Hello everyone. My name is Amber. I'm 32 and a wife and mom of a 7 year old girl. I am new to this group but not to sparkpeople, but I have been away for awhile. I am excited to get back on track and get to know everyone. I would like to lose enough to be healthy but also change to healthier lifestyle for my family. We would like to have another child which won't happen without some major weight loss and we are also going to be starting the adoption process soon. So with any luck my small 3 person family, will one day be a 5 person family.

Hello! I just joined this team! My name is Amanda and Im 38 years old. Ill be 39 on July 9. Ive been married to my wonderful supportive husband Paul for 12 years. I have 7 cats. I have been on SP for many years. I really got off track for awhile, I got back on track in June and am down 12.8 pounds since June 4. I would like to lose around 105 more pounds total, but one step at a time. Im looking forward to be on this team! Ill come check on the boards and post more later! I've been posting here a few days now, but I don't think I've made a formal introduction yet. (Oops! Sorry about that!) Here's some tidbits about me: My name is Stephanie, and I'll be 49 years old August 5th. I've been married 25 years to my best friend, Shawn, and we have two children. Matthew will be 22 years old next month, and Jacob will turn 18 years old in July. Matthew is getting married June 22nd, and he and his fiance, Laken, are expecting our first grandchild (a girl due in October). After living with four brothers (and no sisters) and raising two boys, I'm SO EXCITED to meet this little angel. Having a girl around will be a whole new experience for me.

I've been a work-at-home-mom since 2001. I owned a candle-making business for many years, but now I work as a full-time freelance writer. I've published a few romance books over the years too, but I mainly do freelance work these days. Now that Jacob has graduated high school, I plan on going back to work (outside the home) very soon. I worked in retail 12 years before I came home to be with my kids. We live in central Mississippi, and we have two very spoiled furbabies named Amber (an 11-year-old Peek-a-Poo) and Jax (a 3-year-old Labrador Retriever).

Shawn is a melanoma skin cancer survivor (diagnosed in 2009) and Matthew is a Type 1 diabetic (diagnosed in 2012). I've been overweight since I was a preteen, and I reached my highest weight of 364 pounds a couple of months ago. I'm doing a combined program of counting calories, intermittent fasting, and low carb, which seems to be working really well.

Hmmm....that's all I can think of right now. If there's anything else you'd like to know about me, just ask! I've enjoyed getting to know all of you!

I've been using a variety of chopped salads this week due to my busy schedule. I've liked every one that I've had so far. Pair that with some fresh meat and a fruit of some sort and I have a fresh meal in the time it takes to cook the meat. My current class is very time demanding so quick meals are a necessity. Quick doesn't have to mean processed junk.

I'm new to this group---somewhat new to Spark (for the 3rd time)! But this time I'm more committed and am learning that this is a journey, and I tend to take side trips :)

I retired in May of 2018 from a university where I taught courses in early education. Since retiring I have been spending time trying to figure out who I want to be when I grow up (I'm 66 years old but there is still hope). I still teach some online courses for the university and I volunteer at our local Humane Society and for our hospital. I take two major trips each year. I spend 10 weeks each summer in Iowa to be near my children and grandchildren, and in October I spend 8-10 days at the beach in Florida to celebrate my brother's birthday. I am very lucky to be able to do this.


Now I want to really enjoy those trips and be able to actively be involved. I joined Sparkpeople to get me on track with eating and exercising. I do workout with a trainer 3 days a week, but my good intentions of working out at home on the other days never seem to go beyond intentions. My eating goes in streaks. I can follow a healthy eating plan for weeks, and then I blow it. But this time I seem to be able to get back on track a little quicker.


I have over 140 pounds to lose so I'm looking for any and all support and motivation. I am also willing to give support and motivation because I know we are all in this together!

Hi!! My name is Jae, also know as Froggie or Frogdiva, & I am sorta the Team Ghost!! I float around & make my presence known once & awhile!! I am a 70yo retired RN & a widow of 8yrs!! I live on a small remote farm in west central Illinois!! I have no living relatives, but I have 2 puppydoodles, mini schnauzers, & 2 barn cats, one short hair & one bob tail!!

