I am 16:8 but looking for the 20:4 soon.

I feel so much better prior to eating, once I eat it lugs me down. LOL I want to nap.

I LOVE THE NOW SUGAR, when I did it before it was difficult, no sugar and eating what I thought was healthy.

This feels so much different and has been really easy.

I started keto to get body weight moving, once I researched all the health benefit..
I AM IN, 100% in

emoticon Cherie, I'm so glad you found us and joined. I love that you want to be active on the team.

I gave up sugar on Oct. 26, 2019, and reversed the dreaded Type 2 diabetics. I just went into the kitchen and put it all in the trash and never bought any more. I also stick to 20 carbs or under. I don't like to cook so I just broil my protein and steam a veggie. I had to stop OMAD so I could get more calories in. It slowed down my metabolism. So I'm doing IF 16/8 now.

So glad you joined us. (((Hugs))) Bobbie

Hi, my name is Cherie, I live in the beautiful green (white at the moment) green mountains of Vermont. Today makes 3 weeks 100% keto diet change.. I have found this switch pretty easy and feels amazing.. I ate pretty clean prior to, but really wanted to eliminate all sugar.

Now of course I am on the search for recipe that work, simple recipe, no, minus net carbs, but recipe that have a reasonable number of carbs per serving.. it is very surprising how many dishes are labeled low carb and the numbers are HIGH, higher then the daily 2o I stay at or lower.

It feels really good to slide into OMAD, My body really likes it. which makes me thinking of stretching it out longer.
My longest fast way back in the day was 14 using the lemonade diet.

In my searching for groups with Low carbs, I found this one and thought how awesome it is to find a group of like minded people!

I look forward to getting to know you all and give and get support on this journey!

Totally cheated and posted same intro on both fasting teams ;) LOL

Welcome, Steph, I'm glad to see that you are taking control of your health by doing the lifestyle of Keto and IF. That is a wise decision.

I got my morning BS readings down in 10 days from the 250/300 range to 100/110 last Oct. 2019. My A1C had been at 8.5 and I brought it down to 5.0 by the time I had blood work done in May 2020.

The only thing I did was cut out All Sugar I had been eating and anything that turned into sugar in my body and started Keto. Like grains (breads) and starches (even sweet potatoes) rice, pasta, etc.
I literally went to my kitchen one day and threw a lot of food out once I made up my mind that I had enough.

It truly is a lifestyle that I will have to live with the rest of my life. Because anytime I try to even eat a couple of crackers with a salad it spikes my BS. I have been off diabetic meds since last May.

My doctor was amazed at my blood work and he told me I had reversed my diabetes and was no longer considered to be a diabetic but I think I still am or it wouldn't spike my BS with just a couple of crackers. I do take a supplement called Berberine Complex from Swanson's. It is said to act like Metformin.

Good luck to you on your journey. I'm here for you. I have learned a lot because I do a lot of research. I didn't learn about IF until Dec. 2019 and it has helped too.

(((Hugs))) Bobbie

Hi, Hazel,

I'm glad to see you here. You are doing IF the right way by building up to longer fasting hours a couple of weeks at a time. That's the way to get your body use to each phase. I learned about IF about a year ago (actually 357 days ago) and that's the way I did it.

How long have you been doing Keto? I started doing Keto again 405 days ago (I have an app. that counts the days). I had tried for a long time to get back into Keto, to no avail, So I called it the day I stopped eating anything with sugar in it or anything that turned into sugar in my body. I was desperate so I had to do something drastic. So, thinking of it in that way has helped me tremendously. I hope Keto is helping you too!

I'm happy to see you here.

Hello, HAZEL2278 here... I have been doing the IF for 14 days and I like it... I am learning as I go and I do appreciate the posts and information I am reading about IF.

I feel well and will start to go to 18/6 in a few days for a day or so at a time and then back to the 16/8...

You are very welcome CAROLFAITHWALKR.

