Hi I'm Shelly. I have been trying to cook healthier so when I saw this challenge I had to join. Love the sparkpeople site. Wish I had more time to visit site. For the last month I have substituted low or no fat for any dairy products in my recipes. Also use egg whites.

Hi I am Tiffany. The second I saw this Challenge I knew that I need to join up. I get caught in a rut with cooking and most of the time we end up going out to eat since I have my hands full all day. Though now due to many reasons we have decided to start working on the healthy eating. Which is where I hope this challenge can help me.

Hi I'm Patricia. I've been a SP member since 2007. I haven't been active on this site for some time but I'm back. I lost my first 50lbs and managed to keep it off. I'm ready to finish what I started. I was browsing through the teams and came across this cooking Challenge. I have a love/hate relationship with cooking so maybe following this challenge will help me with that. I also am bored with cooking the same thing day after day. So if you have any great healthy recipes you would like to share you can send me a SP message.

Patricia

Hi, I'm Faith. I saw this challenge and it looks great ... I need somewhere to be accountable; I've been trying to do some of the things (at least that I know of, the week 1 challenges) and I sure hope this will get me motivated to actually stick to it. :)

Hi I'm Bev, aka: Grammy. I live near the Napa Valley in CA, so I have access to all kinds of fresh and organic foods year round. What a blessing!

I made a decision to eat healthy meals when I started SP on 1/21/11. I have kept to that resolve these past four days. Now that may not sound like a lot to you, but we don't get to day 365 without passing day 4.

However, I have a terrible habit of planning my meal just before I cook and eat it. This often leads to frustration over what to eat, or disappointment in not having all of the ingredients for a particular recipe. I believe this challenge will definitely help me (force me...lol) to be prepared with the ingredients I need and to spend less time hunting around the kitchen to see what I can eat.

I want to thank each of you in advance for the tips you share and the support you will surely be to me and others on this site. Please let me know how I can encourage you.

Now to get started... emoticon emoticon

Hi! I'm Angie. I joined this group to try to learn to plan my meals and grocery shopping. When I get home from work, I have great plans to cook good meals, but then I'm just so tired that I end up making macaroni and cheese or something. So if I have a plan, I may actually stick to it!

Im joining because I want to cook healthy for my whole family. My husband is paralyzed from chest down and I work 48-50 hrs a wk plus we have 3 kids so my time is stretched if I can plan ahead I think I will have a much better chance of serving my precious family healthy meals so that eating healthy will come natural for my kids and they wont have to go thru what Im goin thru.

I don't plan my meals because I never stick to them and when I shop, it's all about the sales.

Even when I do plan something, something always comes up so I usually take the easy way, open a can or something. Not very smart.

My goal is to get into the habit of cooking fresh every day.

I also plan my meals each week but don't stick with them due to low energy and the ease of just going out to eat. So hoping this group will inspire me to stay home and stick with the plan. I'm Carole btw.

This team is right up my alley.. my love of gardening and cooking and baking meant my husband and I were serioiusly overeating for years. I put off dieting because I was certain I would have to stop baking and cooking - now I am trying to learn to cook healthily with all our veggies and redo our favorite recipes into healthy ones!

Hi my name is Liz. Just joined today. For the last 5 years all I have done is work and did not take care of myself as I should. All I did was play on the internet and attend the weekend BBQ's, which is really sad because before that I worked at a gym. I left the gym and checked out on myself. Well now it is time to check myself back into life.

Hello! I am new here but am really getting into the recipes I've found so far. Last night I made the slow cooker lasagna. I thought it was pretty good, very easy and my family liked it. Needed a little bit more flavor but i could probably fix it with the additon of some garlic. I also made the Maple Granola and it was awesome. It is on my counter in a cute glass canister! We are eating it with low fat yogurt and everyone loves it! Thank you for the great recipes and motivational tips!

Hello, I am Kelly. I am a mother of four that loves to cook for her family. One of my favorite parts of my day is sitting down and enjoying a good homemade meal with my husband and kids. I am earth friendly and love organic and all natural products. I believe healthy living is about nixing the artificial fake foods in our lives and filling up on natural whole "real" food that fuels our minds and bodies. I joined this group to assist in meeting some of my personal goals for my family, including eating more organic foods and learning how to save money in the process. I don't think eating healthy good food has to be expensive and want to focus on finding more ways to save. I also hope to gain some knowledge and tips on how to cook healthy foods. My mind is a sponge and I don't think I can ever learn enough.

Hi everyone, I'm Genevieve,
I'm 21 years old and from Canada. I am currently going to University in New Brunswick. I've had a lot of hopes (and some success) for maintaining my fitness now for years, but within the last year I've had a lot of stress and work to do that I seemed to miss out on my regular exercise and I began to slip up on my cooking and eating habits, eating what was cheap and very unhealthy. I'm really excited to join SPARK again and meet all of you.

