Welcome back Mandy! Your story has given me so much inspiration!! Congratulations on losing 100 plus pounds, that is not easy!!! We need to look forward and not behind us. I have been on this site for a couple years but really took it seriously in January of this year. January 9th to be specific. I have lost 34 pounds so far. I went from getting no exercise in at all to workout between an hour to a hour and a half in everyday for 6 days out of the week. Yes I still have bad days where I exceed my calorie goal but I am noticing that they are becoming less and less and what journey does not have struggles?! That is what I am learning through this lifestyle change, yes I have figured out that this is not a diet for me but a lifestyle change.

MANDYJ,

Reading that you'd lost more than 100 pounds really inspired me yesterday. Learning that even a little backslid wasn't enough to make you quit, helped even more. I added you as a friend, I hope that's alright. :)

Hey there Mandy!! I remember you as being very active on the team when I first joined in 2012.

I too was where you are, I had successfully lost 40 lbs, only to gain it back, due to a move and the stress of it.
SO glad that at ONLY a 20pound gain you decided to say WHOA WAIT this is not what I want.

I started back in December, and although I have only lost 5% or 15 pounds, I have lost 2 sizes!!! We all lose differently, so when that scale isn't being nice I whip out the measuring tape, or put on my old pants=)

Life can be tough at times, but life happens. It's what we do when we reach a breathing point that changes, and if we let it, define us. One of my favorite quotes is this---

Just because I step off the path, doesn't mean I need to get lost in the woods.

Cheers,

Hattie

Goal 1000 fitness minutes/month!

I may not be to the finish line yet--but at least I am in the race!

A healthy me is up to ME!!!!!

Glad to help. I was active on here in 2009 and in 2011 before a long absence. One of the first things I did last fall was read my old blogs, most I didn't even remember writing. Definitely was interesting and motivating! emoticon

Welcome back! I'm looking forward to hearing more about how you achieved your success. I got my butt in gear last October and am down 58 lbs currently. It has been a lot of work but so worth it. I am wearing clothes I haven't touched in 4+ years, I am more active with my kids, and really changing how and what I eat.

Congrats on getting back on the wagon! That's the important thing. You have also come to the right group. This is a great group of very motivating, honest and caring people that will help keep you on track if you ask. Reach out and you will receive!

My journey, I have been on SparkPeople for years but was never all that serious until this year. January 5th I started changing my life. I took it slow and continuously add more activity into my day and keep trying to eat even healthier and healthier meals and a very wide variety of foods trying things I've never tried or trying to make yucky stuff taste good.
I've lost 21lbs since Jan 5th.
This week I am going though a really tough time. Monday morning I received news that my best friend killed herself. People in this group have been very supportive and helping and have reached out to me to let me know that they are there and that they care.
If this had happened in December, or even early January, I would have lost myself in a lot of bottles of vodka and 3 meals a day of take out and ice cream and locked myself up.
In knowing how well this journey has made me feel, it has given me motivation to not fall off the wagon and keep pushing to succeed in my goals. Because of that, I am still exercising and eating right and because of that, I am starting to feel better instead of falling into a deep depression like I would have two-three months ago.

This journey isn't just weight loss, it is a life change. Stay on the wagon. It's ok to stop and view the outside of the wagon, maybe go for a walk but you gotta get back on the wagon, for the rest of your life!

Good luck, you can do it! And you've come to the right place.

Thanks Jeff :) I'm glad to be back too! I was part of this team a long time ago... I started my weight loss journey at close to 400 lbs (i don't really know what I weighed, as scales wouldn't go up that high!... I have recently recovered some pictures of me at this weight... I really should post one, but they are so hard to look at.) I wanted to be part of this team again, the journey is unique and the emotions of losing this kind of weight run deep. I knew I would find what I need here :) so glad to be back!

I really admire your dedication to come back before you gain back everything you lost, which is so often the case. I already added you as well. I think you will find this group supportive and challenging. Folks don't pull punches and will really help keep you on your game if that is what you're looking for. Thank you very much for the kind words, I'm excited to watch my success as well!

Ok! Jtaylor! Thank you!!!! Exactly what I needed! Those are all the things that kept me going in my process! It's been hard to feel the same motivation, so thanks for sharing your momentum with me! You are doing a great job! Congrats on all those milestones... I remember how they felt, now that you have reminded me!
I hope you don't mind if I add you as a friend! I want to watch you and your fabulous success!
Thanks so very much for sharing! *smiling now*

Welcome back, and congratulations for keeping it in check before it got out of hand. 20 won't drop overnight, but it is a lot better than 120!
Success: I'm less than 12 weeks in and down 54 lbs. I've hit major milestones of 5%, 10%, and 15% of my total weight lost, 25, and 50 lb losses, and a few weeks ago left the 300's behind forever. I'm well on my way to reach my 117 lb (initial) goal well before the end of the year. Clothes I hadn't worn or seen in years are beginning to replace the tent-like shirts and pants I was resigned to. People have noticed, and when they do it is the greatest feeling of accomplishment. Beyond the scale, I am actually living actively. I walk every day, and am starting to jog some of it. When I started I could barely finish a 10 minute seated workout. I've picked up tennis again after not playing for 20 years, and a week ago beat someone 100 lbs lighter than me. I'm also showing my son what it looks like to live a normal life, free from the stares and jokes and torment that I pray he never has to endure like I did. Every day and every pound is a victory. Success isn't about the scale. Success is making the right choices, and living it out every day. The scale is just a tool along the way.

Small victories every month. I am due for new photos in 5 days. I'm 14 lbs lighter now than the most recent photo.

So... Three years ago, I started this amazing journey... I lost almost 150lbs until....

What if you made it sooo close to your goal.... and then gained 20lbs back....
What if you lost your motivation....
What if your clothes started to feel tight again... ugh...
What if you started to look in the mirror and felt disappointed with yourself...

I am back after being off of the site for almost a year, and I have gained 20 lbs back. It's frustrating, but I won't give up.

I need so help to be reminded of how far I've come! If you can identify with how I'm feeling and can offer some support, I would appreciate it!

If you are reaching goals and can remind me of how it feels to succeed, please give me a shout out!
