I feel like rewards don't really work for me...I think because if I want to buy something I just save my money until I have enough and buy it. Not that I buy a lot of anything I have a small budget.

I think getting to shop a size smaller will be the reward as clothes are my biggest motivator right now. And I too do the sticker thing for exercise :)

This is my reward list--you will see that most are things that I need. My shoes were so beat up it hurt to wear them.

I haven't had a haircut in 1.5 years.

The new songs for the ipod are a total of $2.30.

We aren't rich by any means, but getting healthy is an investment that will save us money in the long run. Also since we have cut WAY back on our eating out, it balances out.

I do put a sticker on my calender though for every time I work out.--It is so motivating to see my calendar full of stickers.

I do think rewards are necessary--but maybe they can be for different increments. Maybe every 10lbs, or every 5%.

255-New walking shoes
250-Hair cut and style
245-2 new songs
240-Mani/Pedi
235-2 new songs
230-3 new outfits
225-2 new songs
220-spa day, ahhhhhhhh
215-2 new songs
210-? Stuck on this one, not sure what I want=)
205-2 new songs
200-Weekend Away

Goal 1000 fitness minutes/month!

I may not be to the finish line yet--but at least I am in the race!

A healthy me is up to ME!!!!!

I love all this feedback!

Bill, that is a really really good idea.. I never get 5 minutes alone, so that sounds awesome!

LEXJAMI79 & Angey- Yes, I have to admit I have some of that too, mostly for my hubby because I feel like he doesn't believe I'm going to do it after so long of saying I'm going to. I will so enjoy showing off to him. Hey, he'll benefit too emoticon

J- I sooo get that.. I put off my big fam for so long with pics that I ended up having them done this last Christmas at my heaviest! emoticon So my super big goal will be to get new ones this year to replace that one in all my extended families living rooms!!!!!

My brother is getting married this November and I really wanted to lose a huge chunk so I can enjoy the time, we even get to stay at a hotel. Which we have NEVER done! Yes, married 12 years this year and never stayed in a hotel... I want it to be a super awesome evening all around!!!

Oh yeah! A new family pic would be great! I got the first one in years done in December, right before I really started working at losing the weight for good. 100lbs gone one will be soooo great! I'll hang it up right beside the old one too! :)

And you are almost there J !!

I don't have a ton of money to spend either so I'm only rewarding myself at the big milestones. When I lost 25lbs, I spent $20 of a pedicure for example. When I hit 100lbs lost my husband has promised me a spa day. Because it takes time to reach these goals, we've been setting a little money aside each week to pay for the rewards. :) But honestly, I've found the biggest reward is being able to do things more easily. Housework doesn't wear me out the way it used to. Jogging across the street before the light changes doesn't leave me out of breath. Those sorts of things seem small but are huge to me.

Jami, Im with you on the not nice reward ha!
Honestly , I cant wait to lose a bunch and go back to my home town and show off my slim self lol.

I don't have purchased rewards as I also don't have much money being a single mom, and I know that I will be needing new clothes too. My reward is how I feel. Hanging on to that feeling and remembering that it was not so long ago that it was hard to move and it hurt to walk. Knowing that I am able to move better and have more energy and being happier, that is all the reward I need!

I do have a sticker system though. I get a sticker on the calendar for each day that I exercise, one for drinking at least 8 cups of water and one for reading a section of a healthier lifestyle book. There is a different sticker for each goal so I know which ones were accomplished which days. I can tell you, I am super proud when I look back and see stickers on every day! They used to be so sporadic.

One step at a time...
Angey

That is a tough one. What if you did "time" rewards. Put your husband in charge of the kids for an evening so you can go on a walk with a friend or to just relax somewhere. Just a thought.

I'm sort of with SCARLETCHUBSTER right now. I don't have the money for non food rewards. That has to go to the moving fund lol. I have a lot of smaller clothes so for me the reward is fitting back into those old clothes and not having to buy new bigger clothes. Plus as I get rid of clothes, it means less boxes to haul to the west coast next year :-) Also just the knowledge that I am helping my body by doing this is reward enough at the moment.

I also have to admit that I have another reward and it's not really nice. I've had several people tell me they didn't think I could do this and mean it. It's sort of a reward to me to be able to rub it in their faces when I do loss weight. That's horrible I know, but it motivates me lol.

I guess it's whatever motivates you or keeps you going. Really, I can't even afford make up or a book or anything like that. Back in the day I would buy one song off ITunes but that is when I worked.

I really do think that the reward of just seeing the scale is enough too, I guess I'll stick with it. Maybe stickers, just to appease my mind emoticon I will eventually have to buy clothes as I lose weight too, right? SO that will be cool too...

Thank you everyone.

Thanks J for giving me the spreadsheet example, I was actually trying to figure out how I wanted to keep track of my weigh losses on one and didn't see any I liked. I like how yours is set up :)

This is my reward chart for each 5 lbs and 5% lost. We aren't wealthy either, which is what makes it such a big reward to go out of town overnight or to get a new tool for my workshop for big rewards. Small rewards are things like a new book, movie night, or a date night with my wife.

Edit: I realize that you can't really read it. There is a larger one if you look through the team photos.

I've always had trouble with this one too because a) we also don't have a lot of money and b) I've spent my entire life using food as a reward...so to me they are pretty solidly linked. Honestly, my solution is just to forgo a standard "reward" system. I figure I'm in this to lose weight, be healthier, and not lose my job so in my mind seeing the numbers on the scale fall, and my clothes fit better, and my ability to do physical activity increase is pretty much the reward itself.

I use make up as rewards, just a lipstick or a new eye shadow to add to my collection. I just figure it's it's not food, and clothes I hate spending money on only for them to get too big.

We really don't have a lot of money, and I'm really not sure which rewards I would like to place for meeting goals.

What do you all have as non-food related goals?
