Thanks for the support, Yvette, but it's not a size issue, it's a suit issue. I just don't like wearing them :P

On a side note, I definitely will not be able to attend the meet and greet June 5th. I have a class in the morning and my cousin's going away party in the afternoon. For a day I planned to keep to myself, I am already failing!

Cindy I agree that it was fun and I hope to join you and your family again. Of course next time I want to skate too! I just wanted the boys to have bun this time. Mica and Cyndall it was great to meet you both as well. I am looking forward to see you all again.

I am planning to go to gym at Shaw and Blythe on Tuesday @ 5 a.m. You are all welcome to join me in at the Clovis Bally's (Shaw & Willow) for aqua fit @ 5:30 p.m. If you want to go let me know and I will get you a 7 day pass.

btw: Papa Murphy's also has a take and back thin crust pizza with pepporoni. Last week chicken and artichoke, and spinach, thin crust. It was pretty good.

Only the kids had pizza, Kris :) There's nothing healthy there at all but the kids were getting tired and hungry.

We get Round Table Skinny Crust Canadian Bacon and Pineapple once in awhile and I LOVE it! Yum!

We had a lot of fun! Sorry more people didn't come but maybe next time. I talked more than I usually do so I didn't skate as much as I do on most Saturdays but it was worth it. If anyone ever wants to go skating with us, my husband, son, and I go every Saturday from 11-1. We go around 10:15 for my son to take lessons. The exception to that is next Saturday because we're skating at Roller Towne in Visalia from 10-12. If there are any south valley people on SP that want to meet us there that would be fun.

Kris, where is the June 5th M & G planned? We have to go to a birthday party at FSU but depending on where the M & G is we might be able to make it afterward. I hope so!

I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! I wanted to be there soo bad, I was bummed this morning when I felt worse than yesterday. But maybe another time!

The next one is still planned for the 5th of June, which is a Saturday again, and this one will be around 2 I think, is what we had said earlier on in this thread. I ordered a Spark Rally kit for our next M & G, it came in today. :) So there's a little extra incentive for everyone. ;)

There are SparkPeople key rings, window clings, a dvd by Coach Nicole and some business cards

So, ladies how did the M & G go? I hope you all had a LOT of fun. I really wish I could have made it... but as I told Mica, I woke up feeling worse than I did yesterday. Ended up sleeping the morning away off and on... I didn't feel like getting up at all until like 12 ish. I feel some better now, but still feel like crap.

Ladies, I may have to forgo going to this. I'm feeling a little under the weather, felt it coming on last night, woke up feeling like crap this morning, but I am hoping it goes away soon. Although even if I did feel good enough to go, I don't really have a ride, my sister is sick and my parents are planning to go up to Coarsegold to some friends' house. I think you should rent them skates and let them try it. Sometimes there are 1-2 year olds out there and definitely lots of 4-5 year olds too. Also, if you come early, like 10:15, they can take lessons for an extra $1 from 10:30-11:00.

My son is 6 and is still learning but he has a blast out there.

Don't worry about the kids...I teach 24 8-year olds all day so I can help you out!

So I had a bit of a monkey wrench thrown into my weekend plans.

My boyfriend's ex called this morning asking if he'll watch the kids this weekend while she goes "soul searching". He's working so they want me to watch them. I'm not very experienced with kids (none of my own yet and my brother and I were the last babies in my family) and one of them can be exceptionally high maintenance, so I'm not sure I'm comfortable bringing them out to the skating rink (they are four and five).

If I *do* go, could I impose on someone to watch them for a few minutes while I skate some laps? I'll be happy to trade off watching little ones.

Meet me at the snack bar...lol...just kidding. I'm the one in the purplish shirt in my avatar. My son is 6 and has blonde hair. My husband will be there with us too. Hi Ladies

As Kris and I discussed yesterday and decided on the first and third Saturday of June each month. Anna I walked down to get feedback from you but didn't get an answer. Cindy I agree that we can't please everyone and having a set time would be better. Adding that as a team leader that will be assisting Anna when Kris leaves I have to do it around my work schedule and unfortunately that is on some weekends now.


So let's get ready to skate and I will set a poll for the activities that we will be participating in each month. I was thinking of one non-paying event and one paid event. For example: bowling at one and a walk at another.

I'll be there in spirit at the next two! On May 22nd I have to SAG for the TNT cycle team that day, and that usually isn't done until 2pm or so I believe. June 5th weekend I will be in San Diego for the Rock N Roll Marathon. Hopefully I can make the 2nd one in June.

