Hi, I'm Robin. I've been involved with SP for the last 2.5 years on a on again off again basis. I had lost 50 pounds but have let 20 creep back on. I'm going on a cruise in 5.5 weeks and would like to renew my effort to get the pounds off. I had already started including more fruits and vegies in my diet and I thought this would be the perfect spark team/challenge for me. Thank you for creating the challenge!

Hi! I'm looking forward to this challenge because I hope it will help me to break through the weight loss plateau I've been having for the last almost four months (gauh!). Controlling my sweet tooth lately has been an issue, I guess I should be thankful my workouts are keeping me from gaining weight back. Hopefully with this challenge I will be more focused on eating fruits and veggies and won't even want to look at cookies or ice cream!

hello
My name is Marieann and I am 54. I joined SP few years ago and to date am down almost 50 lbs but have been at a stand still for last couple of years. I have worked with 3 trainers and have learned WHAT to do and NOT do but just need a kick in the butt to get back on track.

As of today I am recording everything i eat and hoping that this along with my committment to get back to the gym to shed the remaining 50 lbs to reach my overall goal of 100 lbs before 2014.
Be happy to hear from anyone in the same boat as me.
thanks

Hi There!

My name is Meg, and I'm 26 years old. I've been heavy for most of my life. I joined Spark People a while ago and never really got started. Now that my husband and I want to start our own family, I want to be healthier and more energetic so I will have the stamina to keep up with little ones! Our eating habits are terrible now, so I'd love to get started on a diet that includes lots of fruits and veggies and all the stuff that's good for us. :)

Hi! I'm Davenne. Sounds like I share my reason for joining with lots of people in this challenge---I've got the exercise down, now I need to fix this eating thing! ;)

I am a vegetarian and I LOVE fruits and veggies, but I also love simple carbs and SUGAR! I've recently ramped up the exercise I am getting and am on Level 3 of the 30-Day Shred. But that means I'm extra-hungry and my eating has felt out of my control lately. I want to start really seeing the "pounds melt away," but most of all, I want to have more energy than I do now!

Hi! My name is Nancy. I have been doing SparkPeople for a while and I have lost 40 pounds but need to lose 30 more. I am struggling with diet burn-out and hoping to refocus and reboot my weight loss. I love to cook and am enjoying experimenting with new recipes with fruits and vegetables.

Hi, my name is Bridget and I was using Sparkpeople years ago with great success. I met someone new stopped following my spark plan and gained about 40Lbs :( . Now I am ready to take control again and get back on track to eat better and lose weight. I am hoping my partner will follow suit but right now I am doing this for me.

Hi,

I'm Nancy and I live in Missouri. I'm the only one in my "household" and the nearest family is 2+ hours away. I need to lose weight to bring my blood pressure down and also have been told I am pre-diabetic. I need a lifestyle change which revolves around healthy food and good exercise. I will say that since I've been on SP this time, reading the messages/blogs, my attitude has improved 100%!!

Hi. My name is Karen. Was doing W.W, and doing ok, lost 32 pounds, but it took 7 months. Had to scale back my finances, so W.W. had to go. I had been a sparker years ago, and fell off the spark wagon. So I am very happy to be back, and would like to join this challenge.

Hi,

My name is Renee and I am a 51 year old woman and I want my life back. I am a single mother who has dedicated my life to raising my son's. However they are 21 and 17 so it is time to focus on myself. I have struggled all my life with weight issues considering I am only 4'10 5lbs makes a big difference on me. I have tried many things over the years some successful some not, however I will never stop trying. Hoping this one will jump start me once again down the road to better health. I understand size and scales do not determine health, I simply want to be back in a normal range for my height.

Hi ya'll~I am Amye, 43, wife, step mother and dog lover. I was doing really well on Spark People til we went on a cruise at the end of February. Once we got home, I got sick and just have had a hard time getting back on track so this seemed like the perfect challenge to keep me even more accountable to a healthy life style.

I love veggies and so far have been able to sneak them into things that my husband never would dream of. He is a "country cookin'" veggie lover but I never have liked all that butter or bacon in all those vegtables so I would skip them. This is a journey for us both even if he isn't an official Spark People member.

Hi Im Christy, I have 2 teenage children and recently the company I worked for closed its doors and that has put me a stay at home mom for the time being. I became serious with sparks in 2011 and lost 38 pounds in 6 months, history repeated itself and I put 33 of that back on. In 2012 I struggled to stay above ground I kept gaining and losing the same 15 pounds over and over, finally I am slowly moving forward and need to make sure I keep myself going that way.

Hi, I'm Lynn. I'm a 46 year old mother of two grown daughters, and I have never liked vegetables! In the last 5 years I have learned to have a fondness for butternut squash, spinach, even peas when mixed in with rice. I have tried many times to eat veggies, and I've tried many different preparation methods, but just can't seem to get my taste buds wrapped around them. The upside is that my kids love veggies, so I'm always cooking and trying, but I really need to find that healthy zone.

I lost 42 pounds last year here on SP, but I want to lose more and be healthier. I have type II diabetes, and I have been struggling to get it under control the last few months. I am also getting married next year, and want to be healthier going into our new life together.

Hi I'm Jane , other of three 18, 21 & 25. New time in my life, the nest is empty 3/4 of the year so I decided it's my time. I am a BC survivor of 6 yrs and hoping it stays away. That is why I entered this challenge . I love veggies because they will keep me NED, not so much the DH. He eats them cause I make him. 9 weeks into WW and I lost 11.4 lbs, almost at my 5%, hopefully this week. A life stlye change is the journey I'm on , "diet" isn't part of the vocabulary here, it puts the emphasis in the wrong place.

