Hi Elizabeth! Life sure sounds exciting at your house with all those critters. LOL! Way to go with homeschooling too. My daughter (also a PW) has 9 children from ages 17 down to 1 year old and she is a home school mom. It is a rewarding and often trying occupation.

We're so glad you've joined us. With all your running and outdoor activities, it sounds like you will be a great encouragement to us here. I am currently down with a broken femur and am not allowed to put weight on it yet. This is the second surgery on it because it wasn't healing the first time. I am looking forward to the day when I can get outside and walk again! But for now, I'll be cheering you on. emoticon and praying for you! emoticon

Hi! Just found this team! I am a mother of three ages 16, 14, 12 (and in December the bdays start!). We are currently in SC but I do believe God is calling my hubby to pastor a church in Missouri soon.I homeschool, like to read, run, and be outdoors as much as I can. We have a dog, Deacon a lizard named Roscoe, and a beta fish named, Fluffy. We also seem to house anything from frogs, toads, and hurt baby birds as well as turtles, stray dogs, and cats from week to week. (Life with 2 boys!)

And Larousse, I thought you said "doggy" hips, and I was wondering what that was! haha

Hi Judith, nice to meet you! I 'm Larousse from Paris in France. Sorry to hear you have had such hard year. Ours has been fairly tough too and I'm currently not officially a pastors wife as my hubby lost his job after only 2 days due to a conflict with the elders and assistant pastor. I am trying to get some weight off to avoid having hip and knee problems, as my parents both had dodgy hips and I can feel the niggling ache starting if I walk more than usual.

Hi Judi - Welcome back. We will be here for you - "one pound at a time"
You've had quite a year - full of lots of changes and difficulties. I've been here for 7 years and during that time have lost 50 pounds, ganed 45 back, lost 60 and have gained 25 of that back. It's rough but SP seems to work better for me than any other plan. When I log my food I really seem to do well.

I know about knee pain too, though my knees aren't to the point yours are yet.. Butlast year I had a major arthritis flare up in my left knee and I have since quit working and am now on SS. I opted to retire at 62 because of heart health and knee issues. . I will definitely be praying for you as you work at losing weight in prep for your knee replacement.

We're glad to have you with us again!

Welcome back, Judi! So glad to "see" you!

I know what you mean about gaining weight--I now weigh more than I did when I started with SparkPeople 6 years ago! Ugh. Too many church dinners and making buckeyes for UMW bazaars! (See, I'm in the UM system, too, so I totally know what you're talking about when you say things like: DS, Annual Conference, General Conference, Appointments, UMM, UMW, and the like!)

Hi! I'm back. It's been over a year, and what a year. After losing my MIL last year, this year brought many changes. I lost about 15 lbs last summer, and have now regained 25. Great.

We got the call from the District Superintendent last February that we would be moving (United Methodists). So, in the last year, I have lost my FIL, left my church, friends, and job, moved across the state. Although I am closer to my mom (87, and in failing health), and we moved *back* to an area we have been in before, I find myself with no friends, no job, and the knowledge that *somebody* in this church has been telling people I'm hard to get along with.

In addition, moving from a ranch house to a turn of the last century two-story four-square (beautiful historic house, but 16 steps to my bedroom, and no opportunity for a first floor bedroom) has resulted in cortisone shots in my *good* knee. Both knees need replaced. I can no longer walk 7000 steps without pain.

I know have a pain in my left armpit that had been ongoing for a month. No cancer, according to mammogram, but also no diagnosis and no relief.

Halloween left too much candy in the house, and now we are in baking season - Holiday Fair Sale at church next weekend. UMMen's group met last night, and we hosted. Community Thanksgiving at our church next Sunday night, and we're hosting. Food is everywhere, and I need to get down into my "normal" weight range, as we want to try to get a double knee replacement done. Otherwise, because of my knock-knees, I will need two done "back-to-back. And sleeping in my husband's study on a single bed for months on end doesn't sound good to me.

That's my story of woe. I'm back to try again the only thing that has really worked for me in the past. And this time, I have a goal of losing 67 lbs. One at a time. emoticon

I totally agree with you, Deanna, about the support groups for Pastor's Spouses. Fortunately, I have been in a Facebook group that is very helpful, but it's still not as good as a face to face. Still, virtual is better than none at all, which is why I like this group so much!

