Thank you for sharing your story with us, Whitney. I'm sorry for your loss, as well as yours, Audrey. It's never easy. I had a miscarriage early in pregnancy in 2011 and it crushed me entirely. It took quite a long time for me to not blame myself or my own body for it. It was very difficult to come to terms with the fact that something so tragic had happened at all, let alone in my own body. My husband was a huge help, always giving me a shoulder whenever I needed one. A year later, though, we were blessed with another pregnancy. In fact, I found out I was pregnant right about the same time I'd found out the first time. Now I have a beautiful, healthy, mostly happy 2-year-old daughter. Sometimes, I still find myself wondering what if with the first pregnancy, but I cannot begin to imagine my life without my daughter, else my heart aches.

Thank you for joining us, Whitney. I hope you find us to be friends and resources in your journey to achieving your goals!

Thank you! It is heartbreaking. I'm sorry for your loss as well. I'm very thankful for my daughter even when she's throwing those 2 year old temper tantrums. Haha. I would love to have another child but that is not possible for me (other than adoption).

I'm sorry for your losses, Whitney. A parent should never have to experience to lose a child. It's heartbreaking. emoticon I had an ectopic pregnancy when I was 21 and it kills me and my husband to think that we'd now have an 8 year old. Very thankful to have the 2 that we do have... even when they are being devilish little things.

I need to start batch cooking. I know this might sound silly, but I always feel like I don't have enough time to. Or maybe it's just a lack of patience. Either way, I know I need major help from the hubby to manage to accomplish it.

Hi everyone!

I'm Whitney. I'm 24 years old, married, mother to a very vibrant, beautiful two year old little princess, and a full time college student majoring in Office Administration. While I only have one living child, I have two angel babies. One from miscarriage and a little boy who passed at two days old in 2011. I believe my most recent weight gain (I gained about 30 after losing my son) came from losing two children. How does anyone cope with something so tragic, especially in your early 20's? I owe it to my faith, family, and husband for getting me through the toughest parts (1st birthday,1st Christmas, etc). Of course I miss him everyday but I have great comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering from anything of this world.

My daughter, Emilee, helps me as well. And it warms my heart when she looks at his pictures and says "Bubby!" She knows he's her brother. :) One day she will have questions about what happened to him and her other brother or sister that I miscarried. It'll be tough but she will know about them and know that they are a part of her.

Anyways, I hope I didn't dampen the mood. Please forgive me if I did.

I am happy to be here and hope that everyone has great success in reaching your goals. I look forward to everyone's posts!

Have a happy and blessed day!

Grebjack, you don't have to worry about talking about more than just introductions on this thread. Just consider it another chat thread :D

@LadyGrimm, thanks. I have essentially finished (already successfully defended my thesis, so I'm just doing revisions and a few courses) which is amazing. Now that my thesis is defended I feel much less stressed and am hoping to really focus on myself.

@grebjack, I need to get back into batch cooking and freezing meals! This weekend I made two batches of homemade flatbread for snacks or sandwiches throughout the week using a SP recipe. Hopefully I can do more of that.

At risk of exchanging ideas on what's supposed to be the introductions thread...

My saving grace for cooking when there just isn't enough time is batch cooking on the weekends. I almost never cook on weeknights except for crock pot meals and feeding my lunch bunch once a week. But my Sundays are church, ice skating, and then kitchen time and if all goes well, I have things to eat until the next weekend. One of the first good ideas I gleaned from SparkPeople back in 2008!

Welcome, Samantha, glad to have you with us! That sounds like a crazy schedule. I can understand why it got hard to keep up with the fitness and food. But you did it once, you can definitely do it again! I hope we can provide you with the support you need to help you succeed in what you're setting out to do!

Also, a pre-congratulations on your MA! I'm currently working on my Bachelor's for Communication; I'm debating getting a degree in English at some point as well.

My name is Samantha. I joined SP the first time around in 2008 when I graduated high school at almost 300 pounds. I lost over 100 pounds and kept that weight off until I got gall bladder disease and then started a full time job, part time teaching job, and graduate school all at the same time leaving little time for fitness and cooking.

I rejoined to try to lose the weight I've gained back and then some. I joined this particular teem because LadyGrimm extended the invite in another team I was in and I am always looking for new ideas to make my life healthier.

I will get my MA in English in May. I 24 years old and married with a dog and no kids. I knit, and read and write a lot.

Welcome, Rebecca! Glad you could join us! Sounds like you're always doing something fun! I always wanted to do ballroom dancing, but I'm a clutz and it's not something hubby's into, lol. I love going to hockey games, I always have a good time.

