suggestion that helped me.
After I am finished with my last meal for the day I go in and brush and floss my teeth. The mint in the tooth paste helps with the sugar cravings not sure how or why but for me it does. also because I hate to re-do things before bed I will not eat after I brush my teeth for the night. I still drink plenty of straight water but nothing that will cause me to have to repeat the tooth brushing before bed.
Just a suggestion that worked for me. emoticon

emoticon SWIMMER_DOE012 and emoticon to SparkPeople and the team challenge...Nice to have you with us on the journey to a healthier lifestyle. Have you tried a walk/jog around that time? Depending on when you turn in, 7pm is not too late to throw in this distraction like this one. It helps me mostly because after working out, I want real food and not sweet so much (that is if you exclude my smoothie that include fruit and really hits the spot on hot summer evenings).

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.

Mistakes are the portals of discovery.

Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Same here. Sugar really is like a drug addiction. The carb load causes serotonin release. I have often passed right out after the sweet treat. Before I had the sugar, I just couldn't fall asleep.

I have wondered if I could just change my falling asleep habit, would the sugar binge gremlin go away? Well, that's a thought....I know all about how to fall asleep, I just don't do it. Not yet, but maybe soon! emoticon

Yes! Back on my feet again. No more exercising like the baby crawling for the goal line. Start walkin baby!

Slowly but surely, moving in a better direction!

I too yo-yo. I start feeling like I am doing so well by losing a few pounds, then something happens and I binge. It gets so hard to get back on track. I notice now that if I tell someone "I need to lose some weight" they never say "oh you look good just as you are!". What a reality check...

Swimmer, great post. I have the same problem after 7 when I am watching t.v.. I exercise and eat very healthy, then I blow it all in a two hour period. But since coming to this challenge I have not done this. I realize that the night eating is the behavior that is keeping me stuck on the plateau and from reaching my goal. I want to lose 15 pounds by my vacation in the fall and I want to tone up by continuing my dance classes.
Lets all be successful together and make those small changes that lead to success.
I am drinking lots of water this week, eating less carbs and allowing my sweet tooth a low carb protein bar that I split into two... one for afternoon tea and one for the 9PM time when I like a little sweet. The protein at night also keeps me from waking up hungry. So far, it is working and I have busted my plateau and am losing again.

Swimmer- you sound JUST like me. Thanks for putting it into words! I "cheat" too, have yo yo'd all my life and do "good" all day and then BAM! Nighttime. It's HARD! But, we're trying again, right? HANG TOUGH!

Slow and steady wins the race!
