Hello everyone, i'm not new but i am, i joined back in august to loose 20 pounds, unforchenly 2 weeks after i started,i found out i was pregnant so i stopped, since then i've bin down because i am at a weight i don't want to be at and still have 7 more weeks to go,plus however long i tend to breast feed for.

for years i've had issues with sleeping, when i say i'm gonna go to bed i don't, when i do go to bed i end up watching tv for an hour just to relax myself enough to fall asleep, i get brain races sometimes and it causes me to not want to sleep, i use to be a morning person and 1 day it just changed, and hasn't changed back, i currently go to bed between 12-2am, when i do go to sleep i get night mares not every night but most nights.

i want to change, i want to spend the next 7 weeeks eating properly, and making sure that when my son does come i can be up, and i can be alert, and that i can get decent sleep.

Another long night. I remember trying to go to sleep about 10:30 ,back up at midnight. Took some Tylenol to help with hip pain and maybe asleep by 2 and then up at 5 again. Now I am up for the day. I get so tired and angry at not being bale to sleep. It didn't help we had storms and tornado warnings most of the night. My daughter didn't sleep much either. She has never learnt to sleep threw thunder and lightening. Her being MR there is now way to reason with her. Just canceled her bus to a center, she is way to grumpy to go. I don't blame her. We will enjoy our herbal tea this morning and get around at a much slower rate.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day

(This was supposed to be in reply to purplekitkat's post at the bottom of the page. Don't know why it is up here.) I don't know if anyone else told you about this, but Walmart sells a cd called Sleep that is faint soft music and a babbling brook. At first it made me get up and pee all night, till I got used to it. I play it on repeat all for the entire night, very softly or it keeps me awake. It really helps relax me and gives my mind something to do besides talk to me till dawn. Another thing I have done is get the very soft, short earplugs to stop the loud noises (including my own snoring!) that wakes me up just as I'm falling asleep. I don't need them now, as I've gotten used to the noises I guess. Unless of course someone is having a party or my roommate is yelling into her computer talking to her parents in China. I've never had a day job other than being a student. I worked graves for 6 years and thought I loved it, but have been working swing shift for the last 12 years, and find it perfect for my lifestyle. Trouble is, I get on this blankety blank computer and the next thing I know it's 5 am! So I've promised myself to go to bed at 3, no matter what. And it's nearly that, so I hope to talk to you again soon. Good night, and good dreams. ;-}

I used to take 4 hr sleeping pills and go right to sleep, sleep 9 hrs and wake feeling wonderful! Then one day for no reason they quit working. Totally! My Dr has been experimenting with all kinds of sleep aids, including currently taking narcotics for pain and muscles relaxers for jerking spasms that would wake me up in the night. I don't want to end up like Marilyn Monroe. I'm groggy when I wake up, and don't want to get up. All sleeping pills don't work now. I have ADHD, which makes me hyper in the middle of the night if I stay up too long. I take speed for that in the morning which calms me down and allows me to concentrate without running in circles all day. I never knew I was hyper active till they put me on that speed. I was happy with 4 hrs sleep, worked 2 and 3 jobs all the time, and read 2 to 3 books at a time. I miss that energy. But I'm much better now at my job and my ability to learn. Thing is, I want to get off the night time drugs and just sleep normally. I am truly hopeful that all the new exercise I am doing will help me do that. I've not done aerobics for 23 years, and I delighted myself the other day to be able to RUN across the parking lot at the hospital. It felt so good! Sorry if I blabbed too long, just wanted to let ya all know what I need help and encouragement with because sometimes my feet hurt a lot and I don't want to move at all!

I have the same problem! I actually take benedryl just so I can fall asleep at night. If I don't take it I will lay there for hours. Even when I do take it though, I wake up a lot all night long. Sometimes I can fall back to sleep right away, but often times, I cannot. I have had to up the amount of benedryl I take nightly and sometimes I even take another one in the middle of the night. That can't be healthy, but I know no other way to deal with it.
I am curious, when you find yourself awake in the middle of the night, is your mind working and working, or is that not a problem for you?