So, what do you all say to having the next meet & greet after this upcoming one... have it on June 5th, have it at Woodward park and we walk around woodward park, lets say we meet up at around 3 - 5? I could get a spark rally thing set up, if I need to change the date/time I can always do that the closer it gets if need be.

Reason I said this time for the 22nd is because Cindy suggests we do it then so we don't have to be there with all the teens who are very rude and obnoxious. But most other M & G's I try to have it at the same time for each one.

Ok ladies, I know I've been slack in trying to get this planned this time around... I will do that then. I may not be able to make all of them, but I will definitely try. For as long as I'm here anyway, lol.

I must admit, it's always hard for me to know what to do, I'm always wanting to please everyone, lol. I must STOP! :P

So, here we go ladies... let's plan for every 1st & 4th Saturday of every month, we try to aim for those days to plan something. I know I waited too long to plan 2 meets this month.

I'm gonna say Saturday, May 22nd - time: 11am - 12pm

For June, Yvette & I were talking that we'll do the 1st and 3rd Saturdays, June 5th 2-5 & June 19th it's not set in stone, but give an idea of what might happen and I will TRY my best to get them set up at the first of the month!

Sorry if this makes it difficult for anyone to plan with me not getting it planned sooner!

That's what I do for the monthly luncheon - 1st Wednesday of every month at noon. Works like a charm. Then there isn't a date to remember.

For the other groups that I am a part of it has always been easier to plan for when it is the same time/day every month. Like always the first Saturday of the month at 2pm or something along those lines.

Hi everyone. I go thru this every month with an alumni luncheon, for 30 years in management, and the oldest of 10 - so the matriarch of the family with MANY parties. Only way to plan things is to pick a day, time, place, and whoever shows up shows up. It is not possible to get the whole group to show up at anything - even with the best intentions - and even when they RSVP saying they'll be there (rule of thumb that event planners use: 30% of the guests you invite will not show up). You already took a poll to find out people's interests. I would rotate the different activities and just pick a day and time. Just my opinion for whatever it's worth.

Do we have a plan yet? I think it would be nice if we just choose twice a month on different days/times, otherwise we'll never be able to make it convenient for everyone. I think the Meet & Greets are really good for meeting people and having a "real" person to help encourage you and keep you accountable. Maybe we should set up a poll at the end of each month for the following month and then just go with it even though we can't please everyone. I hope no one takes this as a criticism but sometimes we just need to choose a date/time and go for it even if others can't make it.

Geez, I got lost this week! I'm only available in the late afternoon on the 22nd. :( Actually, only late afternoons all of May unfortunately. I'm supposed to be training for my half-marathon, that I've really been slacking on, and I have another committment on the 22nd. Looks like I might miss this month.. :(

Hey, for future reference, I think iceskating in the summertime would be awesome too!

Also, I love to hike up near Yosemite quite often once the snow melts..I used to meet with a hiking group at the base of the trail for a relatively "easy" hike. That would be fun too!

Ok great, I think I will go ahead and plan for the 22nd... what times work best for everyone? According to Cindy, if it's after 1, then that's around the time that all the wild kids get there, lol. I don't know if I'll be able to get it reserved for a group or not... I would have to have a Tax ID... if we do the group rate, if someone has a tax ID that they can use for this, it'd be very helpful, we would need to figure out the exact date/time we want to be there, have a count of people that plan to be there, nobody backing out... so if you're unsure of going then don't RSVP when you get the SparkRally invite, lol. Cause then I'd have to reserve 2 weeks in advance have a head count of 10 min - 70 max people. I would need to pay a deposit that is non refundable.

I suggested May 8th because I am off that weekend and don't want the stress of having to get my client ready and bringing her too. I am available after 1p.m on May 22nd and May 29th as well.

Kathi aqua fit is easy on the joints of us fat people LOL It is a great workout that works all of the muscle areas. The cool thing about it is that most of the participants are either elderly or fat too and they wear bathing suits. Some days I wear exercise shorts and some days a bathing suit with a tank top. Trust me no one is looking at you. and Anna please! LOL

Kris, the sessions run from 11:00-1:00. I think to reserve you have to be a nonprofit group. I wonder if Kristine knows about that since her degree allows her to work with nonprofits. We might be able to reserve a party room if they aren't already booked for birthday parties.

Also, Cal Skate has beginner lessons from 10:30-11:00 for an extra dollar and you can stay until 3:30 to practice.

