10 out 10 almost describes my passion for: My family

9 times out of 10 I'd eat (calories aside): pizza from a local family owned pizza restaurant.

8 hours a day at my dream job: still searching...

7 days on a dream vacation would be spent: at the ocean, at an oceanside house where I can walk out the door onto the beach with my morning coffee in hand!

6 seconds after I launch my Internet browser I'm checking facebook

5 minutes is all the time I have for (pet peeve): constant complainers

4 stars is my rating for (TV/Movie/Book): TV: Project Runway; Movie: Mama Mia; Book: any Dan Brown

3 things always in my kitchen: onions, garlic, olive oil

2 people (living or dead) I wish I could meet: the President, and Patrick Swazye.
1 thing that might surprise most people about me: I'm not stuck-up, I'm so shy around new people until I get to know them. I don't know what to say.

10 things about me

1. Married for almost 2 years

2. I have one son, 3 and I was 43 when I had him.

3. My favorite color has been purple for as long as I can remember.

4. I quit a job that I had 22 years at to stay home with my son. Staying home was the best job I every had, sadly it lasted only 14 months and it was back to work. Luckily, I found a job before the recession hit.

5. I love to golf, dance and bake.

6. I have 2 brothers, 1 sister, 5 nieces and 3 nephews. They are great friends that just happen to be related to me. My nieces and nephews let me practice on them before I had my own son (Sorry for letting you fall off the changing table, Kayla!)

7. I talk to my mother every other day. She inspires me to stay motivated. My father passed away 6 years ago. She always keeps busy, takes care others and keeps a positive attitude. She just moved into a new condo and is loving the lifestyle.

8. I have the best husband. He helps with the laundry, thinks I'm the greatest cook and loves me and our son more than I ever thought was possible.

9. I thought I was going to be single my entire life. I thought I was okay with that, but truly, I just wasn't willing to settle. I found the right one for me!

10. I wish I would have taken up golf at an early age.

That's funny, I didn't want children either (or so I thought), but turns out it was the ex husband I didn't want and didn't want him to be the father of my children! LOLOLOL

10 Things About Me:
1. I have two DD's, ages 6 and 8. I did not want children until I turned 35. Then, BOOM, my biological clock went off!
2. I have been married to my DH for 19 years.
3. I am passionate about crocheting. My dream job would be to be a crochet designer.
4. I love being a mom. I also volunteer at my kids school and I love being with the other kids. This is amazing since I used to think I did not like kids at all!
5. I have a good sense of humor and love to laugh.
6. I have a creative nature. I do all kinds of creative things like sew, knit, paint, bead, write, etc.
7. My DH and I have taken more than 15 cruises and it is a favorite vacation of ours. Of course, that was before kids!
8. I have a BS in Business, and owned my own salon before my kids were born.
9. I have lots of useless information stored in my head. I mean the kinds of things that win game shows or Trivial Pursuit. Not the kinds of things that make you a genius. My sister always said she was going to sign me up for a game show so I could turn that knowledge into money! emoticon
10. I know that every day is a gift. I know that for sure. Be thankful, loving and appreciative every day because life can change in an instant. Every morning, I pray for serenity, courage and wisdom. Serenity to accept what I cannot change, courage to change the things that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.

My turn:

10 things about me:

1) It took eight long years to get pregnant with my son, Nason. I still can't believe I have him. I as 38 when I had him.

2) I am secretly hoping for one more miracle baby. We are still trying and hope it works, but I don't really think it will.

3) I am a currently at home with my two-year-old son.

4) I am a teacher (it is a vocation and not a career) and I miss teaching terribly. I taught 8th grade for years (American history and English) but last year I had 5th graders. They were so very sweet.

5) I have been married for eleven years to the best man on earth!

6) I live in a rural community in MA and do not have any family nearby at all. My parents are in NC and my in law's and brothers are on Long Island. I grew up on Long Island.

7) I am passionate about American history and anything related to that. I read a lot about history particularly from the American Revolution through the American Civil War.

8) I worked as a costumed volunteer at a local outdoor historical village. I stopped after I had my son.

9) I have two dogs and one cat.

10) I am proud to be an American, believe in God and feel that we are very blessed as a country! God bless our military! My husband was in the navy for six years and we hope our son follows suit!

FERRALYN-Eileen , do you have a low-cal cheesecake recipe you can share with us? Not like your 'secret-secret take it to your grave' recipe but maybe a basic one? I love cheesecake as much as chocolate.