I want you to know that I appreciate you and I did watch the entire Dr. Berg's 15 min video, on the divided plate method. That was so kind of you for sharing it with me. It is another great video of Dr. Bergs and it led me to one that I have been looking for answers on for years. It is called "Hysterectomy and Your Body Shape" I had a hysterectomy when I was 28 and have always thought that was the reason for my slow metabolism and that video answered that question and more.

I am excited about following you on your weight loss journey. I know you are going to succeed. One of the keys I have found with folks that have success is the ones who keep posting and interacting on SP.

Thank you Bobbie, I will check out your links & info. I've been collecting helpful keto memes from facebook, I didn't create any of them myself.

Here is Dr. Berg's 15 min video, re, the divided plate method I mentioned.

If you don't have time to watch the whole 15 mins:
Time marker 6:30 - dropping insulin levels, insulin resistance, disease prevention
Time marker 8:14 - what to eat, how much, and the "divided plate" I referred to
Time marker 12:45 - what not to eat

Hi Carol,

Welcome to the team, Carol. I'm so glad you joined us.

As long as I have been doing Keto and IF, I have never seen a chart like the one you posted below.

I can see where it would be very helpful to you or anyone just learning about Keto. I love it. emoticon

Also, I have never heard the term "of Dr. Berg's plate method of 1/2 veggie, 1/4 protein, 1/4 fat" It is so simple and easy to understand. Thank you for posting them.

I try to find and post a lot of Dr. Berg's videos on different subjects but, I can see I have not seen them all. I don't get on Facebook much so I must be missing a lot of his new information.

You have opened my eyes so, thank you for that. If there is anything I can help you with on your Keto journey, I will do my best to help you.

As far as the sweeteners go I have used xylitol in the past. I now use Pyure Stevia and being a former diabetic it does not raise my blood sugar and it tastes good. My A1C is now 5.0 down from 8.5 from a year ago. If you would like to read about Pyure Stevia, this is the website. pyureorganic.com/products/

I looked at erythritol information on Healthline if you care to read what they have to say.
www.healthline.com/nutrition
/erythrito
l
They also talked about one I had not heard of called Yacon Syrup in Sugar Alcohols: Good or Bad? www.healthline.com/nutrition
/sugar-alc
ohols-good-or-bad

I hope this information is a help to you. Please let me know.

Again welcome to your new team, Keto - Intermittent Fasting & Dr. Berg's Videos.

Hello, I'm Carol, 300+lbs, interested in keto. Posted Dr. Berg's youtube last night on FB, the 15min one on What is Healthy Keto, and I previously watched his 10 min pizza crust one about a month ago. I haven't made any pizza crust, and haven't done keto, but I cut my carbs and want to start keto. I love Dr. Berg's plate method of 1/2 veggie, 1/4 protein, 1/4 fat; makes it so clear and simple.

I am in the new beginning stage of researching autophagy, I understand the concept but want to learn the science, and the articles I read on that really weren't helpful, I think it's because it was so dumbed-down and simplified, so I'm looking for scientific journal articles, I will start with the 2015 Nature one when I have more time.

I don't fast, not into fasting, don't want to learn fasting, but it looks like that's where I'll be heading eventually. For now, excited about Dr. Berg's divided plate method.

I struggle with sweeteners. Prior to keto I went all natural, using organic cane sugar and local honey (the only honey that is NOT sugar syrup from China). But of course, honey & cane sugar aren't options anymore. I use them mainly in tea, I don't drink coffee. And I used fresh fruit, no other sweets or desserts. I don't have any dogs, so I now use xylitol (it's deadly to dogs), and xylitol/stevia blend, and I will pass on anything containing erythritol. Monk fruit & stevia & many other products, aren't; the first ingredient is erythritol. So if anyone has suggestions that don't include erythritol, please let me know. For now I'll use xylitol.

