Beleive it or not, it is possible to drink too much water. You can actually clear out much needed sodium and other nutrients if you drink too much water. We think this is why my oldest daughter may have passed out last year. I know it is hard to believe, but it is very much true. If you are going to drink water, you should also drink some type of sports drink, tea, etc. emoticon

Hi JENNYANDTIM91,
Don't let on eslip up get you down. Remember, tomorrow is a new day. I do understand what you mean though. My daughter and are by ourselves this week because her dad and sister are on a trip. Last night we went to Culver's for dinner and then got a Concrete malt (Custard shake) with M&Ms in it. I was so stuffed, but it was so good. We had been doing so good until then. I told her that we had to be twice as good today. Hang in there. It is a "jungle" out there. emoticon

Hey guys I missed you all, haven't logged in since Thursday I had a very busy weekend. I did stay on track. Went to a party on Friday didn't have any cake nor did I drink any alcohol. I am so proud of myself. On Saturday I took the kids school shopping ate out twice and stayed on track both times. Had Wendy's for lunch and I ate a chicken salad on freschetta bread with a light lemonade. For dinner we went to Chili's and I had the lettuce wraps with water. This lifestyle change is definitely working well. I have still not weighed in. I worked out 4 days last week and stayed with in my calorie count also drank 8 or more glasses of water each day. This was my first complete week with SP

Hello My Friends,

A Happy & Healthy Monday to you.
I hope all is well and that you had a good weekend. Sorry I haven't posted much over the weekend. I got caught up with church.

I am feeling a lot better physically, in fact I walked like over 5 miles yesterday, but ate too many carbs so not I am bloated, but I will get it all flushed out in a couple of days and should be back to normal all together.

Have a great day all!

Blessings....Christie

Christie -

You have a picture of what your body will look like when you reach your goal. Where did you get it?

I need the motivation to see what I could look like.

Thanks

Good Day My Friends,

A Happy & Healthy Wednesday to you!
Half way through the week already.

I hope all is well and that your week is going well so far.

Congrats to those who lost weight ot maintained.

I am getting make to normal, slowly, but surely. I am actually getting that urge to want to go work out at the gym again so I must be doing something right. My nephew goes back to school in a few weeks so I will be able to focus on my daily gym workouts again. At least I am walking and that makes a big difference. I had a couple of weeks when I was not walking and I started gaining weight, but as soon as I started walking again the weight started coming off. Strange how a little movement (even 15 minutes) can make a big difference.

Well, have a great and heatlhy day.

We can do it!

God Bless

I too love my appletinis. I was going to have one last night until I entered it into my tracker and saw how may calories a regular martini is. I opted to not have a drink.

Did you think about bringing some flavored drink packets with you?

I took alcohol out of my lifestyle. However, the real test comes this weekend. My brother-in-law's birthday is Friday and we are going to his party. Pray for me you guys. I think I can do it. I love my sour apple martinis. I am not a big drinker so one is all I would drink anyway. We know what one martini looks like though.

Anyway, I always consider doing a little more exercise than is required this way I am over instead of under. In case something comes up. I work out in the mornings and in the evenings. And today I started school and didn't get the evening workout in. Things will come up.

As for the mexican rest. I don't consider that a slip up I consider that life. We will still eat out and every once in a while have a special occasion to attend you can always work out extra when you consume a few extra calories.

Peace and Blessings

I kinda did the same thing this weekend.....several slip ups. Drank to much alcohol and went to a mexican rest. When I put it all into the tracker I went over my daily limit. It could have been worse I guess but what I like about this lifestyle change is that we can make slip ups and get back on our feet and keep going. I've only been doing this a few weeks so I am not too worried. Plus I exercised a little more yesterday after eating all those calories and fat. Don't let the slip up discourage you. Infact now I am inspired to eliminate alcohol from my diet completely. I know I can do it. We all can do what ever we set our minds to do.

A suggestion to you on the fast food--well, the obvious one of stay away from it, but you know, life happens. My real advice is to get nutritional guides for every place that you may possibly go on a spur of the moment. That way, when you do go, you can make the best choices possible. I invested in a book called the Calorie King. They also have a website where you can get a lot of the information. The nice thing about the book is it's thick, but still compact. I keep it in my truck. If the kids want taco bell, I can eat there if I get what I want "al fresca" and stay within range. Sonic, same thing, they have this grilled chicken wrap that really tasty, and easy on the cals/fat. Sometimes, it's hard to avoid them, like a day like today--you're out, your hungry, and hours from home. But this way, you're ahead of the game.

Don't worry too much about it. One day will be okay.