MEL9036- your little boy is a Darlin'!! Don't even get me started on the role playin' and Final Fantasy games!! LOL!! PhD. in...?

OKIEDOLL-Lily (LOVE your name!) I have 6 children (5 daughters and a son) 2 grandsons (1 and 4) and 2 grand-daughters (7 and 11) PLUS I collect dolls too! LOL!! Great, great, GREAT to have you here!

POOHPHOTO- your husband has an amazing survivor legacy and I am so happy for you and your son, that he is with you today! One daughter, one sister, one cousin, and one grandmother are/were RNs, with one cousin a Dr., and even my gr8-gr8-gr8 was 'the' one and only Dr./Vet in the territory back in the day! LOL! I am sooo sorry to hear about what your mother has had to suffer in the hands of an incompetent! There's a lot of EXCELLENT exercises to strengthen your knees and legs without giving you too much grief. Lots of floor exercises. WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME!!

Welcome ladies and thank you for sharing a bit about yourselves we probably wouldn't have otherwise known.

Pooh, there seems to be an unusally high number of LIL's who married engineers! Wow, what an amazing story both you and your husband have....is his work available on line that we could check out? Also, I have this thing for NICU nurses....so let me thank you on behalf of all NIC mommies around the world for taking on such a tough assignment and for all you do to keep our babies alive, all the support you offer during our times of need and all the comfort offered when the worst happens.

Elaine, the skydiving thing is kind of freaky, did you see in the news recently where a woman who went for her first solo dive, hit the ground as neither of her parachutes opened, she didn't know it but she was pregnant. Fortunately both she and her baby survived and the baby is now a thriving two year old, but her story just recently came out. I have to watch the games thing too....pogo was nearly the death of me! LOLOL

Edited to add: oh yea be careful with spark, it too can become an addiction....another lession i've learned since being here :)

Ten Things about me.

1) I am 41 and my husband of 12.87 years is 52. We married 3 weeks after we met.

2) My husband is a Buddhist from Thailand and became a US citizen on his fiftieth birthday. He does not have a weight problem and can eat anything. I am a Catholic from Texas.

3)My husband is a cancer survivor who 10 years ago was given 6 months to live. He was an Environment Heath and Safety Engineer but after his cancer treatments, he retired and became a award winning professional photographer.

4) We have an 11 year old son. We have home schooled him for the past three years. We have him tested each year to determine his level of education and this year he is doing 8th and 9th grade work. He is a Boy Scout and likes video games, soccer, golf, camping, and movies. He exercises and watches what he eats so that he does not gain too much weight. He wants to be an actor or to design new cars. He is a great kid.

5) I work full time as a RN in Labor and Delivery ( I also work in newborn nursery and NICU). I also work in my husband's studio. He has taught me photography and I have been doing very well in this area as well, even winning awards in photo competitions on a regular basis.

6) My mother is waiting for a liver transplant. She has to loose another 75 pounds just to be put on the transplant list. Her liver was killed my a medication a MD gave for over 15 years for a condition she actually did not have.

7) My foot was cut off 18 months ago by a pedestal sink that fell on it, and it was then reattached. Walking is still painful. I have gained 70 pounds since my foot was hurt and want to loose it plus more. Exercise is painful but I must persist.

8) We are trying to sell our home in East Texas and relocate to the Dallas area.

9) I love to read and spend hours a day on the computer (photography related). We have two small dogs.

10) I would love to have another child. (I have PCOS, poly cystic ovarian syndrome, and my husband has a low sperm count from his cancer treatments)

O.K. - 10 things about me:

1. I have three kids that keep me hopping - 6 1/2 Gwen, 5 year old Charlotte, and 10 month old Luke.

2. Here's a shocker - I've struggled with my weight my entire life even though, when I look back at old photos I don't think I was ever really "fat" until I was an adult, but always thought I was.

3. I was supposed to go skydiving for my 40th birthday but found out I was pregnant the month before the class started. Doh! Maybe this summer?

4. Irony - I make and sell cheesecakes from home, but don't particularly care for cheesecake. I'm just really good at them.

5. My husband is also trying to loose weight so at least I have a partner on this journey! It's not fair that he loses much faster than I do, though. I'm trying not to let that get to me.

6. I love love love games and have a tendency to become addicted to them (computer, video, even board games if I have someone to play them with me) so I really need to budget my time.

7. I was partner in a business for a short time where I did singing telegrams and was a clown for kids' parties - NIGHTMARE. I do not recommend this profession.