Hi everyone! I am new to the team. My name is Melissa and I am a 47 year old career mother of 3 boys and happily married to the hubby. :-)

I want to lose 50 pounds. I would like to say by the end of the year, however I think it may take me longer. lol My mini goal is 8 pounds by the end of the challenge. I weigh 180 and my ulitmate weight goal is 125. It is going to be a long hard journey full of ups and downs... but the one thing I am committed to is never stopping! I am just going to keep going!

I have my own personal challenge for my oldest son... I am walking to Mortar to destroy the rings at Mount doom. It is the path Frodo and Sam took in the Lord of the Rings. The journey from Hobbiton to Mount Doom is 1779 miles. I think it is cool that I have doing this! Right now I am just starting my journey and the first leg is from Hobbiton to Rivendell. This is 458 miles. so far I am at 3.2 miles. lol I gotta start somewhere!

Every journey begins with one step.

Lots of inspiring stories here! I'm 38, a full-time working mom of 2 elementary-age kids who are in the lowest end of the growth curves for height/weight. I'm trying to lose around 15 lbs, and I struggle to make calorie-dense things for the kids (doctor's orders), and low-calorie things for me! It's an odd situation. Husband is supportive and kinda just goes along with whatever, but he needs to eat better, too (more veggies, less fast food).

Just looking for a little extra nutrition advice -- I have felt so hungry when I'm on the low end of my calorie range (1250)!

Hi. I am 56 years old, my husband passed away in December, 2012. I have no desire to do much of anything. Caring for my husband the last 3 years, has been my life.

I'm not eating well, and I'm not getting much activity. I hope reaching out to others, will help me find a new "spark" for life.

Call me Jenn. I used to think my biggest challenge was getting into a work out routine. I've been slowly making that a part of my life over the last 2 years. I completed C25K, I've finished a couple of 5Ks, I've finished the Warrior Dash. I am currenly adding strength training and have been going to the gym fairly consistently for the past 2 months to make that happen. Over the course of this time (2 years) I've only managed to lose about 10 pounds. I mentioned this to my OB/GYN. She said at "my age" (47) it is 80% diet and 20% exercise. My husband's pop pop also made a comment to me that kind of makes sense. I told him how I had changed some things but hadn't really lost any weight. He said well, if you've changed "X" and you haven't lost any weight, than "X" must not be the probelm. So I realize I need to revamp my diet more than I have. My husband is very supportive, but needs direction...he's mostly the cook and I'm the bottle washer. I'm looking for ways I can improve our diet that we will stick to.

Hi,
I am 45 years old with a 15 year old daughter. I am a vegan who had surgery a little over a month ago. I tend to stay with the known veggies not a lot of variety.

I am hoping - to loose weight but more than that. I want to expand the veggies I eat. Hoping to lower calorie count while adding vitamins and minerals.

I'm Michelle, I'm 45 years old with an Infant and a Toddler. I have been heavy most my life but since having my children in my 40's put on my highest weight and have been really struggling to get it off and keep it off. I lost weight twice before using Spark, after each baby, I just never made it to my total goal weight. With the support, trackers, challenges and info here, I know it will help me do it again. Going all the way this time and for life. Best Wishes to you all.

Hi, I am Dena and I have joined this challenge to continue on my path to a long and healty life. I have always eating lots of fruit and vegetables but find that I am not consistently eating my requirements on a daily basis. So I am hoping this challenge will aid in allowing me to achieve the 5-9 requirements daily.

If I put quotation marks around DRB13_1's comments, it would be the same answer I would have given. So, I will add that I am nearly 60 years old and have fought my weight gain for 10 years. Menopause and that I quit smoking gave me added weight gain and depression. Poor eating habits of a lifetime started to show up in how I feel physically and mentally. Now I am learning to eat right, have found that I feel better both physically and mentally and am ready to drop this extra 50 pounds permanently,

I'm from NC and trying to get out of the "obese" category this year. Injuries and chronic pain limit my activities sometimes, and improving my meal choices will certainly help me be more successful. Plus, I love earning trophies!
Trying to remember the healthy plate is 1/2 vegetables (and fruit), 1/4 whole grains and 1/4 protein, with two dairy/calcium sources a day. I drink PLENTY of water and feel I've done well giving up sodas (except for a rare occasion).
Looking forward to sharing with my new teammates.

I'm a 25 year old who just returned home from working overseas for a year. I'm really anxious to get all the tasty nutrients I can get my hands on. I have always struggled with weight and eating habits. I'm really ready to focus on overall health with the added benefit of weight loss. I seem to really be in need of some accountability... I'm a wagon jumper. Danger!

I'm a busy working mom of 10 year old twins who both have multiple disabilities (=lots of stress, therapies, extra help and extra work).
I lost about 37 pounds with Sparkpeople 2 1/2 years ago. Gradually over time it has come back, helped along by a year+ struggle with H. Pylori (finally gone for good) and lots of stresses and losses, including the death of my estranged sister to leukemia just 13 months ago.

I signed on with a group at work to a team of Shape Up RI, and that has inspired me to be more consistent with Sparking. I know what works for me, and I am excited that I am finally starting to feel the results of the efforts I've been putting in these past few weeks. I saw this team and challenge highlighted on my start page, and I thought I would join. I firmly believe that it is possible and actually desirable to enjoy eating real food at every stage of this journey. Recognizing and adhering to proper portions has been important for me to learn.

I'm eating lots of fruits and veggies this week and am preparing some broccoli, red pepper and red onion for a pasta salad for today.

Welcome, Barb. I also had portion control challenges. When I started tracking & measuring I discovered how much I had actually been eating. It helps keep me accountable to track everything.

No fad diets for me!

No one said it'll be easy. It may be really hard. Let's do it right and make it a new lifestyle.