Hello all! I am new to SparkPeople. I am finding it great so far.

I joined this group because I have trouble sleeping the whole way through the night. I don't remember the last time I slept an entire night. I consistently wake up in the middle of the night, and several times afterwards.

I am thinking it could be stress. But it happens even when I am not overly stressed.

Does anyone experience similar things? I know it isn't complete insomnia but it's more like a sleep disruption that prevents me from getting a full night's sleep.

HI everyone. I worked nights for over 20 yrs as a nurse so we had no need for a sitter. But at least I could sleepp. Now I don't work and I average about 3 hours of sleep a night.I HATE it. I can't even nap during the day or I won't sleep at night. I have Fibro and that may part of the cause. Like most of you I need to loose weight . I have alot going on in my life right now with high stress levels which don't help either. Will be glad to hear what everyone does to get to sleep and stay alseep

Hi my name is Amanda and I have been struggling with my energy level since last summer. I got very sick and was hospitalized, and since then I have felt exhausted. They never figured out what was wrong with me - all my tests came back normal.

I don't have insomnia - I fall asleep just fine - and I typically get 7-8 hours a night, but I am tired all the time. I have even started falling asleep at work. I am overweight and don't exercise as often as I should, but I'm just so tired all the time. Sometimes I'm too tired to eat or even get up and get a glass of water.
When I do sleep, I often wake up gasping like I can't breathe or shouting. I'm pretty much driving my boyfriend insane (he can get 4 hours and have tons of energy!).

I'm hoping that by changing some things about my lifestyle (which is already pretty healthy) I will be able to get some energy back!

hello my name is Beth and I am 28 years old single mom of two wonderful boys. I suffer from insomia which is horrible because it makes my fuse short lol. My exhusband has my boys everyother week and I would think I could sleep then but my mind goes crazy. And my mind goes a different kind of crazy when i do have the boys.

Hi everyone!! My name is Celia Keehn. I am a fairly light sleeper as it is, but I tend to wake up throughout the night for, most of the time, apparently no reason. However, I am starting to think that it might be because of a gluten intolerance/Celiac Disease. I have gone a work week gluten free and it seems to be helping, but it is hard to tell because I haven't had a normal night in 3 weeks. I was staying at my grandparent's house, which put me in a sleeping location that is abnormal to me and then last night was our first night with a new dog in the bed who still needs to get used to our routine and sleeping habits. So, once everything settles down a little, I might be able to find out for sure, but I do seem to feel better even when I don't sleep for a full 8 hours. I too get very irritable with other people around me when I don't sleep well and I am tired of feeling tired ALL DAY LONG...... It's very tiring both physically and emotionally. Good luck to everyone!!! It's nice to be part of a group who has the same type of issues that I have and have the support I need!!

Hi and welcome to all!!!! Its horrible when I can't get a decent nights sleep, seems like everyone around me pays. I get so irritable w/ my Husband, daughter, any one who comes near me! I can't take a nap during the day for fear of not only not sleeping at night, but if I sleep during light hours I always have such weird dreams, really weird!

Any how welcome all, and if you need anything just ask! someone is always just a click away!!!

Welcome Kevin, and good luck. I have actually found since I started really watching my diet and eating a good breakfast every day and getting more balanced nutrition I am actually sleeping better, even though my weight loss in the first three weeks here has been minimal my blood sugars have gotten much better and I am sleeping better. Hopefully you will have luck too.

When things were not going the way I wanted them to, my Mother used to always say "this too will pass" and she was always right. These excess pounds will pass too if we believe.

Hi guys, my name is Kevin. I am a (soon to be) 38 year old project management professional, and unfortunately, I am overweight. My sleeping habits are horrible and stem from my days on a submarine in the Navy. Some times going entire days without sleep. Used to do it well when I was a young man, but now it catches up with me. I am usually in bed around 11 or 12 and get up at 4:30 in the morning to get ready for my 10-12 hour work day.

