This Team appears somewhat inactive, but why not. I am not new to Spark, but I have become active again. We just moved to the UAE and I have become quite motivated regarding health. Hope all are well!

I am Bell and hope to be in the UAE in the next few months. I am over 50 and working on losing and maintaining my weight. I want to become more active physically and join some groups that do fun things. I love to bowl, walk, and work out in a gym. Hope to see you all soon.

Hi Folks, my name is Linda and I'm a very active 61 yr old lady who enjoys new challenges. A few days ago I found a 3 mile power walk on youtube but don't know how to calculate how many calories when completed. Can anyone advise how you determine (if the program doesn't tell you)? Happy to be out of the summer and back into the cooler months!

I'm Izzybella. I'm a 23-year-old housewife. We have a dog named Lucy. We moved to Dubai (and the Marina area) in April and I've been piling on the weight like nobody's business ever since!

I'm currently a UK size 18, which is frustrating as I've never ever been above a 14 before. I would fluctuate between 12-14 constantly. My BMI is now officially over "overweight" and I'm officially obese. Say it ain't so!

Time to do something about it! Let's make this group active!

Put my fitness activities on hold while I focussed on unpacking boxes--still unpacking after a month--had two sets of company during that time as well! Noticed I'm starting to creak and my energy level is plummeting. I'm 61 years old and thought the new book, The Spark Solution, might be a good motivator in getting back on the healthy track. I went to school for American Sign Language Interpreter so as of now I am volunteering at Kalimati Speech Therapy center. I am also studying for the ACE personal trainer and fitness instructor test. I am hoping to meet some fitness people for meet-ups to do activities or just hang out! I am married, 5.5 yrs now; we have a 3yr old as well. Hi, Marabou! I'm in AD, too. Do you belong to a club? Do you run?

I run in my neighborhood (KCA) and belong to ADCC. They have great teachers and really good classes.

Haddins also has some interesting looking classes. My kid does their athletics class, and they have desert challenge-type activities sometimes.

There are several races coming up, and the Terry Fox Run is in February, too. So there are definitely things to do here, especially at this time of the year!

My name is Kasey, I am a married mother of 3 children aged 8.5, 3.5 and 19 months. I am a Canadian living in Beautiful British Columbia! I am moving to the UAE this summer coming up. I had moved there in Feb for 4.5 months but came back here for a little bit longer. I am married to an Emirati husband and we have a house in Al Ain...but we will most likely settle in Abu Dhabi when we get back which will be nice!

You can go to this link and scroll down to the "challenges" section and click on "create a spark page" if you are interested in starting one. It is a great way to let people know more about you, set your goals, and people can easily leave comments to just say 'hi' and give support and encouragement.

You've joined at the right time!! We just started this group and we are all just getting to know each other as well!! I just had a walk this morning with PILLOWFOOL - Thank you so much Kristen!! I hope we can all get to meet each other in person before long!

To take yourself off a team, scroll to the bottom of the team page and there is a button for "Leave this Team" Click on that and voila !! Don't feel bad about taking a while to get used to everything in Spark - we all did too! Once you get the hang of the basics, it starts to flow very well!! Hang in there - it's worth it!!

Thank you Peggiet, you are really helpful. Tried and I think I discovered that maybe I don't have a page? Gosh I'm really useless at this. Will have to sit down properly and go right through the site to make sure I understand how it works. The sooner the better as at this rate I'll be spending all my time trying to find my way round the website and have no time to exercise and plan my meals!! lol.
So tonight I'll try to set up this page.
ps do you know how I take myselff off a group? I selected too many and my inbox is bursting.

Hi again!! I still can't see you and I think I know what the problem is. At the top of your Spark Page, click on "Edit My SparkPage". At the top right side there is a list of "More Options".

The first one is "Only allow my Sparkfriends to see my page". You can decide whether to have everyone able to see you or just those you add as friends, but for now I would suggest leaving this with no check mark.

The next one is "Turn My Page Offline". Make sure that there is no check mark beside it.

Make sure that you do have a check mark beside "Allow comments on My Page". The rest is all optional.

Then scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on "Save Changes". That should get you visible!!

joined Sparkpeople a few days ago. Great to see there are members here in the UAE. Still getting to grips with how to use the site so a bit bewildered at the moment. Will give it a go though, trying all the various bits and pieces you can do. Will investigate the local challenges too as I'm really keen to reach my goal.
