Thank you Patricia and Calista for your warm welcome.
I'm just avoiding starchy carbs for now until I get the book.
Well done Calista for staying away from the junk. Keeping to plan when travelling is always difficult for me too.
Wishing you all a great week.

Good for you, Calista! That can be the most challenging part of traveling. I try to pack a small cooler so I have some good options, but when you're on the road for weeks.... well, enough said that if you stayed away from the worst of the worst, then that's a victory!

Hi Folks!

Welcome new members Patricia & Sunny!

I am just back from a 3 week road trip in which I just targeted moderation and no junk foods. Gas marts are filled with chips & candies and I did manage to stay away from the worst of the worst. So I am ready to get started again on a more focused approach!

Welcome, Sunny. I look forward to getting to know you and sharing on this eating plan when you get your book. I've been on it for a little over a week and feel good and am seeing results that feel good and not faddish.

I've also listened to a couple of podcasts featuring Dr. Ludwig and have found these helpful as well.

Hi I've just ordered the book so I haven't started the diet yet. I know low-carb works for me but I am getting tired of Dukan and Atkins so I want to try a new approach. Also, I hope on this version of low-carb I'll have fewer issues with constipation.
Good luck to everyone here

Thank you both for the nice welcome to the team! I'll find the normal "chat" thread and check in there now and then. I look forward to sharing information about this eating plan and what we're learning along the way!

Hi Pat, and welcome!

I admit I am struggling but it's probably mainly my own fault. I'm in grad school, and life has turned stressful. Staying off the deadly whites, yes. I drink the water and what I eat is the right stuff (a recent visit to my folks notwithstanding); I've just got to get my portions back in line.

Welcome to the team, Pat. My wife and I are in our 5th week on the plan. We both lost 8 pounds at the end of 4 week. We are mostly off of prepared foods. Off of the deadly "whites", white rice, white potatoes, sugar, and white flour. Wife has been having hip pain, and the pain went away. Also, not hungry. Wife went shopping yesterday and came home with dry garbanzos, lentils, and pinto beans. Garbanzos went into the pot with slivered almonds, plus a bunch of spices, and a jalapeņo. Tasty and good for you. We plan to stay on this plan for some time.

Hi -
Just joined this team after starting the AH Solution last week. It's going well so far and I'm trying to plan ahead. I love the recipes in the book; the sauces are fabulous, but then I've always loved things like Thai Peanut Sauce and Lemon Tahini Sauce. Yummy.

I was doing a ketogenic diet for quite a while, and have been increasing good fats in my diet over the past year, but I couldn't sustain the effort of such a low-carb approach. I know that I have a close-to-addiction problem with processed grains and always feels lots better when I'm off them. Dr. Ludwig's approach feels healthier with carbs from beans and whole, non-tropical fruits, etc., so I feel like this will be much more do-able.

I'm surprised that this seems to be the only team that has to do with the Dr. Ludwig book, though. Glad to have found you!

Thanks for the welcome to the team. We are doing phase 1, except I do have a piece of sprouted grain bread toast for breakfast most days. The bread has no sugar in it. I am 73 and my wife is 65, and we have some aches and pains. The aches and pains are going down. Do like that the plan seems to have a science base. As an old engineer, do like science. We haven't tried any recipes yet. Yesterday, made a pot of cauliflower, chicken breast, garbanzo beans, and spices. Like dishes that can get several meals out off. Tomorrow we are going to a music festival "Wintergrass" up in Washington. We will take plan food with us. Our room has a fridge and microwave. So, we pretty much aren't buying processed foods. So much hidden sugar in them.

Hi Calista!

I get - Girardelli makes it - they have really dark chocolate and it's individually wrapped. You leave it in the freezer and just take one square/day. Kinda pricey, which also keeps me from going nuts (heh, pun) with it. My folks sent us Valentine's chocolate but it was fortunately a small box. I did the same - stuck it in the freezer and just had one piece/day. My husband also dipped into those and so they were gone in less than a week.

I'm trying to stay away from too much processed stuff but did get black bean/quinoa pasta from the grocery. It's pretty good - add to organic chicken stock, chicken, carrots, onions, and peas, and nuke it for about 6 minutes, take out (usually I nuke tea during this time), stir, nuke another 4 minutes or so and you've got an individual homemade chicken soup. Salad with vinaigrette and crumbled Gorgonzola cheese, bowl of fruit, square of chocolate and that's dinner for me most nights. I imagine I'll do something different when the weather turns warmer but it's easy and filling on cold New England nights.

Oatmeal this morning - I get organic fast steel-cut but I realize I'm in a big city and my available foods are perhaps different from your own.

Hi and welcome to the team!

I am in my second week on the plan. I must admit that I am pretty much following his Phase 1 guidelines as closely as possible, but not really following his menu. I just don't have the motivation to cook as much as he suggests, and especially if it is foods that I don't enjoy.

I made the garbanzo flour pancakes and those were great. Reminded me of food I used to eat!

The protein shake (his recipe) was good, except that I don't really like peanut butter mixed in with fruit.

I tried the dark chocolate, and I loved it way too much. Until / unless I can get a better handle on portion control I will need to leave that at the grocery store.

I do like it that I feel full and satisfied and that generally I do not have a problem with cravings. I wish aches and pains would go away but they do feel marginally better.

Clothes and the scale are still about the same. Hopefully I will get some in this area, even if it is slow.

I understand about the challenges of eating away from home. It is hard enough when we have all the acceptable foods and prep tools, but restaurant eating seems to be a whole new level!

My plan is to move on to Phase 2 next Monday again using his menus as inspiration and modifying using his guidelines.

Would like to hear how you are working the program and the results that you are getting!

I have trigger finger in both hands and that is definitely better.

Weight loss is slower but I also need to stop eating out once/week - I'm having issues with that so I'll pull back and do something different.

Meals are easier to take than with the Fast Metabolism Diet. I can't tell you how thrilled I am to have dairy again.

Hi - just joined the team. Interested in other peoples experiences with "Always Hungry" plan. My wife and I have been eating the plan way for a couple of weeks. Good early result is that we are sleeping much better. We have been staying away for the "Whites". No white flour, white rice, sugar, and white potatoes. Supposed to reduce inflammations. Not all the aches and pains, so not taking meds. Wife has lost some weight as clothes are getting looser. I haven't weighed yet.