To compound it all, I was diagnosed about 5 years ago with sleep apnea, and was supposed to be getting a CPAP machine, but decided against it. After my last huge weight gain, my apnea got horrifically worse. My snoring keeps my wife up who fears that I might not start breathing again. So yeah, being here helps, and I am going to the doctor next week to see if I can still get that CPAP machine. Plus, losing weight eventually will help a great deal as well.

Hi everyone, I'm Caroline (or Cari for short). I've got this nasty habit of staying awake until 4am in the morning and then sleeping till late afternoon. Talk about wasting your day! It's not like I don't get to bed early (is 11pm early?) but my mind just won't shut down and I end up getting up and doing something.

So hopefully this group will help, plus I'm hoping to meet some amazing people who have the same problem. :D

Hiya
I'm Shannah. I'm a first year student in university in the science program. And I'm a night owl. Currently, it is almost 5 in the morning and I need to be up at 9 so that I can do some chemistry. Ugh. I'm one of those people who try to sleep, but who's mind keeps wandering. Today my mind wandered to my weight and my plans to do something about it. I figured that this website would be a good way to keep me on track, and I'm hoping you guys can help. Who knows? Maybe by the end of this semester, I'll not only lose my lovely freshman 15, but also learn how to sleep properly...although I doubt I'll ever be an early riser!

Hi. I'm Megan. I'm 24 and have had trouble sleeping since 2004. I have been waking up in the middle of the night hungry. I shouldn't really be hungry, I think its more because of stress and emotional issues. I really would like to break this and sleep a full eight hours.

Hey ya'll, I'm Teri. I am 24 and active duty Air Force.
I seem to get plenty of sleep since I go to bed around 9 or 10 and get up at 545. I randomly wake up throughout the night because of the pain I have with Costochondritis. From the outside looking in you would think I should be plenty rested but I'm not.
I am constantly tired. I come home and working out is NOT what I want to do. I would much rather go straight to bed. I don't know what my problem is but it sucks, so here I am in the I Need Sleep team.

Hello everyone, I am new to the group sort of, I've been on spark since Jan 2010 but I haven't gotten use to everything. I am really in need of sleep, I have fibromyalgia and the pain keeps me from sleeping, strange because I feel wiped out 99.9% of the time. My energy sucks and I am always exhausted. I have been on several medications it seems as though the work for a moment and then they quit, both OTC and perscription. Looking forward to seeing what the group has to offer me. Thanks for having me.

I'm Sherry and all my sleep problems stem from the fact that I am bipolar. I can't sleep when manic and have just as hard a time sleeping when depressed. Been told I am an insomniac and have a hard time falling asleep and when I finally get to sleep I don't end up staying there too long end up waking up and not being able to get back there. Anyhow I could use tons of sleepy tips when manic or otherwise. I didn't try sleeping pills yet. Tried trazadone and that didn't even make me fall asleep. Did absolutely nothing except give me a headache. Tried relaxation music that just doesn't work. I don't even get relaxed my mind just keeps racing. I tried many different types of relaxation music. I have 11 cds of relaxation music and accomplished nothing except wasting money. Anyhow like I said I could use all the tips I can get.

If you did not give me the strength, I would still be too shy to stand.

My daily strength motto I created myself.

Hi everyone....I am new to SparkPeople and like some others have said, didn't realize that I would be able to find help for other problems than weight loss. I go to bed dog tired but can't sleep - I usually end up falling asleep around 8am and then only sleep for about 2 hours. I have tried listening to music as it used to relax me and lull me to sleep but that doesn't even help anymore. I tried playing computer games and found myself nodding off...turned off computer and boing, I'm wide awake. I used to take sleeping pills (OTC) but found that I was taking more than recommended so stopped those. I am looking forward to being a part of this team and learning from this sleepy team!

Hi, I have several sleep problems, I have sleep apnea and wear a C-pap machine (8 years now!). The worst thing is restless leg syndrome and periodic limb movement syndrome. I can be asleep and kicking so hard my husband leaves the bed. I am taking meds to sleep, requip for the restless legs (which usually works) trying to go to bed at a regular time, etc. Also just saw a urologist about the getting up to go to the bathroom frequently. I hope I can contribute to the group and look for some support as I just had a breakdown last week and was very sleep deprived from a recent hip operation.
Thanks for being here.

