Hi I'm Nikki and I've been on SparkPeople for a while now but joined this team as a way to get back into the groove with exercise. I'm hoping a streak with spark me to get on the exercise wagon!

I'm Jennifer, not new to Sparkpeople, but new to this team. I really struggle with regular exercise and joined this team to challenge myself with 10 minutes a day to start and build from there.

Hi, I am Larry. I live in central Illinois and I have been a SP member since December 2009. The theme for this team sounded interesting and I want a challenge so I can reach my weight goal.

Hello, everyone. I'm Charlotte, a/k/a the Divine Princess, but you can call me Princess! emoticon
I'm 59 years old and trying to learn to love cardio. So far it's not working. I currently do 30 minutes of cardio five days a week, but plan to use this Challenge to get in an additional 10 minutes daily. Hopefully by fall I'll be doing 60 minutes of cardio three days a week in addition to my three days of strength training at the gym.

I'll need lots of motivation because did I mention that I hate cardio?

Hi. Upon recovering from a terrible viral infection that kept me in bed for a month, I found that it was still hard to get up and do any exercise. Before I got sick I was at the gym 3-4 times a week. Now I am committed to starting over, even if it is in a small way.

Hello Coach\hello everyone,
I am 29 yrs old happily married girl from India. I have re-joined Spark on April after seeing a horrible pic taken by my bro. Since then, its been an enjoyable journey. I am able to keep up to most of my promises and maing good progress(i beleive).
Im working out every single day and trying to eat as clean as possible. Due to my long office hours, I can not devote a lot of time to execise, so try to find alternatives.
I take more steps than ever, try to move as much as possible.
This 10 minutes im going to count apart from the usual work out routines.
Wish me luck !!! :)

~Whatever be the pain.. continue your climb. You may be just a step away from the Summit ~

Hi, Everyone, I am from Arkansas, 66 years old and walk with a walker because of osteoarthritis in my knees. I am not able to get down on the floor or do much in the way of most exercises but have found that a lot of the exercises can be modified to be done from the chair. I also am able to walk in place, seated. I am working to get up to 10,000 steps but so far I have only reached 3500, but I will get there.

I just busted a plateau and lost four pounds and I want to challenge myself to go to the next step, of committing myself to at least ten minutes a day. Most days I will do more but having this challenge will mean that I seriously mean business.

Hello All,
I'm a 37-year-old from Pennsylvania who recently joined this site to help me get past a plateau of complacency. This challenge is just what I need to get me into a fitness routine again. I've done it before, I can do it again, I just need the motivation and support that seems to be abundant on this site! I think I'll go change my clothes now, get the leash on the dog, and get moving! emoticon

Hi Susan,if you weigh once a week, make your weigh-in day Monday. I generally don't track my food on Saturday and Sunday. I do eat mostly right. My weigh-in day has been Monday since I went to Jenny Craig. They said most people chose Friday so that they have all week to lose the weight they put on over the weekend.

Hi Team, I'm Susan. I already do 40-45 minutes of fitness daily, but I take off on Friday and Sunday. I think even 10 minutes of exercise on those days is better than none, so I'm excited to get started. I also belong to the Weekend Survival Team because I tend to regain whatever weight I've lost through the week and have to start over again each Monday. I just had a couple of weekends where I chose to indulge without guilt, but I'm ready for a new challenge to keep myself motivated. Let's Go Team!

Hi there! I have been losing and gaining the same weight for several years now (I lose it in the summer and gain it back in the winter). I have mostly been dieting, as I never seem to have the time to exercise (nor the motivation to MAKE the time). But, since I recently lost my job, I now have the time and NO MORE EXCUSES! I fully intend to get it done -- 10 minutes at a time!

PS. My username is based on my real name; not chosen because of the SparkPeople website!

Thanks, JM. I did it today! For the first time, there were so many distractions. The timer on my recumbant bike did not click in as quickly as usual. It was a blessing to have another clock close by. It seems that so many "little things" tried to occupy my mind before exercising. I pushed through. Another thing that helps me is as soon as I awake, lie for a few minutes while listening to semi-classical praise music and doing a few stretches. After taking care of a few personal needs, I ride my bike. Then, my day begins. I am so thankful for the 10min. idea, because it helps me to focus. The beautiful thing is the ability to alternate between the recumbant bike and the upright stationary bike. After 15yrs. my treadmill stopped functioning. So presently, I use whatever I have and I am grateful to be back at SparkPeople again. Have a great day.

I am only one. Still I am. I cannot do everything. Therefore, the things I can do, I will do. (Helen Keller)

Hi my name is Felisa. I have the same issues as Sandra....I can do fine with the eating, but forcing myself to do the exercise can be real hard. But I know I can do the 10 minutes a day and once I get going I tend to push for more!

Hi all you new people, I find it easier to exercise or do anything else first thing in the morning. As the day goes on it gets to be less of a chance that it will happen. Too many urgent things come up and the important I let get subjected to the urgent.

10 minutes is easy.

Cyndi, put the alarm on the other side of the room and when you get up to hit the snooze button just stay up and get your 10 minutes in. I promise you wont want to get back in bed.

