My name is Cathy and I have joined this team because I need to be a bit more accountable when it comes to what goes in my mouth. I have been with Sparkpeople since May of last year, but really only in earnest since mid January of this year. Today begins my real journey - need to lose it, need to fit back into all those clothes lying dormant in closets and drawers. Hoping all team members can help me, and hoping I can lend a hand while I'm at it.

Hi I'm Cheryl.

I already tend to eat minimum amounts of processed foods but I have learned that doesn't necessarily mean I'm eating right. I don't think I'm getting enough nutrients in my diet since I don't eat a lot of fruits and veggies. My goal is to find the right balance of foods in my diet so I can feel more energetic during the day and still have enough fuel leftover for my workouts.

Hello, Im Tava Lynn, Im Excited to Join This Challenge and Get Healthier. I have always struggled with my weight , I recently was not able to work anymore and at age 38 that was discouraging. This Is the BOOST I Need SPARKS PEOPLE, I Joined 2/27/13 I Am Holding myself accountable for everything I put in my mouth, ESPECIALLY after i track it and see how MANY Calories and CARBS, etc I just ate. Hello. Iím on a doctor supervised diet plan and thought this might be a fun way to help stay focused, on track with the doctor diet. I donít eat snacks because with this plan, 5hrs are required between meals and there is no snacking. I find that it flows simpler for me, as I was not one to snack between meals. I am into week 5 of the doctor diet, have lost 17lbs in total since January 1st (between the doctor plan and the bit I did prior to the doctor diet starting up). Iím looking forward to learning more on nutrition.

Hi, I'm Donna,
I used Spark People a few years ago, now I am back.
I need to start eating healthy (but some of the time I don't have the right kinds of food) I am on Disability, by the time I pay my bills, there isn't much left to buy food or my scripts.
I really want to do this!! I need help with tracking, and learning to eat 3 meals a day. I was thinking about eating mini meals.
I need to lose some weight but I also need to learn how to maintain my weight.

HI, I'm Sophie.
I've used Spark People in the past but never completed my weight loss with it. I did lose almost 60 lbs with Slimming World a few years ago. But during the year where I was taking care of my ailing father, and while mourning after he passed, I managed to gain it all back +some. While I have set a weight loss goal, my main concern is getting healthy and strong so that I can train for roller derby again. I joined this group because I want to build healthy food habits that will actually stick with me for the rest of my life.

Hello. My name is Connie. I need to lose 100 pounds. Even if I could just lose half of that, my life would be so different.

I struggle with foot pain, eczema, and binge eating. I've also had Lab band surgery, which was later removed due to severe complications.

For a long time, I've just felt beat up when it comes to food. I eat too much; I feel bad. I eat healthy; I feel bad because it takes so long. I'm tired of being in this body. I don't even mind being fat. I just don't want to be THIS fat.

I'm hoping this challenge will help me restart my journey towards weight loss.

Hi my name is Becky. My husband and I are slowly trying to adopt a more clean eating life style. Me to loose weight and feel better, him I think so he will know what to do when the zombies attack. It's always in the back of his mind. I try to do low carb and have decided I should cut back on the gluten. Those foods are just so tasty though. I'm Susan from Central Virginia. I have 2 grown children and 5 grandchildren. I retired from one career (31 years) and began a 2nd career (in my 13th year now). I hope to be able to work another 2-5 years. I have more than 100 pounds to lose, though I'm taking it in increments instead of thinking about the whole thing. Anyway, I want to be more fit and I wish to achieve that with this challenge.

Hi everyone! My name is Kim, I'm about to turn 43 and have been on SP since Sept '12. Food has always been in issue for me. I'm not a fan of cooking (neither was my mother so I never really learned this skill set) so I tend to grab whatever is quickest. I've improved but still have a long way to go. I have some digestive issues so I am slow to experiment but this has also improved over the past couple of years. I'm glad I found this team and am looking forward to completing the challenge and learning some new healthy habits!

