Hello team! My name is Denise and I embarked upon this new adventure on June 28, 2010. Upon joining SP, I simultaneously opted to embrace a vegan diet for health reasons. Albeit, I have dabbled as a vegetarian off and on for the last 15 years, I finally realized the vast health benefits associated with the lifestyle. Secondly, I am a neophyte with respect to the realm of social media. Using this forum is exciting and intriguing to aid in making lifestyle changes to facilitate achieving my weight loss goals. My goal is to lose 95 lbs. I look forward to being an active participant of the team!

Hello everyone

My name is Heather. I joined SP on June 30th. I live in Florida with my husband of 10 years (next month) and 2 beautiful daughters (ages 3 1/2 and 13 months). I work as a bridal consultant at Macy's and LOVE it! I have been there 6 years now.

I joined SP after getting the pictures back from a trip to Disney World. I saw a picture of myself and was SHOCKED at how I looked and how much weight I have gained since having my babies.

I want to be able to play with my daughters while they still WANT to do things with me. I want to have energy. I want my girls to have fond memories of their mother participating in their lives - not just watching. Most of all, I want to stick around here A LONG TIME so I can see my children grow up, get married, and have children of their own.

I want to have the energy to take walks with my husband again. I want to grow old with him. We used to be able to take a walk every day - I miss that.

I need to lose a total of 100 pounds. Hearing and saying that number is very overwhelming for me. Instead of focusing on that number, I have first set a goal of 50 pounds by the first of the year. From there, I can focus on the rest. I am looking forward to being comfortable in my own skin again!

Hi everyone!

My name is Lisa, I am 28 years old and from Rhode Island. I have a dog and two cats, but no kids or SO. I work two full times jobs, and don't have much in the sense of spare time. I joined here on June 28th, because I wanted more control over my life and body, and was in need of some motivation and discipline as well as for distraction from a bad break up. I had just started the couch to 5k when I joined, and started cooking my own meals a LOT more. However right after I joined (7/2) I stepped on a nail, and couldn't do my walking but I kept up with my diet. Then on July 6th I was in a bad car accident and have been laid up since. I ate terribly and spent way too much time lying on my back. I am sure I have gained weight, and have had little motivation because I am still in pain. But after spending the last weekend only getting off the couch to eat, I know that I need to work extra hard before I slip to far off into the deep end. And when I say work extra hard I don't mean crunches or running (Because physically, I really can't do those things just yet), I mean making more health conscious decisions, and finding new ways to be active that won't further aggravate my injuries. And to do that I need community, and am really excited to find it here. Also, I quit smoking on July 14th, so there is at least that.

I wish you all the best of luck, and I know our goals are possible!

-Lisa

I am Airbo1 and I am 35 years old. I have been married for 10 years and have 2 teenage step-daughters. I have been overweight for most of my life and am tired of putting myself last. I quit smoking after doing it for over 15 years and have started training to run a 4 miler. Its time to get down to business and lose the weight as well. I am determined to reach my goals. I was on Spark before but this is the week I meant it. So here I am. emoticon

Hello, all.

I'm joyful_storm, from Seattle. I'm 33, married for going on 4 years - we've got two cats, no kids, and no immediate plans to change either.

I'm frighteningly accurately categorized by a whole bunch of local stereotypes: I work for a software company; I like gaming and books and films, particularly science fiction and fantasy; I'm big into recycling and sustainable living; I like hiking, biking, camping and boating; I have highly developed and decadent taste in food and beverages.

Pagan spirituality is a big and complicated part of my life. I love, love, love to travel, and am planning a trip to the UK this coming October, including a challenging hike and bike ride that I'm training to conquer.

One of my wildly ambitions hopes is to get fit enough and build the upper body strength to seriously pursue aerial dance with a local company called The Cabiri.

I came to SparkPeople following a friend who used to mention it a lot. I'm doing Weight Watchers for my diet, but felt their online community was lacking. I like it a lot here, though - those SparkPoints are amazingly motivating! I've found myself picking up a lot of little good habits I've been meaning to for some time (such as drink more water, bring my lunch, wear a pedometer) since signing on here, which can only be a good thing!

That's today's nutshell definition of me; ask tomorrow, and it might come out very differently. . .

Hi, I'm Kim. I'm from Virginia Beach and I'm here to lose some weight. I just quit smoking (Saturday will be a month... ) and well I'm doing great not smoking, but I've lost all motivation to lose weight... so I'm changing my focus back to weightloss. I've given myself enough slack!

