They say you should "write it down" to accomplish it. I remember when I was auditioning for the Dallas symphony and every day for 6 months I would write down the excerpt name, tempo, and minutes that I spent on it. It was my best audition. I didn't go to the next round, but I was really happy.

I think I will do something like that this year. I think it builds confidence in knowing something really well.

Write what I want down and have an action behind it to support the goal.

This year I will.....

ice skate 2 times a month minimum - buy a punch card at the ice skating rink, 8 punches at a time.
learn to speak French better by looking at my French calendar and learning a new word everyday.
walk 10K everyday... wear my fitbit everyday
log my food in Daily ... check in to Spark daily to add exercise and food intake
Play my oboe 30 minutes to 1 hour a day. add the task to the taskbar in Spark to check off. and learn new excerpts or pieces that I have never played before.
Save up for a European vacation for my family. Each week I teach a few kids, but I can easily put that aside for a trip and in a few years I will have enough to take my family to Europe for a week. My daughter graduates in 2023 and I will take her there for a high school gift. I have $1200 saved already. I am very excited.

somewhat. I think it is good to make goals, but I don't like the idea of starting the year off with a goal that may be unattainable. I think it is better to make little achievable goals throughout the year and make changes that way. I could see making a list of things I would like to accomplish, but not being strict about when or how. Life does get in the way.
