Hi, i'm Rhonda from Oregon. I'm new to the team but have been sparkin now for over a year. Thanks for the warm welcome and looking forward to visiting the threads. My DH and I have our 4500 sq ft house for sale and will be substantially downsizing so I need to get rid of a lot of stuff and do some major organization. This will be challenging and a lot of work so thanks for the help. Have a wonderful week.

Hi, I'm Christa. My health goal is to lose about 15 lbs and to exercise. My organizational goal is to get and stay organized. I'm great at getting my living area organized temporarily, but fail miserably at staying organized. I know where everything lives, but things spend a lot of time visiting other places.

Good Day to you! I'm Melissa and have been with SparkPeople since Jan 2010. I've got some pretty good organizational skills but this is a topic I just love and am always open to new ideas!

emoticon Hello everyone!
I just joined cause I'm ready for additional challenges outside of weight/fitness. I used to be a very organzied person and lately I feel like I've lost many of my good habits! I simply don't have a lot of time and getting things organized/simplified typically is at the bottom of my list. I hope to learn some tips and get encouragement from this group to give me that needed push.
Take care all!

I'm trying to get my house organized and discard some of the extra that just seems to keep accumulating. Thought this team might help me in my journey to a more organized life.

Hi Trina,
I had to smile when I saw that you had bought the same book twice I have done that before also. Just take small steps...clean one drawer at a time, get rid of one thing a day...that way it is not too overwhelming and you will keep it up. It becomes another good habit!

Hi, I am a married Mom of five and never have time to organize..... until I broke my ankle. I have been out of work and bored so I pulled a chair up to every closet etc.. and cleaned and sorted most of it out.(Still have to tackle the garage) I have 20 garbage bags full of stuff to donate. I just got my cast off this week and will be going back to work soon... so my issue will be how do I keep it up? I think the biggest thing that would be helpful is putting things back in the right place. Everyone just piles things here and there and it ends up being a mess and no one can find anything. Organization has got to be the key!! emoticon

I'm Sarah and I'm a married mama of 1-my house has been under rennovations for 2 years now so it is a mess. As work is done in one room, everything from it gets shoved into another room. Our son's room didn't get finished until this week so he'd been in our room his first 6 months and our room is now a disaster zone! I also have a packrat family that are always trying to give things to me so I have tons of stuff that just needs to get hauled away to Goodwill. I'm slowly gaining control by just making sure at least 1 donation a week goes, and being honest with myself "When was the last time I used this?" "Does this fit RIGHT NOW?" "Do I even like this?"

Hi everyone! My name is Ana, and my house is a MESS. I've never been good at organizing, and being raised by packrats didn't help either. Now as a full time student with lots of pets, a husband, and my 18 year old brother living with us...it's insane, i'll just leave it at that. I need motivation and helpful strategies to get this place in order before i lose my mind!

Wow, Cameo....Love your post and wow on the kids and organization. lol
I'm Sherry, I many moons ago was very organized and had a place for everything. It really was great having things that way. I am on a mission to slowly get back to that.
I work full time many hours, school full time, recently purchased my home on my own. I have two grown boys 25 & 21, 21 still lives at home and very busy himself. I have a wonderful supportive boyfriend with a busy life, as well. So, many people and activities in my life.
BUT organization is important to reduce the overwhelmed feeling and loose weight to become my healthiest!

Hi I'm Leilani.
Like most of everyone here. I simply don't have time. I work f/t and am a f/t student. Always on the go, I feel that when I doon't stay on track I can't keep up with my apartment either.
Ive noticed there is a relationship there between how clean my place is and how I'm doing with both my diet/exercise.

Hi everyone! I'm Jessica, an engaged stay at home Mommy of 2. I'm also a full time student, which makes it challenging to keep everything in order. Even though I hate paper/mail build up, I haven't found the time to get it done. I've recently started to clean out my cabinets, closets and dresser drawers so when I seen this group I had to join! Been with SparkPeople for a little over a year, but just started over a few days ago;) Looking forward to getting new ideas on how to make the most of my space!

Hello from Alaska. ~ I think that Organization has become my hobby. We've had to move alot in the past 27 yrs. (spouse's job) & each time we "weed out" the clutter. In two weeks, we will do a "self move" to our house (same town, had a renter in it). My goal is to just OWN what we use. For the past eight months we've had boxes of items stored in the attic here & I haven't a clue what's in them. Obviously, I don't miss the items or use them. They need to go. I don't want to be tied down by "things" so am headed to becoming a minimalist. Family-wise we like to go out and do things (sports, walks, hikes, gardening, traveling, socializing...). Taking care of unnecessary items is not important. So the GOAL is to decide what is needed, organize it, and what is not needed, donate it. Then teach all household members (a hard part) to keep stuff in order, so they can find clothing, sport uniform items when needed.

