Hi, I'm Kelly - I did join SP 8/27/10, but just joined the team - I'm still getting the hang of SP. Originally joined b/c I wanted to track calories better and get motivation. I'm amazed at how much motivation is here!!!

My weight loss journey started at the beginning of May 2010. I've lost 52lbs so far, but have 28lbs more to go to reach my goal. Once I get there, I might go for more? But one thing at a time!

I live in Maryland, widowed last year w/2 small kids. I don't want them to be orphans, so I knew I had to make a change and get healthy. So I'm motivated by my kids and admittedly, also by the numbers on the scale and the size of my clothes.

So here's to success and supporting one another!

Hi all!

I've been on here once or twice in the past, but I didn't have a healthy idea about how to lose weight before now. I had to learn the hard way that crash diets and neglecting yourself are the wrong way to go.

I've made a lot of changes in my life since and I have been slowly incorporating a healthier lifestyle. I quit smoking recently and I have noticed that eating better actually helps with the motivation to stay smoke free.

I am looking for a lifestyle change and new (healthier) habits. I will make sure to persevere this time and not jump off the bandwagon again when I encounter a bump in the road. I have educated myself and am more than willing to take my time with this.

Hi, I'm lillielil. I'm 28, live just outside of DC, married, one dog, work in HR at an international development consulting firm, and can't fit into my pants.

I want to develop some healthy habits about eating and being conscious of my body. I avoided the scale for a long time because I've had some bad, obsessive, not-eating-ever type experiences with it in the past, but I'm willing to give it another shot and try to be friends with it. Also, I want to fit into my pants again. I want to lose weight and get in shape so that I can tire the dog out, and go backpacking, and have enough energy to play with my future-kids some day.

Nice to meet you all! I've loved reading these introductions.

My name is Kat, and I too have been on Sparkpeople before. For those who have just discovered it, SP is really a great site, as you can see by how many of us decided to return! I initially lost about 30 pounds here a couple years ago, and after trying other sites I decided the guidance and camaraderie here is what works best for me. I gained almost 20lbs back, so now it is time to get it together! I live in Oregon, and want to enjoy the beautiful trails and wilderness here as much as possible, but need to be in good shape to make that happen!

Hi everyone,
My name is Jenn and I am from New England. My whole life I have had horrendous self-esteem. I am an emotional eater and have had enough. I want to lose about 150lbs to not only be healthy, but also because it appears I will soon be in the dating pool and I want to attract a man.
I work full time and I am a full time grad student, so my biggest obstacle is finding healthy filling foods that I can nosh on throughout the day because I am gone from 7:30am until 11pm 4 nights a week.

Hi everyone! I've gotten back in the right mindset to do this all over again. A few years ago I lost 80-90 lbs, and now I've gained almost all of it back. I want to lose 120 now, and I'm dead serious. I've been fat too long. I used to play sports and somehow managed to keep myself in decent shape for my size...so that's the good news. I started back on the elliptical and counting calories yesterday and WILL lose all the weight I need to in a year's time. Best of luck to all! Let's stay motivated and change our lives!

I'm from Southampton, just off the South Coast of England where the weather is eternally miserable haha. Being in a healthy BMI or at least not obese or morbidly obese is very important to me, and to be honest I'm so fed up of living such a sedentary lifestyle.. Hey Everyone! I'm Danielle, I'm from Northeast Ohio. I have two kids and a stepdaughter.

My goal is to loose about 35lbs. I started loosing weight a few months ago and got a bit sidetracked. I had lost 13lbs in about 3-4 weeks. Hi, I'm Maddie. I just joined (right now at 1:42 am!) because I can feel myself getting more and more unhealthy. I started my first real job in February and I was doing okay at first with exercising and eating well, but it's gone downhill fast! I've gained thirteen pounds in six months, I can't remember the last time I went running and tonight I ate Reese's and Pepsi for dinner! HELP!! emoticon I've been thinking about how to live more healthily for a while and I just decided tonight to DO something about it instead of just thinking about it!

Hi I'm KT. I live in the northeast. I have a desk job that I love but it has made me less active. I just hit the highest weight of my life and I want to stop before I gain more. My biggest challenge is emotional eating. I eat mostly healthy otherwise, so if I can stop the binge eating and exercise more things should fall into place. I've tried SP before but was too lazy to follow through with it. I'm glad to be here again...welcome everybody!! emoticon

I'm Joy... i'm irritated with myself. I swore up and down i'd never let myself get over 20 lbs overweight.. then 30.. then 40.
Here I am nearly 100 lbs (UGH!) over my 'personal best" weight (15 years ago) and about 70 lbs from where I think i would look REALLY great at right now... and enough is enough.

I'm goign to have to take this one day at a time.

I'm restarting SP today...

my biggest two challenges are:

1. I don't eat enough at times (i.e. breakfast..) and then i get home at 3 or 4 from work and just eat all night.

2. I don't have enough self-control to stop sometimes. Today.. i went to Olive Garden. i was good and got soup/salad with minestrone soup (i knew from WW years ago that it was healthy and high in fiber) Then i went and sabotaged myself with eating 3 breadsticks. WTH. I wish I would feel satisfied with 1/2.

On my Spark Page there is a longer "about me", the short story goes something like this ...

History:
Until I was 15, I never broke 200 lbs. My parents convinced me, at 6' 1" and 200 lbs, I was very obese. Now it's a self fulfilled prophecy. When I first scaled 280, I just cried. I couldn't believe I let myself go that far. Today I guestimate my weight to be approx. 550-600. Since, 550 was my weight when I had my first/last doctors appointment in Colorado.

Health:
It was my first, because I have been having circulation problems in my legs and mostly because I suffer from OCD/Anxiety disorder. Today, I have my Anxiety/OCD disorders under tight control. Now it's time to work on my physical health so it can augment my mental and emotional health.

Spark:
I found Spark through my Android phone. I just wanted an app with tips, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Now I am signed up, and I am committed to start reaching goals.

Goals:
I have a few long term goals. My goals are less numbers based and more comfort based. As for numbers, I hope to reach 250 lbs but this time 2012.

1. Ease joint/back aches and pain
2. Increase endurance
3. Gain Self-Confidence
4. Century Rides


Concerns:
Since I first logged into the site last night, I have realized that I am ill prepared for this challenge. There was no plan involved. I just wanted the app for my phone, but it didn't support my weight. An SP_Coach suggested I sign up on the site, as the site would support my weight and translate my goals to my phone's app.

Action Plan:
I am looking at buying some equipment, a scale among them, from livingxl.com. I also plan to look through the menu plans and prepare my pantry for foods recommended over the stuff that's gotten me here.

P.S. - OK, so some of the OCD still shines through, at least it's not the detrimental side. So much for keeping it short.

Hi Everyone,

Well, I decided that I would join this group to help me get and stay motivated to get healthy and lose weight. I am so tired of feeling older than my age and tired, which I know is secondary to being out of shape and overweight. I look forward to participating in this journey with all of you.

Hi,
I'm have decided it is no longer acceptable for me to only think about losing weight. So here I am. Text book ideal weight would be 135 lbs but I'm aiming for a healthier body and being happier with myself.
