Hi Everyone
My name is Joni, just started with SP. I'm looking for some women who understands how we struggle with weight. I work full time. I'm married with four kids and they are all skinny people. They eat whatever they want. We are southern so our way of eating is not healthy. Lots of gravy, fried foods and rice/potatoes. I don't get any support from my family, my husband feels if I want to lose weight, well just do it but don't change the menu at home. I need help with different ways to cook and I need some recipes. Maybe a follow southern lady can help me cook they way my family likes but found ways to cut back on the grease. emoticon

Hi everyone!

My name should be obvious (just look at the username). I live in south central NE with my AWESOME hubby and our three children.

I made a deal with my mom and 'baby' sister that we would lose weight to get healthy together. All three of us are on SP to keep track of ourselves and each other. I joined WW as well, and that is what started our family pact of healthy weight loss!

Godd luck to all, and God Bless!

Naomi

Hi, my name is Kristi. I am brand new to SP and excieted to meet some new faces. I turned 32 on October 5th. I am engaged and will be married on May 1st. I would like to lose as much as possible before my wedding. Engagement was the kick in the butt I needed. I have lost about 25 pounds in the last 6 months or so but this is where I always get stuck and revert back to my old ways. I would like to lose 75-100 pounds more. (Not ALL before May!) The Lord has blessed me with a large 5'10" frame and I got thru my 20s able to hide my weight rather well. When I told my fiance that I weighed about the same if not more than he did (he is 6'4") the poor guy just about fell over. Don't get me wrong - he thinks I am beautiful and loves me unconditionally but he is most concerned about my health and emotional well-being. I would love to hear from all of you. Drop me a line, add me as a friend. I need all of the support I can get! Nice to meet all of you! Kristi

Hi, I'm Carolyn. I joined a while ago but...my lack of posting is indicative of a lot of things, don't you think? It's not that I'm lazy, it's really that there are so many other things I'd rather be doing that preclude exercise at the same time (can't exactly make jewellery while on the treadmill!)... I need to lose about 100 pounds, although most people who look at me would guess my weight at about 20 pounds less than I am. Which is good, I think!
Hopefully I'll find a little more motivation to get away from the workbench and do a little more working out!

Hi! My name is Ami. I live in the beautiful San Luis Valley of Colorado. I am going to lose about 80lbs. Hopefully 20lbs by Christmas. I just started the "Couch to 5K" program and have signed up for the half marathon "Slackers Run" that starts in Loveland next summer. Wish me luck!

Hi, my name is Lisa. I started Sparks today and have many more days ahead of me. I need to loose at least 50 lbs in order to be healthier and feel better about myself. I am tired of being out of breath just getting my jeans on!!!! (also tired of the fact that I only have one pair of jeans that fits!) Anyway, I hope I can stick to this....I am famous for "starting" and not sticking to it. I want this time to be different!

Hi everyone. I just joined, I was a member of the 20 somethings group and realized now that I am 30 I need to shift groups! I joined sparkpeople on June 29th and sparkpeople wanted me to loose 59 lbs and I am at 23.5 hopefully 25 lbs when I weigh in tomorrow. I find sparkpeople fantastic - my problem totally became portion control and snacking - cheese before dinner, sugar drinks etc. I cant get over the drastic difference in just the 23.5 lbs so far, all my clothes are too big and I feel fantastic. I am looking forward to hitting the halfway point and getting back to the weight I was at when I was in my early 20's.

Well I guess I'll jump in head first here. I'm 32 years old and I need to lose about 80 pounds. Many years ago I joined WW and was successful in losing about 65 pounds. As is typical I fell off the wagon and not only gained back what I had lost but gained even more. I've been on and off again on the weight loss wagon for the past few months but I'm finally fed up with being tired and unhappy in my own skin. I still follow some habits I learned while on WW so it shouldn't be too hard to get back in the screen.

Hi all! I forgot to intro myself here.

I'm doing a challenge with myself to lose 15 by Thanksgiving, so that's the thread I have up.

I'm a NYC-girl, recently married, public school teacher, church minister and part-time seminarian. Yea - way too much going on. =P My stress level is through the roof and so is my obesity. =( Need to get myself healthier and happier. My hubby has recently joined me in this endeavor.

Good to see you all here!

Hi all, My name is Angie and I am new to sparks. I joined a health program called weight wise and they suggested this site for tools to help me get motivated. I am and have been extremeely lazy when it came to health and lifestyle in the past 10 years. As a result I have put on 100lbs and hate myself for it. I am looking at this as a new chance in life and plan on gettin back in control of myself and gettin my self esteem back from the vacation it seems to be on. I am happy to be here and hope to succeed like I have seen many of you doing here. Thanks for having me. emoticon

Thrasea, homemade food is exactly what I want also. :) We just don't use so much industrial stuff over here either.

