Hello all!!!!! I am Alliana. I became active on this site last month with about 85lbs to loose (about the size of 3 of my 4 children combined) so far I have lost a very unexpected 15, but I am happy for it. Every time I look in the mirror, step on the scale, or feel the burn I am motivated to eat healthy and work out and push myself that much more.

Hi!! My name is Jackie :) I don't have a whole lot of weight to lose, but definitely enough (25-30lbs). I am brand new to this site, and so happy that I decided to join! I'm seeing so many benefits and motivation already, that I really feel this was a great choice for me!!

Good Morning and Happy Easter! My name is Sheila and I decided to rejoin Spark People for all the wonderful benefits it provides. I'd like to get better at navigating the site. Even though I have been a member before; I find all the wonderful information a little overwhelming. I seem to get so sidetracked and end up spending a LOT of time on here. I'd like to make it as streamlined as possible to get the most benefit from the site in the least amount of time so I can be "out there" moving my body and getting some exercise. I began "Eat to Live" last Monday and was going to wait a week to get weighed but think a Sunday will work better for me. Weight loss this morning was 5.2 pounds. The journey this time isn't strictly about weight loss, it's more about regaining good health but the excessive weight is a big detriment to my health. I love the trackers that SP provides but I think seeing other peoples committment weekly and being accountable to each other for a weigh in will be important for me. Have a great day everyone!!

HI I'm Hannah/Montana
I'm 23 from London (UK). I've always been a big girl and have always wanted to be slim but I'm very quick to decide that a diet is not working. I'm hoping to get down to my goal weight of around 140lbs - that means I have around 90lbs to lose although after 70 I will reassess this goal :)

When nights are cold and stars are few, I close my eyes and think of you. A silent hope, a silent tear, a silent wish that you were here

Changing the way I live.. forever :)

My name is Tara. I have PCOS with insulin resistance and thyroid issues. My weight history is as follows-
In high school and college I thought my size 12 to 14 jeans were fat.
On my wedding day (at 25) I weighed 186 size 16.
Prior to my first child I lost 20 pounds and weights 200 when I got pregnant.
After her my doctor thinks I was thrown into PCOS completely. I gained 2 dress sizes in one summer.
Prior to my second child I at my all time high 265. In order to get pregnant with I lost 30 pounds.
After my second child I was able to lose some but have now ended back up to 260. I started back on my metformin and have lost 8 pounds in the last two weeks.

I am looking for support from others that have PCOS.

Hello everyone, my name is Jonathan. My life always used to naturally keep me in shape, I played various sports year round, lifted weights religiously and was in the Army. A couple years after leaving the Army I looked at a picture and noticed something, I was fat. Over two years my weight had gone from about 220 to a high of 286. For a couple months I did some pretty crazy diets and lost some pretty substantial weight.

Last August a friend introduced me to SparkPeople. At first I hated it, but after going back and forth for awhile I started to stick with it. I found that tracking my calories and workouts was extremely valuable. The pounds began to come off, not because I was doing some weird diet, but due to gradual consistent changes to my diet.

From the time I have started (which is prior to Spark) I have lost 49 pounds, I have another 16 to go to hit my goal. It's in sight, but I'm going to have to fight for every pound. I love a challenge.

Hi, I am Lisa and I have finally hit the point where I am done "dieting" and am ready to make lasting lifestyle changes. Two years ago I lost 30 pounds (I needed to lose 70 to get to my goal), but gained 10 back. I have since lost 13 pounds and am now officially at my lowest weight in about 8 years. I know that I need community and accountability to make it to my final goal.

This time around, though, it is finally about so much more than just a desire to look better. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 14 years ago and had a relatively easy road for the first 12 years. I had the "wake-up call" that made me realize just how important it is to my health and to my family for me to make dietary and movement lifestyle changes.

Hi I'm Amy

I'm here hoping I can lose 40 lbs, I can't believe I'm up to 174, people don't believe me when I tell them my weight, but it's basically little love handles and tummy where it all goes so I figure if i can get that weight lost and tummy trimmed down I'll feel much better. I used to be 120 in high school and then a few years after i got to 130 which was good but somehow i kept getting higher and i don't seem to go higher than 174 luckily but i need to majorly slim down to feel good. So I've decided I need to stick with it and exercise at least 5 days a week and try to eat healthier. I don't eat much junk food, but I need to watch my calories as everything these days have so much calories. So goal is 133 lbs, but my short term is 150 lbs as losing just the 25 lbs would make me feel really good too. So since it's late tonit i'm starting my exercise routines as of tomorrow. Start off slow and progress to longer times.

