It's a very easy thing to do but you have adopted a very good mechanism for keeping it from taking over your life. Getting up and doing some task "buys" you another ticket to watch! LOL

Outstanding. So glad to hear you are making some good progress on this challenge.

Read another good book till 2AM. I was sleeping quite well when I heard my GD talking. Apparently, she had to leave early to catch the bus. So I didn't get to sleep in till 9am. Oh well. Nice thing about retirement is that I can take a ten minute nap this afternoon.

I've been meaning to check out some of those apps for my tablet.

I have been doing better about the TV in the bedroom. I'm still turning it on when I first go in there but setting the timer for shorter periods and NOT turning it on when I wake up in the night...if I do...the last few nights I've been sleeping through to 5:30. Feel like a baby being excited about sleeping thorough the night. LOL

Even just resting with eyes closed can be helpful. Meditation vids on you tube help me relax. I just have to block the light from my phone. The sounds can be so soothing.

I've been sleeping through the night! Feel like a baby LOL but that's a great thing even if the total hours are still a little shy of my goals. One thing at a time I guess.

LOL The last book I read was just too good! I stayed up reading too long one night and that of course got me all goofed up. Set stricter hours for myself and got back into the groove then had a day with low protein that goofed me up again...I was way too tired early, submitted to that and went to bed too early then you guess it woke up and had that bad cycle to deal with. I'm not able to nap at all during the day never had been so last evening I had to really struggle to stay up to avoid setting that pattern. Last night was good so fingers crossed I can keep going this way.

Sleep back on track because I refused to take a nap. I have been making myself put the book down by 11:30. Also I ended up having a book I had on hold come available. So I have the second knitting book to finish and the Grandmother one by Robert Backman. I also downloaded a freebie cozy mystery with a flamingo on the cover. Those are always fun.

Looks like a good series book! Fingers crossed you can get right back into the sleep groove.

I awoke at 3 as I often do but was able to ignore it and fall back to sleep until 5:30 when I really couldn't ignore the call of the bathroom. When I crawled back into bed, I thought I might be able to doze again but my mind said nope..time to be awake. Still, it's better by far than what had become my usual sleep or lack thereof so...Maybe I'm on my way to setting a new pattern. Fingers crossed!

That book I read.......It was six AM when I finished. I thought it was 2. I did have a two hour nap earlier, so truly messed things up again. At least I didn't binge eat. That is the good news. Will need to take benadryl tonight at 7pm to get back on track, or not take a nap. That should help.

You're right, even if one does doze that flickering light keeps the sleep light so it interferes in the quality. Another issue which I ran into this morning. I got up to the bathroom with full intention to return to bed for some more sleep when I discovered that my husband was in the living room streaming something on youtube that we both like...you guessed it, against my better judgement I grabbed a fleece jacket to put on over my jammie top and joined him. I almost don't want to see what fitbit tells me about my sleep duration...and I have otherwise been doing better in this regard! Oh well, old habits die hard.

Brain research shows that the lights from the flickering TV are very stimulating to the brain. The picture changes every three seconds. A good way to test this is to turn the TV on, turn out the lights and step into another room and watch how the lights flicker on the wall. With that said, I think I will go tuck myself into bed with a good book. What I really want to do is watch a movie on Prime. Or possibly Ella Enchanted on Netflix, because that is going off Netflix in February.

Groannnnn...LOL TV watching when I hit the sack is my number one bad habit. I do my amazon prime binge watching while I exercise which at least keeps that from being an issue at least I'm getting something accomplished. LOL But...there are some shows on PBS that I like and my husband doesn't so I will head into the bedroom to watch "my shows" leaving the living room to his and his programs. I set the timer so the TV shuts off after the shows are done but sometimes that's 2 hours of the blue light distraction. Often I will fall asleep before the tv actually shuts off but of course I awaken at 2 or 3 and then falling back to sleep is an issue...so what did I do? turn on the tv to have some "white noise" Not clever! LOL

Now, I have made a commitment to set the timer for less time..I can't go cold turkey on these shows and my body is so on a schedule that if I were to watch in another room, I would still awaken at 3...4 at the latest from years of having to get up at 4. Last night when I awoke at 3, I forced myself to NOT turn that box back on after my trip to the bathroom. And it worked!

Baby steps!

We didn't have a TV for seven years. I have one now, but it is hooked to Prime, so when I find a series I like I sometimes will watch five programs in a row. I Binge on TV which is as bad as a binge on food. Glad you posted because, I have kind of let my sleeping habits slip. Promise myself to do better this week.

Hello, I've never joined a challenge before. I have gotten into a bad habit of staying up late watching tv. I find a series I love and start binge watching then I sleep till 10:00 or so. I know I have to stop this so though I'd try a challenge. So let the challenge begin!
