Tomorrow, tomorrow...But seriously, tomorrow IS the day I'm DONE with all the holiday extras I've allowed myself. I will be back on track, firmly and strictly, and get back to goal. Of course, I want this to happen in, say, three days. However, to be honest, it took about three months to get to where I am, so it will take at least that to get back. I am looking forward to feeling that good, clean, lean feeling in my tummy, instead of this bloated lethargy I feel tonight. After I get back to goal weight, which I know now from experience I CAN DO, and I know HOW GOOD I FEEL when there, THEN my new resolution for the year is: learn how to enjoy ONE bite of something special, like chocolate. I really and truly want to learn that. For me, quantity seems to be an important thing, the more the better, and I want to change that about myself. My word for last year was "Savor," but I didn't master it. So I'm keeping that word for one more year.

Its been over a month since I last checked in and I decided its time to get back and down to business. I really am still within my range but inching towards the high end, so time to buckle down. Not really sure why I stopped tracking, but I did. It has been a busy month as having a new leader dog puppy takes more time, deer hunting and the holidays didn't help either. Its been really crazy since the Tuesday before Christmas as my 14 week old puppy slipped on the ice while running in the snow and fractured her right hind legs so that makes thinks really interesting trying to keep a cast dry and unchewed in Wisconsin during the winter. Also the vet says she should be kept quiet and that is really a joke. But we keep on trying. Even with a cone on (which she has figured how to get off) she still has figured out how to chew on her cast so now I have a sock taped over the whole cast so she can't get to it. So it has been interesting. Take care all and I promise to check in daily now.

MOVING AND MAINTAINING. Yesterday is gone, let it go, tomorrow hasn't happened, don't long for it. Today is the present .........enjoy it

Hi Team.

I'm hanging on. I've been sick but trying to keep up with my fitness routine anyway. I ate terribly yesterday. My stomach is bothering me and only one thing sounded good - fries and grilled cheese. It was a mistake, of course, and not only did my stomach complain, I mentally berated myself the rest of the day. It's exhausting being an imperfect perfectionist.

5.5 mi run done. Hit a personal best for the first 5k of the workout too. Woo hoo!

Toni, what menu did you choose? I am having people over in a couple weeks and since I do not usually entertain, I am not sure at all.

If anyone else has suggestions about party menus, I would sure appreciate it.

Happy first Sunday of 2015!

Started the day a bit late, got to the gym just in time to set up. A lady noticed I didn't have my hair braided and complimented my hair. I had to confess I ran late, hence the quick ponytail and headband combo. It felt odd that someone noticed something like that emoticon
The class was awesome, first Body Pump of 2015. I'm sure I'll be feeling it tomorrow!
Hope everyone has a great first week back at work, starting tomorrow, of course.

Bess, congrats on not feeling you have to go on a diet this month! I'm sure your new moderate habits will take care of the likely water (mostly) weight.

Swede, glad you had fun dress shopping! Loved seeing the pics.

Kellie, can't help but wonder how big your house is, though even in my 468 sq. ft, if there's a will, there would be a way to get steps in. But SoCal weather doesn't let me use it as much of a legitimate excuse not to get outside to walk.

Mandy, my eating mentor is actually a person who came at it from the habit angle. He wrote years ago about how unsuccessful most NY resolutions are and some of the reasons why. The quick life overhaul system works for very few, but it gets a lot of press and appeals to our desire to have the problems over with yesterday. We know now that it's more common for small changes to impact in big ways, often by making other small changes more palatable.

Enjoy your walk, Suzanne! Phebe, isn't it fun when walking is so functional?

Everyone else, enjoy every bite!

Got pretty full at the drumming event I went to last night, and did not allow myself to regret it at all. I had wanted to eat more, and I knew what the effect might be; I made a choice to make the trade-off. It felt very good to be quite full, but I also saw that I don't want to repeat it often. I don't really have this kind of event come up much: I would choose differently if it did. This morning I am pretty easily eating lightly. I allow myself more leeway with planning on weekends, so I'm not sure how I will work in my other meals around a Buddhist book study I am going to check out this afternoon and a webinar I will watch at home starting in the early evening. Plus, new Downton Abbey tonight! But that's not until 9. I do know what types and portions of foods I will choose: I have no plans to eat out or have "rarely" or even "sometimes" foods.

