Hello. My name is Catherine and I am new to Sparkspeople. I've had a lot of changes in the last year, all to the detriment of my health. I started doing yoga a month ago, now I'm ready to take it up a notch with increase cardio and weights. I'm looking forward to this challenge.

Hi I am Casey, I am 27 and just weighed in at 388. I will lose over 100 pounds this year. I am tired of being fat and uncomfortable. I am having a nephew in June so I want to be able to play with him the way I should be able to. So by the time he is up and walking I will be so close to my goal weight (150) and he wont know a fat aunt.

HAPPINESS IS NOTHING MORE THAN GOOD HEALTH AND A BAD MEMORY.

I am ready to get back to healthy living after a little break over the holidays. I do fairly well at tracking my food and walking, now I need to add variety to my workouts.

What a great Thing, I can still exercise! I just did the ten minute boot camp work out, and did not have to call for a doctor. Just glad no one was there to see me. I need to be able to make this body do what I want it to do(with in reason of course). I have been doing Sparkpeople stuff for about one year. I have changed my life stile and lost some weight. I teach so I am on my feet all day, and I walk about 3 miles 6 days a week, and lift weights every other day. But this was the first day that I did exercises, I think since I was in the military. emoticon

Hello everyone!
My name is Lisa. I just turned 45 and have been overweight for most of my adult life. I fall into the "don't quit quitting" group. I've tried every weight loss group and company and plan. Some have been slightly successful, but most haven't. So I finally realized that it was ME, not the plans, that didn't have it together.

I am TERRIBLE about being consistent with anything, whether it be my eating habits, my exercise, taking medications, etc. etc. I don't know why yet, but I'm trying to come to terms with this realization. Of course, this is NOT what is needed in order to change my lifestyle, become healthier and more active.

But, we all have to start somewhere, right? Which is why I LOVE the 10 min daily exercise goal. And, this bootcamp is coming at the perfect time. Not only is my mantra for this new year "New Year, New Goals, New Attitude", but my husband and I are doing a week mission trip in Haiti with our church on Feb 20-28, so anything I can loose before then will help!

I wish everyone the best in meeting their goals!! emoticon

Good morning, everyone - my name is Laura, and I'm 46 now but about to turn 47 in less than two weeks. I've been a member of Spark for several years but have been having trouble with gaining weight (and having no luck taking it off again) over the last year or so. Part of the reason has been due to overeating and eating the wrong things, so I'm tracking carefully now and have finally seen a pound come off as of this morning (yay!). Part of the reason also had to do with misplaced priorities, I think - I just got out of a 7-year relationship with someone who created a lot of emotional stress for me over the past 2-3 years and had "issues" with my weight-loss efforts (his opinion was if I was trying to lose weight, I must not like myself, and - horrors! - I was insulting him because he found me attractive. Ugh. But I digress....). Now, I'm rid of that drain on my time and emotions and can focus on myself and being a great role model for my kids.

I joined the bootcamp challenge because I try to do 10-20 minutes of Spark DVDs each morning before work (followed by a 20-minute walk with my dog), but I find that I tend to hit that goal Mondays, Tuesdays, and some Wednesdays and them slide off. I thought the Bootcamp team would help me meet my AM fitness goals 5 days a week and help me be physically stronger, if not smaller. Weekend workouts are not a problem for me; but I need a bit of a push during the week.

I'll try to be an active, supportive member of this group.

One quick question - when, exactly, does the challenge begin? It's January 3rd now. Did we start on the 1st?

Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
Laura

Do what you can. Want what you have. Be who you are.

Hi! I just turned 51 last week. I started back with Sparkpeople the week of Thanksgiving, but I've only lost 5 pounds. I've been building up my cardio and can run 5 miles, but I'm not doing much beyond that. My flab keeps hanging on! I hope changing things up with Bootcamp will move things along.

Good luck team!!

Hello, I my name is Teresa an almost 47 year old married mother of six. I joined SP on the 1st of January to try to trim off 14 pounds that I have put on this winter. With football season and birthdays I am sure that it is going to be a yo-yo time hopefully not, but we will see.

Hi Folks, my name is Sam. I have enjoyed SP for a while now and had some great results. However, I quit smoking and put on a few lbs so I want to work hard to lose them and continue towards my goal weight. I thought this would be a fun way to be accountable and to jump start my program.

Peace!

Good morning!

My name is Don, I’m 41 years old, married near Boston, MA. I decided to join the Boot Camp challenge because my goal right now is to exercise regularly and really make it a habit. I figured that this challenge would expose me to different exercises that I can do at home and help me kick-start this process.

I'm excited to be here!