8. I will sing almost anything - just ask my kids.

9. My philosophy in life has always been "No regrets. You make the decision you make based on the experience you have and the strength of your character - to regret those decisions is pointless as they are only part of your past, not your future."

10. I think I'm in love with Keifer Sutherland - but don't tell my husband.

I don't do a lot of yoga so I'm not much help there. But I bet if you start a thread asking for help you'll get some great information from the mommies who do yoga.

Here are a few links I found, but again, I can't vouch for them one way or the other.

I love my job and remarkably it has been a big motivator in me loosing weight. How can I teach others about self control and staying away from things that are not good for you if I cannot do it myself. I have a food addiction just like the guys at the prison have addictions for drugs and alcohol. Normal everyday factors effect them just like things effect me and get me to eating. Just like today, I should be at work but the ice and sleet have kept me home and I am bored and if I am bored I want to eat. So I made some healthy soup, low in points and brought out my crochet. I am trying to stay busy and keep to my normal eating schedule. Thank you for the warm welcome. By the way where can I find good advise on starting yoga, I think I would really enjoy it.

Countrygirl, wow....you work in a prison, are you ever concerned about your safety, either physically or health wise....personally I don't think I could do it, but hey if that's your calling and you enjoy your chosen career, more power to you!

Congrats on your 25 pounds gone, you've obviously have worked hard to get where you are. As far as the exercise, the best advice I can offer is to find things you enjoy doing, it makes all the difference in the world!

WOW, where have I been all this time?! Nerys and Beta putting down your 10 things and me missing it?!! I was trapped in some time/space portal or transport, sooo... when I was 'supposed' to catch ya' on the flip--- I FLOPPED! LOL!

THANKS for that AWESOME idea of displaying vintage paper items under a glass top, over the dining room table! Boy, could I RUN with this idea!! LOL!! Glass tops on EVERY surface... (the wheels are turning...) LOL!!

Z-gads, girl, you REALLY are a space cadet!! Now that's somethin' to write home about!

No Muu-Muu, Tracy, okay... but I really like mine- has appliqued cats playing with balls of appliqued yarn all over it... kinda' one of those ugly-comfortable things, ya' know?

Beta... sooo very sorry for your loss. If ya' ever need us... just for... we're here...

btw, did I or anyone else chase you away from the Star Trek thread we're playing? You asked about who chose who so I got a list... but you didn't come back.

If you're uncomfortable picking a character or finding a pic, Tracy found a site that lists most characters and Katherine (WYOKATHERINE) found a site where you can get some gr8 pics.

grapes, almonds... I'm guessing southern latitudes...

Take Care,
Annie

I've never driven a tractor, but I have driven a skid-steer, which is sort of a mini-bulldozer.

NPR - this journey is a difficult one, so we might as well make it as fun as possible! Live long and prosper!

Beta, I'm so sorry for your loss.

I bet you can find several of us mommies who have driven a tractor and oddly enough many of us are bookkeepers/accountants....tee hee.

I think my daughter will probably stick with it, since she has been vegetarian for 4 years now. We do ok with it, actually, and support her, as long as she eats healthy and keeps learning about nutrition.

The NASA internship was so wonderful, and I still regret I did not take a full-time job there after college. It does help explain why I am a longtime SF nut, have seen every episode of every series of ST every made, and knew instantly which crew member I would be LOL. I know, a bit pathetic, but mostly harmless.

Oh, and the Hip Mama vs. the Muu-Muu Mama moments that I alternate between? They can happen on the same day sometimes- it's more a state of mind than a state of body for me. LOL. I have a feeling everyone on this board can easily relate.

OK, I really need to log my food, then log out for the night. Thanks so much for leading this team, and for the really fun Star Trek team challenge idea. It's goofy, and oddly motivating at the same time.

Welcome to the mommy circle of friends NPR, funny I think many little girls go through a vegetarian stage...I wonder if it will last? How cool was that an internship at a space center...wow how's that for fate (I see you're an official crew member of starship elliptical LOL)!

Now as far as "fabulously hot chic mamma", she's still there, we just have to liberate her from beneath a few pounds....so let's get to work cause there are no muumuu's allowed here!

Ten things about me:

1. I am 45, turning 46 this year, and alternate between feeling like I am still a fabulously-chic, designer-eyeglass wearing, 20-something Hip Mama, to feeling like a scooter-riding, grumpy, muu-muu-wearing Florida retiree. I believe this is also known as being "Middle Aged".

