Hello Everyone,

My name is Ali, and like everyone else I have never been skinny. I have always struggled with my weight and everyone around me telling me that it is just something that I would need to live with. I started with spark page over a year ago and never really taken anything seriously until I weighed myself for the first time in years about 2 months ago. I am at the highest weight of 272. In the past 2 months I have been able to drop 10 lbs, but not with out struggle. emoticon I am hoping to find the right spark team that can help me stay motivated since all my friends are skinny and have always been skinny they have no consept of what I am going through. I look forward to getting to know everyone. . Not to mention this spring is a 20 year class reunion. I would mind foing in and no one recognizing me LOL. I would like to show some of those who told me to live with it and that what they thought impossible was possible and not to mention I need to stay alive for my children. This is going to be a journey of a lifetime for me.

Ali

Hello My name is Keito and I am not new to Sparkpeople but new to this sparkteam.
I'm 24 going on 25 in december, it's kind of a wake up call saying HELLO you'll never achieve your goal if you don't work at it! So that's what I'm trying to do.

I'm half Japanese and half American, look 100% Caucasian anomaly, haha. ( When I was little thought I was adopted, or mom had an affair) All my brothers look "half" as Japanese call the mixed races. And I'm the only one who's never been skinny in my whole family. My mom has acquired lbs and so did my aunts, unlike me who's had them since I was little.

I haven't really been on here in quite some time because I was, lets face it, lazy.
So now that it's starting to get to be fall and I don't get to be outside all the time, and hanging out with all my friends every day or every weekend I have some time to sit in front of the computer and log on.

From looking at what this team is about I can't wait to participate. As this group is all about people who've had either had weigh issues or not been in the "skinny" range on the physical charts I think you all could help myself be motivated! I can't wait to participate in all the Team challenges and discussions!

Sorry for the rambling. I tend to do that a lot.

Hello everyone!

My name is Kristina and, like all of you, I have never been skinny. I have had issues with my self image and weight ever since I can remember - around kindergarten actually.

I hit my highest weight of about 300 lbs in high school. I have managed to lose about 100 lbs on my own over the years, but it's been a constant battle of losing 30 lbs then gaining 20 back and continuing the cycle.

I am tired of being motivated purely by the number on the scale. I just turned 26 a couple of days ago and I refuse to be unhealthy as I get older, start a family, and have the confidence I need to be successful in my career.

I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you. =D

Hello I'm 28 and have always been a plus size person. I have been on this site for a little over a week and am happy to see other people that have "never been skinny". I don't want to be skinny. I just want to be healthy. One day I might want to have children and I want to be healthy enough to do that. I work full time in ministry and am totally BUSY!

Hey there! My name is Lorelai and I'm 25 (just turned 25 and can't stop writing 24. I think I'm in denial!) Like all of you beautiful ladies, I've struggled with weight my whole life. For a short time in college I was a decent size (though never thin), but stopped walking and being active when I graduated and put on almost 100lbs afterwards. In the last couple of weeks I have lostabout 20 pounds, and now have signed up for Spark for the motivation and encouragement to keep going.

Several of you have mentioned needing a weight loss buddy. I'm more than happy to be someone's buddy and do the best I can to encourage and share ideas/frustrations/celebrations. However, unlike many of you impressive women, I am not married and do not have children. So I may not have great insights on handling life with a family and weight loss at the same time, but I'll try my absolute best. Good luck ladies, and please message or friend me if we can help each other out!

Love,
Lorelai

Heya! It was cool to find this group. I'm been thinner than I am now, but never actually thin. I don't think that is something people can relate to unless they have also experienced it.

I also like the idea of a buddy. Being accountable to an actual person would be very motivating, and it would also be nice to have someone to talk to who is going through the same struggles.

Hi! I loved the fact that there was a team on here that focused on people who have never had the wonderful experience of being thin. I, like many people on SP, have tried and tried to lose weight but I always lose my momentum and end up on the couch cursing myself and my half-cocked efforts. I see people have been talking about a buddy and I think that would help me out a great deal. I always work harder when someone else is rooting for me! :) Good luck to all of you who have taken the step to become a better you. Whatever the goal or the reason may be.

