Hi everyone! I was just diagnosed with PCOS about a year ago. I was to five doctors before finally someone diagnosed me! Just shows you need to keep searching until you find one who will do the testing. I think what made my case so uncertain to some is I am not considered overweight, and my insulin is fine. I was put on clomid for awhile and I got pregnant once but miscarried about a week later. While, my I am not ttc at the moment, I do want to learn as much about PCOS as I can so that I can make the correct life changes. Currently, I am back in school to become a nurse with the hopes of working in pediatrics so I have about three years before we start trying again. I know that making changes NOW will help me later.

Thank you everyone for your support and I will try and be the best support I can be to you!

Hey Everyone! I was diagnosed a few months ago, at first I was So happy to have a reason for all these messed up things happening to me (nasty chin hair, the hair on my head that I want falling out in clumps, eating right and still gaining weight and most of all the headaches that have plagued me since I was 5) but once I realized it was a life long sucky problem I wasnt so happy anymore. Im on Metformin now because my cycle had stopped which is making my migraines worse...so much for managable huh? Im here because I really need support and a good push from people who understand how hard this is! Ive tried so many times to loose weight but this time I just wanna gain health! My baby sister is Graduating College in May and I want to be able to Enjoy my time celebrating with her!! Id like to drop atleast 15lbs for the party...hopefully that will give me a little wiggle room not only in my dress but in my life!!!
Jenn!

I got diagnosed with PCOS 3 years ago when my husband and I were TTC and my periods stopped, but I wasn't pregnant. I picked up a lot of weight in my later teens, but the doctors completely ignored symptoms (missing periods, sudden weight gain) and just told me "diet and exercise" with no actual guidance.

Now, I'm on about 1500-calories/day, lots of extra walking, and metformin twice daily. I have lost 34lbs from my non-pregnancy high. My hubby and I are TTC our 2nd child now (kidlet #1 will be 2 in October) and I'm hoping I can keep my weight and health in check better this time around. I never, ever, EVER wanna see 260 on the scale again! (hospital admission weight when my son was born)

There were several things that hindered me from taking care of myself first. I was one of my dad's caregivers and he recently passed away April 15th. I really didn't know what to do anymore. I work night shift at a police dept dispatching and went to school in the mornings at UHD. The gym not so much... but I'm back! I used to be fit back in 2009 and now I'm taking my life back. A sergeant from work had told me about SparkPeople and decided to try it out. I have PCOS, so it's hard to lose weight and I'm gaining more energy from using Spark by Advocare. I've lost 3% body fat!

I am also the current team leader for the Insulin Resistance team. A little about me: I'm a 30 something mom with a BA in Psychology. I didn't start gaining a lot of weight until my early 20's when my Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOS) came to an ugly head. At that time I gained about 80 lbs. in one year! Most doctors weren't familiar with PCOS or Insulin Resistance back then so I wasn't actually diagnosed with PCOS until about 8 years ago and with IR until about 4 years ago.I am currently taking 2000-2500 mg of Metformin per day. I hope to be supportive to you all and that we can fight this disease together! Please let me know what I can do to help any of you on this journey with a disease that is so confusing. emoticon emoticon