This meme has also helped me alot, as I struggle to start keto.

emoticon I'm so glad to have y'all here and posting. I'm sure y'all know the great benefits of IF and the longer you do it each day the better it is for you. OMAD is the best in my opinion.

But, most of us had to build up to it. I started doing 16 hours of fasting and the 8-hour window of eating, (16/8). Then gradually building to 18/6, 20/4 to 23/1 OMAD.

Just in case some of you don't know here are some of the Benefits of Intermittent Fasting
********************************
* Stimulates brain function
* Boosts metabolism
* Helps prevent cancer
* Promotes weight loss
* Improves heart function
* Boosts the immune system
* Improves cholesterol & blood sugar levels - My A1C dropped from 8.5 to 5.0
* Increases energy, focus, and mental clarity

(((Hugs))) Bobbie

PS. Feel free to add benefits you have noticed.

Hi, I am glad I found this team! I am a big fan of Dr Berg’s videos but mostly his “healthy keto” plan. I’ve done extremely low carb keto in the past and caused a few health concerns, heart palpitations. His plan fits me well. Also that he combines IF. Win/win! My IF is 16:8. Noon-8pm.
It’s a lifestyle plan and no a fad diet! emoticon

Hi Annie,

I'm so glad you are posting in different places on the team. Don't get your feelings if no one else posts here. I don't know it's the time of year or what but no one else is posting anywhere.

I haven't heard of your Dr. Michael Mosley, but I'm glad you found someone who inspired you.

You might like this lady too. I just discovered her recently. She's 50 years old and went from 280 lbs. to 140 lbs. in a little over a year and has a following of a lot of older women (like me) who have lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time too. Have you heard of Eat Like A Bear (ELAB) by Amanda Rose, Ph.D.? She is all about Keto and IF and has lost half her body weight by eating the biggest salads I've ever seen. I'll put a link so you can see what you think. She has many videos so I'll try to pick the one you might be interested in lessening too.

Thanks NVRGIVINGUP, I've heard about bulletproof coffee but never looked into how it was made. I will try it. But, don't you put some stevia or some kind of sweetner in it?

When I said what I eat, that was for the whole day. I do have a mug of Turmeric Tea every morning and coffee (with heavy cream and stevia) with my meal and water the rest of the day.

I used to have what looked like a 'hard beer belly' until I started Keto 194 days ago and the Intermittent Fasting 145 days ago. Now my belly is flat and soft. I fast between 18 to 24 hours a day so I literally eat one meal a day. So I'm really doing OMAD (one meal a day).

Congratulation NVRGIVINGUP on 2 Years of doing Keto! emoticon Keep up the good lifestyle!

My basic first meal of the day is a bulletproof coffee with collagen, ghee or grass-fed butter, coconut oil and a 1T Heavy whipping cream. However if I do eat food it is generally the same as you’re with a cup of coffee (no smoothie).

Hi Annie, you joined for the same reason I started this team. I have been off sugar, bread, potatoes, pasta, and anything that turns to sugar in a person's body for over 170 days now and my blood sugar is in normal range now. It dropped drastically in the first 10 days. So you can do this too.

Dr. Berg is inspiring to me and I have learned so much from him as thousands of other people have. Only I have to go over and over thing to remember them so that's another reason I started this team so I would have a place to save his videos.

WELCOME Annie,

Good morning team,
I am Annie and I am from North Carolina. I joined the team to help me get refocused on the Keto lifestyle and hopefully get my blood sugars back down to normal again. I've been doing Keto since May 2019. I initially lost 30 pounds in about 6 weeks. In recent weeks with the pandemic, working remotely and being less active the scale and my blood sugars have started to creep back up. I have a number of health problems (won't go into all the details), other than Type II diabetes, which are complications of being diabetic and years of poor eating habits. I am happily married, I have 6 adult children and 4 grandchildren,

Hello team. My name is Kathleen and I am new here.
I have been following strict Keto WOE for two years. I have been wanting a way to make it healthier by adding more veggies but I couldn't figure out how to do that without overdoing my daily carbs. I now have the answer. I watched all the Dr. Berg's videos and I agree with his ideas. I am going to follow this Healthier Keto plan and see if I start feeling better.