Hello

I am 30, a recent college grad, a divorced mother of 2. My motivation is my boy's, my 7yo has picked up some of my bad eating habits, since changing my lifestyle he is doing better and talks about exercise all of the time. He wants to do yoga and Zumba with me and I am thrilled to teach him. I want to give him the tools now to be healthy, this way when he is my age its just second nature to him to exercise. I feel amazing already! I hope that I can keep it up.

Hi I'm Nicki. I am 27 and I own a small crochet business. I have a great husband and an awesome 20 month old daughter. My daughter is my biggest inspiration for getting healthier. I want to be able to play with her on the floor, run around crazy without gasping for breath, I want to see her grow up and get married, ect. but I know none of that will happen unless I change my habits. I am not on a diet but I am trying to make smarter choices and small changes so I can eventually get to where I want to be. I have always been big. I grew up being made fun of because of my weight. I don't want my daughter to grow up like that.

I WILL do it!!

I'm Robyn, 25, and a substitute high school teacher. I'm trying to lose weight for a variety of reasons, but mainly to help with some fertility issues. When I started on SP this round, I weighed in at 235 and I've already started to lose some, but there's still plenty more to go.

The name's Rocky, I'm a 22 year old, who needs to dispose of the weight I carry around. Been working on it for a good 3 months now, lost 42 lbs. Started well over 430, but can't remember the exact number. I'm looking to continue this trend, and to share and gain information from the folks on SP. Happy trails y'all.

Hello ladies! I'm a 34-year-old mother of one 5-year-old who works from home as a writer. I need to lose at least 80-100 pounds before I start trying for baby #2 next year. Ultimately, I want to lose another 140ish pounds (which would make for a total loss of 190). I let myself gain WAY too much weight that first pregnancy! My main goals are to get healthier and more active but of course the weight loss is an important personal goal, too.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone here.

I joined SP a couple of months ago and I have not been motivated enough to lose weight yet. I have quite a bit to lose and need a good support group to keep me motivated.

I am trying to get myself on track. It is hard when you live among people who do not have to or just do not worry about how many calories goes into their body daily.

I am ready to get focussed!

Hey everyone!

I never did formally introduce myself. I'm Bee, 25, and have struggled not only with my weight but with body dysmorphic disorder my whole life (I was never the twiggy/skinny type therefore I always thought I was fat. I also had a very verbally abusive father who always called me fat which didn't help). I have always felt I was over weight but it wasn't until I became really heavy that I could look back and appreciate what I was and see myself in a different light. Getting fat was the best and worst thing to happen to me. It just sucks now trying to get it all off!! emoticon But that's why I'm here. To support others and receive some support myself; to achieve my goal with thousands of others who are also achieving theirs!!

Together we are strong!!!! emoticon

hi everyone,

my name is tracy and i'm 38. i've always been fat and there's very rarely anyone in the room fatter than me.

i don't want to be skinny, i just want to be healthy and be able to buy clothes that i like not just because they fit.

i'm an emotional eater and i've had a fairly rough ride up til now with a marriage breakdown, being attacked, supporting my parents through cancer, a brain tumour and mental disability. the emotion all gets stuffed back inside with pizza and cake.

well, no more!

i want to feel attractive for the first time in my life. i want to be able to bend over and tie shoelaces. i want to be able to cross my legs for the first time!

not life changing goals, but important ones for me. i'm hoping that support from some of the people here will help me realise some of my goals. i clearly need help...

onward!

Hi My name is Sarah. I am 29 and I am at my heaviest ever. I got down to 200 about 6 years ago when my life was less busy. I have gained 25 pounds in the last year, due to stress with health problems of my daughter's, my daughter having surgery then being in casts, plus her recovery. Three days after my 29th birthday back in March my mother passed away...she died of congestive heart failure and she weighed over 500 pounds. After dealing with all of that in a not so healthy way, I am now getting it together and changing my life. I want my daughter to be healthy by example (my example).
I am starting something great...the rest of my life.

