Good morning, I had big plans to at least get the grass close to the house mowed. It has been so long since we could mow that the grass is waist high. Because of the drought then flooding, all our grass that you know died and we have native grass, Mowed it looks almost the same, tolerates the drought, but when the rains come grows like crazy. Well the rains came again last night and it will be several days before we can mow. When the grass is too high it chokes the mower.

Who ever thought it was a good idea to put a pop up add where it was next to imposable to scroll down without rolling over it needs to think again.

Good morning, I woke up with one whopper of a sinus headache, and it had been draining to my stomach all night. I felt like crap, nothing seemed to help, then my daughter called and before she could say a thing, a little voice said "Grandma, I have a car and it has wheels like McQueen" Suddenly I was tired and a little woozy, but my headache was gone. Amazing what a car with wheels like McQueen can do.

Good Afternoon, Well my job problems might be over before they began. A business owner asked if I would come by for a couple of hours to help her with a new payroll software program. I did. As I was getting ready to leave she asked if I would come by every Friday and do her payroll. yes I can do that , business is growing so fast, I have been doing all the bookkeeping and now am going to have to be out of the office. Do you think you could stay longer on Fridays and do Accounts Payable, it might turn into a full time job. Yes I can stay longer to do Accounts Payable and, I didn't say it, but would love helping you a couple hours turn into a full time job.

Good evening, Well things aren't going well at work. I was working for a start up company. Years ago I wouldn't even think of doing that, but decided to take a chance. The company hasn't been doing well, in fact it never really got off the ground. Both the owners have other companies, one of them tried to get me in her company but as the start up company fell off apart and she was having to pay my whole salary it became evident I was a drain on her other company. This morning she told me she couldn't afford to give me more the 15 hours week and then this afternoon she told me she wasn't sure how long she could keep it up. Looks like soon I'll be looking for work again.

Happy Memorial Day, emoticon emoticon

I woke up this morning thinking a Mack truck hit me sometime in the night. The sun is out and there are patches of blue sky, so I go out off and on. If the clouds would just brake a little more. I can't stay outside too long. It was 78 at 6 this morning and the weather person was saying how nice it would be if it wasn't for the humidity, but we better enjoy it because it was going to get hot and muggy.

Good afternoon, I'm still fighting with this sines thing. The cloud cover holds the pollution in and pollution is what makes me sick. Hopefully we will get a brake in the clouds soon. I broke down and got some sines medicine, but I don't like the side effects so don't take it as often as maybe I should.

There was a strange SUV in the ditch catty corner from my house at 5:30 in the morning when I went to walk the dog. There is nothing strange about a car in the ditch around here, except this one was at a strange angle and all you have to do around here if you go in the ditch is go to the ranch and they will pull you out, but maybe it was late and he didn't want to wake them. I couldn't see how he could have driven in that way. I had to go out and just before I left a policeman was beating on the window asking a very disheveled man if he was OK. Later a neighbor came by and asked me about what happened. I told him all I knew. He said that before it was all said and done there where 4 police cars, an ambulance and wrecker. I told him I'm sure the police had to call a wrecker and the man wasn't alright, but what was with 4 police cars I have no idea. That is a lot of excitement for this neck of the woods, well field around here.

Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works. Anything that’s invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty- five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it. Anything invented after you’re thirty-five is against the natural order of things.

Douglas Adams (1952 - 2001), The Salmon of Doubt

Good noon, I took Mutt to the vet $400 to give him his shots and tell me he is healthy. After the vet I took Mutt for a walk along one of the bayous near the house we walked till Mutt was panting and I took him to the dog park next to the trail to get a drink. There is a small dog area and a large dog area. The small dog area was packed. A man that takes toy dogs when toy dog rescue has one that has been hanging around was there with 10 little dogs. Blind, deaf, missing limbs that kind of thing. The little dog area is small, so many people will come over to the big dog area when the little dog area is crowded, when their dog likes to run or their other dog is a big dog. Today my 50 pound Mutt was the smallest dog in the big dog area. even the puppies were over 90 pounds. Mutt didn't want to play with the other dogs, but didn't snap or anything when they greeted him, he just walked around till the rain said it was time to go. Instead of sitting on the bench I walked around watching the dogs. My tracker says we spent 90 min between the trail and the dog park.

Good morningI wore this morning to an e mail from SP that I'm a motivator. Thanks everyone, I thought I was gabby.

