Hi Debbie - welcome to SP and welcome to our Team. It is great to have you here.

Don't be overwhelmed by the site - it is large, but once you have had a play for a little while it is actually very easy to navigate.

At the top of the page in the Healthy Lifestyle section are some great articles on Nutrition, Fitness and Motivation. If you haven't started, they are well worth the read.

My favourite tool is the nutrition Tracker. By weighing all of my food and recording it in there I have been able to keep a close eye on what calories I am consuming and adjust the carb/fat/protein intake when needed. I have also been able to lose just over 23kg (approx. 50lb) after having been overweight for about 30 years.

Remember, this is NOT a diet - it is merely a healthy lifestyle. Watch portion sizes, swap some unwise choices for some healthier ones, and get a bit more exercises. That works well. Just start off with baby steps, and then when your mind/body has adjusted to to, then add something else to the mix. Do the same with the calorie reduction too - don't drop a lot of calories at one go otherwise you just may end up feeling nauseous etc.

I suggest allowing yourself one day per fortnight to eat whatever you like. That way you are more inclined to stay on this journey and therefore attain your goal. If you do fall off the wagon tho, don't go beating yourself up for it. Just pick yourself up and start again.

Don't aim for a quick weightloss - they generally don't stay off - usually it is all put back on and then some.

If you have any questions just ask - there is usually someone around so a response shouldn't be too far away.

Try using the Nutrition Tracker (under My Tools) to jump start your weight management program. You'll also find a recommended range of calories, carbs, etc. to fuel your journey.