Lauren, no more days off. No day is complete without exercise, just like no day is complete without eating.

Sandra, if you watch TV, put one in front of the exercise bike. You are fortunate to have equipment in your home.

Hello,
my name is Sandra, and I am from south Texas. I have joined this challenge because I have been unable to force myself to exercise at all. I seem to be able to stick the the diet very well (meaning, without very many mishaps) but when it comes to exercising I haven't been able to force myself to do any at all. I just feels like punishment to me. I will try the 10 min. a day on my stationary bike or on my treadmill. I think I can do anything for 10 min. I hope this is the motivation I need to get me going.

I like your "covenant" promise - Great idea to bike first thing in the AM. You are like me, I have to do it first thing - otherwise the day gets away! Go for it!! God bless.

Hello,
I am Lavenderblue. Last week, I made a covenant with myself to get up and exercise the first thing in the morning. However, I did not put a time frame on it. So, today is my day for time frame. My exercise is to ride my stationary bike for at least ten minutes.
Blessings to all.

Hi - I found this team just searching around and reading a blog. I hope I can do this! 10 min. sounds reasonable - but I'm going to have to work at "daily". I try to walk everyday but miss sometimes - so a 10 min. walk break is something I hope I will do!! On with the challenge... Today I walked 26 min.

Hi everyone! I'm new to SparksPeople and am ready to start working out. I've had to take a break due to health reasons and after several months of bed rest, I'm finding it frustrating to not be in the same condition as I was before surgery. Instead of giving up, I figured this challenge is a great way to work my way back into things! I'm so glad to have you all here for support.

Just saw this team and thought I'd join, its perfect timing. Tonya, here's a easy tip to build consistency. Put a small chalk board beside your favorite sitting place. List a "prize" for when you complete your goals, then Put 3 goals on it. For example I have yoga 4 times/ week, strength exercises 3/week, & daily meditation. put a box under each title for the number of times you want to do it, I have 8 yoga, 6 strength, 14 meditation(2 weeks) add a motivational quote suited and place a stick of chalk right in front of it. Now you get to check off each time you do I, watch your progress grow and have it all in you most probable procrastination zone. Good luck, hope this helps.

You may not choose your life experiences, but you choose how you experience life.

We all have it within us to change, if we CHOOSE to do so.

Hi,my name is Becky! I have lived pretty much a skinny life until 15 years ago when I had my thyroid removed and then hit with a double whammy by menopause... it was all down hill from there.

The weight packed on and I was too busy with family and work to think about what was really happening to me. I was on a downward spiral until I joined Spark People that January day in 2009. Since that day I have never looked back.

When I began I was having problems getting up and down from chairs, and even just walking to the mailbox was painful and a huge chore. Since starting by taking baby steps I've not only gained more mobility, but I've participated in two 5K Walk/Runs. No, I'm not running yet, and I probably never will at my age, but I am walking, and walking fast, and that has been a huge accomplishment in getting myself back to where I once was!!

So, this is me, and I would love to get to know you. Please stop by my Spark Page if you would like to know more about me and introduce yourself!

Keeping that Spark!
~Becky

Hi everyone! My name is April and I joined SP in march and have been off and on but I am trying to break the all or nothing mentality in my mind and take small steps to reaching my goals! Exercise is something I have never liked doing, but I find myself when I actually get up and do it I LOVE it and feel great! This I hope is just the boost I need!

I'm Angela and I live in Athens, Georgia. I've been on SparkPeople for about a month now, but I want to start adding more strength training to my workout. I figured this would be a great way to help me get started and track it better.

Cheryl here - I felt this team would help me be more realistic about my exercises, I usually get very grandiose and think, well, how about 5 10 minute sessions, that can only be BETTER! and then I get overwhelmed and disappointed because I bit off too big of a chunk. I appreciate all moderating influences to my grandiosity LOL! emoticon

Hello from me! I am Joanie---age 62 and I sit at work all day then come home and do the same! Ten minutes sounds so do-able and I haven't even done that for the last few years! This is a motivating challenge.....and I need one!!!

Hi, I'm Cathy. I want to challenge myself to exercise every single day for a month. I'm hoping 10 minutes will stretch into longer.

Hi! I've been on SP for over a year and had lost over 10 lbs, but then I had some back issues and gained most of it back. I want to get into an everyday habit and get moving.

Hiya! I'm Jill- I've been on SP for a while, but the past few months have been backpedaling b/c of an injury, now a second one (which is a reoccurence of an older injury). I gained 10lbs back b/c of it, and am determined to get that off, and the remaining 10. I have 13 months to do it before DH & I renew our vows & do the ceremony, reception thing- we didn't the first time.
I've been doing pretty well getting at least 10 minutes most days, but prefer the official challenge to keep me honest/motivated.
:)

Hey, today's my 2nd day of 10-min daily exercise. Usually did 3-days cardio on every other day but I think I'm ready to go to next level. I'm so excited to continue this challenge after read the benefits and to unleash my compressed energy into right channel. Sometimes, I've too much energy that I tend to spend it almost all at daylight that by the time I came back home, in the evening, I'm just too tired to move. So, this challenge might help me to control my energy flow - somehow sounds like I'm doing kungfu, haha.
