Lauren, when I make the soup, I divide it into individual serving containers and freeze. I always have several kinds frozen, and it's simple to defrost one in the microwave any time I need it. The vegetables should be OK in the fridge though they get a little droopy after a few days. The coco sauce and the orange oil keep a long time in the fridge.

Good luck!

Joanie

Hi, my name is Pam and I am new to the team. I am starting Day 5 of the Plan and have lost 3.2 pounds. I have been diagnosed with food allergies in the past and have been looking for a food elimination diet to determine sensitivities or allergies when I stumbled across Lyn-Genet on Dr. Oz. I feel that this plan will be helpful in narrowing down reactive foods that cause health issues, and am looking forward to feeling healthier. I am so glad to have found this spark team and hoping to gain more insight into the program, as well as be of some help to others.

Columbia Bread Co. has a TP approved flax granola. It actually tastes very good compared to what I made.

emoticon Lwv2010,

It sounds like you're excited to start this. Have you done the test for yeast overgrowth or thyroid disfunction yet? They're easy enough to do, even while you're traveling. If you have either of these problems it's best to start the supplements before you begin testing otherwise your test results could be off.

Take some time to shop and prepare the 1st 3 days food. Lyn has a shopping list and guide on how to do it in 70 minutes on her website. It's in the same area that you found the Spring menu & cookbook.

The flax granola that you eat for breakfast will need to be made or bought on-line. What you find in the grocery store has oatmeal in it which is a separate test. You'll need to soak the flax seed overnight and then bake it for 1 1/2 to 2 hours at a low temp.

Hope this helps.

Jocy

Lola369 - Welcome to our team and congrats on the weight loss. It's always exciting to see the scale go down. I've found that the physical reactions to foods that I react negatively to start on the same day I eat the food and continue for 24 to 48 hours. Most of my reactions have been gastrointestinal distress and headaches.

Lyn suggests that you don't exercise when you are in an inflammatory state. Your body is already working hard trying to clear up that inflammation. You don't want to divert your body's energy away from that important work.

I read that you should not have soup for dinner it causes weight stabilization.

Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired.
The choices before me are mine to choose, win or lose!

Don't wait until you "feel like it " to exercise, that only happens AFTER YOU ARE DONE! ( the first 10 minutes are the hardest, after that it gets easier to keep going)

You never know what you might achieve if you just go for it and push through!

Hi, I know what you mean about the travel, I travel a week per month. I now see if there is a fresh market in the city I am visiting. If that fails I will pickup a bag of salad. For dinners out, I just order a salad and maybe a small appetizer. The Plan issues are much easier than hauling a blender around. I also take a bag if cereal and pickup a small container of rice milk.

Happy travels,
Kym

Mer, you are right, add the carrot soup at lunch to help after a reaction. I follow the general concept most days and I have been mixing matching my meals and still losing over a pound a day. I eat one of the approved breakfasts, either soup and salad for lunch or leftover veggies and salad for lunch followed by dinner which is an approved protein on a bed of greens and an approved cooked veggie, wine & chocolate. Snacks I alternate between the approved and passed list.

LG also says you can fix the ingredients listed for the soup without all the liquid so they are no longer a soup.

Mer...I believe the book said that switching both the lunch and dinners from one day to another was okay. Not sure about flipping the lunch and dinner. Protein at lunch is a separate test. It says not to switch a lunch without switching the dinner from the same day because the days are chemically balanced. However, if it's working for you then go for it!

Welcome! TP is designed to allow you to live your life! You CAN eat on plan at restaurants, you don't have to be perfect and you CAN get back on track with in days of being off track. Check out my recent blogs! There is also a link in there to a revamped carrot ginger soup. I too hated it and set out to revise it and now I find it delicious! Stop by and visit on the daily check in for the most support.

Hi, I'm Kristin. I started the Plan about a month ago and got results, but then fell off the wagon quite a few times. The hardest thing for me is that there is always a lunch out, dinner with friends, party, etc a few times a week. I wish I could avoid all social events for a few months. Another issue is that I despise the carrot/ginger soup and hate the vegetarian soup ! I like pretty much everything else. I am trying to do some clean days so that I can test some of my favorites.........but I am traveling the next 2 weekends........ so it's going to be hard

Hallo, I am Maggie and I am living in New Zealand. I have been following Mandi's blog and she inspired me to know what foods are Maggie-friendly. I just got the book from the library and I am keen to read it. I will not start until I have done the reading and then on top of that we will be moving house on the 13th.

