from the dessert table, but it was still not good. It showed at the weigh in this morning.. I stayed the same. With the wedding last weekend on top of it I suppose it could have been a lot worse. Missing those work outs didn't help either. I have lost every week until now, so I will just get back on track and start anew!! I will do this.. I will get Healthy!!!

I will Ditto Denise's reply to everyone, But Denise, take some deep breaths and time for yourself. I'm worried about you. :0) Being prepared does make a difference. I will have to try the turkey Burgers.

Val.. so glad your arm is healing it's no fun being in pain.

Going to Costco today, they have Salmon Burgers that are great, a mixture of pollack and Salmon, great fried up with a little terryaki sauce.

Let's do this!! Off to they gym!
Here's to Health,

Good Morning Everyone!

I went to tkd last night and feel so much better, even with little sleep, I felt better for having gone. That pup is hilarious, he is not afraid of the bigger dogs in the least. I think they can tell he is just a baby and they are not as rough with him as they are each other.

I definitely think the key for me is exercise. I always feel so much better when I get it in and I just love tkd, learning to defend myself, throwing people to the ground, getting thrown myself, its a great, equalizer/equilberium, I'm not sure I am getting the right word to describe how I'm feeling. I've come so far from where I was a year ago as far as tkd goes, and when I get frustrated, they are all so helpful and encouraging.

I hope all of you have a great day. I will try to sneak something before tkd and see if that doesn't work. Last night, I did not get anything to eat till about 9:30. I forgot how much work a puppy is, it's like having a crawling baby in the house, into everything, grab something and run in the opposite direction. hahaha I'll check back later. Thank you all for your support here yesterday!

TGIF...Oops, It is only Thursday...DARN!

It is going to be a very quite and slow day in the office, the crews and supervisors are all out on a big fiber job, so it is just me and my very happy, positive co-worker (NOT). I'm already in my tune her out mode!

Anyway, Hope everyone is having a wonderful start to your day. Drove in this morning with the windows down, it was nice to have some fresh air...we will be in level orange alert by lunch.

Here is a link to an article about Carbs. You may have already read it, but it is good basic information.

Val: I think men just have faster Metabo's than women. My husband has only fluxed 10 lbs in 25 years, it is disgusting! lol

Cyndi: How is did the new puppy do yesterday? Hope he didn't chew anything up! I think God made puppies so cute so we couldn't get mad at them for doing things like eating things.

Mama: I do the same thing, with my carbs - NOT my scale...lol(that is too funny)...I shoot for the low end of my carbs & fat and the higher end of my Protein...especially on days I work out extra heavy.

Neraus: I hope to share in your shopping joy! I'm going shopping this weekend and can't wait to by-pass Lane Bryant!

Kellianne: Glad your day got better...Hope today is even better.

Toni: Have a great time at the Blue-grass Festival. Try to relax and just enjoy!

Denise: You get as excited about the Football Stadium as I did when they were building the Speedway over here. Isn't it great to live next to something we enjoy so much!

Ok, I have got to kick my exercise up a couple of notches today and I'm going to force my butt out of bed at 4:30am tomorrow. Trying to get in my weekly minutes before I leave town tomorrow afternoon. Will be doing lots of walking over the weekend, but not cardio style.

So, lets all end the week on a high note and Go, Goo, Gooo!

GM Team,

I am dragging this morning. Went to sleep at 9:30 and I was still awake at 10:45. Very restless. I’m stressing out and my mind is swirling with things I must accomplish in the next. My heart was racing too and I just couldn't get to sleep. Work is busy but next week will be worse.

My company also participates in the American Heart Assoc, fundraising and I'm on the committee of my department team. First luncheon with Tx Land & Cattle next Friday. Lots of flyers and advertising to complete and have ready. Still don’t have confirmation about menu. Also doing a 'go to jail' for charity on the same day so warrants, wanted signs need to be done.

I want to scream. The one thing I don't want to do mainly because I don't have any free time is EAT. If it weren’t for those planned, precook meals I would be in trouble.

I rode just 5.5 miles yesterday. Hopefully we’ll have more time this afternoon to get a longer ride.

Sharon – I love visiting SA. So much to do and fun to have. Enjoy!

Ingrid – Turkey burgers are one of my favorites. Have a great vac at the cottage.

Val – 2 weeks will fly by and then your hand will be even better.

Neraus – Yeah for shopping in the normal size section and getting new Capri’s.