My name is Maurene, I've been a spark member for 8 days. My sleep problems are very erratic. I will sleep well for 1 or 2 nights, then not sleep 3 to 5 nights. Some times I fall asleep right away, but wake at 3-3:30, and can't fall back to sleep. I've tried so many things! From warm milk, and a good book, to melatonin strips! Everything works for a night or two, then I'm right back where I was. Some nights it takes me forever to get comfortable, and fall asleep, but once I do, I stay asleep all night. The down side to this is, I don't feel rested in the morning! We even went so far as to buy a new bed last year! Of course it worked, for the first couple nights!

Hey there. I am so glad to find this team, and I hope y'all can help me. I can't remember the last time I slept through the night...between getting up to go to the bathroom, or getting up to let my dog out in the middle of the night, I am constantly having my sleep interrupted. And then there are the nights when I can't shut off my brain. I hope this team can provide some insight as to why I have these problems...

Hi there, I was also surprised to find a support group for insomnia! I have severe depression which lends itself to quite regular insomnia. I can go days without sleeping, which feeds the depression and hurts my diet - I tend to eat a lot of carbs to try to feel better. Now I am on trazadone for sleep. It works, but I feel pretty groggy the next day. I'm going to try to taking it earlier. Here's to catching some zzzzz's!

Hi my name is Brenda. I just joined spark people to track my weight lose fight. I didn't know I would run into help for other problems. I have had chronic insomnia for about 12 years. I have run the gammit of tests meds and therapy. Noone can figure out why I can't sleep. My family and friends just laugh when I tell them that my body has adapted to very little sleep.

I'm hoping to get some new ideas here.

thanks.

Hi I'm new.

I would like to lose around 50-60 pounds. I am really excited to be a part of SparkPeople! I have always had trouble sleeping! I remember being six and having to toss and turn. I'm hoping by eating better and exercising will help me get better sleep.

Kashmir - you sound similar to me in sleep habits. I wake several times the night and once I am up I am up for hours. Also have trouble getting to sleep in the first place. So frustrating. Melatonin makes me climb the walls as well. So do most allergy meds. My husband has hypersomnia - he falls asleep way to fast. So frustrating when I am up at night - I just want to poke him! Good Luck with the sleep study!

Just joined sparkspeople today and checking out all the things I can do on here. I haven't slept well for years. I just can't shut off my brain at night. And now I read all this info about how lack of sleep can cause weight gain. Great! I knew it wasn't the cake!

I just joined today and already face challenges ahead of me after doing weekly meal plan.I real have a problem with sleeping and I donīt know why.Usually it happens when I think about my morning shift which starts at 7am.However I noticed when I do exercise like walking or body bump, I get so tired and I easily fall asleep after that.Iīm happy to be one of you and I hope I will be able to solve my problems by following the guides and read more from your experiences.Thanks. emoticon

Hi my name is miranda and I'm new to the whole sparkpeople thing. i'm in the air force so I'm used to long days with hardly any sleep. it doesn't help that i've been on three different shifts in a year so my sleep schedule is all messed up. hopefully being on here will help me learn some things to help me sleep better.

Hi all...Hoping to get some added support by joining this team, and maybe some ideas on how to end my insomnia.
I've always had a wacked sleep schedule since I was a child, with some really bad times in the past when I was under stress. Over the last 3-4 months it's become super bad though, and with no underlying cause that I can put my finger on, other than being perimenopausal maybe!
OTC meds and meletonin wake me up and have me climbing the walls most of the time when I take them.
It's getting so bad recently that the sleeplesness is affecting my eating and my ability to exercise and run and work too!
I'm taking a sleep study from my HMO this week, then I will attend a class...but in the meantime I'm finding it more and more difficult to function day to day. I'll sleep for 2 hours one night, 6 the next (but will wake up 5 or 6 times or more during that 6 hours), then two nights of 2 hours, etc etc....

