I signed up for Race for Life in the UK, a 5K in aid of Cancer Research, July 17th, so plenty of time to get right into it.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Signed up for my first race of the season for this Saturday, March 12th. Now they are predicting snow for our area for tonight and tomorrow. Hope the storm clears out by Saturday morning. I really want to run this race but am not looking forward to a slippery course.

I'm running the Shamrock Shuffle in Chicago on April 10th. It is the world's largest 8K, with 40,000 runners. Registration closed two months prior to the race. The energy running with such a large number of runners is contagious.

Yesterday I mailed in the registration for my first 5k. The race is in Southern NJ. Many of my friends are doing it, some also for the first time. I began running in August last year, but haven't done much over the winter because of the weather (my treadmill is broken and trying to get fixed now for 4 months!). I can't wait to get back outside this week to run...I miss it (Never would have thought those words would be heard from me emoticon .)

Yes, I did sign up for a 5K run, not so much a race, on April 30 which is after this challenge but that's okay. I plan to use this challenge to prepare me for that event where I hopefully will come in at 30 minutes or less--we'll see!

Oh no!!! I hope it doesn't get cancelled for you, but if it does, use the time to keep practicing!!! Keep us posted to if you get to race or not!! Last year for our 5k it wasn't raining when we got there but no sooner did we go 1 block and down came the rain.. it was awful, but they kept it going, I made the mistake of wearing jeans & a tee shirt, talk about weighing me down ugh! LOL

Hugs!

looks like my first 5k is probably going to be rescheduled due to bad weather. Theyve sent out a warning email that since the forecast is a light dusting of snow and some rain on sunday - they will send a message out saturday evening regarding the status of the race.

Guess Mother Nature knew I probably needed a little more prep time. emoticon

Actually Im looking forward to it so if mother nature cooperates the race is on.,

Stay tuned.............. todday its pouring outside so I think Im heading to the gym to do some of my workout on the treadmill. I dont like running inside but I have no choice today. I have figured out running in cold weather but dont think Id like running outside in the rain although I do see some diehards doing it. emoticon

I completed the Frozen Foot 5K at the CU Boulder Campus today. This was a small race to support the Triathlon Group of the college. It was a fun race that traveled through the campus - the start was a little disorganized but, all in all it was a fun race and a great way to start the day. This team is helping me keep training as I have several half marathons scheduled this year and I don't want to get lazy. My next race is a 7K on March 13th in downtown Denver - The Runnin' of the Green - definitely a fun race - my friends and I get crazy and dress up for this one - isn't everybody Irish around St Patty's Day? LOL! emoticon emoticon emoticon and emoticon some more - it's all good!

The first Philadelphia Phillies Charities 5k on March 26. The 5k ends with a cool down lap around the bases and you get your photo taken at home plate. Then they open part of the park for the after-race celebration! (Complete with cheesesteak concession stands - I will be avoiding those.) For a $32 registration fee, I get a t-shirt (that could easily be $30 right there normally!), the race, the party afterwards, the awesome photo, and daytime tickets to an upcoming game.