I'm off today, but had big plans, wash the dogs, shopping, things like that. Now it is thundering and lightning and radar can't decide if a big storm is going to hit us, or if like yesterday, just threaten us and go clabber Houston.

Alice Thinks Sometimes Maybe Perhaps

God Afternoon, You get two quotes for the price of one today. Yesterday I went to the San Antonio Boardwalk. DD had gotten us the motel. It was .5 miles from the boardwalk. Well maybe the motel was close, but it didn't look like a good place to walk. I asked at the desk about the best way to get to the boardwalk and was told to go out the back door take a right and it would be on my left. What I knew of the boardwalk was where all the shops were and it was .5 of a mile, but 3 steps out the back of the motel was another part of the boardwalk. A walking path along the river. No shops, some joggers, but not crowed.

DH and I walked that path. DH has CP, walks slow, has to rest often and used a cane. DH said he was sorry he had to stop, he knew I wanted to go on. I told him I was ready to turn around when he was and although I hadn't walked as fast as I would have I felt like we got a good walk in. When we got back to the motel I was looking at a map of the path we had walked. DH asked how far we had walked. I told him I wasn't real sure where we turned around, but thought it was about 4.5 miles, maybe closer to 5. He said no way he could walk anywhere near that far. When my tracker unloaded after we got home it said we walked 4.25 miles. and it took us 200 mins, not counting rest stops. We were going to go to the boardwalk everyone talks about today, but mother nature had other ideas.

Good morning. I'm fine. I live west of the hardest hit flooded area and I would have to drive though it to get to work. I only work 4 hours today and had planned on them being this morning. I texted my boss and told her I was giving the water time to dean off and was changing it to this afternoon. She came back with just plan on 8 hours tomorrow. I want you safe.

Good morning, Mutt and I didn't walk this morning, raining.

I don't normally say anything about my steps, to many of you are trying to just make the minimum recommended. Since I slipped and said something and so many have commented on it. 23,000 is about what I expect in a day. I work hard to keep me steps below 25,000. My ankle complains bitterly the next day if I go over by much. SP says my high was when I waking the floors at wal-mart, I got 31,000. I'm not bragging, thats the way I am. I have always been a walker. Mom says I would open the back gate and go for a walk. She would look out and a neighbor would be walking me home like you would return a dog that got out of the yard. Even 50 pounds ago I would go for a walk before fixing breakfast. hen I heard that you should get 10,000 steps a day to stay healthy, I got a pedometer. I had 10,000 steps before lunch. I'm a bookkeeper and days I work I'll only get about 18,000 steps. O got 18,500 yesterday. So how do I do it. 100 steps at a time.

There is a long way, 70 steps to the bathroom at work and a short waym 10 steps. I take the long way coming and going.

I park as far from the door of a store as is practical. This can be 100 steps each way. Also it is easier to find a parking space.

I'm told that for your health you should get up once an hour and move for 2 min. That is about 100 steps.

My boss sits at her desk in the room next to mine for hours on end texting me if she needs anything. I get my fanny out of the chair and go into her office. Ok that isn't 100 steps, but I got up and moved.

The big thing 2 dogs that think a walk is 3 miles. that is 7,000 steps

Good morning, I'm dragging today, but I guess I have a good reason, a reason anyway. Yesterday the church DH goes to had service early because they were hosting the Greek Festival. After service we went to the festival. The SPAT tracks 10 min continual movement as exercise. I kept stoping and stating as I visited the different booths. Then I went over to DD for a Mothers day BBQ. I knew my exercises would be limited there, Well it wasn't the boys wanted Grandma to play games that involved chasing them, again I didn't think I went 10 min between stops. After dinner the boys wanted a walk. We walked 30 min. I was sure hoping that put me over my goal, I was beat. I got home and uploaded my info. only had 23,000 steps, but 263 mins of exercise. Believe me my goal is nowhere near 4 hours.

Good morning, I woke up with big plans starting with bathing the dogs. My ankle said it had plans. Exercise today is in short spirits and off my feet. My biggest problem is this thing called I can't take pain meds and my head firmly believes that pastries will stop the pain, and DH decided we should go to the bread store for breakfast. They have the coffee I like, yes, but they also have bread fixed every way but good for you.