Got someone coming tomorrow to help me buy a used computer and get it set up. Incentive to straighten up a bit more, though I am working with trying to do less worrying about the approval of others, especially if my behavior can do no real damage to them. The main concern is to make it convenient for him to do what he needs to do.

Exercise is optional on Sundays, though I may have time for a walk after the book study. Unfortunately, the book study happens at the same time as a dance class I sometimes go to, but the book is an unusual offering, and it's only for a few months.

Mandy!!!! You said the very best thing, I think.

It makes a lot more sense to build a new habit over 12 months than to try to change everything at once.

Back home and back to eating plain and on track. Had a great tine with the family but it was very cold and we did not do enough outside running around. Going to the Y tomorrow to start a regular schedule

Had a great day - walked all over, found the Eiffel bridge, got in 5.5 miles, and kept my calories in range. Still drinking my water though I'm at over 10 cups. Just one of those days when everything falls into place and healthy options are easy.

Today advantage of a sunny afternoon to go for a long walk. Returning home Thursday and will go back to work on Monday. I will be glad to be back home and more in charge of meals. It is supposed to be rainy for the next few days so in-door exercise is likely. Happy New Year to everyone.

Today is an All-Smoothie Day for me; DH gets lean meat and veggies. I cope with a chronic digestive condition and when I get off track I am severely punished, like today. As it happens, I richly deserve the punishment so no whining.

Here's a suggested reading: "Resolutions That Stick" a Kindle book by S.J. Scott. Note that if you don't have a Kindle, amazon will download Kindle books and a free Kindle reader to your computer. This particular book is interesting in that it talks about 12 common resolutions (lose weight, get fit, be more productive, start your own business and so on) and then makes one monthly suggestion for each resolution. It makes a lot more sense to build a new habit over 12 months than to try to change everything at once.

Bess: How about stepping to Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumblebee?" You would be a YouTube sensation.

Hi al!

Yesterday was a challenge as far as steps. Lousy weather, couldn't even walk the dog so I had to keep moving around the house. I took down some of the Christmas decorations so a lot of back and forth and up and down stairs. Did some housework, walked laps around the house for 20 minutes, did the Spark Jump Rope video then 30 minutes on the elliptical. Boy was I pooped last night.

Today the tree comes down along with a few more decorations. I could use a nap!

Happy Sunday!

Good morning.

I hope everyone savors this first Sunday of the new year. Wish we were all with you, Bess, stepping with the classics! We would have fun. Thanks for the featured blog tip, I'm going off to read it in a sec.

I'm cooking for friends tonight, just haven't decided what... I guess I'd better get deciding. There will be healthy food.

great day dress shopping yesterday for DD's wedding (photos on blog); today she will help me pick the dress from the ones we put on hold.

we made our step goal, ST streak continued. food choices - some good, some not so good, calories still within range, but back on track today.

already did ST, but it will be tough to get in steps today with rain predicted. will do our best...

love the image of stepping to the classics (i wonder how it would be to respighi's country air and dances?:-)

It's my last day of vacation and I'm not quite sure how I'm going to spend it. the weather is not inspiring - rain and meh temperatures. I'll get in a walk and I plan on getting in a little step aerobics too. It's a favorite wintertime exercise because I can do it in the living room. So wrap your brain around this - Dvorak's Slavonic Dances on the CD player and me in gym shorts hopping off and on the step - stepping to the classics?

I am 2 lbs over my goal weight - which is too bad - I'd like to be at goal - but then I look at this from the opposite side and I think - Wow! Only 2 lbs? Does this mean I'm not going on a diet in January? Feels weird.

I loved reading TinaJane's featured blog post this morning - though she doesn't seem as disoriented as I - she's in the same place and she expresses herself beautifully.

Blessings and gifts to you all this first Sunday of 2015.

Good morning!

Dogs had to go so I'm checking in and going back to bed. With DD and GD in town we are having company and going to visit and yesterday was way over on calories.

This must stop.

Today it will be lean and clean and some form of exercise. They go home this morning.

Hope everyone has a good day!