Hi From North Atlanta. I am a 30yo (Wow, really that old ;) ) trucker. I have missed out on a couple of jobs due to high blood pressure, and was told that I was morbidly obese, so I knew I had to do something about that, I joined a gym, and they recommended SparkPeople, and I joined, and have been happy with it so far. Hi everyone! My name is Valerie, I will be 25 in October & I'm a mother to a little girl who is 1. I'm also a college student, so trying to lose weight while being a stay at home mom & college student has not been easy (especially without daycare or help) but I'm not giving up! We live near Houston, Texas & this is not my first time on Spark, but I started a new account because I felt I needed a fresh start :o) Glad to join you guys!

Hi. I'm Anna. I'm a 40 yr old SAHM with a 5 and a 2 yr old. They keep me busy! We live in Tucson, AZ so we're in our "hibernate inside" summer mode (can't wait for fall & getting back outside). I joined SP last week, and had a great first week. Looking forward to creating new healthy habits, setting a good example for my kids, and, of course, losing weight.

Hi everyone! I'm Brittney and I'm using SP as a tool to help me with a 9 week weight loss challenge that my friend and I are doing together. You can join the challenge, too. Check out "university of me" on youtube....some lady has posted videos about her weight loss journey and is challenging others to join her. Since I'm at my highest weight ever, I figured it be wise of me to accept the challenge!

Hi fellow Spark People friends! My name is Brandy. I am a mother of 3 great children, and wife to the best husband in the world! :) On the 23rd, I will be 28 years old, and I am just very unhappy with my physical condition. I weighed myself, so I could enter in all the info when I joined, and was amazed to see that I had allowed myself to become 200lbs overweight!! Today was day two for me, I wrote a blog about day 1. Tomorrow will be hard, but I know I can overcome my obstacles and get my daily exercises done! I am looking forward to fitting into some tight jeans again! :)

Hi everyone,

My name is Joy, I'm turning 43 in a few weeks, and am a stay home mom of various children. I live in beautiful Salem Oregon. Like many others it took me a long time to yo yo diet myself to VERY overweight. However, I'm excited to be part of a group that is in it for the long haul. I look forward to the lifestyle changes and the permanent improvement to many aspects of my life.

My name is Andrea. I'm a 34 year old wife and mom to three (four if you count my puppy!). I just rejoined SP today. I am planning on starting a walking program on Monday, and as I was searching online for one, the best one I could find was here. I've been lacking motivation and commitment for a long time, but recently I have been experiencing a total heart change in this area. Today I had an epiphany that I was actually bored of working out in front of my TV. That's when my husband read an article to me about how walking is one of the best workouts there is, and the next thing you know, here I am!

Because that commitment thing is an issue for me (I've been struggling for a few years now), I really wanted to make an effort to post on the boards and get to know people here. So here I am. It's nice to meet you! :)

Hi everyone, how are you? I'm Melissa *waves* I am 36, married, living in Austin. I have two boys, 10 and 11. And I'm in college right now going for a Fine Arts Degree.

I am here because I've put on some weight since having my kids (and a few other reasons) And I just want to be back in that place where I feel comfortable with my body, and I feel good about how I look in my clothes. Right now my self esteem is suffering because I dont feel that way..and I know I'm the only one who can change that. And I know I can, I just have to put the work in.

SO. Did I mention I want to look good naked?? LOL Walking past a mirror and checking out my ass instead of almost having a mild panic attack would be GREAT. LOL

Hi, I'm Karen. I joined on Tuesday, and have been faithfully recording my intake, and am very pleased with my progress so far...

... so far. But I broke my pinky toe yesterday, so my daily walk is out, and yoga is iffy for now. emoticon

I'm 41, live in Texas with my DH and 14 year old daughter. I teach for the Armed Forces, so I'm constantly surrounded by people in excellent shape, which is a great motivator.

Hi, I'm Di. I'm really looking forward to the success that I'm confident will come with this approach. I'm a single mother of 2 kids (5 & 8) who works full time. I have 50 pounds to lose and want to set an example of healthy, active living for my kids. I have always been very hesitant to share in this way, but I'm realizing that this kind of accountability may be the key to long-lasting success. I'm getting out of my comfort zone in many ways. emoticon

Hi first day here and looks like a lot of useful tips I look forward to using the system.
I have some health issues that keep me from consistently working out. The pain is so bad that I give up within days of starting. I plan on starting fully tomorrow with an early morning walk, breakfast log in and start using the tools here.
I live in Ohio, married and have 3 grown children my youngest (just graduated HS and leaves for the Navy basic in December).
Good luck to all who joined this week too.

Greetings everyone!!!