Hello and Welcome Liz. Your's is a classic student life so I applaud you for trying to make it better.

Hi there, I'm Elizabeth (or Liz for short). I'm a student and I tend to spend many nights studying instead of sleeping.... I like to think I can just power my way through my day without eight hours of rest, but my rapidly declining energy levels are telling me I can't. So, I'm trying to break my addiction to caffeine and start getting more rest every night. emoticon

Hi,
My name is Sue and I am a night owl.
Last night I was up working on my daughter's computer and didn't get to bed until 3am. Still was up by 9:30am or so. I've been a night owl since I was a teenager, but it seems to have gotten worse the past few years. I often have trouble falling asleep at night and when I do, the sleep is not a deep one.
Any tips and ideas I can get for a good night's sleep are welcome!

Welcome JoEllen. Good to have you aboard. I worked nights in the hospital when I was younger so I know exactly where you are coming from. Of course, I could seem to manage well on less sleep then. Now I'm just tired all the time.

When things were not going the way I wanted them to, my Mother used to always say "this too will pass" and she was always right. These excess pounds will pass too if we believe.

Hello all, my name is JoEllen. I currently live in VT with my husband Scott and our daughter Lily. I work 12 hour night shifts at our local hospital on the women and children's unit. Between my family, my job and my home life I'm always lacking in the sleep department. I joined SparkPeople as part of my New Years resolution to a better me. I'm looking forward to meeting lots of friends on here.

Hi, I am also new to sparkspeople but looking forward to it. I just returned from vacation and realized that the sleep that I got has given me a new determination. Now I need to figure out how to make sure I am getting enough sleep so that I can maintain the good attitude that I have now.

I am new to the whole sparkpeople experience and can definitely use some pointers for getting more sleep. Some nights I just plain can't get to sleep and others I go right to sleep but wake up two hours later and can't get back to sleep. Sound familiar.

Howdy

My guess is nobody is getting any sleep!

I have had insomnia for years and years and years.

I think I have tried a million different meds to help but nothing does.

My youngest has a sleep disorder so we tend to be up all night so even if I could sleep I wouldn't be allowed to.

TIPS are welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ps, Ambien makes me very, very silly!

Hi, I'm also relatively new, especially to the message boards. However, I think I will benefit from this group the most. I have been dealing with insomnia for years. I'm happy to report that my improved diet and fitness program, courtesy of Spark People seems to be aiding in improving my sleep. My doctor suggested that I picture a large black dot, rather than a "peaceful place" as I'm trying to fall off to sleep. She knows that I'll just go exploring rather than sit and relax if it were an actual place. She's a smart woman who knows me well ;) If you're like me, than you do your best thinking in a quiet dark place and it's extremely hard to shut your mind off. So, give it a try.

Hi, yet another newbie! I'm Holly, 26, and have had sleep problems since I was around 13 I think. It used to be just phases of a few weeks of not sleeping every few months but it's become more of a constant now, I usually get 6 hours sleep a night maximum and wake up a lot throughout the night. I've tried everything I can think of, from wearing myself out during the day to sleeping pills, and nothing seems to get me to sleep!

Just been looking around this site and am lost, but very impressed with all that is on here. I have bad sleep apnea 120 episodes and hour, 107 no air. I have been on a CPAP for about 8 years when it was finally diagnosed. They said I probably had had it about 15 years then, I sleep much better now, but never feel rested. I had a terrible time with a bad back disc last year at this time and after screaming a month, decided I should start working on my health and not just take care of everyone but me. I still don't sleep well, but I have lost 60lbs. and in between joint/back troubles am working hard. I look forward to having a place for my sleep questions, and will take the previous advice to focus on just a few areas. Thanks for being here!!!

There are lots of articles here look in the health section or just enter sleep in the search section and it will pull up all sorts of stuff.
This sight has lots of stuff. I have found that I just focus on just a few things that interest me and just a few teams i keep up on.
Good luck with your sleep and keep up the healthy living.

