I have used Spark to keep me motivated to exercise, eat better and lose weight. Since October, I've run in 3 official 5Ks and 3 unofficial ones each week. I've lost 13 pounds and was able to maintain my weight loss over the Thanksgiving/Christmas celebrations. I need this team to get me to my next goal of losing 10 more pounds and improving my 5K time from 45 minutes to 40 minutes.

Hi! I'm Sarah. I stay at home with my 3 year old here in West Michigan. Money's been tight and I had to give up my gym membership and with my daughter underfoot it's been very hard to work out at home. I need this kick start to get me jumping over obstacles rather than crashing into them head first!

Hello everyone,
I'm Amanda and starting January 1st I'm in training for the Michigander bicycle tour. I've done three tours in the past but had to skip it last year, and instead of staying in shape for future rides I just gave up on my fitness goals. Now I can ride again but I'm nowhere near ready. I'm hoping this challenge will give me the boost I need to get motivated to train through July. I can't wait to earn my trophy, and keep the fitness ball rolling =)

Hello, my name is Pam and I live in Virginia. I am a wife, mother of two grown children, and a recent (late in life!) college grad, and while I've been on Sparkpeople for a long time, have been up ten pounds, down ten pounds, for the last four years due to full time work and college responsibilities. Now that I have finally graduated, I'm ready to go. I have never in my life weighed what I do now, now even when pregnant with my two children-my best friend used sparks to lose 150+ pounds last year, so I'm inspired to follow in her footsteps to lose the 30 that I need to say goodbye to! Hi, I'm Lorraine and I'm starting my second year on SP. I've lost 36 lbs to date. I had hoped to lose 40 lbs this year but I'm happy with my progress so far. My fitness program needs continual attention and I feel this challenge is just what I need at this time. I like to work out now but I need to mix it up more. I've been stuck in a plateau for over two months. My goal this year is to lose another 20 lbs!

Hello! My name is Julie, I am 52 years old, and live in Florida. I started a new job last year and have more opportunity to eat out at lunch. I think that has been the reason for my weight gain this past year even though I was pretty consistent with my workouts. I am looking forward to this challenge and hoping I can stick to it. I need to have more will power about my eating habits. Even though I joined this team today I am going to wait until Jan. 1 to start. Hi! I'm Tammy a southeast Michigan transplant now living in southeast Texas for the last 4 years. I packed on a few pounds since moving and in January 2011 I became a grandma for the first time and I decided enough was enough.
I kept my 2011 New years resolution of no fast food hamburgers or fries, got up off the couch and started exercising and even took up running (which I haven't done since Jr.High). I am 20 lbs lighter and looking forward to continuing this journey with the goal of completing a 10k this year. I love the all positive post and encouragement I see on sparkpeople.

Hi My name is Tracy
I belonged to this website for several years but have not taken advantage. I am 48 soon to turn 49 and am at my highest wt ever. I would like to lose my wt over the next year so I am healthy at 50 and happy with my wt. I have a 14 year old that keeps me very busy.
My biggest issue is food but since I put on this wt exercise hurts. I still do it

I can't wait to get off to a great start!! My name is Barb and I am 51 years old. I have joined a gym in the last year....for the first time ever! My weight is within my goal, but I want to be physically stronger, reduce my blood pressure and cholesterol. I also want to firm up and look & feel better in my clothes. HI everyone! I'm Amy and I live in South Carolina! I've been with spark now for about 6 years off and on. I've lost a little over 20 pounds since Sept of 11, and I just keep losing sight of the BIG picture. I find that when I'm around positive people I do GREAT but as soon as one bad apple starts saying...THEY CAN'T I find myself making excuses and reasons why I can't either! This challenge is the perfect way to keep me motivated...I LOVE some good competition!
Also I want to lose as much weight as I can before the end of the year bcuz me and my hubby are going to try to get pregnant again...and I DO NOT want to have another pregnancy where I'm OBESE again...it's too hard on me and not good for a baby! And with me turning 39 this year...my biological clock is doing some serious ticking lol..

I'm looking forward to a great challenge and meeting a lot of great ppl!!

Greetings from New Orleans! I'm KC and I haven't been to Sparkpeople in a while, but when I started my fitness journey in April of 2009, this was the first place that really motivated me. I fell in with a great aerobics class, and even took up Zumba, but my class schedule changed some things for me. I'm coming up on graduation, and my free classes will soon end.

The progress I have made in the last two years has been great motivation, but I need to work on finding ways to work out when the gym isn't across campus, and I don't have dance class 3Xs a week. I joined this challenge to push myself, and to meet a team of people with similar goals. So here goes!

Hi, y'all! I was writing my 2012 Spark Plan and couldn't design my movement portion after it disappeared because of long hours at my new job. Could not sleep tonight so stumbled on it while "playing" on SP.

Hello everyone! My name is Leah and I am a college student. I have a year and a half left for my undergraduate work. It's been a stressful couple years with moving out of my parents house, dealing with some injuries with my knee and back, getting diagnosed with Ciliacs disease and just getting all my school work done and keeping the grades up. In the last few years I gained about 50 pounds on top of already being overweight and its been going up and down over those years. I am finally ready to get my self back on track and start losing this weight for good! My boyfriend and I have been talking about getting married sometime in the next year and I want to look amazing on my wedding day and that is a huge motivator for me now! I am hoping that having all of you here for support will help me stay on track and keep at this and hopefully create some good habits from this!

Hi all - I am a very emotional eater and over the last 3 years I have eaten my way into 80 pounds over weight thanks to the stress of losing my job, losing my husband in a hunting accident and having my adult daughter use me as her grief punching bag, son went off on deployment - so 2009 and the beginning of 2010 were horrible years and I consoled myself with food. Well, 2011 has been great - new job that is going well, things are back to normal with all 4 of my kids - time to get me back in shape. I can't think of a better time than the new year to begin working on a new me. Looking forward to this challenge to kick it all off and begin a fantastic 2012!

My weight has been all over the place in the past 2 1/2 years. I had my 4th baby in Aug of 2009, got divorced, lost an 8 year long friendship in a very dramatic way, and moved my kids and I from a 4 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom apartment. After my divorce, I was down almost 100 lbs from my post baby weight. The past several months have been extraordinarily stressful and I have turned to food to comfort me. I've gained back 40 POUNDS in 9 months. I'm going to devote the next 6 months to getting myself back in shape and then I'm planning on entering into the wonderful world of dating again. Also, 6 months from now marks 10 years since my high school graduation. I want to look hot in the event we have a small reunion! :D I'm so ready to get control of my life again!

Hi, I'm Cyndi! I really need to start fresh, and the New Year is the perfect opportunity to do that. I have a little over 100 lbs to lose, so getting started on the right foot is really important to me right now. I am actually excited to get going, and can't wait to have a whole team of people to do this challenge with!
