I have so many goals but I have to start with a few. I want to start really eating healthier and in correct proportions. I have to get some of this weight off so I'm going to start moving. Walking and hitting the gym that is literally one floor below my office and is free to use. I can even take the elevator so there really is no excuse. Just getting up and going is probably my first goal to reach lol

I find it so difficult to cook a particular way and try to eat right when I have to cook for three other very genetically thin, healthy men who do not eat veggies or many fruits.

Isn't the fitbit fun. I have the flex, and I like to say that it "buzzes cheerfully on my wrist" when I reach my 10,000 steps. I have an active job, so the 10,000 is fairly easy for me. Have fun monitoring your steps!

Newest goal: To conquer a hill in my local park. I'm trying to build up my conditioning to jog uphill (and back down again) at least a dozen times....it's a CRAZY calorie burn to accomplish this!

Hi Lizzie,
Learn Yoga postures also called Asanas. They are intended to help balance your glands performance.
"Asanas balance the hormonal secretions from the various glands. The twisting and bending positions of the asanas, held for specific periods of time, place continued and specific pressure on the various glands of the body, thus stimulating them in various ways and regulating their secretions."
In the meantime I'll keep you in my prayers.
Keep up the good spirit!

Hey there...well it has been awhile since I have been on here or the computer for that matter.
I was diagnosed with a minor concussion and PTSD from a family outing that turned horrible on Easter weekend (April 20).
I have been off work since then and have not been on the computer for about 3 months. I am now just getting back to what I would consider a 'normal' life or at least somewhat close to what I was living before 20April.
I have started back to bootcamp and trying to get back my strength in mind and body so I will be able to return to work very soon (October is my hope but will depend on what my psychologist has to say)...
So my goals are as follows:
1. Return to work (paramedic) with a healthy, strong body, mind and soul.
2. Journal every day everything including food intake, exercise, mood etc.
3. Learn more about how to balance my Chakras (anyone practice this?)
4. Smile and laugh more!!
5. Be on here more!!

Cheers and thanks for listening!
Lizzie

I want to be more active, not necessarily planned exercising. I just need to get up and move more. stairs, walking the dog, doing housework, walking on nature trails, etc. doing pretty good at that goal.

Hey - that's my goal!!! Okay... I'll share. lol

I haven't had Doritos in over two weeks. This is huge for me... pretty much every evening this summer I've had some... I can make a big bag (normal big - not Costco big) last a week, but it's still way too salt, etc.. every day. I've challenged myself to one snack an evening and it has to be either fruit, veggies or greek yogurt. So far so good!

Okay, so I have had a couple of really bad weeks on the eating front. I made myself two goals to work on this week. I have to approach my healthy lifestyle from the activity side first, the eating will come along. I have learned this over the years as I have taken off and put on pounds too many times to count!

Goal #1: At least 10 minutes of activity outside of work.
Goal #2: Get to bed on time.

I want to feel good about me! yes that means losing weight - about 50lbs but i also want to know that if the scale does not move - i still feel good and know that i am doing everything I can to achieve my goals even if my body is fighting the change. I also want to wear cute stylist clothes :) emoticon

I am trying to just live a healthier life. Kind of hard to measure that. So, part of that is to lose 1 pound a week. I have just started allergy shots, and am looking forward to not feeling like I have the flu all the time. I love to walk my dog and need to begin adding strength training. I tried squats last week. Ouch! emoticon

Byyourgrace - I think 2 pounds per month should be very reasonable. I think the recommendation is not to go more than 2 pounds per WEEK. As I get older, it is becoming more and more difficult to lose, so I will be thrilled with a pound a week emoticon emoticon !

My goals are;
1. Eat thoughtfully - avoid, at all costs, eating when stressed!
2. Get to bed by 10pm. I do so much better with nutrition and mental health when I'm well rested.
3. Exercise, exercise, exercise!
My ultimate weight loss goal is to lose 35-40 pounds. Since that is a big number, I am going to aim for 10 pounds by August. It used to be much easier to consistently lose 2 pounds per week - now I understand that my body will not respond the same way it did when I was younger. As long as the scale doesn't go up, I'll consider it a victory emoticon

What is a reasonable healthy weight loss goal? I was aiming for 2 lbs per month. Is that too low? I'd like to lose faster, ie. 5 lbs per month, is that too high?

I will reach my goals.

Short term, my goal is to lose 5 pounds by the end of June. I think 5 pounds a month is reasonable. I know that many people aim for 10 pounds, but I just don't feel like I can get close to that number, and I don't want to set myself up to fail. If I lose 4 pounds, I still be happy.

My goal so to lose ten lbs by Aug, for the REUNION, then to lose an additional 35 on or before May 30, 2016. To day goal is to drink the water, exercise at least 10 minutes, and follow the 3 steps. My other goal is to learn a new recipe at least once a week and add ones I like to my repertoire. My family and I enjoy tasty food, but I've gotten into a rut....the things I have usually been preparing don't help me keep the weight off.

I will reach my goals.

My goals are rather simple. I am now 40yrs young, and for the last 5 years have gone from post-baby#2 weight of 108lbs up to 140lbs. I am VERY sedentary at work (sitting at a computer in a cube-farm where I cannot get up and about much except to an on-site bistro that is not healthy!) I am not a fitness/sports person by nature, prefering hiking, walking, yoga but have always had a healthy lifestyle overall and no eating disorders or weight issues until these past few years. So....as of June 1, 2014, my goal is to safely lose 30lbs by September 2014 and having used SparkPeople pre-baby#2, I know this is a great place to be!

1) Improve my health overall for longevity of good health over a lifetime (for self and family)
2) Reduce weight to where "I feel best" and my doctors say is more appropriate (goal is 105-110lbs)
3) Drink MORE water - actually, aside from wine, tea, coffee...it's all I want to be drinking now
4) Figure out how to fit in fitness for life...I know I love yoga, walking and hiking, but I'd like to add tennis back in and maybe some other activities like cross-country skiing in winter.

I too have learned that I must set small goals while working on the long term goal of losing 32 pounds. My current goal is to exercise at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes a day whether that's 10 minutes 3 times a day or 15 minutes twice a day or the whole 30 minutes at once.

I have learned that I need to make small goals and not necessarily long term ones at this time.
Right now my goal is to successfully complete a 5 day challenge I joined on facebook. That challenge includes a healthy eating plan (where they give you the meal plan) and to exercise every day. No specific amount or kind of exercise specified :) I feel I can succeed at that and then I'll set my next goal.

I am in control of who I am and who I will become.