Hi Deanna, I'm also glad to know your name! I didn't see this post until after I responded on another one. LOL! I'm Bonnie but got my screen name from when we lived in Indiana, PA many years ago. It just kinda stuck. LOL!

Praying you're having a good day.

Thank you, Claire and Carolyn. Prayers are appreciated.

It's good to be here. I've never had a spouse's group to share with. In our community there is a monthly "meeting" for the clergy. Why not the spouses?

Claire, I'm from Rosenberg, which is southwest of Houston. I went to college at Texas Lutheran in Seguin, so for fun we went to San Antonio or New Braunfels. My in-laws live in a suburb of Dallas, where my husband and I also lived for a few years, and we've also lived in Austin (after Jonathan and I got married).

I appreciate your warm welcome!

Welcome, Deanna! So good to have a real name rather than a user name. And feel free to post wherever! I was thinking yesterday that we have a number of forum topics that aren't being used and it's probably confusing. Nevertheless, on your Start page, down a bit, there is a section called "New Posts in Your SparkTeams," so when someone posts it should show on that board and we can respond. I usually get e-mail notifications, though, so that's how I keep up.

Praying for you in your transition. Remember Romans 8:28 -- All things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose.

Where in Texas are you from? My husband's aunt lived in McAllen; her husband was from Fredericksburg.

I didn't know if I should also post here? I posted in the "New to Team" thread a few days ago.

My name is Deanna and I'm a pastor's spouse in Michigan. We've been in our current parish for 11 years and we only have a couple more weeks here. Not sure where God will lead us to put down our roots next. My family is all in Texas (where I'm from), so I miss them a lot and don't get home very often.

We have two children, age 10 and 16, and a kitty name Kibo (keebo). My hobbies are scrapbooking, reading and coloring (for relaxation).

Thanks, y'all!! emoticon My older brother teases me that I am "an uppity woman"! But, there are times when a bit of (gentle) plain speaking does a world of good!!

The first church my DH pastored was in lower Alabama (verrrrry rural lower Alabama!). We lived in the manse (parsonage, pastorium, or whatever your church may call it!) and the pump on the well kept burning out its motor. Finally, after 3 repairs in 2 weeks, the repairmen were leaving and I asked them if they had done anything differently this time. "Nope!" And, I asked, "Well then, what's going to keep it from burning out again?" They replied, "Prob'ly nuthin! Y'all have a good day now!" and they rolled on down the dirt road!!

The next Sunday morning, during the service, DH was reading the prayer list and then, as always, asked if there were any additional prayer requests. I took a deep breath, stood up and said, "Yes, the pump motor on our well clearly needs God's help since the repairmen can't seem to fix it!"

Well, 2 days later, the newest motor burned out. This time they put a larger motor on the pump (which was what I had told 'em to do the first time!!).

One thing sure about being married to a pastor ..... you MUST keep a strong sense of humor!!!
emoticon

Blessings,
Carolyn

That really used to bother me early on in our ministry when people would come to me to complain about my hubby It took me 40 years, but I have finally learned to smile sympathetically and tell them I can't tell him for them - they really need to talk to him. Your answer is great, Carolyn.

LaRousse -- the best advice I can offer is to try to keep your mouth closed and your ears wide open!! emoticon My years of experience taught me that people will come to you and say, "I wish you'd tell Pastor to .....(do this or that differently)." The wife somehow seems more approachable to a lot of folks than the Pastor does! I had one person pull me aside on at least 6 different occasions to say, "I wish you'd tell him to read the Scripture from the original." (meaning the KJV .... at that time we were using NIV, but have since switched to the ESV Reformed Study Bible). Well, I finally told her to be sure and be there next Sunday evening because he would read directly from the ancient Greek! I never heard another word! LOL!!

Always remember that a gentle answer turns away wrath.

Raising two sons, you have your hands full. Most churches will load you down with as much as they can so that they don't have to do it. When asked to do something, if you're not sure, ask them to give you time to pray about it. Only then, can you give them the answer which is best for your family as well as for your congregation.

