you have to watch...diabetes complications are much worse than the disease itself..metformin is a good start and the added benifit that it doesn,t cause weight gain. several years ago i decided to do without the pills and started with insulin..it,s one shot a day and i am finished..diabetes takes a lot of work...when i started 13 years ago i was very heavy and went on a diet and lost 20 plus lbs which i have kept up until now and it is creeping back and i have to do something about it quick.. i love to exercise and that keeps my sugars down all these years but of course i also like to eat.

Hi I am 46 and recently been diagnosed with type II Diabetes. I also have high blood pressure. I have been running from Diabetes for years and it finally caught up with me. My DR didn't realize how bad it was till I told her that I have numbness in my feet and put me on Metformin right away. I have to be honest in saying that when I found out a week ago I cried all day. I didn't even know where to start so I bought "The Spark" book at least I have a starting point now. This might sound kind of silly but I need help and lots of encouragement.