Right now I'm looking into the recipe database here, with a little work it's possible to add your own recipes, have them calculated and added into your mealplan.
I think it will be easier for me to follow the meal plan if I learn better to adjust it to fit my needs and have time to add my favorite recipes. :)
And there is no hurry really, I gained all this weight during a 7 year period, I can well spend a few months learning how to do it good before I start loosing them. :D

Regards, Malin

Hi! I'm 32 and I live in Denver. I just joined yesterday and have already found all of the tools on here useful. My goal is to lose about 50 pounds... I was down to my "ideal" weight about 4 years ago but working a desk job (with ridiculously long hours) I've found it hard to maintain healthy eating and excercise. I joined SP for motivation and a way to track what I'm actually doing to myself instead of mindlessly snacking/eating fast food because it's easier...

Hi everyone. This is sort of a trial post to see if I'm doing it right.

Like most of you, I gained a lot of my weight in my mid/late 20s. A bad marriage and two kids and working out of my home running a home daycare all contributed to my weight gain. Mostly though, it was that I saw what was happening to my body but I was so angry with the way my life was that I did nothing to stop it...kind of in defiance in a way. It was like, if this is how I have to live, then to heck with taking care of myself...

It took a divorce and a health scare to really wake me up to the fact that I don't HAVE to live like that. I can CHOOSE to live differently and be happy with my life again. I started at 221 two and a half weeks ago and since starting my diet and joining a gym, I'm down to 215 already!!!

So, I'm back in college, I joined a gym and I'm dieting, living independently, and raising my daughters on my own. I'm succeeding at it too! (much to my own surprise) I will not stand by and let myself destroy the only body I have. I will fight this fat and I will win!

Hey All. Iím new to Spark altogether. I'm hoping to lose some pounds but considering Iím a pretty big guy to begin with, Iím more interested in becoming healthier. I recently broke a leg so the going is slow for now. I started about 1.5 weeks ago at 230. I'm thinking with the weight lifting, Iíll probably get to 215 at best. My wife is in the weight loss mode as well. I'll be sending her an invite so she may be joining in. Good luck to all of us!

I first heard about Crohn's from being a big fan of singer Beth Orton. Do you know her? She used to have problems for being onstage, but last time I heard she was quite fine and able to do live shows. She's a great musician, check her out!

From what I've seen so far about SP, I believe the ultimate message of everything you see here is "never give up". If you lack motivation, then just be stubborn instead... ;)

Hi! I am a 30 something (AHH!) that is hoping to lose 50 lbs in the next year or so. I do have Crohn's disease so dieting is always a struggle for me as I have to maintain a balance of how much nutrition I need to eat, as well as making sure that my weight doesn't fluctuate. I have now been able to put my health into remission (for now) but now I need to lose the weight. I'd love to meet someone else who has Crohn's that is struggling with weight loss to motivate each other. I've been doing SparkPeople for 3 weeks and have only lost 2 lbs, so I'm starting to feel less motivated. I have done WW in the past, but felt way too constricted in what I was able to eat, so I'm hoping that here will help me out. I am getting discouraged :)

Hi all, one more for the team! It's good to know that I'm not alone in my challenge, and I'm very excited to be here.

Hey Malin, I'm having the same problem as you about the nutrition tracker! It's a bit difficult to adapt American foods to what I eat here (I'm from Brazil). I wish there were more options of home-made dishes and simple ingredients on the database, instead of so much industrial stuff.

Hi, I'm Suzanne. I am 35 years old and have two daughters age 8 and 11. I have been fighting the same 50 pounds for about 7 years now. I want to get rid of them and 40 more of their friends for good this time. I need to set a good example for my girls so they won't have to go through life feeling bad about their bodies.

Hi all!
I'm Malin, joined Spark People about a week ago. Right now I've been trying to learn this page and see what it can do for me.

I'm Swedish and live there (here :) ) so I find some of meals in the meal plan a bit odd since they aren't very Swedish. ;) Also some ingredients are't available here either so we shall see if I end up using the meal plan or not.

I'm 32 years old, divorced and slowly working to loose the kilos I gained while married. And I wouldn't mind loosing a few extra along the way. I've already dropped about 10 kilos on my own since January. Almost all my pants are too big! :-O I have to sew them in at the waist if I'm gonna keep wearing them.

I'm fairly active in my everyday life (walk a lot, walk up stairs etc), but I nearly never exercise. However I hope to change that by doing exercise at home. Going to a gym or similar really isn't an option for me, takes too much time and cost too much.

For me this is very much the start of a new lifestyle with a better newer me, hence my username: NyMalin meaning NewMalin.