Hello everyone, I'm Cassie. I'm 24 and a mother to a 16 month old girl. Everything I remember growing up was people telling me I was so pretty, I could be a model if I lost weight. However, I was never given any help or direction on how to lose that weight. In college I joined an aerobics class and lost 15 lbs the first semester. I got cocky thinking I beat the freshmen 15, gained it all back over winter break, then gained another 50 lbs the next semester. I am more determined than ever to lose weight. I gained more weight during pregnancy and haven't lost it all. I set my goal at 51 lbs by my daughter's second birthday, and plan to reevaluate for another 30 on top of that!

Hi my name is Stacey! I am a new member and I am looking to find my true self. People say that inner beauty is all that matters and I am a firm believer of that. However, it is important for people to love all of themselves and this includes their physical body as well. This is why I want to lose weight and become healthier. I want to love all of myself, not just half of myself.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Gina. I am 37, married, and the mother of five, active, teenagers. I can't remember a time when I was not over weight. I was the one that kept slowly packing on the pounds until one day I didn't recognize the person staring back at me in the mirror. So, I went on a diet, and lost 60 pounds. Then tragedy struck, and I gained it all back, and some. Every since, I kept saying I'm going to loose this weight starting tomorrow. I have had several failed attempts. I am now having some health problems that I didn't have before. I realize its not an option. This is my life, My future. Its time to get serious. I am trying to find a place to fit in here on SP so I can find some support, motivation, and friends that are going through the same things that I am. Based on the scale at my house, I weigh 288 pounds but it constantly changes so I really don't think its reliable. I want to get down to between 160-170 pounds. So, I have about 115 pounds to loose. Well, I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Best Wishes,
Gina

Hi I'm Patricia and like many others, I have always been overweight. I like to think it started with the over abundance of processed food that we had growing up, coupled with the fact that I wasn't much of an athlete or a dancer. In my teen years I always managed to stay just below that 200 mark.

In college I gained the Freshman 15, and the upperclassmen 35 (that's a thing right?)

At my first professional job, I was surrounded by free (unhealthy) food and sat at my desk all day. I didn't just gain experience at that job, I gained another 40lbs!

As a 25 year old with a lot of life left to live, I know I can't blame my genes or anything else for this weight gain, since I obviously have lead a pretty sedentary lifestyle. But I have been changing that this year, and hopefully I can reach my goals!

Look forward to meeting everyone!

xoxo

Hi! My name's Mary, and I live in Sonoma County, CA. I was always about five or ten pounds overweight until I went to college. After that, my weight just spiraled out of control. Today, at 58, I'm massively overweight and sick of being "that ugly fat lady."

I'm looking forward to meeting all of you.

I was always what people considered to be chubby growing up. Although, I was always over weight I was also fit. Very much into sports and working out. So I guess you can say I was a “healthy chubby” if that makes sense. . .Well I have always been a emotional eater and well a few years outta high school I let my emotional eating grow completely outta control—I gained 50 lbs in slightly over a year. Lol, I quickly became an un-healthy chubby. Not working out, eating fast food all the time, coming home from work to watch T.V.
Well this is me breaking changing, I am not always going to be that “chubby girl”. This is me taking control over my emotional eating and making a life style change! This life style change is not just me changing my eating a fitness habits, but me changing my attitude as well. Looking at life differently, loving myself and embracing my flaws.

Hello my name is Jennifer and I am 28 years old. I have been having a lot of trouble with my weight over the last 3 years. In 2008 i lost 25 pounds in 6 months by working out like crazy for 4 days a week...i always watched what i ate and was not depended on food, well now that is not the case. everything i do is all about food and im not sure why. my mind thinks that i have to have something chocolate everyday and that is not good cause then it is accompanied by peanut butter which is good for me but not at the same time. also when watch what i eat all day then i have no motivation to work out at all. i have been right around the 200 210 range, and im glad that i have not gained in months but the point is i am not losing but i know exactly why, its because i dont work out. i run a daycare and i am always on the go with the kids but i am used to that everyday so i am having a lot of trouble being motivated enough to do extra exercise. me and two other friends are going to start walking twice a week and that will be a start but i need to start hitting it hard...i have done this before and i really want it to stick this time and change for my daughter and I!! i want to look at myself and be proud of what i know i can do and what i want to do really bad!!