Toni – Enjoy the blues festival and the time with your dear family. Sorry for your loss.

Hey guys, if you find that magic wand, I could really use it too.

Hang in there everyone.

Denise

Good Morning!

Mama- I love my mornings! I get so much done in the early morning hours. No one to bother me. I like getting in my workouts in the morning as well. Gives me the energy I need for the day, most of the time.

Denise- Thanks! I never really thought about it.. but them football stadiums are huge! How great that they are opening the doors for all to see.

Cyndi- We are a sucker for dogs as well. Cats too.. but more dogs. How great that you are able to take it in.

Sharon - Thanks! I hope that is all it is.

Janice- Thank You! I love your attitude!

ItsThyme- Thanks I will try that.

Ingrid- I prefer the turkey burgers over beef. Infact I use ground turkey instead of beef now as well.

Bal- glad to hear the brace will be coming off soon.

Kellianne- glad to hear things are getting better.

The weekend is almost here again... this weekend is hubbys birthday.. will be going to a blue grass festival saturday and ex-sister in laws funeral sunday. Next weekend we are going to Monterey.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Toni

Hey all! Thanks so much for the encouragement. I truly have to say that as crazy as yesterday was, I was indeed blessed. Two days earlier I had a melt down when just a few things were going wrong. Yesterday, everything seemed to go wrong, but I kept a much better attitude and was actually laughing by the end of the day.

Today was a much better day. New tire on the car (part of yesterday's fiasco), new battery in the car (also part of the fiasco), took DD to beach so she could try out new boogie board, DS spent day with a friend (I didn't have to listen to two kids arguing all day long...Yippee!), got some work done, and had a great evening at Youth Group. Not as much exercise today, but I think I'll survive.

Wishing you all a good night and a Sparked day tomorrow!

Hey everybody I hope everyone is having a good day. Very hot and humid here. Makes it hard to get out and exercise. I did do a little shopping and bought a new pair of capri's. Nice to be able to buy clothes from the "normal" section of the store. LOL!!!

Since I posted so early today I felt like I had to get another fix before the day is over. I dropped my daughter off at a b-day sleepover, so I am taking my younger son to see Harry Potter movie and my hubs is taking our older son to play golf or tennis (they aren't into the HP thing).

MYO and Cyndi-Carbs are tricky. Atkins is too restrictive, but I think the carbs allowed here are too high for me as well. I shoot for the low end, or just below, on carbs and the high end for protein. The trick is to get some good carbs! I try to eat my carbs mostly during breakfast and lunch, minimal at dinner. That really helps w/ weigh ins. I don't eat past 7:30 as a rule, of course I occasionally make exceptions! It's hard if you work late or have something else going on that limits your dinner-time. Can you sneak something in before your tkd class? Cereal is a good snack, but lots of carbs! There are some cereals out there that are higher in protein and fiber. Special K Protein+ is a good one and I also like Kashi Go-Lean Crunch.

I had to have my hubby hide the scale on my off days. I weigh in on Fridays usually. Then I have him take it away Friday when he gets home from work. Out of sight, out of mind is the theory. But I still get an itchin' to weigh.

Cyndi - how nice of you to adopt the stray puppy. I am a sucker for cats! You only (only!) have to lose 1 lb. a week to make your goal. That's a caloric deficit of 3500 calories a week through both increased activity and reduced intake. YOU CAN DO IT!

Its - welcome!

Stay positive!

I so love this site. I do not feel so alone anymore, seems like everyone is feeling the same. Thank you all so much for telling us that you are in the same "rut".

I am going to tkd tonight and will think about staying for kb. I'm not sure about leaving the pup that long in his crate. Maybe in a few weeks.

The "carb" thing...I feel like the diet gives me too many carbs, I don't eat that many as a rule, just don't like them. I don't really like bread, nor pretzels, a bagel now and then or a bisquit on the weekends, but I just don't eat that many of them. Is there any way to change so I don't have as many or do you think I need them because of all the working out I do? Most nights, I don't get home before 7:30-8:30, I hate eating that late, but I'm so starving after my tkd and kb classes, that I have to eat something. Maybe just a bowl of cereal or something? What do you think?

Hello

You have all been such a positive encouragement while I have been laid up with my hand. I didn't post much because it was really slow and it hurt. As of Monday I just have a brace on for another 2 weeks and then I should be able to get back to ST I hope so.
According to the scale the brace weighed in at about 1.5 pounds so I had to keep reminding myself of that when I got on the scale.
Might rain the rest of the week so I will have to see about walking at night with dad. He has lost 5 pounds in the last month so at least one of us is losing. LOL
Well better go back to work.

emoticon job for all the people that are keeping on keeping on with this program.