Good afternoon, I'm sitting for my grandsons. They are easy to watch. I have trains. There is just something about lithe boys and wooden trains. When DD asked me to watch them I asked what they eat. She told me they weren't into veggies, but wanted oranges, and apples with their dinner and grapes with their snack. Before DD left the house the boys told her they would be fine, Grandma had trains and took good walks. Think our afternoon is planned out.

Happy Mayday. emoticon emoticon emoticon When I was young, we would pick wild flowers and run up to peoples houses, ring their door bell, leave the flower on there steps and try to get away before they saw us. When I got older I would get to work early and leave one on each persons desk, I was the one with the key and open the office up everyday. Then I'd sit back and listen as the people came in. About 2/3 would think they had a secret admirer. The rest wanted to know who the commie was. I can't leave flower on your door step so virtual flowers it is. 'm home early, not much going on on Fridays, so the boss just kicks us out.

We are having some cool weather. It is in the 50's at night and low 80's during the day. The dogs are loving it.

A 14 page bank statement and the person that entered checks in the computer, I know she just made up check numbers and if she couldn't remember if she had put a check in or not she ut it in again with a different number.

I got an E-mail from Mom. She sends out Alice thinks everyday so we know she is OK. Well she sent out an email Friday she wasn't thinking this weekend. She had decided that she couldn't take care of a 4 bedroom house on and acre and half, so got an apt in town. The told her it wouldn't be ready till the first of May, but Wednesday told her it was ready. She was so happy. She had a meeting in town Friday that would last long enough so she would have to drive the 40 miles in the mountains in the dark, Then go back Sunday for church, drive home after a long day and drive back on Monday for a DR appt. She decided to take the first car load to the apt Friday morning and part of it would be an air mattress and camp chair She said no electric, no phone and no internet, but so peaceful.

These long summer days are riving my nuts. Mutt and I like our last walk to be after dark. That is just to late now.

Good morning. We had one heck of the t storm this morning, but most of it went north of us, folks in North Houston hope you are all fine, But I did get my shopping done. For some reason about an hour ago I developed this headache.

I know most of you are way too young for this to mean anything, but it was so funny. I was eating lunch with my boss. We were just talking about this and that, when she told me she didn't know anything about my FIL, but while she was building her business her husband would constantly tell her She was Driving Nails in his Coffin. One of Floyd's songs "Your Diving Nails in my Coffin".

To show labels can confuse you, I have been on a low salt diet for going on 40 years now. DH joined me a year ago. He saw that I got some lightly salted rice cakes. He said something about me eating something that was salted. I had him read the label, my rice cake that said it was lightly salted had half the salt of his piece of toast that said nothing about salt.

For all these gadgets that we are told tell how healthy we are. DS took her youngest to a new DR. The Dr checked him, gave him a real good physical. Then looked at my sister, well his BMI says he is border line obese and I need to put him on a weight lose diet and exercise routine, his pinch test says he is under weight and malnourished and I need to start him on meal replacement snacks, all his labs show him to be fine, whatever your doing keep doing it. Her son is on the high school swim team.

"If you must begin then go all the way, because if you begin and quit, the unfinished business you have left behind begins to haunt you all the time."
– Chögyam Trungpa

Good morning, The sun is out today and so the water is evaporating, but that is making it muggy. I've spent most of the weekend so far with no electric. Out here in the country that also means no water or internet. That would be why I wasn't on yesterday. We just had a tree that was shorting the transformer out. They fixed it and sent for someone to trim the tree. Before they came a substation in town froze, whatever that means, and left 40,000 people without electric. They came first and before they could get out here the transformer had shorted out again. At 5:30 this morning I wore to chainsaws trimming the tree and 30 min later the lights.

Where we are we use to be a rice patty and flood easy. Duke thinks this is great. He can race around a flooded backyard. Now my yellow lab is a chocolate lad. He will be an itchy mess later, but he sure is enjoying it now and there is no sense in bathing him till it drys.

"We cannot live for ourselves alone. Our lives are connected by a thousand invisible threads, and along these sympathetic fibers, our actions run as causes and return to us as results."
– Herman Melville

We had quite a storm last night. DH said I looked tired and was I going to take my shower and hit the bed. i told him I was going to try to stay up a little longer so i wouldn't wake too early in the morning. I waited too long, a half hour later we lost electric. I live in the country, no electric means no water. Yes we keep 3 gallon jugs of water for our cooler for drinking. The electric was on this morning. Come hurricane season when the electric is out longer we will keep 5 jugs full at all times and when a hurricane is 72 hours out start filling other things for non drinking water.