I hope we can help you meet your goals!

Greetings! I'm Rebecca and I'm here 'cause Lady Grimm invited me through another team. I joined SparkPeople back in 2008, made some permanent lifestyle changes, and have been at my goal weight since 2010. I'm not at my goal fitness though. I'm 45 and my mom has osteopenia so I'm doing my best to lay down as much bone mass as possible while I still can. And I thrive on novelty, so I'm always finding new activities to learn (and suck at - as soon as I get competent it's time to move to something else!). Big goals for this year are two half marathons and an open water swim; a totally vain goal to strengthen (and thus shape) my glutes; ice hockey and ballroom dancing classes; and household repairs in preparation for putting my house on the market and finalizing my divorce.

I look forward to sharing ideas with you all. Thanks for starting the team, Lady G.

Well said on the description of a stay at home mom.

That sounds like a tough crowd to please when it comes to food, quite a challenge. And I know what you mean about the anti-depressants. I'm off my anti-depressants right now, but when I was taking them, trying to lose weight was just simply impossible. It's still pretty hard; some of the meds I take make it a challenge, or so I'm told. But the last few months, I'd lost 8 pounds without even trying.

That's when you have to hold on to even the smallest of achievements.

I hope we can help you meet your goals!

Hello. I'm Audrey, 30, married, mother of 2. I've been sparking this time around since 2010. While I have lost weight, I'm still nowhere near my goals and have had a recent resurgence of about 10 pounds which I'm blaming on anti-depressants more so than the holidays... I think they just coincided a little too much making things more difficult. My hubby is pretty easy going when I make healthier changes in our diets, an my youngest eats just about everything, but my 4 year old is extremely picky... which I'm going to blame on other family members (my grandfather who seems disgusted by the healthier options I bring in the house, my aunt who does the same, her boyfriend who is pickier than my kids and won't eat anything containing onions or vegetables other than peas, my mom who won't eat cheese and scoffs at the healthier choices, and my brothers who survive of chicken nuggets, pepperoni, french fries, and bacon). I try to sneak in the healthy fixes when and where I can. I'm a stay at home mom, meaning I have both all the time, and none of the time in the world

Welcome, Tonka! Thanks for joining!

I don't work a desk job myself, but I spend a lot of time at one, due to being an online student. I like cooking when it's not a chore, lol. I'm a novice knitter myself. Very novice. I have a friend or two who help me learn what to do. Other than that, I rely on Youtube, lol.

My name is Tonka. I've been on SparkPeople on and off since June 2009, most recently on since Mid-2013. My fiance and I took up running in August of 2013 and it has made a huge difference for us. We love making swaps in our recipes and are always looking for good ideas for meals/snacks that will power our runs, but not over do it.

I work a desk job at my Alma Mater, UMass Amherst and try to go for walks during my lunch breaks (exceptions being hurricanes and blizzards - I learned those lessons the hard way). In my spare time, I like to knit, cook, go for runs and walks, watch TV, and play board games.

Welcome to Idea Exchange! The goal for this SparkTeam is to provide a place where people can come make & get suggestions to & from others reaching for similar goals; being healthy! Yea, we can all go to different websites, blogs, and so on to find nifty little recipes, but sometimes, some of the greatest ideas aren't things you will find published on recipe sites or blogs! Talking with your support team can give you some great ideas for snacks, meals, and recipes that will help you reach your daily nutritional goals!

So, again, welcome! Please, take a minute to introduce yourself to the team! Tell us a little about yourself! Let us know what brought you to SparkPeople and what brought you to the Idea Exchange. What are your goals and how can we help you reach them?
--------------------------

My name's Leanna, but I'm quite comfortable just going by my online handle, or variations (Lady, Grrimm... some call me Lady G, too) of it. I'm 23, a wife, a mom, and a college student. My day is always unexpectedly busy and so, I rarely eat right and, even more so, I rarely exercise. I joined SparkPeople to help get the tools and support I need to make a lot of life changes so that I can be happy with who I am, inside & out.

I created Idea Exchange because I love having opportunities to discuss different ideas for food of all kinds. I don't mind searching websites for some snack ideas, but I more often prefer to just get in touch with some friends and see what they do. I highly doubt I'm the only person who feels this way, so I thought networking with others will help build a strong support team, full of members that are all about sharing the little food treasures they've found throughout their experiences.

If you have any questions or comments, please, feel free to message me! I'll do all I can to help you out! I look forward to getting to know all those who join the team & hope I can help provide you with the tools YOU need to succeed!