Hi, Bobbi and team! I'm 67 and weigh 225. At 5'9" that gives me a 38" waist and a BMI of about 33. Given that my muscle mass is only 40 lbs, there's waaaaay too much fat! While unsightly and inconvenient to haul up stairs, it's unhealthy in many ways. It drives up blood pressure, damaging the heart. The fat itself drives inflammation, which corrodes the body. At my age, we want less corrosion.

I'm a pretty happy guy. Married for 38 years. Army brat. Moved around a lot. My Dad was the "First Captain of Cadets" at West Point, Class of '52. I have a picture of him handing a gift to President Truman, inviting him to speak to the cadets. My 5th great grandfather was Davey Crockett, who most of you know died defending the Alamo in 1836. He was also a congressman prior to that. I have 3 brothers, no sisters. No children. 1 dressage horse my wife rides daily.

I'm a big golfer and love college football. I read a lot and am working on a Doctorate Degreee in business.

Still, I am humbled by difficulties in losing weight. Have lost 30 lbs a couple of times and gained almost all of it back. I've spend hours learning from Dr. Berg and Dr. Roz about ketogenic diet. I've had some success, but fall off the wagon. I think I need to think of myself as addicted to carbs and allergic to them. When I eat them it leads to eating them, and when I eat them it leads to bad things for my body.

It's easy for me to say, "let's do it!" I have a harder time staying with it and finishing the task because... I cheat and then can't get back on the wagon.

I am responsible for this. I own my choices. I know what the consequences will be. I know why I should be really committed to not cheating! The AA approach to addiction, sponsors, and "one day at a time" may be what I need.

Best Regards to all of you.

Hi, I'm Bobbie.

I started this team because I was inspired to through away any and all SUGAR items in my house on Sat. Oct.26,2019 and start the Keto Lifestyle. As a result, my morning readings of Blood Sugar have dropped from 250 down to 108 as of today 11/5/19, that's only 10 days. Also, I have lost a few pounds without trying. That all just happened because I STOPPED EATING SUGAR!!! And I wanted a place to post and share Dr. Bergs's videos, so we can learn and keep track of how we are doing.

(((Hugs))) Bobbie
P.S.
Hello again, y'all I'm Bobbie from N. Texas about 10 miles south of the Big Red (we call it) it's the Red River that flows between OK and TX. I'm fifth-generation Texan on my maternal side as far as I could find out. I love doing genealogy.

I have a blended family of 8 grown-ups, 15 grands, and 22 great-grands. Only one of our kids lives in the same town as us (and she is our only adopted one), all the others live hours away, some in other states. My DH and I have been happily married for 39 years. We have both traveled together and separately. My dad worked in the oil fields so, as a kid, we traveled a lot. I can remember living in Wyoming and the show being taller than me. My DH was a military brat. His dad was a 30-year man in the Air Force. Togeather we have traveled with an oil field company from West Virginia to California and back to Texas. DH was born in Tennessee.

We have lived and worked in a lot of states but we have lived the longest here in north Texas for about 25 years.

Well, I guess that's enough introduction for now. We'll get to know each other better as we go along.

Happy trails y'all, Bobbie

There is NO Finish Line in NO MORE SUGAR and a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE. “Keep your waist to less than half your height.”
".. Every pound of weight loss results in Five pounds of stress taken off your knees, Seven pounds off your ankles, and a whopping Ten pounds off your spinal discs!"
Check out Dr. Sten Ekberg video on YouTube called:
Is Intermittent Fasting Safe? THIS Will Surprise You.
When I paste the YouTube Link here it DOES NOT Work in this Ticker.