Hi TG!!! I just joined yesterday, and our stories sound very similar. I gained a huge amount of weight through out my 20's and now I'm working it off slowly but surely! I've lost 50 lbs. since last December and am now in the process of working off the last 50! That's awesome that you've lost over 6 lbs. already!! When I hear that it just motivates me even more! It sounds like you are committed and ready to go! My dog has LOVED taking extra walks, so I'm sure yours will too!

Hi everyone!

I'm 32 years old and although I've lost about 6 lbs already, I still have over 70 to go. I'm a shorty (about 5'3) and my goal weight is around 125 lbs. I gained weight in my mid/late 20s, and it can be a little painful to realize I could have nipped this whole obesity thing in the bud if I'd gotten myself on track (and STAYED on track) six years ago or so.

But there's no sense in crying over spilled milk---so here I am :). I started watching my calories a little over 2 weeks ago, which is how I lost my first 6.5 lbs. Now I want to continue my success by using all the great tools here on SparkPeople. I'm looking forward to sharing with the community to make getting through the holiday season coming up (it's already October!) a little less stressful.

I live with my boyfriend and our small dog, and I work full-time at an administrative job. My boyfriend has always supported me no matter what my weight is, but I do want to be healthier and happier for his sake as well as my own. And I know the dog will enjoy some extra walks!

My mission is to reach my goal weight by the end of next year.

Hey! I am new as of today!!! My name is Angi. I am 35 (make that 29 and holding...). I am a single momma to 4 kids (ages 14, 10, 8 and 6...all girls except the 8 year old) along with being a RN on a busy medical unit in Minneapolis. I am looking to loose between 50 and 70 pounds (I am going to pick the final goal based on how I look and feel when I get near there.)I was on Sparkpeople a while back and had good success with it but I am such a yo-yo'er so I am back and ANGRY that I have gained all this weight. I am DETERMINED to keep it off this time.

Hi, my name is Wendy. I am 33 years old. I am divorced, and have two great dogs. I got divorced two years a go, and lost about 30 pounds. I was at a high of 279. I dropped down to 250, and kept it off for two years, the first time I have ever sustained any kind of weight loss. In the last three months, I have gained back 8 pounds, and realized that I need to make the big changes to lose all the weight, and keep it off this time. So far, I am really excited about it, but realize how hard this is. I look forward to making my goals, even my small ones.

Wendy

Hi everyone...My name is Renee. I am 35 years old and single. Over the last 2 1/2 years I have lost weight from 395 down to my current weight of 250. I have gone lower, but never could maintain the loss. I did all of this with a low carb diet, but in the last 6 months or so I can't seem to stay focused and on plan, so I am ready to try something new. After losing about 50 lbs I began to exercise and got into a fairly regular routine. That continued until I decided to have a lower body lift in June of this past summer to remove A LOT of excess skin. I am glad to have done the surgery, but while recovering I was unable to exercise, so now I have lost my momentum and need to get it back.

I went to a new doctor today and she told me about Sparkspeople. She is a member and has lost almost 50 lbs. I thought I would check it out.

I am excited about all of the tools available to help me with my weight loss. I look forward to getting know y'all as I hang out. Oh in case you are wondering about the "y'all" I'm from Georgia. emoticon

Weight has always been an issue in my family. It doesn't help that we tend to carry the weight in our mid-section. I was able to lose 35lbs in my early 20's, but that was 2-4hrs of cardio 6x/wk. Now I am in my early 30's, I work full time and I have a family. If and when I find time for myself I prefer to spend it on the couch. I really need the motivation (or dedication) to stay focused and curb my appetite while still fitting cardio into my daily routine.

Hello Everyone,

I'm finally going to post. I've been a member of SparkPeople since January I think. I start off great and fall of the wagon. I'm here trying again and plan to get it right one step at a time. I'm 37 yrs old, married with 2 children. I have not set the best example for my children. My DD will be graduating HS this year and along with the other things that I'm trying to instill in her as she moves into the next phase of life, I want to instill the benefits of eating right, physical exercise and being healthy.

Hi! My name is Heather, I'm 34 and have spent most of my adult life overweight. It didn't start that way and I swore it wouldn't happen but here I am at 250 lbs. I'm sure several of you know how it is, it's 10 lbs and then another 10 lbs and then another 10 lbs. But I'm done. I want to be more energetic, more healthy, live longer, and feel comfortable with myself again. And I want to feel sexy again! I'm a fairly active person. I've already lost 87 lbs in the last two years. Looking forward to losing more. Good luck to each of you!

Heather

Hi everyone! My name is Monica, I'm 32 years old, and I've struggled with my weight for only the past few years. I've been married for 9 years, and we don't have any children... yet. I am a mother to 2 whippets, named Comet and Ajax. I just started my journey, and am looking forward to feeling better physically and emotionally, as well as establishing a healthier lifestyle, not only for myself but also my husband. Maybe my success will help him, who knows, but I'm praying. With the kind of support I'm seeing so far on this site, I know I can do it.