I am Natasha and I am reside in Georgia but I am originally from New York. As of today, this is my first day on SP and I excited to be here in a forum to live healthier. At one time, I never had to consider weight as I would simply lose it by not eating lunch or breakfast. However, as I had my last child at a later age 38 years old, it seems like the weight just wants to stick onto me. I use a exercise program but it seems to be just toning me but I am not losing. So, something is wrong, wouldn't you say???

Howdy ho, Greetings from Alabama... today is day one hour one since I joined spark... so far so good. I am 34, single, no children, plants or pets. I work in the hotel industry and am enjoying myself. Originally from New Orleans. I love to travel, cook, read and other leisure activities. I want to learn to like more cardio activities. I have the treadmill, exercise bike, dvd workout tapes and the Wii Fit but alas, I also have excuses. The goal is to put the excuses away for good and DO THE DO! I keep repeating nothing to it but to do it... but I still find myself doing other things and one of my most favortite things to do is - nothing... So I am here for a spark of enthusiasm to receive and hopefully return... emoticon

Hello,

I am new to SP and was introduced to the program by a friend.

I have been doing Weight Watchers since the end of March and have lost 49lbs so far and a whole bunch more to go. I am definitely in for the long haul on losing weight.

Had a set back this week with an emergency removal of my gallbladder on Monday. Surprise, surprise. Healing is going well and luckily I had already modified my diet so the change wont be difficult. I managed a mile walk today so hopefully I will be back to where I was sooner then later.

Other then that, I live outside of Chicago. I have a 16 year old daughter and work in marketing.

I am looking forward to using SP for a more rounded experience as I work my weight down.

We are not on this earth to see through one another, but to see one another through.

As my user name says I have been disabled for nearly 10 years, before that I was a 50-60 hour a week nurse; raising my 2 children and weighed a respectful 10 stone.
Alas after my disability started my weight shot up to a tremendous 14.5 stone but slowly with support of my new partner[ now hubby legally] I dropped down to my 11.5 stone weight.
Unfortunately my husband has become disabled with none- operable back damage and his weight is now excessive and is on a 100 daily cal diet- this is tremendously low but we both have movement problems.
The shocker is that when we cut out his treats[ a packet of chocolate biscuits ] - I only would have 2-4 low fat/diabetic gingers. We in fact ate less than that in a day as we found that we could only eat in the early afternoon.
No matter what life throws at us never give up - I had a fantastic teacher my father who had both lower legs amputated at 70 but afterwards went on to help found a disabled drivers club and represent the disabled locally and nationally. He told me that if you have the will-power you can get a lot done. Good luck to all of you in you wishes.

Hi Everyone,

I'm Christine from VT. I'm new to Spark--just signed on yesterday and already amazed at the spririt of community!

I'm a single mom of an 8-yr-old boy, I work in Education and I'm in grad school. I decided recently to commit to losing about 20 pounds. I've tried a few diets over the years but I realized recently that I really just need to take responsiblity for how I eat. I know what is healthy eating and I know what is not healthy eating.

I'm really committed to thinking about what I eat, being prepared and not just horking down something because I forgot to pack food for the workday and now I'm starving. I mean seriously, I'm so committed to making sure my son eats healthy whole foods, there's really no excuse for me not to. This feels like a good and totally manageable start:)

Looking forward meeting everyone!

Hello!! I'm Teri, from Courtenay BC. I'm 20, married, and I have two amazing sons, ages 2 1/2 and 2 months. I am a SAHM, and looking for part-time work as well. I love horses, swimming, reading, learning new things, and spending time with my family. My mom told me about Spark People ages ago, and I finally made an account. I am ready to lose the weight I gained with my second pregnancy, and get my body back again! I also want to set a better example for my boys. I am really excited to meet everyone and work together to achieve our goals!

Hi, my name is Charisse. I am a 35 year old SAHM/very part time student. My kids are 7 and 4 and they have been keeping me very busy this summer running them around! I signed up with SP a few years ago, but never got really serious about it, but now I feel really ready. I would love to lose weight and have more energy to keep up with my kids!

I am a mother of my 7 year old daughter. I am a middle school mathematics teacher whom teaches grades 6,7 & 8th. I am really wanting to loose my weight to feel better about myself, live longer, be fit for my daughter, and reduce my risk of diabetes and other complications that come with PCOS, which I just got diagnosed with.

Hello everybody,

I have been reading through your introductions and am learning a lot about so many new SP. Welcome and/or welcome back.

