Mags -- I used to dread the treadmill (I don't know if you're running outside or indoors) until I started doing intervals - and now I've been running longer than I ever have before!

What I do:

I repeat the following sequence about 4-5 times, but try to mix it up depending on how tired or energized I am each time.

I do 1 minute intervals... so it ends up looking like this:

5.0 mph - 1 min
5.5 mph - 1 min
6.0 mph - 1 min
6.5 mph - 1 min
7.0 mph - 1 min
7.5 mph - 1 min
8.0 mph - 1 min

Once you've made it to 8 you return to 5 again and work your way back up. It sounds aggressive but really it helps me to chop it up into small doable completions!

I jogged for 10 minutes and walked for 30. I really want to develop a running habit but having a lot of difficulty. Once I've jogged for 10 minutes, I just can't push any farther. Does anyone have tips to learn how to start really running?

I did a 15 minute HIIT video and also a 10 minute ab workout. My HRM said I burned 207 calories in the 25 minute workout!

I did 3 ten minute YouTube cardio and aerobic workout videos. It's hotter than Hades where I live so YouTube has been a lifesaver when it comes to keeping me moving.

i just got back to school on monday, and the first week of classes is always one of the busiest. BUT i have managed to squeeze in some quality workouts (90 min, 40 min), and i think they're part of the reason that i've been able to handle as much as i have this week. its kind of like a subconscious cheerleader - if you can do that, of course you can finish ________ tonight! even though it seems like a burden to fit in sometimes, exercise will help your health, efficiency and peace of mind. keep at it guys!!
