Hi everyone,
I am Brenda
Occupation -Stay at home mom with 2 teenage boys one is in college in Utah and the other is going off to college this fall.
Hobbies-Love to play hockey and walking
Why SparkPeople? I happen to come across it when I was looking for more information about exercise and weight lose. It's free so decided to try it and it's awesome.
Short term goals- to lose weight the healthy way, little bit at a time.
Long term goal- to be at 155 lbs. on my birthday June 15, 2012.

Welcome to the team I joined back on Valentines Day, We are practically neighbors, I am outside of Asheville in NC. I however am in my 40's and have a son and a step daughter. in there teens. My husband is attempting to get on board with me, but we will see.

I also love to cook and experiment with all kinds of flavors and have numerous different cookbooks to work from, so that is a help.

Hello Everyone:

I signed up for Spark People Feb 12-18, but I'm just now getting started. There is so much to see and learn! So I'm a newer 'newbie' then some of that were motivated to get started before me!

A little about myself, I am 29 years old. I got married last June, 4th. My husband and I are both trying to live a healthier lifestyle. We live in Columbia, South Carolina. We don't have any children yet, but we have a cairn terrier named Bella (looks just like Toto!) and a fluffy fat cat named Hailey. I am a college English professor and I love teaching people how to read and write. (Don't worry about your grammar, I promise I'm not judging you and you will often find me making mistakes too! LOL) Reading and writing are my two favorite pastimes.

I also love, love, love to cook! I love to try new recipes and take pictures of the outcome. My husband loves for me to test them out on him. (Or at least he pretends he does LOL) The problem is they things I know how to cook (think fried, think southern, think drenched in gravy, think simmered in fat back, think covered in cheese) are contributing to our weight gain and sluggishness, so I hope to learn new recipes that are healthy for us, which from looking around at the website I am going to be in recipe heaven!

nice to meet you have not had the pleasure of hearing from anyone else in this group. I as well plan on having at least 50 gone by the end of the year would like for more but i will be happy with 50. Ultimate goal is about 95. I have found some great folks on Spark. Lots of good info as well. If you ever want to chat please feel free I need all the help I can get as well! I'm using SP on my iPad 2. It's been a great companion since I started my 60-day weight loss plan 5 days ago. Since getting back on red meat (I abstained for 3-years) and getting injured for the second time, I've gained close to 10 kilos. I had a minor tear on my MCL and hamstring, and badly sprained ankle at a futsal aka indoor soccer match which sidelined me for 3-4 months. When I returned and started playing in a minor soccer league, I pulled my hamstring.

While I'm not 100% I play futsal weekly, and the current soccer league will last the next 3-4 months. Started playing golf so I'm at the driving range once a week.

I'm currently on a low carb diet, so all advice and recommendations are welcome!

I track my progress everyday on my food intake, exercise, body measurements (body fat, weight, muscle mass, water). Comment on http://vernieman.posterous.com

Why Spark? I need something to help me balance my meals and keep track of everything I do.
What are your short term goals? Lose at least 10 lbs March 1st
What are your long term goals? I would love to loose at least 70 pounds. But my main goal is to stick with it and stay motivated. I tend to do well and then loose site. I get stressed i eat. I packed my lunch day two and worked well so far.