Hi, I have been on SparkPeople for a while now and had lost 35lbs but have recently gained it all back. I want to lose these pounds plus more to reach my initial goal and with the Bootcamp Challenge I know it will be just the kickstart that I need. Well on to the Week 1 Video. Wish me luck.

Hi, my name is Lee. I'm 26, married, and a graduate student studying social work in SC. I'm relatively new to SP, I've been doing the better lifestyle thing on and off for over a year now, and I would really like to make it a lifestyle change. I've changed some things, but I've not changed some of the major ones that I need to, i.e.: exercise, smaller portion sizes, and less empty calories. Those are the things I am hoping to work on this year, and over the next 28 days!

Hello all, I am ready to get on a fast track fitness schedule. I schedule everything in my life but my fitness and it has taken it's toll. I LOVE to cook and love food and I have loads of teens that show up at my house on a daily basis to eat. It has been a challenge for me to stay on a diet. I want to turn my focus inward to support myself in dropping 70 lbs. and living a very healthy lifestyle and to inspire all the children in my life to do the same.

Hi Boot Campers!
I decided to join the count down to mix up my workouts, keep things interesting, and start the final crunch for my April wedding. When my knees arent angry at me, I love running - but I mix things up with biking and tae-bo.
I'm from the great state of NJ and I'm always looking for friends to meet at the gym or for drinks afterwards :)

What a great challenge! I need it after the Holidays. My name is Gail, and I've been with Spark People about a month. I'm sort of an introvert, so I've never joined a challenge before. Maybe this will help me on many levels. I'm looking forward to being a part of this group.

Hi everyone!
My name is Malia. Two years ago I made a New Year's resolution and lost all of my baby weight. It was awesome! Unfortunately, six months later I was diagnosed with severe rheumatoid arthritis. Between the meds (steroids), lack of exercise, joint pain, and stress, I have gained back all that weight and then some. Here I am two years later recommitting myself. I want to be healthy for myself, my husband, and my kids. It is going to be difficult figuring out how to work out and not to inflame or damage my joints, but I am going to take it slow and navigate my way through this disease and getting fit.

Hello! My name is Donna and I have just joined Spark People. What a great website and community from what I can tell so far! I am forty two years old and mainly looking to get into better shape. I don't have a lot of weight to lose, but I quit smoking, successfully, in June 2010 and now I feel like I can tackle my next goal of making a priority of and time for fitness and healthful eating so I can live an active life for a long time to come. I look forward to the challenge!

Hi, I haven't been using sparkpeople lately and would like to get back to it. We recently got a mini laptop and internet so I can get on more frequently. I also joined an all girls gym and have a trainer two times a month. I'm also in the process of doing a standard process cleanse where I eat only fruits and vegetables and take supplement shakes twice a day for 3 weeks. Good luck to all of the participants!

I haven't exercised in a looooonnnnggg time and have only been on Spark for 1 week. But I am going to do my best with the challenge. It should be a great kickstart for me - and I need a kick! ;)
I'm 58 and a proud grandma who retired to babysit my grandkids. As I stayed home, I gained weight and then more weight, and before I knew it I was 100 lbs overweight. Now that they're all in school, I need the energy and HEALTH to keep up with their activities.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!

I'm a 44 year old male with chronic myofascial pain. I need to lose about 25 lbs or so, and I need to be more active. I've sort of been treading water in regards to my weight since I joined SP at the beginning of the fall. I'm ready now to try to incorporate activity and do what I can to begin shedding some pounds. I am joining this challenge because I think I can keep up with the videos, even if the 30 minutes of cardio is a bit much for me personally right now.

Hello, my name is Paige. I am a 24 year old graduate student and wife who wants to feel better about herself. I joined SparkPeople in the summer, but I have since dropped out of usage. Thus, my waist is getting bigger and my mood is falling lower. I hope that this Bootcamp can help me find a routine that is easy to fit into my everyday busy life and start seeing the numbers on the scale change in my favor!

Hello everyone and Happy New Years! My name is Courtney. I actually joined Sparkpeople in 2008, but I just recently started using it. I am here to become stronger mentally and physically. I hope this 28-Day bootcamp will get me back into the groove of things.

Hi everyone my name is Kelly and i am 51 years old. Exercising has never been alot of fun for me so i fall off the mat regularly. This year is a whole new me... I am comitted to doing this 28 day challenge and believe this is just what i needed to give me that extra boost of " i can do this spirit". I quit smoking a year ago and that was tougher then anything else i've eve done. This should be a piece of cake ( low calorie of course).

Hi everyone! My name is Jamie. I am a CPA and am determined to have a good routine in place before February 15th, so tax season doesn't derail me this year. This sounds like a great way to get that ball rolling.