Myo: I want to borrow the magic wand!

You might also pay attention to the type of carb you are actually eating. Are the good or bad. It might just be that simple.

Also, I wouldn't weigh everyday. It is normal for your body to flux 2 lbs, and that is what is discouraging. Pick an actual weigh in date and stick to it. If you want to check more than once, pick a day mid-week to see how it is going.

Remember, what we do today may not show today, but will show later...

Good Afternoon Team 40!

I so enjoy reading all the posts here whether they be successes or struggles. It truly represents all the phases that we all go through from time to time.

Trying new turkey burgers tonight...here's hoping they're good!

Tomorrow starts a 4 day 'vacation' at our cottage with my mother-in-law. I have every single meal planned out; getting the groceries tonight. I really want to stay the course over the next 4 days. I'll be checking in on my laptop to get my SP 'fix' daily.

Thanks to everyone for their contribution here - I appreciate it.

Thanks. I needed that. The reality check is that I did not get this way in a day, so I guess it won't magically come off just because I have waved my magic wand.

Myolaw2000 - Don't get discouraged. Though I am guilty of it a couple times a week I can attest that weighing yourself daily only does one thing - discourages you.

Don't get frustrated & give up. We all feel this way from time to time. Being as we are age 40 and up I would agree that carbs are not my friend even when I eat them in allowed amounts. The weeks when I do well are the weeks that I am strict on carbs and limit them to once a day. Too many carbs add weight to me the day after.

You can do it. Look over your meal plan and just try a couple days cutting back the carbs and see if that works for you. Hang in there.

I woke up this morning, weighed again and was disappointed to see no movement on the scale. I felt like just giving up. It was like not matter what I do it is not working. Does everyone weigh everyday? I also think that I might have to go low carb for my body type, but I did Atkins for a year and was successful, but kept getting sick.

Good Morning Team 40, it is a wonderful soggy morning here in the NWT, Canada - no complaining we needed it.

Wow, i relate to so many of these postings - I have been sliding back down that slippery slope. I promised myself I would never see the other side of 200 again and yesterday I checked 199 - YIKES, that was my kick in the butt. I started an exercise plan a couple of weeks ago and been sticking to it, but I really need to count calories (I have always opposed this and it has won ugh!@$#@).

Toni, you have a lot of sparks behind you - you R not alone - smile:) - I was feeling the same so I switched my exercises to every second day and that worked for me.

Mamamia, congrats, love those quiet times

Cyndi, I so hear you.

Off to work I go, lots to do and never enough time - have a great day everyone:)

Oh, oh sounds like we are in the "dog days of summer" (pun intended):0)

I couldn't have let the pup go either, that's how we got the dog before the one we have now... she was a devil dog too, smaller black lab.. chewed up all the kids toys... but we loved her any way... she only lived until she was 9 and was still jumping the fence the week before she went to doggy heaven. 3 dogs must be a handful.

I can relate to a lot of what everyone has said..Sharon..I was feeling a bit blah last week. I think we are just getting used the the weight lost and now are feeling we need to loose more... that's my take on it anyway. I just think how much worse I felt 2 1/2 months ago. Lots more aches and pains, clothes much tighter. Yes, I will choose to make this a good day!!!

Deb. I have had that energy surge at night too, but over all I've been sleeping better now.

Denise, Don't wear yourself out too much. I'm thinking about how I will need to get up by 5:30 in a week or so.. being at work at 5:30 must be tough.

Kellieann- you took lemons and made lemonade.... good for you!

Toni, We are getting healthier, our bodies will adjust.. I hope you feel better.

Mamamia, Cyndi,Ingrid, Neraus, anyone else I'm missing, have a good day.

On the protein bars.... I like Zone also, I buy the smaller 80 calorie ones, I tried special K, too and that was good also. I also tried Special K protein shakes, didn't like the vanilla so much, but do like the chocolate... I really feel full after ward.