Blessings,
Carolyn

Hi Bonnie!

Angina is a tough thing to learn to live with. I have asthma that's set off by the slightest bit of exercise, so in that sense, I certainly understand how the angina limits you .... probably when you least want it to! I've learned that when I want to cook something, I measure everything out and set it out, then I rest for an hour or two, and then I can go back and do the mixing. Last Christmas, my husband gave me a KitchenAid stand mixer which makes it much, much easier for me!

Brittany Spaniels are some of the sweetest there are. 14 years is getting pretty long in the tooth, but that's a breed that seems to live longer than many others of the same size.

Blessings,
Carolyn

Hi Carolyn, so good to get to know you! I'm Bonnie from central PA (at the moment.) My hubby has been pastoring for 40+ years, mostly in small churches. We are Assemblies of God. We are currently pastoring in his home church in Philipsburg PA - it's only claim to fame is that Dave Wilkerson pastored here before going to NYC to start Teen Challenge. LOL!

Sorry to hear of your chronic illness. Two years ago I was diagnosed with microvascular heart disease which is managed by medication. It limits the things I can do - I have angina with exercise and also at rest so I have to pace myself to get things done during the day. It is definitely harder to lose weight with a chronic illness, but with careful management it can still be done, though it definitely takes longer!

My children are all married and have families of their own - I have 12 grands now. Otherwise our family consists of hubby and myself, and our 14 year old rescue Brittany Spaniel named Daisy.

We're so glad you're here. Welcome to the team!

Bonnie

Hi all!! I'm returning to SparkPeople after a 7-8 year absence (too many hospitalizations and years of chronic illness). The good part is that I'm only 2 lbs. heavier than when I left ..... bad part is that I'm weak as a newborn babe and really struggling just to do simple stretches.

My husband is a Presbyterian minister (Associate Reformed Presbyterian .... mostly in southeastern USA) who has pastored a couple of churches, but has worked in our denominational headquarters for the last 26 years. Since HQ is in the town I was born and raised in, it's familiar and that's often a welcome thing. He will retire in just under 3 years and we hope to move back to the small college town (Due West, SC) where we met, married, and lived while he finished college and seminary.

The rest of our household consists of my 91-year-old Mom (WWII veteran) who is quite frail and extraordinarily forgetful now (I'm her caregiver, even when I'm in the hospital! LOL!!). To entertain us, we have 2 cats ..... a Maine Coon mix named BiddeFur (age 10), and a Bengal mix named HazelNut (age 2.5). If you're not familiar with Bengals, I will say only that she is our WILD child and has taken a lot of work to get her to settle down and be a respectable member of the family! Even so, she's unpredictable enough that I always put her away if anyone comes to visit.

Looking forward to getting to know y'all. It looks as though we have a bit of international flavor in this group and I like that! When I was growing up, we lived in Verviers, Belgium (and later Brussels, Belgium) for 2 years. Wonderful memories from those times and places!!

Blessings,
Carolyn

Hi all, managed to find out how to post on this thread! I'm over 50, have a sedentary job, and at my recent work medical was scared to see how much weight has gone on over the menopause! Lately my hips have been aching if I walk too much. I'm planning on finding my pedometer and using that more regularly, and maybe getting a fitbit.

My DH is due to start as a pastor soon, we will find out on Monday whether he starts in July or Sept. He has had an itinerant ministry for about 10 yrs but has never pastored a church before. So I'm new to the PW scene! Would be glad to hear your tips for a newbie.

Sounds like we're going to need a lot of wisdom as the church's leadership team is struggling. We have 2 boys aged 17 and 11.

Hi Eva and emoticon We're glad to see you here. I know what it's like to "find" those pesky pounds again. I've been a Spark People member for over 5 years now and had originally lost 50 pounds and found most of them again. Now I've lost 40 of them again because my poor old heart doesn't work as good as it used to and I have to lose. This team has been a real blessing to me and the gals here are great. Glad to have you with us.

Welcome Eva! Be sure to check in on the string "Check in..." Wow, I forgot what it's called! Anyway, it's the most active string on this team. And this is the best team for support as pastor's wives. Well, it's actually the only team for pastor's wives that I know of! Have a great day in the Lord!