They say that physical reactions speak louder than weight gain. If you had a migraine it may have been detox but it may have been a reaction even with the loss. I would test again before you consider them safe. Also the low loss on the next day could have been soup for dinner or could have been goat cheese- I would redo the goat cheese day just to be sure.

Also we have a daily check in thread that you can use to get questions answered daily. I don't know that everyone is super good about checking this thread.

Good Luck!

Hi Unicorn,

Definitely makes sense to consider all the angles. Your ideas and observations help us all. I do like that LG says Silk and Rice Dream can be consumed with breakfast and lunch, and wine are no problem with can be done with dinner. Coffee is ok with breakfast. I believe her thinking based on thousands of clients is that water dilutes the digestive process if consumed with a meal. That includes teas.

Once I get to the point where I feel more certain of which foods help fuel me without gaining weight, I will definitely test drinking tea with my meals! Thank you for helping me consider making drinking water or tea with meals a new test!

I lurked here for the week before I started the plan and want to say thank you for all the helpful tips. It made the transition that much easier.
I know that everyone is different but I never worry about when I drink my water other than being done within 3-4 hours before bed. I personally feel that obsessing about those little details puts undue stress on our bodies and can cause inflammation which in turn can cause weight gain. I think we need to remember that even though most of this is based on science and our physical reaction to foods there is always an emotional factor as well and stressing out about too many rules could actually be as much of a problem as eating the wrong things.
Lib: I love your explanation it's so detailed and will help alot of people (including me). I figured the sleep thing and it was nice to see someone confirm this. I actually weighed myself this morning after only 6 hours of sleep and was expecting to gain weight and was really happy to see -.8 on the scale. Thanks for the information.

Hi Kris-

Your weight gain was definitely a reactive response. Major inflammation to be up .4. I agree that it may have been the aciditiy of the chocolate but it could be a variety of other factors. Unless you are within 10 pounds of your body's set point (ideal weight), then losing -.3 or more means you had a friendly day. If your result the next morning is between -.2 and +.2, you had a mild reaction. If you gain +.3 or more, you had a major reaction.

If you lost .3 or more one day, and were up .4 the next day, then you would do any previously friendly day until you see your weight start to come down again (even just a -.1 would show that your body is recovering from the inflammation, but you could choose to do another safe or friendly day - eating just safe foods). It is your plan.

If you had a friendly day with the very same cheese in the same amount, then it was likely to be the extra acidity in the 72% chocolate. Did you drink all of the water for your day? Did you remember to drink it at least 45 minutes before and 45 minutes after your meals? Did you remember not to drink any more water after dinner? Did you drink coffee or wine? If you drank coffee, did you only drink caffeinated (not decaf) and did you add half and half or something with fats to cut the acidity? Did you make sure to only have it in the morning? If you drank wine, did you remember to drink an extra 4-6 oz of water earlier in the day to compensate for it?

Did you get a full 8 hours of sleep?

For every 2 hours of sleep that you lack, your morning weight could be up between .2 and 1.0 pounds! It is during that 8 hours of sleep that your body is healing and using that food/nutrition to repair and process what you ate.

We have a new topic that anyone can start each day to report our progress and get feedback. It is certainly a chemistry experiment!

Glad to hear that your eczema is eliminated on the plan!
Keep us posted,
lib

MOMXOXO2 If it was me would retry the chocolate after a friendly day. If you go too high then the acidity of the chocolate get alot higher which can cause inflammation. Get a lower percentage I have 55% and have lost 8.8 lbs in 5 days. If that is not the culprit then try your cheese seperately on another day.

I just started following "The Plan" and I am 3 pounds down after 4 days!
Did anyone else find it hard to wrap your brain around the whole thing when you started?

Anyway, I am loving the results, even if it makes more dishes! LOL

I'm almost finished with the book. I most definitely see how the concepts work. I've already come to some conclusions prior to this on certain foods, and will try them again to see how they test. Now I know what to look for and I am glad to see how conclusions I have been slowly developing are reaffirmed with this plan. I love it when things come together.

I don't remember reading it in the book but, I wonder if the kind oof chicken used can make a difference? I've switced from conventional to organic. I can't help but think if the chicken has been injected with fillers, that extra sodium has to go somewhere. What kind of chicken are you usi g?
