So the Halloween candy in my house got louder calling my name and two nights in a row I've eaten way too much of it, and I've not journaled about my sugar addiction in a few days. Do Over! I can whoop this.

Thanks for the support!

Yesterday I gave in, :( but just had one peanut butter kiss (classic Halloween candy that takes me back to the good ol' days. lol) but yep, just one, and I don't feel too bad about that, however I really do need to eliminate the sugar as much as possible for so many reasons.

Today I was tempted by the fun size candy bars again, but so far I've been able to just say no based on how crappy I felt after eating them last week.

Yes, Halloween (through Christmas) is such a hard time to avoid sugar, but we can do it. I just have to be hard-headed about what I want and what will take me steps forward to that, and not backwards.

wow, I am really inspired by your commitment! I love candy too so I can appreciate any length of time giving it up and can unfortunately relate to when the temptation becomes too much. Halloween really tests us, doesn't it? I think you already know what to do though. Start over. Get back on track.
Maybe this time of year requires a smaller goal. Can you try to make it through the day without candy or sugar? Turn that into a streak of 3 days in a row? Then a week? Make it to Halloween, which is only 2.5 weeks away! That would be a milestone for me requiring a major incentive! Now the wheels are turning and I'm thinking of how I can do the same thing and how i will reward myself! Can we do this together? emoticon

Greetings!

I'm Renee, wife, mother of 4 grown kids, no grandkids yet. I have been on a low carb plan all year and have lost 60 lbs since July of last year (but then gained 3.5 lbs recently... bummer) and now I'm ready to get back on track before it gets worse.

I love candy, but ate too much of it too often so I had to give it up (forgive me, Leslie Knope!)

I have been pretty much sugar free all year. Started 1/1/17 on my low carb plan and have felt great, including greatly improving a lot of my blood work numbers!! (yay!!) but, now that there has been a candy dish full of caramels, tootsie rolls and salt water taffy at my house I have found it hard to stay out of it. Why now? I have avoided candy all year, no problem. But I gave in to a few caramels last week, then... I've escalated to full on overeating of fun size candy bars at work (co-worker keeps them on her desk which I normally have no problem with.) I don't drink sodas (diet or otherwise) but I even found myself having one recently. It was yuck. I'm ready to get myself back in control of my sweet-tooth because yesterday was my biggest binge of the year and it left me feeling physically awful. My self-talk (I don't want that candy, remember how it makes me feel.) and new determination have me not even being tempted today. Which is great!
