Hi, my name is Cinnamon and I have 60 lbs to lose. I gained a lot of weight after having my thyroid removed, and I have never really done what I need to do to lose it. I'm looking forward to working on this with all of you!

Hi I am determined to become healthy and athletic again. Since grad school, 12 years, ago my weight has gone out of control. I gained 70 pounds in all these years and my knees hurt. I have always loved dancing and playing sports but my enthusiasm disappeared and now I seek to regain the spark to reignite my passion for these activities. I am 5'4", weigh 196.8 and my body fat is around 45% so I need to lose about half of me on the outside to regain my entire self on the inside.

Hi! I am 32, 5'0",and I weigh 246 lbs. I have been struggling with weight all my life and I thought it is time I needed to change this for real. When I first found out I was pregnant with my first son, I ballooned up to 50 lbs for nine months, and after he was born, my weight didn't change at all. I tried Curves, but it didn't help at all as I was building too much muscle and not losing weight at all. When I was pregnant with my second son, my doctor feared I had gestational diabetes, but the tests came back normal. So now, as you can see my ticker, I was at that weight when my first son was born. So since I just signed up two days ago, I will continue to stick to the routine of checking my progress and I will continue to do it until I reach my goal weight. Wish me luck and and good luck to those that are just starting out on sparkpeople.com :)

Hey everyone! My first day here and of course, my first post. I am almost 38, and looking to get my life back. My weight has steadily gotten worse over the years, and made more so by quitting smoking. I have tried a few things, but I like to eat, and don't want to diet. I have finally hit rock bottom when I start to fear sitting in booths at restaurants, and completely avoiding my reflection when I am out and about.

I want to just change my lifestyle. I am looking forward to this journey and excited about being me again.

I am in the same boat. I've never been small but I was a size 13 when I met my husband 17 years ago. I would love to be there again. Maybe we can help support each other through here. Here's to meeting your first goals!! emoticon emoticon

Hi Im 39 I weigh 227 That is one of the hardest things I've had to do in a long time! I have always been fighting my weight since early childhood. I was always the fat one. I've been able to get the weight off when I try but honestly I completly stopped trying when I had my 3rd child. I settled into the "fat" mom roll and have only gotten fatter since she was born 6 years ago. I've managed to gain another 25lbs since then. Last year I lost 10 lbs and then managed to gain back 20. I have terrible eating habbits, I dont eat all day then snack once everyone's gone to bed. I need to get this weight off, I'm uncomfortable in my own skin! I want my life back!

Hi, I am Janeal, I live in Spanaway Washington, and have really gotten into working towards weight loss. I sometimes feel lost on how to count calories and if I am supposed to meet my budget daily or stay below it. I have recently gotten a treadmill and moved the Wii Fit where I can use it. I also got an Ipod Touch for my birthday and have been using an App called LoseIt, which is eye opening. My goal is 130, I want to be able to stand straight and have my chin show, if I stand straight now I do not have a chin at all just neck.

After being humiliated at the movie theater with my 9 year old daughter as my defender, I realized I really need to do something to make myself better, not only for her, but for me also. I am 34 years old, 236 pounds 5 foot 6 and living in a new town where the only people I know are my family. I would like to say I woke up one day and realized I was fat, but the truth is I watched myself go from 140 pounds when I delivered my daughter 9 years ago to almost 240 pounds and did nothing to stop it from happening. I have been lazy and unmotivated and selfish, I didn't realize how being fat is effecting my family, tonight was an eye opener...time to make a change.

Hello everyone! I have decided that it is time to stop spending money on other programs and give away my autonomy and responsibility to my own weight loss. I am going to get it done right and I hope that there will be a few like minded people out there who can share this journey with me. I am married with a nine year old son, I'm 35 years old.

Hi! I have been a member since November and been hitting things consistent since 1/1. I am 39 years old with three children. I have struggled with weight since I was probably 10. I have lost a few times through the years, but never the right way. When I do start the correct way, I tend to give up. My goal is to look and feel better at 40 than I did at 30. My goal is to loose 80 pounds but that doesn't even get the "correct" weight I should be at, just a weight I think I would feel much better at. I am looking for some support...I am feeling like I am not seeing much change(12.5 pounds) but am getting to feel I can never see that 80 pounds loss. Any help or motivation would be greatly appreciated!

I am in my early thirties and looking forward to giving up these 50 pounds. I am a southern girl and joined Spark today. I began my weight loss journey last week on Tuesday February 9th. As of yesterday I am down 5 pounds leaving me with 45 pounds to go. My nutritionist has placed me on a 1400 calorie eating regiment which is a new venue for me. I have two children and I enjoy outdoor activities when it is warm outside. I work three jobs so this is a new is going to be interesting to see how I am going to manage getting in some exercise. emoticon

Hey everyone. I'm 38 years old and I work locally for a school system. I'm fortunate enough to have a gym at my job. When I started the gym over a year ago my weight topped out at 277lbs. I got back into the gym and lost 13 pounds. I can't remember how long it took me. Maybe 6 weeks. I was lifting more weights and eating right but was doing no cardio. We started an office biggest looser challenge a three times in that year and I joined an got down to 214. I up at 245 but the BMI chart says I need to be 195 so that't the goal.