Hello everyone. I'm Eva, a pastor's wife from Gainesville, Fl. I've been doing SparkPeople for a while . . . lost 20 pounds, . . . but have somehow "found" it again. I'm starting over, and hope to be more successful this time. Blessings to all of you . . .

Have a blessed day!

Welcome, Diane! This is my favorite group on SparkPeople because we all can understand each other so well. Blessings to you today! Oh, and my name is Claire. Please forgive my short reply; I just got back from a weekend retreat and didn't get a whole lot of sleep. But God showed up, so it doesn't matter. Yay God!

I think this is the longest "Introduce yourself to the Team" I've seen. But then, I haven't been active on this team for a long time... emoticon

Anyway, yes, I've heard that before...It's a dry heat. Haha! 126 degrees is hot no matter what the humidity. Well, okay, here, where it gets very humid in the summer, I think 126 degrees with humidity would be unbearable, but still...

Have a great day! And check in with us on the 2013 check in forum!

No snow for me....not too disappointed about it either. I get cold when we dip bellow 70. Must sound really silly to you right? We have two seasons in my part of Arizona - Summer - which begins in very early May and last to the end of October. And a combination of Fall/Spring from November through April. Our lowest the entire year is low 30's ( a few brief days) our average during the Summer is 118 - last Summer we hit 126 two different days. -- the joke is (It's a dry heat) emoticon

Again, welcome, Julie! I guess you're not getting snow! Well, we don't have any snow here in Ohio right now. We got some snow last week, but the temperature started to go up yesterday so it's almost all melted. That's weather in Ohio! If you don't like it, wait five minutes and it will change.

Welcome! It's good to have you here. And aren't we all ordained in one way or another as Pastor's wives? Nevertheless, you have double duty and that can be tough. But God is good!

So glad to have you aboard. We'll help keep you accountable.

What is your first name, and where do you live? I just like to know these things. It gives me context and helps me remember you.

Hi There! Not only am I pastor's wife, I too am an ordained pastor. In The Salvation Army, both the husband and wife are ordained pastors.

When I was young, my father referred to me as a "pudgie pettite". In my 20's I was at my healthiest weight of 108-110 (I am only 5 feet tall). But at 30, I quit smoking. I gained between 10 and 20 pounds within the first 6 months - and about one pound per year since then.

I am determined to be better to my self, and more importantly to my body/God's Temple.
This is my 2nd time with Spark People...but my first commited time.

Hi~
My name is Debbie. My husband pastor's a small independent church in central Ohio.
I have 2 grown sons, a beautiful daughter in law and 3 "perfect" grand daughters :-)

I was on Sparkpeople before and lost weight. I found the encouragement and support to be so very helpful in attaining each goal. I stepped away for many reasons and have decided with a friends urging to get back to sparking.

I really desire to loose weight and live a healthy lifestyle... spiritually and physically.

I was a little afraid to rejoin sparkpeople but after 2 days of tracking my food I feel "at home."

I am thankful for the friendships I once made on sparkpeople and look forward to getting reaquainted and making new friends.

God Bless Each of You~
(Praying for those in particular who are cleaning up from the storm Sandy's mess....)

Good morning, friends. I'm Eva, wife of Danny, who is pastor of a small church in Gainesville, Florida. I need to lose 80 - 100 pounds, a daunting task, but I know "I can do all things THROUGH Christ, who strengthens me." I'm sure it will also be easier with the support of my "sisters in the ministry", and I'm so thankful I found this site, as well as this group.

Please pray that I will stay focused on the goal, and not get side-tracked with the church dinners, mission trip "eat-a-lots", and all the other "churchy" eating opportunities this summer.

I am having knee replacement surgery at the end of July, and am restricted in my aerobic work-out activities. I need suggestions as to what I can do while I sit and wait for the surgery.

Thanks, and God Bless!

Eva

I also have a question . . . How do you get the cute little graph weight-loss thing on the bottom of your post? I like those (but not my weight).

Hello, PWs!

I am Jacque. My husband and I are blessed to serve a great church in Tennessee (about an hour NE of Nashville). We have four kids ranging from 21 to 7. My girls are 17 and 7 and live here in TN with us. My boys are 21 and 19 and stayed in FL when we moved here 7 months ago. They are both serving in ministry at our previous church.