Hi my name is Trishac. I live in Manitoba, Canada.
I have found as an empty nester I have let things slide. My hubby and I have been eating too many fast foods. I have started cooking again and making sure we have a salad with every meal. I went to the library and found they have lots of cookbooks on cooking for two. I am so used to making large meals.

Hi, my name is Arlene and I enjoy cooking. I joined this challenge more to work on planning my meals and learning ways to help me eat healthier. I'm looking to add some meatless meals and I'd like to do a number of batch meals which can be split up and frozen so I don't have to eat the same thing for 4 days straight. I don't like to waste food so I need to be better organized in the kitchen.

Hello everyone. I previously had a Spark Page last year. When my 11 yr old son died Sept 2009, I basically deleted myself "out of life". I'm back to working again and decided that I needed to do something "POSITIVE" for a change. If I intend living each day to the fullest, well my actions should show that.

Landen would want my healthy and so I'm doing this for #1 (Me).. and for my kiddos and grandaughter Gracie.

Thank you
Melissa

Hiya,

I've been a member of Spark officially for a long time but this is the last time I'm 're-starting' - I'm here to stay.

I cook and I know how to eat healthily but life being so busy, I get lazy and have fallen into the routine of eating terrible quick foods - pizza, bread etc. I'm ready to change.

Yesterday, I made my own burger from mince, onions, garlic, crackers, sea salt & pepper. I made my own salsa to put on top of it and ate it with a bit of salad. emoticon

Hi!
I've been on Spark since about May (I think :)) but I have been trying to lose weight and maintain it for about 10 years. Yo-yo dieting is the story of my life! Anyway, I've just recently started cooking more seriously, having moved in with my boyfriend, so I am constantly looking for ways to cook more healthy! Looking forward to this challenge!

I have been on sparks for quite some time, but have just recently (as of the new year) been into really making my own food and forsaking all others--so to speak. I want to make it into a good habit, though, and stick with cooking healthily and cooking my own stuff.

I'm just cooking for me (occasionally dad, but unless its full of beans he won't touch it), so i'll have plenty of leftovers, its just remembering why I got certain fresh healthy items and what I plan to make with what I buy--that's the habit I really need to get into (very bad about that)

hope this helps, looking forward to participating in this challenge.

Hi I am new.
I work a full time job and live with roommates. My most challenging meal of the day is dinner (and that is also when the munchies like to come out and play.)

I need to get a lot more fiber and vegetables into my diet, but I find it mentally difficult cooking at the end of a long day and sidestepping my roommates at the same time.

Am hoping to reeducate myself yet again and learn better tools to deal with the situation.

Emily from Montana. I work part time and go to college full time. I make a lot of slow cooker meals for my family and I'm always looking for new ideas there. We live in beef country and we're used to eating a lot of red meat because it's cheap... or free for us! I grow a garden in the summer time but in the winter we pick through the cheap veggies at the store. I have been on SP for almost a year now and lost 50 lbs!

Hi, I'm Jennifer. I'm 43 years old and I joined this team because I want to learn how to cook...period. So I figure why not learn how to cook healthy food from the start. I usually burn water and the microwave is as complicated to me as learning to rebuild a carburator. The term 'blackened' comes up a lot in conversations about food. So I would like to surprise my husband with some healthy, delicious, not-burned food. I am excited about this challenge and about getting to know you all. I apologize in advance that I won't be able to share recipes, tips and techniques. But I do look forward to learning from you all.

Hi everybody. I am looking forward to getting some ideas. I think I do a pretty good job of cooking healthly, but have lots to learn!

Hi, I'm Nellie. Even though I have done a lot of cooking which I feel is healthy, I figured I could learn more about it. When I was recovering from surgery and was weak, I used a lot of Lean Cuisine and Healthy Choice meals, but now I am getting back to cooking from scratch again.

I was excited to awe this team. I get stress relief from cooking and baking but then I eat the food and not always health. So I look forward to learning how to revamp my favorite dishes to a more healthier meal.

Hi!

I've been on Spark People for almost a year now, I think. I'm really active some of the time with backpacking and cycling, but then I have times where I'm not active (winter, ugh). Problem is, I tend to eat the same amount when I'm not active and the pounds just add back on. I'm hoping to use Spark People to even these out somehow and keep me motivated to stay active through the winter this year.

I made turkey noodle soup, this week. It tastes great with wheat spiral noodles. (celery/carrots and onions) I also like it spicy. Really good for these cold nights in Georgia. I live on the coast. I plan to lose 40 lbs by June.
