Hello! I'm new to spark people and new to the forums, so go easy on me, please. :) my name is Angie, I've been taking chantix for 3 weeks (day one of week three today) and I've been smoke free for 4 days now. It doesn't seem like much, I've known plenty of people who have caved and started smoking again after 4 days, but for me this is beyond monumental. I was a heavy smoker, like outside every 30 minutes smoker. smoke three cigarettes on a 25 minute drive smoker. If I was stressed, (I have 3 kids and work full time, I'm stressed a lot) I smoked. Bored, I smoked. You get the idea. It's been EXTREMELY difficult to retrain my brain, it was such an automatic thing to reach for my pack at certain times of the day, or when my kids made me mad..,I think that's been the hardest part so far. The cravings have gotten easier, I went from stewing about cigarettes to just kind of brushing it off..I pop a jolly rancher, drink my water and go about my business. The amount of free time I have that used to be occupied by smoking is nice. It's nice to not have to worry about where I'm going to get $6 tomorrow cus we're broke until payday. It's lovely to take my hair out of it's ponytail at the end of the day and still smell my shampoo, not cigarettes. I could get used to this quitting thing.