I retired a couple of years ago and decided it was time to really start working on my health. When I retired I was above 230 pounds, but my all time high was 250. I currently weigh 175. I've lost 20 pounds since I joined SP in July 2012. I would like to get to 145, and then see how I am doing.

I have some serious health issues - diabetes and high blood pressure. When I am eating right and exercising, which is most of the time now, I can keep both of these issues in great control.

My short-term goal is to lose 6 pounds in the next month. We are going on a month-long vacation and I'd like to get to that new set of 10's.

Hello all! Trying to lose at least 20 pounds. Hoping I can find the motivation and support I need in here. I'm proud of myself for working out for almost 3 weeks straight and drinking my 8 to 10 glasses of water every day.

You've got to say, I think that if I keep working at this and want it badly enough I can have it. It's called perseverance.

Go Helen! You can do it...keep it up and keep yourself busy when you feel the urge to eat something you aren't supposed to. I always recommend focusing on people/conversation/learning something/doing something on your ToDo list to try to distract me. Just wanted to let you know that the label means nothing - keep moving!

Hello ladies! It's time for me to be accountable. I was doing fairly well doing this on my own, using Sparks' food and exercise trackers, but then I went on vacation and just can't get my butt moving again. So, if I have to weigh-in every week, I'd better have some progress I can report! I weighed myself last night and the scale said 198 pounds. I need to lose at least 40 pounds, and I'd like to have lost 10 pounds by the time school is out for the summer (end of May), so here goes!
Oh, and my name is Kristen and I'm from Juneau, Alaska! :)

Hi, I just found your team, I haven't yet to decide which day to officially weigh in yet. But I like the concept of this for my accountability.
I am maintaining but have a new personal goal to lose a few more pounds.

Hi,
I started Sparkpeople Oct.15, 2011 weighing 393. I had lost 37 pounds by Dec.25, 2011. That day I fell and injured myself. I'm already disabled so that didn't help. Took 6-7 months to heal up from that but by then I had stopped tracking and excercising. Good news is I was able to maintain my weight loss. Thank GOD. I started getting serious again on Feb.1, 2013 and have lost another 13 pounds. Now my total weight loss is 50.2 pounds. Now if I could just start excercising again (lack of motivation) I'll could really start losing again. I have 50 pound goals. But right now I would love to be under 300. Meet my next goal and I will be.

Hi! I'm, as always, trying to lose weight. I have decided to recommit today. I need to be good to myself and try to get healthier. I want to lose 23 pounds. I once almost weighed 200 lbs. I lost down to 140 lbs, but now have gained to 163 pounds. I have been at this weight for a couple of years now and I am having trouble getting back to a healthy 140 lbs. I am 5'4" tall and med. build, so I feel this is a good healthy weight for me.
I like running, yoga, and a new activity hula hooping. I just seem to find every excuse in the world not to exercise. I hope that I can get motivated to get to my "healthy" weight again.
Peace, and best wishes to all of you out there! I hope your weight loss journey goes well for you! emoticon

My name is Claudia, and I'm looking for support to restart my weight loss. In 2010 I lost 25 or so pounds over the summer, I went from 196 lbs to 173-ish lbs. I maintained that weight by playing tennis and watching what I ate. The weight began very very slowly coming back, then I went overboard last summer before heading off to college. I started college at around 195-197 lbs..then ended up weighing 207. I've used sparkpeople before and love using the nutrition and fitness tracker. It has helped me loose 1 lb ! So I am at 206 lbs. haha. One pound at a time. Im hoping to find motivational friends on this team.! Hope you all have a great journey!

You're Beautiful !

Hello. My name's Larisa. I have 2 part time jobs and take 8 credits a term at a community college. My challenge is time. One of my jobs (tutoring 12 hours a week) is completely sedentary. The other, hospice care (25 hours a week) is mostly standing. For school and studying, I am largely on my rear. It's going to get worse this fall, when nursing school starts. I'll drop the tutoring job, but I'll be in school full time. I am learning to NOT eating snacks while I study or in the middle of the night (when I feel sorry for myself because I'm the only one awake). I got a pedometer and have been squeezing in steps here and there, even if it's just laps up and down a short hallway. I've also been doing squats, lunges, calf raises, standing abductions and adductions when no one is looking. It appears to be working. One week I actually gained 2 pounds, but overall, I have lost 5 pounds in 5 weeks since I've joined Spark.

Edit - Ha! I thought I joined but didn't actually introduce myself because of lack of time. So I just introduced myself twice. Pardon me! :)

Hi, I am Aranisia :). I am Norwegian, and originally found SparkPeople in...2004, I think, or 2005. I lost quite a bit of weight back then, but have put all of it on again in the last few years.