2. I have two beautiful daughters, ages 5 and 8, that are polar opposites and the loves of my life.

3. Mealtimes are a challenge in our family. My older daughter is a picky eater and a vegetarian by choice (refused to eat animals when she found out they were the source of meat), and my younger daughter will try anything once, including fried bug larvae. DH is also a picky eater, but I have trained him well over the years to eat what I cook.

4. I've had rheumatoid arthritis since my early 30's, which was when I developed weight issues. For me, the hardest part of RA is accepting that I really, actually, do have it.

5. I am very "loose-jointed", and can easily touch both palms to the floor and still bend my elbows, while keeping my knees straight. I can also touch my forearm with my thumb, and perform other, similar party tricks.

6. I left a full-time job 7 years ago, due to a cross-state move and ongoing health problems, and really miss working. I have occasionally worked part-time as a community college instructor, but the low pay, long hours, and inane politics were simply not worth it. I plan to return to work full-time in the fall, once my youngest starts kindergarden.

7. I seem to have an artistic bent, and wish I had more time to pursue crafts and home decorating. I am deathly afraid of sewing machines though, due to childhood trauma in Home Ec class (back when it was required for girls). My 2009 New Years resolution is to Get Over It, Already.

8. I once worked in Mission Control at Johnson Space Center in the 80's, as a student intern. It was way cool.

9. I am confident in my abilities to cook and eat well, but increasing my movement and exercise is my big challenge. The RA adds a tricky component. I am hoping that my new Wii Fit will let me tailor workouts to my daily health needs, including doing my exercises while still in my PJs.

10. I do not get enough sleep. This is a problem. I am fighting admitting that it is a problem. I really, really, really, need to change this.

PS Starlit41 - have you thought of displaying your vintage paper items under a glass top, over your dining room table? No dusting, and it would go with your dishes.

L.I.L.MOMMY, thanks for the 'way to go' on the home schooling thing, but... I wasn't alone (well... I was in AZ) but there were 'battles' going on all over the country- in states from the east coast, to the west!

It's 'funny' how you mention 'the dust' in 'collections' because... for YEARS I thought the same, but, about 3 years ago (yes, only three) I was thinking... (a dangerous pastime I know, LOL! from Beauty and the Beast) but, I was thinking, that... almost everybody I ever met had 'something' they collected or 'did' as a hobby and that I was almost abnormal because I didn't! LOL! Well... one thing led to another...

and, here I am! Ever since I was a little girl, dolls fascinated me- all dolls- upside-down dolls to paper dolls, and every single one of my dolls were discarded in my (military family) transfers from here to there, so my daughter's (Rebekah, Anna, Lydia, Hadassah, and Jordan- with one son, Nathanael) always had the BEST of dolls. They never really (except, Lydia) had any passion for them like I did, though.

Sooo... I have patterns, patterns, and MORE patterns for dolls... and every rag doll I've ever made, I've given (not sold) away- I even used to have (in the early 80's) a porcelain doll (with human hair) collection, but, I've given them all away too. Why? I don't know! LOL!! But, dolls make people (most people) happy so maybe that's why.

ANYWAY... at the present, my husband, Clint, carves, but he's really good at bringing wooden heads (even shaping them out of clay) to LIFE, sooo... with his likes for mechanical things, i.e. carousels, clocks, music boxes, mazes... etc. we've discussed designing marionettes (jointed puppets with strings) that he can put together, and I can (SLURP!!) costume (another 'drooling' obsession for me, LOL!) with scrapes of luscious fabrics and 'jewels' LOL! We may even get a few carousel horses, an elephant, giraffe, zebra... blah, blah, blah, into the act!

O-KEE-DOE-KEE, guess I better quit 'gushing' and get some EXERCISE in!

But you're right, I would LOVE to meet (become best friends- hey, pal, ol' buddy of mine... LOL!!) your BIL who brings home those SWEET little faces!! LOL!!

Catch ya' later!!
Annie

Annie, I love collections....especially in other peoples houses (I don't do collections as I hate to dust! LOL). You would just love to meet my BIL then he's a pilot and often flies to Russia, my SMIL has several nesting boxes from there thanks to him.

Isn't it amazing just how much strength and courage we have when we are fighting for what's best for our children, way to go on winning your battle and clearing the path for others to follow!

ALRIGHT-Y then... 10 things about moi'!