When I'm not taking care of the family or helping my husband at the church, I love to get out and hike and take photos of our beautiful state. (One of the reasons I really need to do something about my fitness level! All that huffing and puffing up and down these hills!)

I have definitely let myself go - when I got married 22 years ago, I weighed 99 pounds. I have gained 68 pounds since then! I realize I am a stress eater and eating junk has become a horrible habit. Even after having 3 children, I was at a very healthy weight. (#4 is adopted - so I can't use that excuse!) Once I began homeschooling and my stress level raised - that's when I started putting on weight. So, my main goal is to replace my very unhealthy habits with healthy ones.

I look forward to getting to know the PWs here on SP!

Jacque

Hello! My name is Tracy. My sweet hubby recently went from being a fulltime associate pastor to parttime to help the church finances. The Lord provided an amazing fulltiime position with the seminary he is attending for his Master's degree! We have five children- two in college, two in high school and one in middle school. I work as a one-on-one assistant for a visually-impaired, partially-paralyzed and learning-disabled middle school student. Three years ago I found out I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which explained the weight gain, brain fog and fatigue! I'd like to lose weight and be more fit not only to be able to do what the Lord has for me to do, but also as an example for my children. I recently signed up for our school's Biggest Loser competition. Last week were our first workouts, which means I spent most of the week sore. Today is workout #3...eek!

emoticon to our team of Pastor's Wives. My husband retired from the pastorate after 35 years of serving in many small Southern Baptist churches. He retired to follow me to Germany when the agency I work ffor tranferred me to another school. We left Ft. Campbell,KY last July. We have been married 38 years. Praise God!
God is so wonderful to us despite all of our faults. I am sso glad for His continuous grace and mercy. He is an emoticon God, isn't He? We can take a life through many twists and turns and He can bring us back to Him each time.

Join us on a question for about once a day or so during this crazy,busy summer. Blessings for your journey!

Good morning, and hello to everyone,

I am married to the love of my life, he's a Pastor of a very VERY small Southern Baptist Church, and he is also active duty Army. At least until May 2012, then he will be RETIRED Army!! It took us 46 years to find each other......we both had been married before, (twice), with spouses leaving for "greener" pastures. I am so glad God brought us together. He loves me, regardless of weight, but is very supportive in my journey to health - then we can have more years.....active years......together. I am 53, but feel 33 inside, except when I try to lead the children's songs that have motions! Then I often feel 85, especially the next couple days!! lol I just finished a week of VBS at our church, which is 92 miles from home. They have a small parsonage that we can use, so my daughter and I stayed out there all week. It was a joint VBS with the Methodist Church, and even though it was small.....total of 11 kids enrolled.....it was fun.....mostly. I sure don't handle it as easily as I did 20 yrs ago....which was the last time I was VBS Director!! The town only has 400-500 people, and only a post office, corner stores, and pecan and walnut groves and a vineyard. The trains go through every 30 minutes, and you can take a walk and not see anyone drive down the road! Anyway, DH and I have been married 6 1/2 yrs. He has been in ministry all his adult life, but this is the first church he has been Pastor of.

We have 5 children, and 3.2 grandchildren. Our youngest is 12, and really keeps us hopping with her sports and band. The other 4 are 22-32 yrs old and are as far flung as West Virginia. His mom, and my parents and one son and family live in southern Nevada, but God brought us down here to southeast Arizona...and we love it here, very close to the Mexican border.

I am a student with Grand Canyon U, working to get my Bachelor's to teach High School English/Reading and most hopefully, Choral Music.

I need the support of other PWs, often I feel as though I cannot have any close friends, due to being in the ministry, and the pedestal that some people seem to place us on. We just can't be human enough to sin, you know. (Said with tongue in cheek!) Since we live on post, I am around all these 20-30somethings, so I don't fit in too well with them, and our church has mostly seniors who are 15+++ years older than we are.

So, that's a bit of who I am, and why I'm here. I've read a lot of your posts, and think maybe I could fit in here? I don't really seem to fit in very many places. That's ok.....most days. But, I KNOW that we are right where God wants us.....

