Hello Phyllis!

When my son was on a special diet, the family did it with him and I got him involved in cooking with me. He took over making lunch. He would make a menu with a daily special and come take out orders. When he was in high school, he fought us on the diet and would cheat on it all the time. Once he figured out that he felt better when he stuck to the diet, he stopped fighting us.

I did call a grocery store's produce manager and set up a "field trip'. He got a tour of the grocery store and learned about more foods to try. It wasn't easy, but being a parent never really is, is it?

Hello! I am trying to be more active (both in real life and on here) in an effort to build motivation for getting healthier. I do well for a few months, then fall off the wagon in a big way and can't seam to climb back on. I hate how I feel and how I look. I am trying to adopt the mantra I repeat to my kids "Progress; not perfection"

I live just outside St. Louis, MO with my husband and 5 kids. Before becoming a SAHM 3 years ago, I was working as a Data Analyst. Now I'm taking more data science courses online. Not sure if I will reenter the workforce soon or not, but my brain needs some exercise above what I do with my toddlers.

I would really like to do away with these 30# that just keep coming back.

I've become obsessed with cooking in the Instant Pot lately. I've been trying to see how long I can go without turning on the stove/oven this summer.
I miss spending time with my sewing machine. I used to spend time with her every night. Now by the time I get the kids to bed and clean the kitchen, I just want to crawl into bed.

Hi! My name is Phyllis! Married to Pat for 36 years. We have 5 children. Him and hers. 3 of them have passed. We adopted our granddaughter on 5 March 2010 at the age of 1 yr 2 months. My husband was 62 and I was 55 at the time. She is 10 yrs 5 months.. She is a handful but also the joy of our life's. I have been on Sparkpeople on and off for awhile. This time I would like to find a friend who we can help motivate each other. Give ideas to loose this weight and keep it off. I weigh 319. It is hard because my husband weighs 345. He knows all the diets etc to loose the weight which he can but puts it right back on. I am a Christian. My hobbies are reading, genealogy, crafts, sewing, crocheting. I can knit a little but its not my favorite thing to do. Also is there anybody that has a a child on a special diet? Irene has a fatty liver which her Mom had and passed in Nov 2017 from Cirrossis. It started from NASH.. Irene is suppose to be on a strict diet. No dairy except a little rice milk on her cereal. She can have turkey, chicken and fish. All white meat. No bananas No beef no rice. No sweets She is suppose to only drink water. Any ideas to make it easier and fun for her. I hope to hear from you soon. Take Care Phyllis emoticon I live in Arizona born in Massachusetts.

Hello all, I'm Jacqui and I'm new to the group, though not overly new to SparkPeople. Been trying to lose weight since....1994....so it's been a long war but I've decided to take a different approach this time. I've tried it all, low-cal, low-fat, low-carb, fasting, eating whatever-whenever, exercise, pills, you name it. I'm taking everything I've learned over the last few years, throwing in a few new tips and tricks I've picked up, and I will be starting the next chapter of my life when I return from a business trip on December 17th.

I am a 40 year old mom of a 3 year old, and we are hoping to start trying again in late summer 2018, as we will have just come back from a vacation (haven't had one of those in 7 years).

I'm really focused on losing this weight. I want to lose 60 pounds by June, which will be about 10 pounds a month. It's a very ambitious goal, but I want to be comfortable in my skin for my vacation, and I want to be as healthy as possible by the time I get pregnant. I also have not been that weight since high school...and will also still have about 30-40 pounds to go before the doctors will get off my case about being obese, but small victories, right?

Now on to the questions:

1. Where do you live? Country? State? in town? in the country? I live in the US - Massachusetts.

2. A bit about your family? Married? Kids? Significant other? Grandkids? I'm married for 8 years this Spring, have 1 child (3 yo), and hopefully another in the next year or two

3. What do you do? Retired? Looking for a job? I run/manage the US headquarters and satelite offices of an Austrian high tech company (sounds much more important than it is) but mostly I do about 5 people's jobs (HR, finance, facilities, shipping/receiving, marketing, sales support).

4. What you are hoping for or looking forward to in 2017? This could be a planned wedding or birth, an anticipated retirement, a knee replacement, loss of 10 pounds! I'm not looking forward to anything in 2017....2016 and 2017 have been hell, I've gained, lost, and gained the same 15 pounds, lost a pregnancy, moved, moved my in-laws next door to me, am dealing with parental illnesses, a grandmother dying of cancer, my child becoming a mouthy three-nager, and a boss who is driving me nuts with his micromanaging. In 2018 I'm looking forward to losing 60 pounds, having the most amazing vacation ever, and then getting easily pregnant the first time we try (fingers crossed because IVF is hell on earth)

5. Two random facts about you that we likely don't know. Could be a hobby, your favorite song and why, whatever!! Random facts about me....married to a woman (thus the IVF) and I just got cable after being without it for 3 years (our choice)...and I'm so thrilled WIll and Grace are back on, just in time

Hi All,

I'm new to the LIL Mommies group & figured I'd reply to Janet's 'Getting to Know You' questions below.

1. Where do you live? Country? State? in town? in the country? - I work in Boston & live about 10 miles North of the city.

2. A bit about your family? Married? Kids? Significant other? Grandkids? - I am married with a 4 1/2 year old daughter (going on 14) and a 6 year old fur baby (dog). Had my daughter when I was 43 and am quickly approaching my 48th birthday.

3. What do you do? Retired? Looking for a job? - work in the corporate insurance industry

4. What you are hoping for or looking forward to in 2017? This could be a planned wedding or birth, an anticipated retirement, a knee replacement, loss of 10 pounds! - I has a complete & utter melt down at the end of Sept. about the weight I gained over the summer (about 10 lbs.). My friend & I joined Weight Watchers for 3 months & I lost most of the weight, but have gained a bit back. Am looking to drop in the neighborhood of 5-10 lbs., but my main goal is living a healthier lifestyle so I can not only be around, but be active & fit when my daughter is older. It's tough as finding time to work out (if I don't get up early, which is hard to do since I already get up before 5 am to go to work) takes time away from my daughter.

5. Two random facts about you that we likely don't know. Could be a hobby, your favorite song and why, whatever!! - my husband & I met playing flag football & I come from a VERY large extended family - I have over 50 first cousins (can't even count how many 2nd & 3rd).

Welcome to the team! I'm a homeschool mom too. My son is 11 1/2 (with autism) and my daughter is 15. She may be going back to private school in August. We'll see....

Hello!

I am 51 and have 5 children. My oldest is a boy of 22 who moved out this fall when he left for grad school. The rest are girls (20, 18, 12, 10). The two oldest girls are away at college, while the younger two are here at home. All have been homeschooled from day one.

My husband, who I have been married to for almost 30 years, likes us to keep anonymous on the internet. I like to keep him happy, so there will be no pictures or information identifying our location. A fellow Sparker referred to me as Kohl in a post, so I am pleased to have a go as Kohl.