1. I listen to 'soundscapes' which is a mix of the sounds of nature, i.e. rustling of breezes, waves lapping, soft rain, brooks, waterfalls, songbirds, eagle's, hawk's, owl's, whale's... with flutes, cymbals, guitars, drums, children's laughter- it's just a combination of sounds. The study of soundscape is the subject of acoustic ecology.

2. I write stories, poetry, sketch (pencil/charcoal) paint (mostly oil) crochet, crewel embroidery, sew, make rag dolls, mobiles (kinetic art) and 'in my element' doing 'mixed media' from... collages that combine most of those art forms with textiles (yarns and weaves) to designing ANYTHING from bits of vintage (or not) 'junk' but... I am only a 'Jack of all trades and a Master of none' so I would not call myself an artist, but if I'm working on several projects (with the same deadline) at the same time- I'm HAPPY!

3. I'll stop to study a frog, moth, dragonfly, inch worm, 'lightening bug' or any 'strange little bug' with no fear (used to play with 'grand-daddy-long-legs' spiders and catch grasshoppers) and I could be quite content to set up a desk for all my 'scientific' specialties, studies, and sketches of ANY plants, rocks, shells... WHATEVER, etc. I come across.

4. I collect Russian Matryoshkas- wooden nesting/stacking dolls that have 'dolls within dolls' in them. Some of my dolls are 'chime' dolls that rock or tip and some of my dolls are egg shaped. They're also called Babushka dolls. I have tall skinny ones that are 'gift' dolls to put small gifts in, i.e. a small bottle of Vodka (LOL!!) and tiny ones for ornaments on trees... or even itsy-bitsy ones for jewelry. There's even some on my refrigerator as magnets. They are all hand carved and hand painted from all over Russia and the Ukraine.

5. Before (way back, before) home schooling was 'acceptable' I 'took on' the entire Board of Education in the state of Arizona for the right to home school, WAY back in 1977, and... WON! I guess I was a 'pioneer' for home schooling. I have 'the letter' of (are you ready for this?) congratulations to me FROM the state of Arizona and Board of Education in my keepsakes! A lot of mommies wanting to home school started contacting me after that.

6. All of the dishes in the house are all mis-matched vintage pieces of china. I figured... there's just too many 'pretties' in the world and I want them all. LOL! Besides, if one gets broke, there's no incomplete set! Sooo... if we ever 'get together' at my house... where ever you set your tea cup and saucer... just remember, i.e. your's had purple violets, and mine had yellow roses!

7. There are wooden Dutch shoes in my house! Some sit on shelves and others line the floor... there's even a few wooden shoe SHIPS that look like they're floating by or sailing away! LOL!! When I was a little girl (living in Flanders, New Jersey) I lived next to a Dutch family's farm... and their wooden shoes would line up outside the back door after evening chores were done.

8. I love old Valentines and vintage paperdolls and plan to collect them to display someday... hmmm... there's mostly collections of oil paintings (European city scapes and flowers in vases) on the walls already (not painted by me) and vintage bird figurines (many from the pre-WWII era, i.e. 30's, 40's, with some 50's) on nearly every living room shelf... but I'm SURE I'll FIND a place for them! LOL! I love collecting certain 'things' that make people feel at home here.

9. I DROOL thinking about what to 'do' research on- and that's just about in any subject there might be (that catches my interest) to 'do' research on! LOL! Cosmic, mystic, powers, encounters, psychic, visions, prophecies, dreams, mystery, time, space, magic, ancient wisdom, lands, people, culture, all the sciences... just about anything... and it especially intrigues me to search the depths of my soul.

10. I read J.R.R. Tolkien's, The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings, back in 1969, sooo... when the movies FINALLY came out (with all the incredible special effects) naturally, I'm IN LOVE with it, but the Harry Potter movies are FANTASTIC too! If you haven't seen Howl's Moving Castle, you've just GOT to!! I'm a HUGE fan of Final Fantasy VIII, though Final Fantasy VII, has caught my attention recently.

There ya' go- me in a nut shell! LOL!

TTFN (ta-ta for now)

Karen - Re adoption, it just depends on the country... When we adopted, India, China and Russia all had the largest age limit of 50 years between child and mother. So, you could adopt a 2 year old at age 52 or younger.... It may have changed, but I would rush right on it! Some places will also bump you up in the list if your age is about to time you out of the pool. And domestic, I don't think there is a limit, and certainly not for foster adoptions. I live in MD, and we attended a FACE conference (Families Adopting Children Everywhere) that gave a nice overview. I hope it works out for you!