Hi! I started SP last week but haven't checked in here yet. I've read through a lot of the introductory posts that others have left. I have to agree with many of them: this website is a bit confusing to navigate through. So many bells and whistles! Also, like many, I have trouble sleeping. It just started this year. Either I can't fall asleep until 3 or 4, or I wake up at 3 and am up for the rest of the night. Like many here, I know it is stress. I wake up worrying about the bills I can't pay, etc. So, what is next? Where can we find info that will help? Are there articles here to help us?

I hav etried to make my bedroom a sleep haven. No TV no bright alarm clocks etc. I try and make it so when I lay down in bed it is to sleep (ok there is one other reason for the bed too but that's another subject)I find if I watch tv in bed or read suspencful books etc then it is harder to go to sleep. DOn't answer the phone after 9:00 and turn down the volume on the answering machine.
If you can't sleep get up read in the living room then try again.
Also give yourself a break sometimes our body gets out of wack and it will take time to get it back into a regular sleep pattern.
Just keep trying good things and it will start to improve.
Last year I was having sleep problems and I went to the sleep doctor and did sleeping pills etc. it helped but after a few months I didn't need any of that and now I am drug free and can sleep on my own.
So please be patient and let your body adjust in it's time frame.

Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.

I have always had a lot of problems with sleep. Sometimes worse than others and then sometimes I got too much when I was really depressed for a few days. But, I am obviously awake at almost two in the morning and not in bed. I have been having some serious trouble sleeping through the night. I do have bipolar and some other conditions. Plus pain from physical health problems. Yet, like Salongirl, I also have a problem thinking about stuff sometimes like tonight. I was so tired between ten and eleven and I had to get some stuff done before bed yet as soon as I laid my head down the light were on in my head. It was as if my head knew that the pillow was coming and the chatter was on!!! I guess that is because I had a really eventful day and no time to process it until now. But, my goodness. I had just subscribed to the newsletter about sleep yesterday and the hyperlink to this group sent me here. So, I thought I would give it a try. I am sad to say, I am also going to try medicine. I have an appointment with my psychiatrist tomorrow afternoon. I was getting desperate. If I don't sleep on schedule everything is out of whack physically and mentally and I can't achieve anything during the day. I just go into a fog for hours until the late afternoon. If that doesn't happen the first day, it will happen the next. I'm just on my email right now so I can get my head in another direction and then lay down again. I also know that sleep is key in health and weight loss, so I really need to give it a try.

~on a new road~

HI! I am so glad to have found this page. I am always tired but never go to bed before midnight and then think about all the stuff in the world in my head. haha. I am excited to find some new ways to get me sleeping and fellowship with others who have this problem.

Hi all! I am new to the team and jumped on board to grab any advise to help me sleep better. I can fall asleep easily, but no matter what time I go to bed, I wake up between 4-4:30am. If I let myself fall back asleep, then I feel horrible when my alarm goes off at 6:00am, but I'm afraid if I don't get the extra hour(s), that I will crash and burn later on in the day. I have struggled with fatigue for quite some time. Anyone else have a similar problem? Any advice?

Thanks!
Yolanda

Hey! I'm Andi!

Well, obviously - I have sleeping problems. I have insomnia and I guess it's related to anxiety/depression. I'm not sure - my doctor gave me meds for all 3, actually.

I was on Ambien for a time...but I started sleepwalking. I was switched to Lunesta...but now I'm having trouble falling asleep again. It's really starting to affect me.

Hopefully, I can use this team as a resource and try to get some quality sleep again - b/c I used to be so good at it!

Hi emoticon I'm new here too. I work the graveyard shift and find getting to sleep almost impossible at times. Can't seem to shut my brain down. Hi, I started caring for my Father-in-law in March of 2009. I am his full time caregiver. He is in the beginning of the final stage of Alzheimer's disease. He wakes up during the night sometimes which has thrown my sleep pattern off. When he wakes up, I have a hard time falling back asleep and now I wake up a lot on my own and have a difficult time trying to fall back asleep. I just recently started a fitness program hoping that it will help me rest better. I am looking for suggestions for insomnia. This reminds me of when my twins were infants and woke up all the time at night.

