Sure, Laura!!! ok..i eat cheddar, my local groceries american, which the ingredients are cream and salt...not velveeta thats umm...NO GOOD..lol.
i raised goats..sold goat cheese, cant stand it. it smells like goat to me...not my favorite smell to eat. no worries...check the labels..look for cheese under 1 gram carb per ounce. i do muenster, swiss, cheddar, american, cojack, etc.
ok on the nutrition. i find my fitness pal easier, but spark will do it too. I have my macros set at 5% carbs, 20% protein, and 75% fat. most days i'm 5-15-80 though. just me...
on spark go to your nutrition under the "my trackers" tab..then go to the bottom of the page if i remember its set nutrients or change nutrients, and it put in your macro numbers..then every day it will tell you at the bottom of the page how you are doing.
Hope this helps!!

Hi Holly, thank you for your post. Some cheeses seem unnatural, so are there certain kinds to avoid? I'm not keen on goat cheese yet.

Also, how do I set up my nutrition to factor in a keto lifestyle? I'd like to see the "pie" show my macro breakdown. It's been a long time since I first used SP, so I consider myself new here.

Thank You!

:)laura

Hi! and welcome...what can we help you with? I eat cheese freely. At first i was horrified...all the fat and stuff the medical community tells you not to eat and its on here...i gave it 2 weeks..and did so well i just kept going! Dont be afraid of healthy fats from fatty meats, chicken skin, pork rinds, BACON, butter, coconut oil, cheese, olives and olive oil. Nuts are in very strict moderation..they are pretty high in carbs.
Read EVERY label...some cheeses have higher carb counts then others. keep it under 20 grams of carb a day, eliminate fruit, many veggies (leafy green veg, broccoli, cauliflower, rhubarb are all fine in moderation..for instance, i have a big spinach and cheese salad with oil and vinegar every night.
You can do this!!!

Hi, I am new to the ketogenic lifestyle - I am not sure it is for me though since I struggle with the high fat and healthy fat choices. Cheese is especially quite confusing. I look forward to support and great recipe ideas.