My goal weight is somewhere between 82 and 85 kilos. This is far above what the BMI measurements says is a good weight for me, but I quite liked where I was at when I weighed 83 kilos in 2004 and so I've decided to aim for that weight.

Typically I work out 4-5 days a week...sometimes 6 days a week, too. My back gets crabby if I go more than 1 or 2 days without working out, and right now I am blessed in that I have lots of time to work out, so I have decided to make the most of it!

Hi, I am PrairieMimi. This week I lost 2 pounds. Currently, my weight is 158 and I want to weigh 150. My goal is to lose 1 pound a week. As a retiree, at 56, I am fortunate to be able to spend more time each day on improving my health and fitness level. Pre-retirement I lost 35 pounds ... so I am not new to the weight loss world of eating healthy. Once I reach and maintain 150 for a few weeks I will most likely try to lose an extra 10 pounds and achieve the weight of 140. That is an ideal weight I have in mind. My past success included weight goals in incremental stages. That kept it from seeming overwhelming and I was able to reward myself along the journey.

"We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows, like a shadow that never leaves." ~ Buddha

Hi! I'm Debbie and I lost 72 pounds 5 years ago to reach my goal. Since then I've gained back over 40 pounds and have had a terrible time getting going again. I've been so mad at myself for blowing it after all that hard work. I'm finally feeling motivated again and lost 5 pounds this week! (after gaining the last few Weeks and not recording it) I've started running more and going to my kickboxing gym twice a week. It feels good and now I just have to keep going.Reading others' stories on Spark helps a lot.

Hi everyone! My name is Lorri and I just recently joined SparkPeople and today this Team :) I have been on my weight loss journey since Sept. 6, 2012 (weighed in at 211) today I weigh 163 :), my goal weight is 145 preferably by June 1, 2013, which is the day I will be graduating college with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. Pretty big accomplishment for a 44 year old mom of 4 adult children and a 19 month old grandson :). I joined SparkPeople to get that added help and support, and to be able to have someone else besides myself and husband to have accountability to. I am looking forward to getting to chat with all of you.

I would really like to get one of those cute weight trackers on the bottom of ya'lls posts, where do you get them from?

Hello - once again I am starting again. Went to UK in January and gained 10 lbs and went over the dreaded 200 lb mark. Now down to 196.6 lbs so on the way back but frustrated that I am going over "old" ground. In the short term, I just want to get under 190 lbs as soon as possible.

Hello. I have a goal date by which I'd like to be a size smaller... and of course, I'd like to keep the weight off.

The goal is an interview, April 8th. I joined a month and a few days ago and have lost 5 pounds, which isn't fast enough progress to get me there so I figure if I HAVE to weigh in (one week I did not because I KNEW I was going to blow it on a celebratory weekend), I'd do better.

The issue for me is job competition. I am significantly older than my fellow nursing students. There is no longer a nursing shortage, at least not where I live, and certainly not for new grads. I don't want to be the "old, out of shape" one. I want to look and feel good.

Hello my name is Angela! I joined SP this week and because I want to change things about my life especially my weight. I weighed myself yesterday and I weighed 289 pounds and that is too much for me. As a mother of 2 children ages 9 & 13 I realize I need to get rid of this weight so I can be healthy and continue to watch my children grow up (medically anyway).

Hi! My name is Sarah! I started sparkpeople on December 16th and have since lost nearly 10 pounds. I weighed in at 183 then and weigh 174 now and I am 5'6. But i have lost an inch off my waist in the past few weeks! I have a 32 inch waist! :D (back when I weighed 135 pounds I had a 28 inch waist!) So as you can see I am not far off from how I was way back when before 2008 and i started on all the medications I am on. I have thyroid problems and am on other medications to treat mental illness as well and they can cause weight gain but don't really make a difference to my weight! I stopped taking my antidepressant back in May of last year and then had to go back on it but gained nearly thirty pounds from May '12 to October '12! :( Needless to say I am anxious to lose it again! I need to get back on track and be held accountable for my food and fitness and what I do or don't do so that is what I am hoping to gain from this forum! Thanks for reading this long winjded story and I am looking forward to weighing in each week and hopefully losing more weight!

Hi everyone, i started using sp in january. I still am not to familiar with every feature on this site, lol im barley learning how to post. So to introduce myself a bit.... I started changing my habits 16 months ago. At that time i weighed 235 + pounds. I quite smoking, started excersizing and changing my eating habits. It has been up and down progress, but today i am happy to say i weigh in at 169 lbs. My health, attitude and relationships have all improved drastically. and i am now working on losing my final 20-25 pounds.
