Welcome to the team, Wendy!

You'll find a lot of support and ideas on the team and the site in general. I found the more I participated the more support and positive vibes I got. I wish you the best in your endeavors and achieving your goals.

Paul

4 Noble Truths

1. Suffering is a part of life
2. Suffering is caused by our attachments and avoidances.
3. Suffering can be ended.
4. Freedom from suffering is possible by following the Eightfold path.

Bigotry disguised as morality is still bigotry just as an outhouse with
marble columns is still an outhouse.

Yes!! Welcome to the team. Let's do this in 2010. I also lost and regained weight this past few months. Good news is we know we ca do it because we've done it before. It is LIFE!

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome. I truly appreciate your support! I am looking forward to my journey here and hope to remain an active participant in the forums.

Kris, thank you for taking the time to respond in-depth to my post. My stroke was an ischemic stroke - they think it was a result of a sudden surge in my blood pressure/years of poorly treated blood pressure. It's all back under control now and I have the doctors approval to get back on the wagon. My weightloss last year was also monitored and approved by my doctor. I really think I would have been more successful had it not been for my stroke. Anyway, that is history I do not want to repeat. Onward and upward... or is it downward?!

Hello, Wendy, and Welcome!

You will find the tools and support here that will help you to achieve your goals.

Keep in touch - Best Wishes emoticon

I believe life is constantly testing us for our level of commitment, and life's greatest rewards are reserved for those who demonstrate a never-ending commitment to act until they achieve. This level of resolve can move mountains, but it must be constant and consistent. As simplistic as this may sound, it is still the common denominator separating those who live their dreams from those who live in regret. - Anthony Robbins

Hi, Wendy - welcome to our team. It is a great team to belong to, and with over 520,000 members, you will no doubt soon have a lot of friends from our team alone.

I read that you had lost a lot of weight quickly - not the best way to go, for health reasons, and because you are more likely to regain the weight, and at times, more. The ideal way is to take it slowly.

I was sorry to read of your stroke, too. My sister spent Xmas in Hospital after having suffered 2 small strokes. They came bolt-out-the-blue, as they have a habit of doing.

Because of your health issues, it is best that if your Dr isn't aware of what you are embarking on, that he/she be made aware so that you can be monitored properly. Perhaps, depending on the reason for the stroke, asking for a referral to a Dietician would be appropriate, also, so that you can be monitored properly be a qualified Nutritionist.

At the top of the page in the Healthy Lifestyle section are some really great articles on Nutrition, Fitness and Motivation. They are well worth the read. My favourite tool is the Nutrition Tracker. I weigh all of my food and record it in there. By doing that I have been able to remain focused and have lost just over 23kg (approx. 50lb) in 16 months. I had been overweight for about 30 years.

Just take baby steps. Change one or two little things at a time, and when your body gets used to that, then add something else to the mix.

It has also been shown that members who remain active on the message boards, are more likely to achieve their goal, and then to maintain, than those who try to go it alone.

I hope to see more of you on the boards. If you have any queries just ask - there is usually someone around, so a response shouldn't be too far away.

Take care,
Kris

Hi there! My name is Wendy and I live in Atlantic Canada. I am a single mom of 3. Last year I participated in the local version of the "Biggest Loser". It expensive, comprehensive, and a whole lot of fun! I lost 60 lbs quickly and I felt great! Unfortunately, this past spring, I suffered a stroke. The good news is that I have pretty much fully recovered... The bad news is that I have regained nearly all of my weight in the process. I am out of cash to join gyms and local groups, so I am hoping to find the support I need here!