Chefamanda and I have been trying to lend everyone a hand in getting settled in. There are some important elements to SP that will help you out. A key one is creating your own Spark Page. If you go to the top of this page and pull down the "community" menu and then click on "Spark Pages." when you open that up, if you click on "Edit your Spark Page," you will find a lot of info abut adding your weight loss ticker and photos and the like. Check that out, and if you need more help, please check with me or Amanda, and we will help you out more specifically.

I am so excited for you all. You will be finding out great things that will help you get started. Even if you have a big weight loss, this is the place to help you get going. I've been muddling through and am getting close to 100 pounds lost--which is a great thing to be happy about. The thing that I am most happy about is that I now exercise, and I do it every day. I go to the pool every day that it is open and I am walking (with my walker, but it is still walking.) I have changed from being someone who was wheelchair bound into someone who is pretty active. This has made me so happy and is a gift from SP that I never expected. So may memebers are finding a variety of gifts that they weren't expecting when they joined up here to "losr some weight." So I am excited for you because I believe that you are about to find so many gifts along this path.

Enjoy yourself and this site...Look around, ask questions, and get involved!!

Hi everyone,

My name is Teresa. I joined several days ago, just before I had a hugely jam-packed schedule which took me immediately away from the computer for several days. So, I'm just now getting around to my intro. I'm a 54 year old SAHM of a 14 year old teenaged girl. I'm 3 mos into a lifestyle change/weight loss plan. I've lost 33.5 lbs so far and have about 80 to go! I'm so glad I was given info on this online support community. It's always great to have like-minded supporters when you're trying to make difficult lifestyle changes. Onward and downward. emoticon

We have 3 dogs, OE, a Jack Russell terrier, Midnight, black lab mix, and my puppy Tobey Flash Fred Lafayette. Why the long name? We named him for basset hounds we know from a TV/movie LOL. He only gets called all names when he's in trouble emoticon !

My children keep me busy and range from 19-10 yrs old! Two sons Jamie 19 and Kevin 17, three daughters; Karen 17, Keriah(kera)14 and Julia 10! Yep Karen and Kevin are twins...

I work full time as an Admin Assistant as well as maintain all things at home and help the fam raise rabbits!

I think that it's time to take care of ME! I am tired of being overweight!! My goal is to become healthier and slim down by about 90 lbs!!

Hi I am DeAnna. I am joining spark people because I don't want to do this alone and I can't afford meeting and things for other programs.

I am 30 years old and just want to be healthy. I also want to prove to myself I can do this!!! FOR ME AND ONLY ME!!

I enjoy camping, movies, dining out, hanging with friends, and festivals.
For exercise I like walks, and today I am buying a bike. I also like my elliptical trainer, and my treadmill when I can't get outside. and my friend Jessica is going to get me into some zumba classes and water arobics when i have the money.

Welcome everyone! I just finished a Jillian Michaels workout for the first time, so let's see if my brain and hands will work. LOL
SparkPeople is full of great resources, including all the awesome members! If you haven't already, I encourage you to find a few teams that share your interests and start your SparkPage and add friends so you can encourage and motivate each other. Community is a huge part of why SP works.
You can explore the site by using the SparkPoints page. You can find it by clicking the View SparkPoints link near the top right of most pages on the site. You can also get to most everything from your Start Page. There is a link on how to get the most from your Start Page on the main team page under Links.
The nutrition tracker is great when you're starting out to get a true picture of what and how much you're eating. You can add your own foods by clicking the Add Food button on the top. If you want to use SP's Meal Plan, but you don't like the meal it's giving you, you can click on the Change botton on the right side of that meal.

Hi everyone, my name is Liesel. I'm 29 years old and have two young children (a 3-year-old and a 5-month-old). I also just opened my own solo law practice, so I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed and busy these days.

I had a SP account a while ago, but there was just too much going on in my life at the time and I wasn't ready to make getting healthy a priority. I'm definitely ready now! I've lost 15 pounds on my own and rejoined this site to help me get rid of the rest.

I have 64.5 pounds left to lose, which is overwhelming - so right now I'm just focusing on getting out of the 200s. Baby steps, right? I'm also trying to learn more about nutrition so that I can make better choices.

I look forward to getting to know everyone here!

September 2010 mini-goal: to complete all 30 days of the 30 Day Shred

August 2010 mini-goal: to get to 195 despite a month of food-centered activities (MISSED by half a pound - I made it to 195.5)

July 2010 mini-goal: to get out of the 200s! (MET! 198 as of August 1st!)

Hi everyone, my name is Lenna and I have a lot of weight to lose and many challenges to hurdle to get it off, I have had 2 major back surgeries in the last 9 months and have lost the feeling in my legs & most of my feet. I have joined weight watches and found water aerobics, lost nearly 9lbs in recent weeks and found a friend in aerobics who introduced me to this site. I am looking forward to adding this to my plan and hopefully finding some more positive buddies to help each other through to reach our goals!!

