It is big word they gave me but it is basically the bones coming together and rubbing with tendons in between. I had gave up bowling for a year but missed it so went back with a lighter ball. They have done epidurals in my spine for the pain which did real well and lasted for 2 years. So now that it is flaring up again I will have to see if that is what they will do again. I know my right leg is not as strong anymore so have to watch how I take the stairs but I don't let it slow me down. I am a person that likes to keep busy so know losing the weight will be best to keep me young.

I am impressed that you are able to bowl. One thing people with back problems must do is increase their exercise slowly and carefully. So it looks like you are off to a great start. There is an article on improving your core muscles to help protect your back on the Links.

You didn't say what your back problem is because that will make a difference in what activities you can or cannot do.

I am 66 yrs old and need to get back in shape. I retired 3 years ago as the baker for our school. I was told to retire and get off the cement or I would have to have back surgery. I still go in and sub 2 days a week but can only handle 3 hours a day. I do 10 min. on a treadmil at least 3 times a week and also bowl one night a week. Getting the eating under control is the goal for me. I will get back to the doctor next month to check out my back and my Barrets esphyeges(sp?).
