I personally can't deal with brand new infants, they totally scare me - but I know from having 3 younger brothers that putting on clothes takes forever - easier is best. Snaps all over the place, one piece, just make it as easy as possible.

And don't even think about tucking in shirts til the kidlet is about 2 - baby bellies just don't keep shirts in.

Anna, the shorts are really cute - just make sure the shorts have snaps in the crotch for easy diaper changing. Which is why the onesies, while less "formal" for babywear, are so easy, just one piece to slip on the kidlet.

I have to tell you, yesterday I went for my pedicure. This semi-street person DH and I know (and occasionally give $ to) washed my car (unasked, but worth $10 so fairly okay) - and he was wearing an adult tuxedo T shirt!!! Looked just like this onesie:

For a friend of mine, her water broke in the AM. Contractions didn't get started - after a while, the dr gave her pitocin - she had the baby (first child) in about 90 minutes. Wow.

Thanks Kerry! I think I will definitely do the tuxedo since I have tuxedo shoes for him too! LOL!

Phebess - I think doctors can still break a woman's membranes (they did for my sister), but you are right, they use Pitocin now to induce labor. I heard that with inductions, the contractions are much more painful and that there is a higher risk of C-sections, higher risk for baby, etc., that is why I hope he comes before they decide to induce me.

My mom (had 5 kids) was induced for several of us - back then, the dr would break the water - but I guess they do meds now?

Great! I'm wearing a beautiful black brocade jacket with a beautiful black skirt.

I will definitely carry the wipies! Thanks!:)

I wish he would come today or at least by tomorrow (his due date). I may have him late though, but my doctor will not let me go more than 5 days past my due date, so I hope he will definitely be here soon so that I do not have to be induced.

Wear washable fabrics, and carry tons of baby wipes - they're good for wiping up spit up and all, and gentle enough for clothes. (We use them in my art classes.)

Dark colors are key.

(Really, I no longer buy light tablecloths, I stick with dark colors so spills don't show.)

I was hoping you'd be having the kid today!!!

You're both right. Now I am thinking that if I wear my nice outfit, there it goes with spit-up! Help! LOL!

Phebess, I have some very cute tuxedo shoes for him (a friend bought me them) and they would be perfect with the tuxedo onesie! LOL!

LOL, Anna - my DH is a SLOB! Really! He'll take a shirt out of the closet and I'll say it's dirty and he says no, it's just pre-stained! AGH!

My sister always managed to keep her clothes clean as a child, and could get away with a white dress. I still haven't learned how to do that!

And babies - they just don't have any control over bodily functions. Bring lots of diapers and spare clothes. You'll get used to it. And I think babies are why so many moms carry huge purses (instead of diaper bags).

I LOVE the tuxedo onesies!!!!!! Just way adorable!

Oh my goodness Phebess, you are too funny about your DH! LOL! Mine is the same! Hahaha!

You are right...white will get dirty, especially because he will only be about 3 weeks old and I will have to take breaks to breastfeed him throughout the reception.

Thank you for the links and I will definitely check some of these cute onesies out!

I have to add, DH and I bought his grand-niece a "formal onesie" at Old Navy - it was the basic black onesie with a string of pearls printed on it - so cute, so funny for a one month old girl!

Anyhow - having grown up with 3 younger brothers plus seven nieces and nephews, I just hesitate to put a baby in all white. It starts out looking lovely, but, well, babies are babies and clothes don't stay clean for long. At least in our family.

So - I hope the kidlet decides to come out soon - before you pop! (Maybe he wants to be a 4th of July baby!)

Good luck!!!!!

It's adorable. He'll be cute in it.

I would hesitate to have all white, however - babies invariably mess up light colors. (Actually, males do - my husband still messes up light colors, spilling food all down his front. At least he doesn't spit up, LOL.)

Do you have a second choice in a darker color? (Do they make onesie tuxedos?)

Hi ladies,

My due date is this Wed., and I am ready to pop, hopefully sometime this week.

Anyway, about 3 weeks after I give birth we have a very formal wedding to attend. I really want to dress Maximus Giorgio really cute and I have searched everywhere for something very nice for a newborn. I found this 4-piece set and was wondering what you all think of it:
