I'm not sure if I belong to this group at all. I quit smoking December 5th 2014. It has been 591 days.

I quit couple of times before, but I wasn't successful. Last time I started smoking again, it was especially bad. I didn't tell my boyfriend who I live with about it. I was a secret smoker for several months. I felt very bad about myself at the time - I love my boyfriend and was lying to him.

Eventually he discovered me. I decided it was time to quit. First I did some research. Many people were claiming that they've read a book by Allen Carr and it helped them. I didn't really believe that a book can help you, but I read it anyway... Guess what, it helped me. It's quite annoying book, but it does its job well.

I also downloaded an app (Cessation Nation) that counts the time since you quit and also money that you've saved on cigarettes. I actually put away that money and always have a goal that I save it for (usually some electronics :D). I've smoked about a pack a day and I saved more than 1000(1 107.75 U.S. dollars) in one year!

I'm not trying to say that I didn't have difficult periods. I did a mistake and smoked hookah several times - it brought withdrawal pangs back. I also suffer from anxiety and sometimes my foolish brain tells me that I'd feel better after a cigarette. But that happens very rarely.

TLDR: Read book by Allen Carr - Easyway to stop smoking, it might help you.

Good luck with quitting for good this time!