FYI-I think the best time to skate at CalSkate is 11:00 on Saturday mornings (or reserve a time for just us) because the teeny boppers start showing up for the 1:30 or later sessions. Of course some are great but many are very obnoxious and don't look out for the little ones.

Hello group - I know I've been MIA lately, but, I am back and ready to make things happen. Any afternoon or week-end works for me. Like everybody else, appointments, family, vacations etc will get in the way, but, if I'm free, I'll be there. I put aqua fit last because NOBODY will see me in a suit until I like what I see in the mirror. Hiking would have tied the aquafit for last, but, it would depend on where and how far. I wish they had a CLUB so we could DANCE cause that is my most favorite form of exercise! I'm just glad to see SP step it up :)

I vote for skating (of course) but I like bowling too. I am not much of a hiker.

Mondays-good after 3:30
Tuesdays-not good
Wed.-Fri.-good after 3:30 but not every Fri. Some Fridays my son has Little Gym until 5:30
Sat.-Sun. anytime

Some Wed. not good if I can't bring my son to whatever we plan cause hubby works late.

Summer-anytime (mostly)!

Bally's has buddy passes and the aqua fit class is awesome! Maybe we could take a Saturday morning to do aqua fit or something fun like miniature golf at Blackbeards. My schedule changes weekly so far I am free on May 8th and May 29th and after May 2nd in the afternoons on Sunday.

I will definitely do that! If I remember right, it's a book that shows ALL the National Parks that you can go to, she gets a year pass to so that we can go hiking up at Sequoia Kings Canyon National Parks, but also so if she's ever anywhere else and she can get in that park by showing her card. Also I believe she's got a map that shows the different trails. But yeah I will find out the name of the book, map, etc.

But if you want you can go to trails.gorp.com & find trails anywhere.. here's the link that shows them in Sequoia Kings Canyon trails.gorp.com/AjaxSearchResults and it shows the difficulty of each trail. You can also narrow your search by difficulty, etc.

So here are my days....
Monday - not good! school
Tuesday - not good! homework
Wednesday - not good! school
Thursday - not good! school
Friday - good in evening
Saturday - good after NOON school in A.M.
Sunday - GOOD!!
The last week of May my schedule will open up because it will be the end of this semester.

I think that an awesome thing to do would be to go hiking. Planning early like this is better for me because then I could possibly find a sitter if we do go hiking and I can bring Nick too.

We have been wanting to hike for a long time. It would be nice to meet up, talk awhile and then get a great workout in. These are just my thoughts! Everyone have a wonderful day.

Cyndall - Thanks for letting us know what works best for you as far as the days...

I like the idea for walking in Woodward Park.... is your idea of walking, walking the ENTIRE park? LOL If so, that'd be awesome! I wonder how many miles the whole park is.

For the days, I think Saturday seems to work best for most people, but I also know that there's some people who have a hard time for the weekends, so a weekday like possibly Friday would work best. For me it usually doesn't matter as long as there's nothing going on here at home.

Monday - good for me
Tuesday - good for me
Wednesday - good for me
Thursday - good for me
Friday - good for me
Saturday - good for me
Sunday - good for me

So I was thinking also, here's some of my ideas... we could also try and do some of these...

hiking (my sister knows of LOTS of great places to hike, this is 1 thing we LOVE to go do, get out of the city and just HIKE)
bowling
mini golfing

OK, So I know this is a little early, but I thought well, what they hey, it might be best to start discussing the details, so that we can come to a decision and set it up, hopefully very soon.

Ok, my first question is, what days work best for everyone?

Copy this list and paste into your reply, let us know exactly what days work best for YOU. I believe this will help in deciding for a day.

Monday -
Tuesday -
Wednesday -
Thursday -
Friday -
Saturday -
Sunday -

If for some a weekday works best and for some a weekend day works best then maybe we should start having 2 meet & greets a month, to get everyone involved.

Now, my next question is, what dates work best for you all and also where would we like to have the next one?

Cindy (CINDYHEN), has been suggesting that we do our next one at CalSkate, skating rink, it does cost, but I told her I don't see any problem in doing it. So I said, maybe this next month would work out for doing that! It'd be fun to do! If you haven't skated in yrs, don't worry you're not alone, neither have I! LOL If you'd like to know what the schedules are and the cost of it, then feel free to check out the website calskateclovis.net/_wsn/page2.html and if you don't feel like skating, that's fine too, you're more than welcome to just come and watch and visit!

So... let's discuss what to do & if you have any other ideas, please DO bring it up and we can discuss that too!