Let's do this!!!
I am off to work out!!

there must be something in the air, people are feeling unmotivated during these "dog-daze" of summer. Me Too. Luckily! we all have another chance at success today!! do something anything to get out, (early is better for me too) or at least do pushups on a wall while talking on the phone. it's better than nothing and you'll feel better. my scale isn't budging & Im trying like hell to keep up the nrg. just get dressed and get OUT (note: this "kick in the pants" is of course for me too) have a good day everyone

HAHAHA DEMON CAT. Our middle dog is Sadie (aka Satan). hahaha This pup is a little devil too. Way too cute for his own good.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm not going to give up, but I would just like to get below 200 by the end of the year. I have not been below 200 in over 9 years. It just gets so frustrating.

Cyndi, think we were posting at the same time this morning.

2 lbs is a normal flux in weight. Don't let the scale bring you down. Remember there is more to this journey than the scale. You are doing great! Have fun at TKD tonight and then go home and play with that new puppy.

I would have done the same thing with the puppy...that is how I came to be the parent of my demon cat..lol

Have a great day!

Happy Wednesday Team40....I'm choosing to make this a great day! Challenge all you to do the same.

emoticon

I'm gearing up for a fun weekend with my daughter. We are heading to San Antonio to hang on the Riverwalk and do back to school shopping. I'm looking forward to it. This is her Senior year and I'm starting to know how my mom felt when I left home and moved to Texas...:( So, I'm taking advantage of the time we can spend together.

Rose: Alli is actually one diet thing I haven't ever tried. Good Luck!

Mama: WTG in getting that early morning walk in. I wish I could work out in the morning, but I would have to get up at 4am everyday...and one thing I'm not is a morning person.

Deb: When I first started SP I went through the same thing with my sleep. Now that I'm working out regularly I am sleeping better than I have in years. Don't eat to close to bedtime, it can have negative effects on your sleep patterns...lots of good articles on SP regarding this.

Kellianne: Isn't it funny how those are the days we seam to be the most active...not necessarily the most productive...lol

Toni: Sounds like the STress is doing a number on your body. Just keep working out, that is the best way to relieve stress. You'll make it...you are to strong of a person!

Denise: WTG on getting those Bike Rides in...hang in there, OT will be over soon. I think I might need to go do the tour of the stadium. I just hate giving my money to Jerry Jones though! He is such and idiot!

Anyway, Everyone have a great day and lets keep moving... emoticon

Hello everyone!

I haven't checked in in a few days. I'm just so frustrated with myself. I have not tracked since Friday morning and I stepped on the scale a day early, was up 2 pounds! I won't enter that, I'll weigh again tomorrow, on my regular day, and see if it changes. I am just one of those people that have to really watch what I eat and to work out like a maniac to lose any weight. My shins were hurting so badly, that I have not walked since Thursday and I did not go to class on Monday night. Well, the reason for that is we rescued a lab puppy that someone had just dropped off in the middle of the night at a neighbor's of my m-i-l's and she was going to take him to a kill shelter. No way could we let that happen. So now we have 3 dogs. The crazy one (the middle child), I finally bought a gentle leader collar and at least can walk her now. That product is totally amazing.

Well, I'm at work. We ARE walking today and I'm going to my tkd class tonight. I hate to leave the pup alone so long, but I cannot quit this now.

I hope you all have a great day, I'll try to check in later.

GM Team,

Just about 1/2 way through the week. I've had difficulty getting to work by 5:30 the last 2 days. I think the bike rides are wearing me out.

We rode 10.2 miles yesterday. Great ride! It was 87 degrees and we went back to the Cowboys Stadium. So awesome. Lots of cars buzzing in the area. News said there were artists in the stadium painting large murals inside. Every day after 6 they open the huge double doors in front and back of the stadium. They measure 120 ft high by 180 feet wide. Yesterday was the first time we saw them completely open and it was exciting. You could see all the way inside the huge 50ft high by 180 ft long scoreboards. Impressive. Going to have to take a camera next week.

Toni – Hang in there. We all have achy and long stressful days. It will get better.

Kellianne & Mamamiax3 – WTG for getting in your walks.

Deb – Dancing away the inches and pounds is awesome.

Rose – Welcome to the group!

Sharon – WTG for working out despite the blahs. You are doing great!

Janice – Keep up those great workouts.

Ingrid – Congrats on your 2lb loss.

If I missed ya, I’m thinking about you and rooting you all on to have a successful day.

Denise

This is a first for me: I got up at 6:00 a.m. to get my 5 mile walk in before hubby went to work and to beat the heat. Boy do I feel great and proud of myself. It really does pay to go out early - the temps were so pleasant, even a little chilly at first, especially before the sun really started rising. Awesome! Kids are still sleeping and the house is quiet. Sigh.... Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning!
Sounds like everyone is doing a bit of struggling in one way or another... it is comforting to know I am not alone. Long days at work, stress, and just getting through the day is taking a toll on me. My body aches, I have pains and stiffness that can not be explained, I am tired all the time. It is getting discouraging. I make myself exercise in the mornings (tho I could easily talk myself out of it), if I don't exercise than I feel worse. I am doing better about getting the exercise in in the evenings, but when I work late, it just gets too late to do anything. What ever is going on, I hope it goes away soon!
OK enough compaining....
Hope everyone has a fantastic day! The week is half over, thank goodness.

Toni

Ever have one of those days where you feel like you never should have gotten out of bed? That was today!
Good news is I got a lot of walking in today.

Keep sparking all!

Had a very busy day.... Looking forward to a long hot bath and a quiet night.I had a hard time sleeping last night... my energy levels are way up and I just couldn't fall asleep. I was a night time eater. I think I need to eat my evening snack right before bed. I have a hard time going to bed hungry... Tommorrow is another busy one.
Let me know how the Alli is working... I was considering trying it but must admit I am little scared...
Well, have a great evening. God Bless-

Hi 40+'ers! It's another hot one - but can't complain considering the mild summer we've had in MI. Also can't complain to you Texans! I got my walk in early before it got too hot.

Deb - Dance off the Pounds sounds like a good workout, and fun!

Ingrid - Congrats on the 2 lb loss! I track the same things you do. I have a hard time meeting the fiber of 25-35. I'm usually around 20-23.

Janice - Your snack list sounds like mine. I love grapes, almonds and walnuts too. What kind of protein bars do you like the best? They are a staple for me as well. So far I like the Zone bars the best.

Welcome MsKaryn!

Rose - Welcome and I have tried Alli, a couple years ago. Personally, it was not something I felt I could stick with for a 50+ weight loss. I have heard success stories, but only from the TV testimonials/commercials. You really have to watch your fat intake, or you will be unpleasantly surprised. I just felt it was unnatural and quite honestly, a bit too degrading. One should not have to wear a Kotex for anything other than a period at our age! And if you are a bit of a clean freak like I am, you might want to stock up on toilet bowl cleaner! Everyone is different, and you may have a good experience with it. You've invested the money in this bottle, so give it a try and decide if you want to continue. Good luck either way. Just trying something is a good step in the right direction. Just keep trying!

Sending inspirational sparks to you all! emoticon

Hi all . . . been MIA again! Had a couple of weeks of being down in the dumps about stuff. Came up for air about 2 weeks aga & have been kinda gung ho since then, EXCEPT . . . for my eating habits! Somewhere along the way, I think I got discouraged with all the pain I've been in from what I thought was related to Lupus, but come to find out is just bursitis! Unfortunately, this newfound info led me down the road to PREDNISONE! WOW, what a relief from all the pain I've been feeling almost constantly for about 8 month! However, my body just soaked it up! I'm bloated & nothing fits! Argggghhh!

So anyway, I got down to my last pill on Friday & decided to save it until Sat., so I could be pain-free while cleaning my house. Well, I never did take that last pill. I've been feeling pretty good. Instead, I decided to try Bayer Back & Body & it pretty much did the trick.

Now that I'm off the prednisone, I've decided to attack my weight head on. Some friends had been talking about alli a few weeks ago and I thought, if it wasn't so expensive, I'd try it. Well, lo & behold, I got a coupon for $15 off, making the 60 tablet starter pack only $29.00, so I decided to go for it! Today is my 1st day, but I'm feeling great! You're really supposed to start off just changing the diet to low-fat for a couple of days before starting the pills. But, like most of us, we know what to eat & what not to eat, so I just went ahead & started it today. I also tried a few new menu items like california sushi rolls. There were only six, but they really did fill me up! I didn't even use the soy sauce for dipping. The owner of the restaurant wanted me to try this pasta alla griglia dish (& he loaded me up!), but to my surprise, according to SP, it was only 120 cals. There was a lot of olive oil in there, so I just figured it would be higher. When I logged everything in, I was very much surprised to see how few calories I had eaten, but actually felt full!

So, I was just wondering if anyone else tried alli and how it worked for them?

Thanks!

Hey, Hey Team 40!

I'm feeling better today. I had a couple of really "blah days"...don't really know why, but glad I'm coming out of it. I didn't let it beat me down though, I just threw it into my exercise.

