For any one interested in the free historic walking tour of Escondido, CA this Saturday, July 8th:
We are supposed to be warmer this Saturday, July 8th, than on last month's walk.
Dress in comfortable clothes for the weather.
And you might want to bring a bottle or some sort of small container of water with you.
I brought a bottle of water with me last time and didn't need it.
But we might just want one this time.
Especially for me, I am going to walk from my house about a mile to the start place.
And then we will walk for about 60-90 mins on the tour.
And then I will walk back home afterwards.
Looking forward to meeting any one whom joins me on the tour.

Janette, Leader of the Wii Fit Plus Team.

Escondido has Free Guided Walking Tours of Historic Escondido the 2nd Saturday of each month. They met at the corner of Broadway and Grand Ave in front of Draper's and Damon's. It is about a 60 - 90 minute walking tour, so wear comfortable shoes if you ever go. They have a few routes that they take to alternate the walks and what you will see. If you want to go, then try to be at Draper's and Damon's about 15 mins before 10 am. As they start promptly at 10 AM. And they make you sign in first before they start the tour, as a waiver, and so they have a record of whom is on the tour. I will probably do it each month if I don't have to work on that day, until the start of next year. Then I might be too busy to do them until May or June again. I live on 7th Ave, so I will just walk up to Damon's a head of time each month. I went on two of the tours in 2015, and one today. Today’s was “The Downtown Escondido Tour”. That took us along Grand Ave. To learn all about the commercial businesses and buildings that contributed to the start and growth of Escondido. The tours are really fun and interesting.

The next one will be Saturday, July 08th. This one will be “The Old Escondido West Tour”. That goes west of Broadway. And will highlight a variety of homes in the Old Escondido Historic District.

If you can’t make any of the Saturday Tours, they have free Mobile App for self-guided tours. Available on all Apple & Android Devices. Just go to the App Store and search for “Explore Escondido” and download it.

OOLALA53, I am talking with some other members of the San Diego and the California Spark People Teams about maybe meeting up once in a while in different places in San Diego and North County. Like maybe doing another walk down on Mission Bay's side walk area like they did last year in April, I believe it was. I couldn't make that one, I had stuff going on with work and family that date.

I think it would be great to meet up with whomever would like to try to do some meet ups.

I got the info on the Free Escondido, California Historical walking tours today. They are still having them every 2nd Saturday at 10 AM each month.

So this Saturday, June 10th will be the next one. I know it is short notice, but I will be attending this one. And maybe others during the upcoming months, especially if anyone else is interested in joining me on the tours. They have a few different tours that they alternate with throughout Escondido. They are a docent-led walking tour that takes you on a journey through Old Escondido. The walking tours can last anywhere from 60 - 90 minutes. Remember to wear your walking shoes! Tours begin promptly at 10 am, so try to arrive a few minutes early. You will need to sign a list of walkers on the tour, which is also a waver form I believe. All tours start on the SE corner of Broadway and Grand Ave (In front of the Draper's & Damon's store).

June 10th tour will be "The Downtown Escondido" tour, which takes you along Grand Ave to see commercial buildings dating back to Escondido's earliest days. Learn about the people and businesses that contributed towards the growth of Escondido. (I did this tour before about two years ago, it was really interesting).

The Tours are Co-sponsored by the Escondido History Center and Old Escondido.

They also have a Free Mobile App for self-guided tours available on all Apple & Android devices, just visit App Store and search for "Explore Escondido" to download it. Or for more information on the walks you can call the Escondido History Center at 760-743-8207.

I don't have a smart phone to down load this app on, so I won't be doing that. I will just go on the guided tours at 10 am on the 2nd Saturday of the month. I will give more notice in upcoming months if I am planning on going to them or not. I will probably make all the months this year though. So if anyone would like to join me let me know, or just show up at the corner of Broadway & Grand Ave in front of Draper's & Damon's around 9:45 AM.

Looking forward to possibly meeting some of my Spark People Team mates. Janette

I won't be coming to Escondido, but I think it's great to post these plans. Then possibly a few locals can take advantage and get to know each other.

There might be a free walking tour of historic Escondido, Ca this Saturday at 10 am. I think the tours are monthly on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 10 am, but I need to call to be sure that is still true. I will give more details if it is true, and see if anyone wants to join me. I am going to make a call today, and then I will let everyone know for sure.