Hi all

I am 39 and am determined to get back down to my "fighting weight" by the time I turn 40. I have always been battling with my weight and have let the pounds creep back on during the last 5 years so have gone from svelt to chubby so slowly I hardly noticed. I have 2 children who are both over 18 so want to set a good example to them as well as being able to keep myself healthy, fit and alive for them!!

Any help most welcome!!

hi cyberworld I'm new. 211 lost three pounds been working out since July 09, cutting calories but slowed it down due to a couple med problems still trying to clear them up. Going for my physical this year cause I'm 35. I like doing yoga and pilates on my days off gym. Since spring is on the way will be outside more. I don't believen dieting, but call it cutting calories and learning to eat better for my metabolism, age, build, and blood type. Don't have accountablitiy but guess I find it on here SP!

Whether you think that you can, or that you can't, you are usually right.

Betty - Hello! I am in complete agreement with you! I really feel like this time I will be able to succeed. I am a new(er) mom... my only son is fourteen months old, and I am 32 years old. I have been heavy my entire life, and although this is not the heaviest I have been, I know that if I do not start taking care of myself that I will continue to lack the quality of life that I wish I had. It is time to put to practice all of those nutritional and fitness tips I have picked up on my weight loss (and gained back!) journey! My biggest motivator: I want to be able to be here and be healthy for my husband and my son. My life is too amazing to settle for anything less! And so is yours! emoticon

Hi, My name is Betty. I joined Spark on Sunday. I have found it to be very do-able (I will not use the word easy) but I can manage. I think I do well with lists, I follow my meal plan and I am ok. That is not to say that I am perfect, otherwise I would not be here! But, I am finding the group thing and the tracking very motivating. Maybe this time I am just mentally at that point you need to be at, whatever as long as it works.

I have one and eight year old daughters. I want to be able to set good examples for them and instill healthy habits in them.

I too would love to see 199 very soon. I realize this time around (maybe wisdom has come with my 35 years) it will not be fast but it will be.

I look forward to going thru and keeping you all along with me for this great journey!

Hi everyone, I am a 39yr old that has tried and tried in the game of weight loss. My husband has about 15lbs he put on last yr to lose and I have about 50 (which has been on a slight increase since the day I was born)! It seems absolutely impossible to see that far ahead, but I really want to do this! I hope that we all can help each other on this journey :)

I just joined myself. I had recently lost about 65 pound, but I didn't handle the stress of working and going back to school last sememster so I gained about 30 pounds back. I was more than half way to my goal, so now I have to back track. I'm 38 and live in Texas. I'm handling this sememster better so far. We'll see how it goes.

Well I just joined today. Trying to figure out how I got here and how I can change to lose some weight. I love food and I love to eat. I need to find a way to balance this. If I am going to be successful I need to figure out how to make this a life change and not just a thing of the moment.

I just joined tonight. Not really sure what to say. I am 39 years old and have always had a problem with my weight. I have been able to maintain the same weight for the past 10 years, but it is not a healthy weight by any means. I saw myself gaining weight but did absolutely nothing to stop it. But that is all about to change! I am so uncomfortable with how I feel, not only physically but emotionally as well. My weight has stopped me from living life to its fullest. It has turned me into a person who is shy and affraid to meet new people.
I have finally set my mind to losing weight, getting healthy and becoming the person I know I was meant to be. An outgoing, friendly face that people want to meet. I look forward to the adventures that are to come and hope to meet some good people here at SparkPeople along the way! :)

Hi everyone! I am a 32 year old married mom from Canada. I have 10 year old twin girls that I love dearly but make me want to pull my hair out at least two or three times daily. I have always been a big girl...even when I had no extra weight on...I'm 5'10 and big boned so I've never been small but after I had the girls 10 years ago I never managed to lose the pregnancy pounds. I have been carrying an extra 50 lbs for the past 10 years and I think I have finally had enough. I've always had problems with my knees but obviously carrying around an extra 50 lbs is not helping that situation. The scale is stuck for me....I've been the same weight forever...I never gain any more but I never lose either. I have been on Sparkpeople for about 2 weeks now and this is the first time in a long time that I feel really motivated and have been able to stay motivated. I know it's only been 2 weeks but for the first time in a long time I feel great...the scale hasn't moved much yet but for the first time I actually feel like this is it...I can really do this!!! Part of me is still afraid that my bubble will burst and I'll just go back to being my chips and chocolate loving couch potato self but I think this site is the one thing that can keep me into the healthy eating, excercise loving person I'm becoming. I love reading everyones posts and hearing that I am not alone in my struggles. Keep it up everyone...we need eachothers support. I know we can do it :)))

Hey everybody. I'm Diana. I am 35 years old and I would like to lose about 50 pounds. I have been overweight for as long as I can remember. I lost almost 40 pounds several years ago and have gained most of it back. I know most of what I need to do to lose the weight, but lack the motivation to do it. I also recently injured my right knee so I am having a really hard time finding motivation to work out and don't really know if I should just yet or even what exercises I can do right now.
Anyway...I can't wait to make lots of new friends and lose a bunch of weight. :) emoticon

Hello everyone, my name is Kelly. I am 34 years old and want to lose 70 pounds. That number to me sounds huge. Over the last year I have regained the 35 pounds I worked so hard to lose. It was a physically and emotionally heartbreaking year and I turned back to food and my old destructive ways. I am not happy with how I look, or feel, but it is a new year and things are looking up again. I have moved back home and will soon be getting a place with my boyfriend and his kids. I am doing a job I love, working at a daycare, and I am back around family. I'm looking forward to the future, to making more positive changes, and to getting this weight off once and for all.

Hi everyone. My name is Rachelle and today is my first day on Spark. I have struggled with my weight since I was a child and it is now totally out of control. I am hoping the support from this site will help me get things back on track. I have 18 months until I turn 40 and I would really like to enter that new decade fitter and trimmer and healthier than I have been in my thirties.

I am married and am a mother of a wonderful son named Zachary who will be 4 years old in a couple of months. My main motivation to get fit is to make sure that I am around for many years to raise him and to see him graduate, get married, give me grandchildren, etc. And I want to set a good healthy example for him so that he does not have the weight and health issues I have had.

My immediate goal is to have my weight start with a 1 for the first time in about 7 years!!! It will require losing 65 pounds for me to get myself below that nasty 200 lb mark. Once I have acheived that huge milestone I will start trying to figure out what a truly healthy weight would be.

Hello everyone, today is my first day here at SP. I am 38 yrs. old, married with 2 children (10 & 7). I work full time as a licensed home daycare provider with very long days (usually 12- 13 hour days), my day starts either @ 4:30 or 5:30 am. I belonged to another online diet group about 2 years ago and I lost 25 lbs and felt great but life took over and I gained it all back and now I am having a hard time getting back into the grove, but something the other day hit me and I decided it was time for a family change so I decided to take charge. My goal is to lose 50 lbs by January 1 2011, so I hope this is the place that will finally help me lose the weight and keep it off for good. I look forward to all the support and friendships that I will have. emoticon

Hello, everyone! My name is Suzi. I'm 37, married with three kids (ages 20, 18 and 14, so only one at home now) and currently a stay-at-home homeschooling mom and student in Northern Minnesota. I'm studying for my Holistic Nutritional Consultant certificate. I eat really healthy food, just WAAAYYY too much of it, lol. I love to cook and love to eat, so I'm carrying an extra 74 ponds. I've been on every diet over the years and keep losing and re-gaining the same 20 pounds. This is the year that I finally lose it all. My goal is to reach 145 or size 10 by New Year's Eve 2010. With all the great tools available and the great community support here at Spark People, I'm sure I'll be able to do it!

I am 36 years old and 245lbs, my target goal is too loose 50lbs by my birthday (Aug 14) I would love to be more active and healthy and not have to take blood pressure medicine and also because I am taking my first vacation to the Bahamas with 5 of my closet girlfriends. I want to be fit and lean in 2010. Good luck to all of you.

Hi everyone! I am a 32, no kiddos, and not yet married. I have finally reached the point in my life where if I don't change my lifestyle now I never will. Over the holidays I watched as my dad suffered a near 2nd heart attack and went to the ER. I don't want to be there myself. So here I am losing weight and getting healthy.

Hello I am a 31 year old mother of two young very active girls that I can not keep up with. I have lost weight in the past but always gain it back plus. I hate to work out but I have recently found a plan in which I feel fits me, that will help build the foundation for me to get motivated. My goal is not to be skinny but to be healthy for myself & my family. I can use all the support I can get so bring it on!!

Hello everyone! I'm new to this site and just getting my feet on the ground. There are so many great tools here, I cannot get over it!

I am 35 (in 2 days) and married and living in Boston. I am here to learn more about myself, get a fresh look at healthy eating and plan to lose at least 50 pounds this year. As a birthday gift to myself I have joined this site, joined a new gym, and am working out a schedule with my "work-out buddy" for additional motivation.

Thanks for all the great posts and motivation! This is such a wonderful site. emoticon