P.S. We have six children, four still at home (ages 14 down to 5).

Hi everyone!
I'm Phyllis and have been a member of SP for a few months now. I always have considered myself fairly organized, but there is always room for improvement, right?? I have quite a few spots that need work--my pantry, closets, craft room and my closet. I am inthe process of organizing 4 huge cardboard boxes of pictures from my Mom. (Putting them in chronological order and labeling them-- it's a HUGE job!!)
I look forward to learning some new tips, and getting motivated to work on my problem areas!!

Hello everyone,
I have been in SP for a couple of months.
I am doing pretty well in keeping track of my exercising and eating habits.
Now I need to focus on cleaning up my home and organizing the rest of my life.
I used to be really organized when I was younger...always cleaning my bedroom and keeping things neat. That was before I got married and had 5 kids. Four of them currently live at home and it is hard to keep everyone in line and organized.
We have a small home and so not a lot of space or places to put our "stuff". Cleaning takes a back seat to busyness around here. In other words, I do not like housecleaning. But I still want to be organized!
Help! I could use some suggestions and guidance in this area of my life and the lives of my family.

Hi Everyone. I am new to this team but not new to Sparkpeople. I am 46 and married. I have 3 sons who are involved in everything imaginable. My husband and I own a restaurant and I went back to school to get my teaching certificate. I just finished 12 weeks of student teaching and my house has gotten worse than ever. I am determined to remove the clutter for good before I get a full time job. If not I will be struggling forever.

Hi, everyone! I'm Trina. I'm 36, and I've been overweight since I was ten. I've been disorganized even longer. I've figured out my weight loss goals, but my organization goals are a little more vague. It wasn't until I saw that I'd bought two copies of the same organize-your-life book that I realized just how cluttered my life really is, and I'm here to look for encouragement and ideas.

Welcome! How interesting that you are looking to apply the principles you've learned in organization to your weight loss; I'm doing the opposite! I'm sure you will do well, and discover a lot of things about yourself in the process. I really love how the principles cross over.

All the best to you! emoticon

Hi All, I'm a managing editor for a bunch of business magazines--being organized is practically my job! I could watch back-to-back episodes of shows like Clean Sweep for hours. I want to learn to apply that discipline (and enjoyment!) to my weight loss journey now, and hopefully make some like-minded friends in the process. I'm not new to spark people, but I am new to the community message boards and groups--any suggestions for making friends and engrossing myself in this process would be much appreciated!

Hi everyone,
It's nice to find this group! I'm a newlywed and I grew up in a really, really disorganized house. We were pretty good about organizing schedules/calendars, but not space - everything was always messy. Now that I'm married and sharing my living space with another person, it's more important than ever for me to learn some of those organizational skills I don't have yet, and establish habits that will make our home a happy, livable, non-guilt-inducing place!

So happy to find this group! I couldn't be joining at a better time because I am an Army wife about to move my family for the third time since 2006, and I'm really trying hard to purge lots of un-necessary and excessive "stuff"! Would love to get super-organized in the next month so I can be ready to relocate with a lot less stress! Having 2 kids under the age of three is hard enough without being surrounded by mess.

Hi, I'm Sarah. I consider myself a disorganized perfectionist. Hi everyone! I'm Julie, I'm 46, married and have an 18 year old son. I'm working on decluttering my body of these excess pounds, and would LOVE a decluttered home to go along with it.

I'm looking forward to getting my home organized-I find that clutter causes me so much anxiety. I think a decluttered home would give me more peace and happiness. And we could all use more of those things.

Good Sunday Morning!!
I have been with Spark for a couple of years, with little success. Not Spark's fault though. emoticon

I used to be organized, and I'm not sure what happened, but its no longer one of my strong traits. Time to change that.

I'm Kimberly, 50 from the suburbs outside of Chicago. I plan on taking the month of March to start the organizational process. I believe that a cluttered house creates a cluttered mind. Hope to shed a few pounds in the process, bonus!!

Hi everyone! i've been on spark for awhile now, and not succeeding, but now i've got just under 2 years to focus on me, and what i need to do. i'm part of a military family. my husband, my 2yr old, and i are chillen out over in korea! so lots of sights to see, and lots of walking! of course with moving comes unpacking boxes, but i haven't gotten there yet, since they arn't here yet! so its my goal to organize the stuff we had to buy to make it until our stuff arrives...then successfully merge our stuff into an organized home once it arrives!