My name is Sara and I am 29 years old. I've been floating around 200 pounds for a few years and and am SO TIRED OF IT!! I have made some half a@%ed attempts to be healthier but life keeps coming up and I fall off the wagon. This time I'm for real! I've lost weight in the past but never been able to keep it off. I lose my motivation and then quickly gain everything back (and then some). I don't want to be a fad dieter, I don't want to be one of those people who picks at their food and keeps a calorie counter at the ready and I don't want to feel uncomfortable in my own skin anymore. I want to live life to the fullest, have fun, meet new people, and be healthy! I'm hoping this team can help me keep my motivation up. Looking forward to participating!!

Hello everyone.

My name is Sarah and I just turned 21 early May. I have been a part of sparkpeople and this team for quite some time. I have told myself again and again that I would use the resources given here and the connections with people to help me reach my weight loss goals, but I would always find an excuse not to or I would get distracted by life and put my health on the back burner.
I have been a big girl all my life. I come from an overweight/obese family, so I've always told myself it is in my genes and I can't fight it. That it is a losing battle. Most of my childhood, I was an active girl but I was always large.
February, some of my questions were answered. It started with being diagnosed with psoriasis. From there, my doctor did some more digging and I was diagnosed with PCOS. And just like that, my body shape, my tendency to store fat...a lot of things made sense and it gave me an enemy to focus on. Thanks to the birth control, I've finally cried a lot of my frustrations out and I think I'm ready to do this now. I'm tired of being uncomfortable in my own skin.
So consider this my battle-cry. The disease will not win over me, and I will be healthy, beautiful, and confident. And no one, not even myself, will take that away from me! emoticon

Hi Everyone,

My name is Pam. I'm 30 and have always been over weight. I fluctuate from over weight to obese. When I've been at my smallest, I'm usually still in the over weight category. I'm really hoping that this group can help provide me with some motivation and support.

I started the sparkpeople website 2 weeks ago and I have lost a few pounds, but my weight goes up and down every day, so it's hard to stay positive, but I', trying.

I live with my two sons and husband. I work at a desk job and go to school, so I'm sitting on my butt all day most days of the week.

Good luck to everyone and to me too! emoticon

A thankful heart is a happy heart.

I can do anything and so can you!

Hi, my name is Becca. I am a happily married stay at home mom to 4 of the most amazing kids. My oldest is 4 my youngest is 6 months. Needless to say I stay busy and God has blessed me tremendously. My weight has always been a problem that I always tried to ignore, but the heavier I got the worse I felt, the more I ate. I eat when I'm bored, stressed, sad, happy, lonely, or whenever. I have a family where food is the center of every get together or function. I've found that I start a lot of thing but finish few bc I never am able to commit 100%. I'd like to finally change that. I've never been thin and probably never will be. That's okay with me. I just want to be healthy and comfortable in my own skin. So hi :)

Hey, my name's Austin, live in Brandon FL. I lost 50lbs before I was introduced to sparkpeople, but still looking to lose more and tone up. I grew up chubby since I really remember, and it just got worse and worse over the years. One day I said "enough" and started dedicating myself to losing weight. My fiance has been a huge help and I'm glad I could help her as well.

A little more about me:
I love MMA and self-train Muay Thai. I'd love to find some sparring partners. I'm a graphic designer, do a little bit of everything from photoshop to Maya. I'm a musician, play guitar, bass, drums, turntables, and scream/sing. I love an array of music, mostly rock and metal, but I used to DJ so I also love mixes and some club/techno.

