"Mom", do not despair. My youngest of my three "cuties" is now 28. Of the three one does have my sleep habits, but if you don't know already, and if it is hereditary, you can rest easy. My son slept poorly from the beginning, for whatever reason. I only asked the question because I'd love to stop being blamed for my problem. In an effort to be helpful, my husband (who can sleep anytime, anywhere) looks at me in bewilderment, and tells me to just go to bed earlier.

God I hope it's not hereditary, i would HATE for my three kids to feel like I do every day. Just thinking about it makes me sad.

The three very best things I've ever done in my life are Ty William, Bryce Julius, and Preston Scott.

O: Overcome Obstacles
A: Account for my Actions
R: Reach all my Goals

Thanks, Mexgal. I've been tempted to try pills on occasion but haven't. Ads make them sound so innocent. I know positive thinking can influence much of our health.... but sleep? My best strategy for sleeplessness so far has been to quit my job so i have less stress and don't have to get up at 6am, and just not fight insomnia at night. Sleep when it will come. Stay awake until i'm tired. Stay asleep as long as i am able, and pay less attention to the clock. A very unsatisfactory solution.

Gosh, you hate to think that way. I know that I constantly tell myself that I had two parents. My father could sleep very easily and for long periods of time whereas my Mother has always had sleeping problems. I keep telling myself that "I can" be like my father. I think so much starts in your mind. so continue to work on you thoughts and try and be positive. And what ever you do, do not get into sleeping pills! I am towards the end of my tapering off of a heavy sleeping pill and it has been a struggle to get off it. Your brain waves get all whacked out.
Best of everything to you.

Mom always told me i slept poorly as an infant, and i remember having to make up silly games (like, "I'm Sleeping Beauty Waiting for my Prince") to trick myself into sleep as a young child. What if i can't be any different? Judy