Welcome! emoticon to our small team! May God bless your get fit and lose weight journey. I totally understand the hardest part of church fellowship is all of the good food.
My hubby says the Baptist song should say,"God be with you till we EAT again." LOL

Find an activity you ike to do and get moving. It can be done. I waited until I was 53 to get moving, but now it is a regular part of my life. We know that with our God ALL things are possible.

Happey weekend!

Hi ladies,
I have been married for 16yrs. I have 2 boys 8 & 10 :) My hubby has been the pastor of our church for 5yrs now. And I must say it has been more difficult than I thought it would ever be.
Also more rewarding. I have found as a Christian, we eat for everything! Celebration, mourning, visiting-- everything. And usually nothing healthy. Aaaargh!
Every since my last child I have been putting on weight. Not that I have ever been thin, but I use to be a lot more healthy and active. I miss that!
So I am praying with all of your support and with Gods help, I can lose the weight I need to be healthy again. emoticon

Welcome Karrie! My husband retired from the pastorate last June due to health reasons. We now live Germany. I am a principals and he is a high school counselor for the Dept. of Defense Schools in Kaiserslautern. Our student's parents are in the military.
I hope you find the support you need to keep losing. I made my goal weight the month we moved to Germany. THen due to life stressors and cutting back on my committment to health I have gained back 12 pounds. It is harder to lose now. Food here is too yummy nad we travel almost every weekend.
This spring I have to get back on track.

Hello ladies! I wanted to take a minute and introduce myself. I just joined the team, but I was a member a while back. But, I am back now and ready to lose some weight!
I am married to an amazing man who is a Children's Pastor. He has been in the ministry for about 6 years or so, but before that we were very involved in the Children's ministry as lay leaders. I have 3 adorable kiddos - 9 year old boy, 7 year old girl and 3 year old boy. I am a stay-at-home mom. I am looking forward to jumping on this journey with you all!

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:13

Today is the day He has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!!!!!

Beth, first and foremost, you are welcome to join our team - this is an incredibly supportive group.

Second, I have to tell you a little about me. I have been a PW now for 7 1/2 years. You should have heard my friends howl when they learned that I was dating a pastor....if that tells you anything. I have been a Christian all my life, raised Catholic, became Presbyterian about 6 years before I met my husband, and became a Lutheran when we got married.

As a Catholic adult, I almost never went to church.....really did not feel a connection, until MUCH later when I joined my first "real" church and became Presbyterian. I never realized how wonderful having a 'church family' could be. Being married to a pastor has it's ups and downs, but the first thing I had to do was get over the "not being worthy" thing, and you will need to work on that, too. Because God doesn't call perfect people, there are none. He calls workers who struggle like everyone else does.

Welcome,
Judy

1 step back, 2 steps forward!

With God, all things are possible!

Life isn't a destination, it's the journey!

Hi all, I'm not officially a pastors wife yet. I'm a wife. And my husband has been voicing a feeling of being called. The only step he's taken toward it so far is Lay Speaking classes. He's taken the first class and is scheduled for an advanced class in November. I'm scared. Don't feel like I'm cut out to be a PW but I told him 9 years ago when we got married that I would follow him anywhere he wanted to go for a job. Before we got together I'd been on many mission trips and always felt like I belonged in the mission field when I returned home. They were all short trips and the feeling went away after a while. I don't want my fear to keep him from answering the call. I don't know what I'm asking for here, I don't feel like I'm getting answers when I pray about it. I feel unworthy, unprepared maybe even unwilling. I know I need to take the focus off of me and put it elsewhere but the fact that this scares me makes that hard to do.

Hi all,

I'm a pastor's wife, a transplanted Californian living in the South, mother of two (ages 3 and 2), and a woman trying to come up for air after the last three years. My husband graduated from seminary when our first child was 10 weeks old; we moved across the country and jumped into a new life at a huge, historic church. When our daughter was 16 months old, we had a little boy.

It's been two years, and I have lots of weight to lose and am finally seeing some light at the end of the baby-parent tunnel. I'm looking forward to setting and meeting goals and discovering God's faithfulness in this area of my life. Like a lot of pastor's wives, I'm very busy (mentoring, teaching adult Sunday school, leading music once a month, leading a Bible study); I have a few other things on my plate, too, and am learning to balance it all with being a helpmeet to my husband and a good Mommy.