I'm new to this team. In the past about a year ago I was really having problems sleeping. Went to a sleep doctor and did the sleep test I don't have Sleep Apnea but he said I have upper respatory distress syndrome Which I think means I snore at times. Well I have been wearing the mask but it keeps me awake because I move around. So two months ago I stopped wearing it and feel better and I have been sleeping well except the last two nights haven't been as good. So I decided to join this team so that I can glean from your experiences and be able to implement them into my own life.

Hi. My name is Glenda & I live in California.
I've had sleep problems on & off for the last 10 years. I go through bouts of depression, and will sleep too much, and often at the wrong times... awake at night & sleep the whole day. Once my "clock" gets off, I have a hard time getting back to normal even after I'm feeling better. Currently, my doctor is adding Xanax for anxiety to the plethora of other medications I'm taking, since I'm still having some nights where I get no sleep at all, even with a sleeping pill. After a no sleep night, the next night I crash & oversleep. I'm tired of being a yo-yo. emoticon

Hi!
My name is Cindy, and I live in (mostly) sunny Florida. I have had sleeping problems since my second pregnancy, 19 years ago... I seem to have the most trouble with sleeping between midnight and 4am. I started working nights a couple of months ago (8-4) since I'm awake at night anyway. I work at home, so I can be in bed by 4:30, but my inability to stay asleep has followed me into the new schedule and I have trouble sleeping past 9:30 in the morning, at the latest. *sigh!*

Yes, I CAN!

Hi, my name is Debbie. I have had trouble sleeping for a long time. I can fall asleep but I wake up in the night. I wake up in the morning exhausted. I started thinking about things and I realized that I dream that I'm work or doing daily things. But in my dreams it's about things that could go wrong. Sometimes I wake up and I'm not sure if it was a dream. Do you think that this could be why I'm so tired?

my name is steph and i have had insomnia since my second pregnancy. this has been 8 years ago. my problem is falling asleep. i have been on all kinds of sleeping pills, but have had a scary experience once on ambien. i took one and the next thing i remembered was waking up in the hospital after i had accidentally taken the entire bottle. the scary thing is that i don't remember taking them. my doctor has said that if i could lose some weight, maybe my sleeping habits could be better. so here i am!

Hello~
I joined a few weeks ago. Sleep for me has been a problem for the past 15 yrs. Usually, like clockwork, I wake at 3 am., wide, fully awake! I check the clock and realize that it isn't time to get up, so I end up reading and about an hour or so later, fall back asleep to awaken for the day at 6:30 am. I feel like I'm dragging through most days, sleep deprived.

Kathleen, I can relate to your sleep problems. And, I never thought about it before, but I've always been a night person, too.
My husband is the one that was just diagnosed with sleep apnea, and now he sleeps great! I, in another room, still have insomnia.
Last night: no Ambien and slept almost 6 1/2 hours! Finally, after almost two weeks of 4 hrs. average a night!

My name is Kathleen,I'm 54 and I've always been a night owl, so maybe that has caused my insomnia. I have always felt tired after waking up. 2 years ago I saw a sleep doctor, I have severe sleep apnea, stopping breathing 90 times in an hour, now with my mask and machine I'm down to 3 times a hour. But if it takes hours to get to sleep that doesn't help.
I just got married in 2008, we sleep apart, because my husband can go to sleep in 5 minutes, and it takes me hours. He also loves to get up at 6 am, every day. Me, I'm not a morning person, I try for 10 am, but if I've only been asleep 5 hours, I'm still tired. Sometimes that causes a little tension between us, I'm not sure my husband understands what I mean when I say, I can't get to sleep. I have tried Ambien, it didn't work, Lunesta, makes me so groggy I can't think, and I still don't sleep. I have tried: warm bath, warm milk, chamomile tea, soft music. I would love another suggestion.
Sorry this is so long, I think I needed to vent a bit about it.
I hope we all have some sleep!
Kathleen