Hello! My name is Jennifer (but everyone calls me Jenn) and I am from Oregon. I have been larger than normal most of my life starting when I was in 2nd grade. My mom was in an abusive relationship and I am an emotional eater. At the beginning of the year, I hit my highest at 266 pounds and I told myself if was time for a change. It has been almost 7 months and I have lost 42 pounds so far, with 60 to go!

I work full time, have two small kids, go to school full time and somehow find time to sleep. =) I am hoping the support here will help me along my path!

Hi everyone! My name is Mave. I'm Puerto Rican, live in Florida, and am struggling. lol. I need so much prayer that it is ridiculous. It seems to me that every morning I wake up a success, but every night I go to sleep a failure. One thing I have tried has been small meals to keep my hunger in check, and it has worked. However, for some reason, whenever I come home from work I get hungry and eat the "bad" stuff. My family is not along for the ride unless I'm ON the bandwagon. It's difficult for me because I have yet to master that elusive food control again, and it's weighing on me (literally!) I'm hoping that today (6/27) I can start over (yet again) and actually do what I have to do to be healthy, beautiful, and skinny--in that order. I want to say that I am EXTREMELY happy that I joined this spark team because you ladies have been nothing but sweet and welcoming and I KNOW I made the right decision in clicking that button. Thank you in advance for your support!

All it takes is a steady mind, a determined attitude, and a strong heart.

I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME-- Phillippians 4:13.

Hey everyone! I've only been on SparkPeople for a few days now, still learning my way around the site. So much info so lil time! But its all really good info. Anyways, I've finally built up the guts to introduce myself. Names Crystal, I'm 26 and recently engaged to an amazing man who has inspired me to feel better about myself. He loves me as I am but he knows I'm not as confident in my skin and that hurts him to see me suffer. So here I am! Ready to do this and stick with it this time! I'm no longer living my life just for myself. I want to live a long and happy life with my soon to be hubby.
I've been battling with my weight since I was 5yrs old. My parents had tried to help me with my weight from the start, I remember drinking slim fast for lunch in 6th grade. Sigh, but as a rebelling teen, I fought my parents on it. The more they pushed, the more I rebelled. When I got into high school that's when it really got to me and I tried diets on my own, so many I lost count. I couldn't stick with them.
After high school, I worked on being confident in my skin the way I was. I guess I was successful enough to eventually find Mr. Right. I love him so much and we have so many plans for the future. That's when it hit me, the future...I want to have a future with him but could I guarantee much of one the way I was going with my weight? He went through the same thought process and lost over 50 lbs himself. I worked right along and lost about 30 lbs myself. After that I kinda just got stuck and being stuck so long I started to give up. That's when I came upon SparkPeople.com. It has renewed my hope and lit the fire in me again to continue on. I am so excited to finally reach my goal and I'm looking forward to meeting some awesome people on this journey!

Hi All! I'm Dana. I'm 35 and just joined Spark People. I've been on WW for 2 months now, and can't seem to lose more than the 10 I lost to start. I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm eating more calories than I should while staying within my points. Going to try logging at both places for a bit to see if it will help me figure out what's going on. :)

Anyway, a bit about me: I live between Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY, I have one daughter who is 18 and a step-daughter who is 14, I am mommy to lots of fur babies (2 golden retrievers and 4 cats, currently) and just graduated with my bachelor's degree in Education (Elementary 1-6, Social Studies 7-9).

Hoping to find some encouragement and motivation on this site and hoping I can make some permanent life changes to lose weight and become more healthy!

Hi everyone, I have never been skinny since the day I was born. Life as an overweight child/teen was especially hard living with a skinny older sister who could wear anything, play sports and get any guy she wanted. I can remember being on a diet at age 6 eating a healthy choice dinner and wanting to eat pizza like everybody else. I have learned a lot in my 23 years on this earth and I have realized that no one can force me into this journey. I have learned to love myself being plus size and I love myself enough to start this journey of losing weight and getting healthy. I am excited about being apart of this group, because I can identify with you guys.Thank you for being so welcoming and supportive, I greatly appreciate it!