Katkia- You go girl!!! I have boxes of "used to fit" and "almost fit once" clothes that I can't wait to get into...somehow I just can't seem to part with them. Wear those jeans and give yourself a big pat on the back.

Jennyandtim- Maybe you can rack it up to a lesson learned and make better choices next time.I think that it is good that you took the time to look it up and log it. For me, it is even hard to do that when I know I have really gone of the deep end with the food, and you came here for support so I'd say that is two steps in the right direction. Tomorrow's a new day!

Hello everyone just need to vent a little. My hubby had nascar shool today where he got to drive the real thing kinda cool, anyways that meant we have been gone all day. So on the way to the track a 2 hr drive, we pulled thru the drive-thru at mickey d's ( i ate a double cheeseburger and fries) felt a little guilty since i have not put a bad morsel of food in my mouth in over 3 weeks. So then on the way home hubby and the kids decide we are gonna eat KFC oh my did i pig out now i feel incredibly guilty! I can not believe how many fat and cals in that stuff, I was completly shocked after i did my food log! emoticon I am so hoping this BIG mess up doesnt throw me off track. I have been doing so good Hopefully a good night sleep will help and I'll wake up without this guilt. Sorry for the rant but I really have no one else to gripe to and just wanted to let this out. Goodnight to all. emoticon

I posted this in my blog, but I wanted to share it with all of you, because I know you will all get it...
________________________________________
______

Today I was looking for a pair of jeans. These jeans are old, but not worn. Because they have been sitting in a drawer for years, as I was unable to fit into them. They were my favorite jeans. I use to live in jeans, I loved jeans. But after I had gained weight I didn't like the way I looked in jeans so I stopped wearing them.

I found those old jeans and I tried them on. I just wanted to see how close I was to fitting into them again. I wanted to see if I could pull them on yet, I figured it would be awhile before I could fasten them....

They Fit!!!! They are actually a little bit loose! I am so happy, there just aren't words. My coworkers have been telling me that I am swimming in my clothes. And I knew they were right, but it took having those jeans fit again to make me realize the truth....I am succeeding! And it is an incredible feeling!

Water poisoning, huh? Who knew? I learn something new all the time :) I did hear about that girl though, had forgotten about it. I didn't know you could flush all the good bacteria out either. I think your body knows, for the most part, what is too much. I trust what my body tells me on most everything.

Well, Wednesday I started really exercising again. It's been about 2 months. It felt great. Got up again this morning and did it. My only complaint is how sore my back is. Since I'm pregnant, I can't really do back extensions or anything like that. I need to research and see if there's back exercises that don't involve laying on my belly (other than a deadlift). If anyone knows, I'm definitely open to suggestions.

Happy Friday everyone!!

Meghan

ahhhh 6 glasses isn't to much. Now I did research this once. You can get something like water poisoning or something but it does take a HHHUUUGGGEEEE amount in a short period of time. Remember a lady died not to recently. However. I drink over 100 ounces a day...about 8 16.9 ounce bottles and my doctor says "awesome". (I am on diet pills so I visit my doctor frequently and my weigh ins are in her office) I did drink over 3 liters of water a day and got kidney stones. My doctor said it's because I was flushing away the "good" bacteria. So I stick to about 2 liters.

It took me about 2 1/2 months to reach the 25 lbs mark.

I have never heard any doctor tell anyone to drink less water. That makes absolutely no sense to me... Sorry I can't be of help there. Water is so good for you. I would definitely question his reasoning.

Thanks for the boost guys:) It's good to hear from others that all your effort is worthwhile.

I am seeing an Endocrinologist and he told me to drink less water. Does anyone know why he would say this? I was drinking about 6 glasses a day and he told me I was drinking too much.

It is so inspiring to see the weight loss on this site. I have only been following the program since Sunday but I already feel healthier. I have a long way to go but I am excited about this site.

How long did it take you to lose 25 pounds?

well Plainoleme... 50# is alot!! And you should be proud of yourself for losing that much. If you are running out of steam in your weight loss, try switching up your workouts. My trainer makes me do the treadmill at different inclines every three minutes. When I'm on the cross trainer I have to keep it in the 140's for 3 minutes and then 150's for three minutes and keep switching. Supposedly that keeps your body from becoming "used" to it. If you are running out of steam because of your fear of losing weight... well, in my opinion... and it's just my opinion... you may need to look at why you set your goals as you did. I've never been in a "comfort thing" with my fat... I've always been afraid of getting fatter. you have to think "why am I comfortable being over weight?" You are still you, you as the person didn't change, just the body...

Good morning all! Everyone is off to a great start.