Good morning everyone!I discovered Spark People on January 30. I was sitting at the hair salon, relaxing and reading a magazine. There was a great article about a woman and her experience with Spark People. When I got home I checked it out and here I am. With my traveling life style due to my job I have gotten lazy about keeping to a good routine. Too many restaurants! This will help keep me focused. I look forward to the structure, guidance and meeting other Spark People. I have been living in my house for almost 6 years and there are still unpacked boxes!

Hi I'm Shannon. I'm moving in a few weeks and realized i have way too much stuff, so I'm in the process of throwing things out. I'm just amazed at how much one person can accumulate without realizing it. My boyfriend and i are cleaning out his grandmothers house, and she kept everything! I certainly don't want to be in that situation when I'm older.

Hi! I am a 51 year old mother of 3 teen agers,a husband and a 91 year old MIL. I have the most problem with paper. I hate dealing with it. I pay most of my bills online and have them sent online also. It is a constant struggle with me because I HATE IT! I hope I can get some tips to make it easier.

Hi! I've been with SP a while but have not been real active. In addition to needing drop a lot of pounds, I need to declutter! I have 3 kids under the age of 10, a husband, a dog, a cat and we're in the midst of remodeling our house. It's been a hectic 2 years and there is much more to go as most of the work is being done by DH.

The thing I have the most trouble taming is the paper tiger! Hopefully, I will get lots of good ideas for organizing all of the paper that comes into the house. emoticon

Hi everyone! I'm a 56 yr young single woman who is attempting to declutter as I pack to move. I will be listing my home in a month or two and hopefully move by the summer. I have so much stuff. I need to get everything into a 24' trailer or smaller. I will be moving into a smaller place.

I have gotten rid of a lot of stuff and hopefully
will get rid of a lot more before I move but I am running out of time. I will make it happen.

Then when I do move into my new home I want to be organized and not have as much stuff around. I won't have a garage or storage units as I do now.

Wish me luck!

ps: I am going to watch the last episode of Hoarders which always gets me motivated and then start getting ready for a yard sale tomorrow which I can attempt to have since it will be without weather tomorrow and in the 50's. I can do it!

Hello! My name is Andrea (35). I love to be organized but then life seems to happen and things tend to get out of control especially with a 2 year old and a 9 month old. When my home is disorganized other things begin to go. This time around I am trying to first organize meals and exercise and hope that affects the rest. So far this has been a big turn in the right direction; hopefully I can keep up with my goals.

Hello. My name is Ann and I am retired and live in an over 55 community with DH and puppy Joey.

I am very organized but in a casual way. I like being able to put my hands on anything within a few minutes but I am absolutely not the super organized type who keeps everything in its place all the time. I tend to organize my closets, drawers, files, and storage areas a few times a year. I just use things and when any one area gets too cluttered or disorganized for me, I reorganize it.

One of my best moments was when DH asked me for a slim "yearbook" type that he received one summer during college while he was doing ROTC in Ohio. Now DH is retired so that was a long time ago and we didn't get married until he was 60. But I had it in his hands in under 5 minutes.

Hi all. I am Teri(24) and I am in the Air Force. I love to be organized but sometimes my house starts to slip into craziness. I should be moving to Germany sometime this year with my soon to be husband who is also in the AF!

I have always been uber organized in the workplace, but at home I live on more of an organization roller coaster. It is either really clean or really messy. When it is messy, I cannot concentrate. I tend to not exercise as much, I eat out or do frozen dinners, I don't sleep as well. When it clean and decluttered at home, I look forward to exercising and I tend to make most meals from scratch and just feel so much more peaceful. I would love to just make it a consistent thing to have a clean, decluttered home.

Hi all:

I am an empty nester with a lot of stuff. I need to scale down to getting my stuff in order.
I'd hate to have to move. I don't know what I would do with all the stuff that I have accumulated over the years. Hopefully I can get organized to the point of enjoying some of the stuff and giving my children some of the stuff.
I am married with 3 adult children who are also married. I still have a lot of their stuff.
Maybe somebody can help me to get organized.

Gayle

Hi all my name is Crystal, thought this would be a fun, and helpful team to join. I have been with SP for about 2 years, have not really been consistent, until now, and I am trying to make it a habit. They say constantly doing something that eventually just becomes a habit. I am not doing bad on my diet, yes I have messed up, but I did not quit, and honestly that is more important to me. I hope just eating right will help my physical health and life, and loose weight in return. Anyways, love to talk, so I better cut this short, Hi all.