Everyone laughs at that sarcasm thing when I tell them. :)

It is good that your husband stayed the same.

I'm trying to get my husband interested in this site so he can get motivated to lose some weight, actually. But I know you can really only lose weight when you want to and not because someone else wants you to.

I live in NY.

Been married for 6 years.

I'm 44.

I have three-year-old.

I feel like a criminal when I say I love snow, everyone here hates it.

I wear my husband's jeans cause mine don't fit... yet.

I want a puppy!

The holidays are usually the worst time for weight gain for me (and everyone I know).

I love soda. I wish I didn't. But I find I can go without it when I have to.

I once gave up sarcasm for lent and found I had a hard time saying anything.

Joann, my hubby comes from a family of sailors and although I love to sail or motor boat for that mater, I've never personally learned how to sail...so between now and retirment I need to learn how and to navigate as well. We actually haven't been on the ocean since I was pregnant....the last time we were on the ocean our 26 foot four winns cabin cruiser died and we had to be towed in, does kind of make you think twice about taking small children out but now that Michael is four no worries as long as the radio is working I'm ok with it......LOL

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Tracy, wow, BUILDING a cat? Sounds like a lot of fun. I have raced catamarans with my brother when I was younger. Do you sail now?

We bought a 26X MacGregor. The price was just too good to pass up. A lot of people that are 'into' sailboats do not consider it a 'real' sailboat because it has a motor & a keel that pulls up for trailoring. We like it because we can take it to various lakes throughout CA & if the wind dies down we can 'cheat' & motor home. ;-) It is pretty user friendly. We do hope to get a cat to play with when the kids are older...that is if they continue to enjoy boats.

Right now I am not comfortable going on the ocean with the kids. We are dreaming of the days when we can go to Catalina island for a few nights though!

So far we have gone to Big Bear Lake a few times. We have one more trip planned before we stop for the season & concentrate on fixing her up a little here & there. It is addicting, LOL!

Thanks again for the warm welcome!

New here...this looks like fun.
My name is JoAnn... another LIL Mommie here, 43yrs young two under 5.

Here are my 10:

1. My DH & I will be married 11 yrs in Jan 09.

2. I worked from home until the company shut-down in 2005 & have been a SAHM since.

3. I am housework challenged! Music helps get me going, but it still overwhelms me most days....I too would rather push a lawnmower! ;-)

4. We have two large dogs & one noisy macaw. The macaw calls my DD by name when he wants a treat (cracks me up everytime)

5. I discovered I love camping! (but then again, maybe I am just escaping the housework, lol!)

6. DH & I decided to start a family hobby & bought a sailboat. We've taken it out 2 times so far & LOVE it. We call it our 'floating camper'.

7. I too lost a child during pg in 2002...I was 28wks, it was my 1st pg...she changed my life. I think I am just recently begining to 'accept' the event.

8. Very Christian, although I do not have a church I attend.

9. My DD is going to be 5 next month & my DS just turned 3 a few weeks ago. They are the lights of my life!

10. I am exercise challenged. While I always feel great when I get it done, I STILL have a hard time getting it done. I need a KICK...seriously.

1. I am 48 1/2 years old.
2. I am a SAHM to a 10 yo DD. Although she's only 10, she's in 6th grade having skipped kindergarten because she was reading already. I also have a "fur child" - an 18 mo old yellow lab named Cody.
3. I've been married for 25 years.
4. I've had brain surgery 13 times (one them while I was pregnant and didn't know it yet.) Because of these surgeries, I am not allowed to do any aerobic exercise. This makes weight loss a very difficult thing especially when you are taking steroid replacement drugs.
5. I have a degree in electrical engineering, but learned that while I enjoyed studying engineering, I did NOT like doing it in real life.
6. I taught science and math for 6 years in a Christian school after leaving my boring job as an engineer for the federal government. I loved teaching but had to quit after one of those previously mentioned surgeries had a bad side effect - loss of short-term memory.
7. I am taking piano lessons for the first time in my life. I play several woodwind instruments so reading music is not a problem. My problem is getting my left hand and my right hand to do 2 completely different things st the same time.
8. I love to sew and do needlework.
9. My other hobbies are crossword puzzles, reading and doing jigsaw puzzles. I don't like doing laundry. I don't mind cleaning house.
10. I am happiest when I am helping others. I volunteer in the library at my daughter's school, I substitute teach when called upon, I take meals to families in our church who have had a new addition to their family, or who's mom has had surgery and is temporarily incapacitated.