FYI--I'm pregnant, so I'm not posting weigh ins, or displaying my ticker right now. I'll be back in full force in March next year. But I did lose 26.5 lbs before becoming pregnant thanks to SparkPeople! :) I'm still here because I don't like BabyFit. I started a team here called Fit and Pregnant that is growing like crazy.

Another team member is on vacation, the other is MIA.

I have been busy painting my house. I bought it back in August, and the people before me had terrible taste in high gloss colors, so I'm having to prime everything before painting. Just got done with half of the baby's room--new baby will be sharing with my youngest and only half because I won't know for about 5 more weeks what I'm having. I have colors picked out for both sexes, so I'm just waiting now. My youngest will be 2 in about a month. He's in love with Cars--the movie and all things that move. Bought him some Cars furniture--toddler bed, toy rack, table and chairs, got all those put together and painted blue and yellow on his side The cars bedding is blue, yellow, and red. I love to see the end result. Next is my middle sons room. He is a spiderman fan, so we're going with gray and red. He's pumped up. I'm taking a break today though and cleaning the house and doing laundry. I tend to put things on hold until a project is done, so I've just been doing the bare minimum.

Anyone else here have a garden? My tomatoes are all starting to ripen. Nothing better than homegrown tomatoes.

Hope everyone has a great day!

WTG Katkia!!! Your weight loss is inspiring for us newbies. I was heartbroken when my BMI went from overweight to obese. I can't wait to see it moving in the other direction. Keep up the good work!

Plainoleme, WOW, how awesome are you?!? Fifty plus pounds! Talk about an inspiration! I know losing weight puts us out of our comfort zones, and since I haven't been in your shoes I don't have any advice. However, when I start to get bummed out I think of Dorie's (Finding Nemo) sage advice "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."
By the way, I think that you find the scale tickers when you make your sparkpage.

Take Care

Hey it looks like everyone is doing a great job. I've hit my half way mark and it seems I've run out of steam.
I am afraid of losing the weight(It's a comfort thing, or a self preserving thing). Looking for some advice or thoughts.
Also If someone could tell me how to add one of those tickers thet would be great.
Thanks

AWESOME!!! WTG! Treat yourself to a pedicure or something fabulous. 25 pounds is alot to lose! especially if you are toning it up too at the same time... I've only lost like 8 lbs but it's all changing... I know what you mean about the "obese" tag... I'm 6 foot so I don't look that heavy to be "obese".. but it's in my medical records and that sucks! Keep it up!! you give me inspiration....

This past weekend I finallly hit my short term goal of losing 25 pounds! This morning the scale moved again and I am now in the 170's! OK, 179, but it has been years since I saw the scale this low! I am so happy I could cry!

After I lose another 5 pounds I will officially go from being "obese" to being "overweight" according to the CDC's BMI! Now that will be something to celebrate!

25 lbs in great!! Congratulations!

Buying new clothes is one of the best motivators.. I was in a similar situation with a swim suit this year. My old one was a 20/22, my new one is a 14/16. The other one was falling off me, so I decided it was time. I about died when the size fit! :)

Sounds like everyone is doing great!! Keep it up!

Way to Go Katkia! I went shopping this weekend, had to buy a dress for our vacation. My husband picked out a skirt (size 20) and I put it on...IT WAS TO BIG!! the 18 TO BIG.. finally purchased a size 16 and I was totally dancing around the store. There is no greater motivation than that.

So go buy something awesome!!

I am new here, so I thought I would start out posting with good news! Today when I steped on the scale I had cause to celebrate! I have now officially lost 25 pounds! I am so happy, I am off to the gym to celebrate, then I am going shopping! (The girls at work have been commenting how it's time to buy new clothes in smaller sizes because I am swimming in my current clothes! What a great feeling!)

Just wanted to let you know that next tuesday I will go away on a five week trip. So I will not be on Spark people so much (if anything at all) during that time. See you all in August!

Boy, it is a hot and humid day here in southern Missouri. It's about 90 degrees with 75% humidity. Lovely rain last night, but with the heat today and it drying out, it's making it pretty miserable.

Today, the kids and I cleaned out their clubhouse so they could paint it. There was sand and mud and leaves and all kinds of junk in it. They are having a blast.

Then we made a water slide by putting the hose at the top of the slide so they could go down it. I'll admit, it's fun, they made me try it. My littlest one doesn't quite know what to think of it. He's still a bit weary of water, especially cold water.

My garden is doing great. With all the rain and then all the sunshine, it is just booming. I planted corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, and okra. I opted for the raised bed this year, I hate tilling in the Land of Rock. But I didn't make it big enough, so that's all I could fit. Going to add another one next year so I can also do melons, cantaloupes, strawberries, and also an herb garden.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Meghan