Well, I took notes and all, but think I will just reply to everyone by saying: DITTO JANICE! You replied so nicely to everyone.

Where are our boys, Roc and Bry? Are we getting to girly for them or something! LOL

Sending out good Vibes to all...now lets all get moving! Have a great healthy and active day everyone.

Hi I am trying to navigate through all the great pages on SparkPeople. I have to say, this is the most I've ever stuck to going to a website consistently to track my food. It's been such an eye-opener to see just how much I eat & how little I move! I wonder if anyone lives in Long Beach New York area? I'd love to make friends for a bikeride on the boardwalk. the toughest part is to not have anyone to talk to or exercize with. going to dress and walk into town now for errands and just to get out of the house!!

Good Morning Team 40!

The scale rewarded my efforts with a 2 lb. loss this morning! YAAAAAY! I'll soon be heading into a 'decade' (240s) that I haven't seen for quite some time!

The planning of meals is what's really keeping me on track. If I'm nourishing myself with good food on a regular basis (3 meals + 3 snacks), then why would I even want to overeat?

I track not only calories but carbs, protein, fat and fibre. Making sure that I meet each of those goal ranges daily is keeps me on the straight and narrow for healthful choices.

Imagine what I could lose if I actually got up and MOVED! emoticon

Enjoy your Tuesday - it's the only August 11, 2009 we're going to get!

GM Team,

Busy board here. I like it.

I got in a 10.4 mile ride yesterday. It was a scorcher too. My lead and I took off for the last 6.4 miles by ourselves. Still construction around park but we found another completed path and made our way to the Cowboys Stadium. Woo-Hoo! It was so exciting. I'm a football freak. The season will be starting soon and there is a lot of activity.

We had a bunch of losers this week. Awesome!

Congrats Starburst, Yvonne & Myolaw2000! WTG ladies.

Petal1111 - Welcome to our group!

Janice - Welcome back! Glad you had fun at the wedding.

Sharon - my tomato plants are struggling too in this TX heat. I have got 2 small roma tomatoes and nothing since.

Determination - Hang in there. Our stats are similar. Take small steps daily and you will start to feel better about things. Take it 5 pounds at a time. It's not so overwhelming. You can do this. We are all in the same boat and here to support each other. ((hugs))

congrats to those of you burning up the pavement walking for miles and miles. WTG Team!

Here's to a terrific Tuesday!

Hello Chit Chatters - think my daily chit chatting is becoming a weekly one. Never seem to find the time to sit down and catch up with all of you lately. Hello to some old faces - Jules, Diane, and Star! Sounds like everyone is still working hard. Spent six hours walking around our county fair on Saturday...didn't sit down once...not such a great idea when I already had a sore foot...now I have a sore foot and two sore knees. No idea what the deal is with my foot. I was thinking it was from wearing sandals (had the same problem last year during the summer), but I've been sticking to my sneakers or flats and I'm still having problems. In the meantime, I just keep walking.

Happy Monday All! Stay Sparked!

Hi everyone, old and new! I was also MIA this weekend; went to South Bend, IN to visit friends and took a side trip to Chicago to visit my bro. Took my little girl to the American Girl store for her 1st time. She was awestruck - it really was precious to see her reactions and hear her comments. We did lunch and the whole bit. It was an awesome experience for both of us. It was a great weekend all around! I didn't track my food, but made pretty good choices. Got some walking in too. So today, I am getting back into the routine. Hopefully the scale will be kind on Friday! There are so many posts to read and catch up on, but think I will also start fresh with that. I don't have that much time, gotta get unpacked, laundry done, etc. Bye for today!

Janie, said a prayer for you; don't be too hard on yourself, I see you've made some progress already, that IS something! There are always days we wish we did better, but just get up, dust yourself off, and keep on going on!

Got weighed and measured at Curves today, was pleased that I had a 11 lb drop and 5 inches lost!

I so hear you Determination - I have been in a slump for a few weeks now and still have the wavering depression side effects.

I just set time frames when it gets bad and allow my self the time to be depressed, or angry or whatever. For example on really bad days I say Ok I will be down from 8 - 2 and from 2 to bed time I will be ok (I never commit to completly joyous) I also add in a little exercise, even if its to the road and back (3min) - short walk always lifts a layer away. I do this during the really tough times and just increase the positive stuff each day. Hope this helps and don't feel alone we all go through this.