I have essentially been a "grief zombie" for the past 8 yrs!! I just exist!! Not doing anything to help myself or move forward!! Anyone who knows me from before my Hubby died knows that that is NOT me....normally!! I have let myself, my home, & everything else just "go"!! My home needs major repairs & so do I!! I am selling the farm & should close this year!! It has been under contract for a while & we have alot of legal issues to work out!! I am staying here, though....at least that is the plan for now!!

I have some challenges right now because I do not have a working refrigerator so I can not eat the foods I want for good nutrition & to lose weight!! I live so far out that I only go to town once a week or every 2 wks!! No one delivers out here so having fresh produce & such is just not available right now!! I do have a freezer that is still working!!

In 2001, I had GBS, a Roux-en-Y procedure, & subsequently lost 155#!! But I was not able to maintain the loss due to letting others influence me!! My Hubby & Mom kept pushing me to eat more & as I did, I regained weight!! I am now back up to 270# from 145#!! I have become extremely sedentary in the last 3 or 4 years!!

I want to try to increase my physical activity & as soon a we close on the property, I will get a new fridge!! I tend to go all day without eating & then I eat supper, usually a 6" subway sandwich & 2 or 3 frozen veggies & some fruit, then I tend to graze the rest of the evening!! I can freeze the subs & I also eat frozen dinners!!

I NEED to get back on track!!

Hi! I'm Barbara. I have been an on again, off again member of Sparkpeople and other healthy living sites for as long as the internet has been around. Earlier this year, I lost 60 lbs in a local Boot Camp program. I felt great & was looking forward to that 100+ club! But after a fall at work & injury to foot, knee & hip...I have also fallen back into my old terrible eating habits with no exercise. Needless to say, I have put the 60lbs back on & feel horrible!! While losing that 60 lbs, I discovered I had been burdened for years with EXCUSES on why I couldn't lose the weight & in the end I was my own worst enemy! With my current pain, it has become very easy to make those excuses again!! I have got to break that mind cycle & do this....because I know I can & I also know that the added weight is not helping my recovery! I'm starting back from the beginning & struggling with the idea of slower progress this time due to my current fitness level! But thankful for supportive sites like this! Glad to be here!

Hi, I’m Maureen. I’ve been on and off SparkPeople for years. I do well for a while and then don’t stick with it. I think I have had several mental blocks which I am now working on. Since November, I have lost 19 pounds. That is just with diet, I am now feeling ready to incorporate some exercise in with it. I have been struggling with my sugars and now I’m on metformin and my sugars are much better controlled. I am feeling better.
I’ve been logging my food with SparkPeople but now think I should become more involved with the community of wonderful people here so here I am.

I am finally trying to do something about it. My asthma makes it hard, but I am going to try my hardest to lose the weight. Any and all support is welcome.

Hi Everyone!

Kimi here and today is the first day of the rest of my life. September 1st, I got married to a wonderful guy named Scott and we have finally settled into a routine. But not a good routine....the scale has crept up back over 300 and I was not happy with myself. Last evening, I talked to my husband (I love saying that) and we made a decision to work together to better our health. Tonight, we are going to a local Planet Fitness so that we will have the ability to exercise once snow flies and outdoor walking proves difficult.

I have decided that I am only going to focus on 15 pound increments in an effort to not get overwhelmed by what that goal should really be.

I'm looking forward to sharing the journey with you; giving and receiving encouragement; and seeing us all succeed in our goals.

Life has been busy for us so I waited until it settled down. We finally replaced all our windows, got a new front door, and new siding on the house. We also finished off a room over our garage for my hubby's new paint studio aka man cave. Since he retired, things that needed to be done finally got done. Now that all the confusion is behind us I can get down to business of concentrating on getting my weight off. The real battle of loosing weight takes place in the mind, until you are ready to change your mindset, the weight wont come off and stay off. I've reached that point. FINALLY!!!!!!! I'm excited to get back in the fun and to get to know the new members who joined this team after my long, long, long sabbatical. Just as our house got a new makeover, I am beginning my makeover. It won't be as quick as the house was, but it will be a journey that I am seeing through to the end this time. Here's to the next 1-1/2 years journey. May I find joy in the journey as I take on my biggest battle.

Hello my fellow First Steppers, I am finally back in the game. I took time off since I wasn't actively doing anything about getting my weight off. I've finally gotten my head back into the game of ACTIVELY getting my weight off. During my time off I realized you must have your head in the game, if not you will never be successful. I'm looking forward in joining in on the monthly challenges and being a First Stepper who cheers my team mates on.