I sought out this group because I think pastor's wives have a unique calling, and I could really use support and encouragement from some women who have been at this longer than I have. I could also REALLY use your prayers.

Thanks!
Kate

Hi...I'm Sandy... known as beestronger... I have been a Pastor's Wife for about 21-22 years in the So. California area... San Fernando Valley... We have a small church that is dedicated to the teaching and studying of the Word of God. We are Reformed in doctrine. I play bass and keys on our worship team. I teach piano, love spinning at the gym, lead a Mother/Daughter group called Keepers At Home and a small women's group. I've been on SparkPeople off and on for several years...I just joined a FirstPlace 4 Health group at another church and decided to see if Sparks had a team and they DO... it's a good Balanced Christian Diet and Exercise program... you can look at it on line if you wish... but I do like that it has daily Bible Study and Bible Memory as well as tracking food and incorporating exercise. I'm SO GLAD to be a part of your group... Be talking to you soon! oh! I'm 63, have one grown son, 3 grand kids and one great grad baby (although, sadly to say...they aren't married :( coming any day now.

For the Lord is good and His mercy endures forever...and EVER!

Hey, sorry, JudyPete, just saw this, and it may take you a while to see the reply, I think. TO stands for Theological Offspring. I forget that is really a G-ETS thing, not everyone uses that abbreviation. One daughter, 24 and one son, 21 = 2 TO's!

Hello Fellow Warriors!

I was so happy to see that this program has a "Pastor's Wives" page.

I guess I'll add what I already wrote on my page:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am 50 years old, very happily married, with 4 beautiful children, 8 gorgeous grandchildren, and a chi-weenie dog. My husband is my best friend. Jesus is my Lord and Saviour and is my bestest friend in the whole world. Jesus is the Lord of my life, but unfortunately I am struggling in making Him the Lord of my appetite.
A couple of days ago, I was getting frustrated because someone was shrinking all of my clothes. (As Joyce Meyer said). That caused me to weigh myself to find out the true reason my clothes shrunk. Today is June 16, 2010 and my starting weight is 350 lbs. I am a food addict.
My daughter-in-law introduced me to Spark People, and I now have a "spark" of hope that I will be able to get healthy through this program.
I appreciate Chris for starting this program, and I thank all of you ahead of time for all of your help in helping me on my adventure to getting healthy. Thank you!
God bless you and your family in abundance!
All Because of Jesus,
- CradledbyJesus
~~~~~~~~~

To add to this, I am the Pastor's wife of a non-denominational church that my husband pioneered 16 years ago, before this my husband was an Associate Pastor for about 5 years. I've experienced heartaches but also GREAT joys in the ministry.

I appreciate this Team's page and I'm looking forward to getting to know you and interacting with you.

I also want to thank SGMEACHAM and BELIEVE-IT for the kind messages and the "SparkGoodie" that they sent to me.

God bless you all and your families and your ministies in ABUNDANCE!

All Because of Jesus,

- Berta

I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me. - Philippians 4:13

Okay... I guess I should probably RE-introduce myself. It has been a LOOONNNGG time since I posted here, or checked in, or used my sparkpeople identity to even track my food.

And MAN, do I need help to keep this all up. Since I was last here, I have gone up another 10 lbs. to 210, and injured my left ankle (over 2 months ago, and I am still having pain...but it takes a while to recover from soft tissue damage). My plans for this summer have already been thrown a dozen monkeywrenches, so I am taking everything ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Gonna start over here, too, as though it were day 1!

So HI! For those of you who have joined since I disappeared, my name really IS Judi. I am the wife of a United Methodist Pastor in Illinois. I've been a PW for almost 27 years, and have two wonderful TO's. My daughter is 24, working two jobs and living at home. My son is 21, still completing his associates in Criminal Justice, and also at home. So we have a full house!

I am also a teacher's aide during the school year, but for now, just a Pastor's Wife-- that wonderful 24/7 job we all know and usually love!

Hope to get to know you all better this summer, but I also have a goal of spending less time in front of the computer, and more "on the road" to health!

Judi