HI, I'm Sarah, and I've just completed my first week in this challenge. I keep trying to get to the point of 'introducing myself' but I find myself staring at the screen while reading everyone else's introductions, and I have to admit you are all very motivating! I love the stories of struggles and frustration because it shows me that you are continuing to overcome these obstacles, and that I should be able to overcome my own obstacles too! Thanks everyone for trying so much, you are all an inspiration, and exactly what I need to keep going! Iíve learned so much about watching what I eat and how my intake of food makes me feel since being on Spark beginning in January, that I sometimes wonder how I have lived so long without knowing what I know now. Iíve always been active and an avid Ďdieterí, but the graphs and reports of this site are what help me understand the accountability of my actions.

Plus I am trying to go more vegan (we are vegetarians) and eat healthy.
I have got to try and not hate my job so much as it is depressing me more times than not and I believe that is most of my problem.

I've been on SP since May of 2011, lost 65 lbs and got my life back (had 20 to go to goal), then we could no longer afford Cymbalta for my fibromyalia and when I went off, I learned just how much it had reduced my pain and suppressed my appetite. I've regained 15 lbs in 7 months. So I'm doing this challenge to help me learn to feel full, get my portions back under control (my control, not Cymbalta's artificial control), and get those 15 lbs back off. I know I can't get all 15 off in 4 weeks, but hopefully I can get it at least started!!

I eat mindlessly and crave sweets. i tend to eat a lot of stuff that i shouldn't. sometimes i eat bad snacks or overeat later in the day which means i dont sleep as well or get in as intense of a workout because i feel too full to do intense exercise.

WELCOME .. SP is a wonderful resource with many caring people who help all of us along the way. I've been on my 'Journey to Wellness' since November, and have found that taking it one day at a time has really helped me get ready for and totally into a new lifestyle. Change takes time .. but it's one step at a time. I had to learn two important lessons (1) Don't get too far ahead .. ie (expect too much of myself every day), and (2) making healthy food choices for me was about 'how I see food'. It has become a way of life for me to know that only those foods that make me better will go into my mouth. I'm eating healthier than I have ever eaten in my life .. and it shows. Good Morning, I am new to Spark People. My sister introduced me to this site and I am glad to have found it. I will take time out this weekend to really get to know how to navigate through this site as there is an abundance of information here for me. I have joined this challenge because I am getting older and I want to be at optimal health. I don't always choose the best foods to eat and my stomach is not as resilient as it used to be when I was younger, so I decided to make a lifestyle change for my health. I exercise, but I still need to work on my eating habits and learn how to not obsess over eating unhealthy items. I would love to not dream about food anymore and I am looking forward to the day when I can conquer this as this has been going on since I was a child. I want to learn more about why I overeat and give into cravings and choose things that I know are not healthy for me, through blogging. I want to make sure that as I age, that I am taking care of myself without overdoing it, as I do not want to become one of those that goes up and down with their weight and health. Hi... I am going to try this challenge because I don't seem to stay focused - I do great during the day at work because I "plan" and bring in food and drink for the day. but evenings and especially weekends - not so good. I'm Helen from Missouri. I joined the challenge a couple days ago, read the tip about eating several small meals and did it yesterday. Success! I didn't feel hungry all day like I do sometimes - knew that I could look ahead just a couple of hours to something more to eat, and stayed well within my calories. In fact I had to add some in at the end of the day to get some nutrients in that I had shorted. Good luck everyone, We can do this!! emoticon

Joining this challenge because I need to find healthier meal options and incorporate more vegetables and fruit into my day. I am doing good with staying my calorie range. I need to start trying new foods so I don't get bored eating the same thing.

Hi. I'm Viola from Oklahoma. I drive a truck cross country and it is a challenge to eat healthy and exercise while on the road but I have already lost 40 pounds this last year. Having lost a lot already, I catch myself wanting to revert back to my of eating habits. I have had a lot of success with the spark challenges and although I am already eating healthier and feeling fitter, I still have 20 to 30 pounds to go and I love a good challenge.

Sometimes one day, one hour, one minute or one second at a time is what it takes. As long as you are still moving towards that goal you will reach it.