Hi, I'm Martha, and I live in Suffolk, Virginia, not far from Norfolk. I have been a teacher for 25 years in middle school, high school and college. I have been married for 19 years and have two gorgeous girls: 14 and 18. I have a pretty terrific life overall except for the fact that I am VERY unhappy with my weight. I am 46 (although I feel more like 26) and I am 35 pounds heavier than I used to be, which still wasn't terribly thin. I work very hard when the fall kicks in doing full and part time teaching along with mom stuff, so I eat on the run a lot and don't exercise. Many times, I don't even get to eat dinner until 9:30 at night because that is when I get home! I am hoping this plan is the permanent answer to my woes. I've dieted many times and lost weight but sooner or later always gained it back and then some. I need something that is easy and very flexible because I don't have time to cook specific meals all the time. Good luck to all of you because I know how hard this is! Martha emoticon

Hi, I'm Kim and I am from Campbell River, British Columbia. I was told about this web site from a friend. I am really excited about being apart of a group of people like myself who are trying to get healthy for all the right reasons. I need all the motivation I can get, short of having someone come into my house and physicaly carting me off to the gym. thanks in advance for being there for me and everyone else. emoticon

Hello everyone
I'm Angelica from California. I'm here because I'm trying to somehow find some motivation to lose 10-20 lbs or something close to that by the day of my wedding, it's coming too close and I'm freaking out!! (Aug. 2010), seems like every bride loses weight and I'm going the opposite way. :-(

Although I also want to try and get into a healthier & more active life style.

Hi everyone!

I'm PackRat, 31, living in the Southwestern US with dog and husband. Determined to buckle down and make some changes here too.

I've always been a pretty active person, mostly in the outdoors (hiking, climbing, backpacking). This year, I managed to break my ankle before the summer could even get underway, so I've basically spent the last four weeks feeling sorry for myself. Stupid ankle.

The real problem, though, is that I've spent the last six years on a weight-gain trend, substituting junk food & beer for more worthwhile endeavors. It's been getting to the point where it's starting to interfere with the activities I love.

I may not be able to hike this summer, but I can start on a journey to a healthier lifestyle. I look forward to getting there with all of you!

Hey everyone!

I am Angi. I am coming back to Spark after trying it on my own. Clearly, not so successful! But I am looking forward to focusing on my health.

I am 32, married, with a cat and no kids. I am a substitute teacher, so unemployed for the summer and looking to remedy that situation as soon as possible.

I have a goal of seeing 199 by September 30, 2010. I know with Spark and support, I can totally reach that goal.

Good Morning everyone! I've been w/SP for a couple days now. lol, still finding my way around the site.

My name is Shelly/Newfies1. I'm 44 yrs old & single. I share my home with 2 dogs, and a cat. I'm from So. California. I've been unemployed since Dec. 1st. After wallowing for awhile and getting more depressed I decided that enough is enough! While looking for a job there is no reason not to make getting in shape part of the process. Also we no longer refer to it as unemployed it is now known as the "extended vacation" ;0) While looking for a calorie counting site on the web I stumbled on this site. Yeah for me! emoticon

Hello, I'm Sarah, an Australian living in Austria. I have had weight issues since teenage years, but always managed to keep fairly fit...that is until I got married. My DH doesn't have a very healthy diet, and with all the chocolates and sweets around, I haven't been able to stop myself from stuffing my face. After my first pregnancy, I wasn't able to lose the weight, so now I've been stuck at 105kg for 2 years. I'm feeling very inspired after reading so many wonderful blog entries on Sparkpeople.
I teach English as a second language, have a 2 year old daughter, cat, dog, huge vegetable garden, love bike riding, reading and playing the cello.
Look forward to getting to know you all!

Hi, I'm Megan/ LaydeeMagpie
I'm in Tennessee and I'm 23. I'm single and have a 1 year old yellow lab pup. I work in a retail store!
I'm here because during college I managed to put on not only the freshman 15, but 25 additional pounds for a total of 160 pounds on my 5 foot 2 frame! I was pretty athletic, but that activity has greatly decreased. My BMI is very high, which is what has motivated me to lose the weight. My family has a history of Diabetes and high Cholesterol, and my parents are both overweight. I really don't want to follow in their footsteps, so I have to start now! I've been at this for a week now, I started last Wednesday, June 23, on a LA-Weightloss-esque plan of 6 small meals a day, watching my calories, and switching to a food plan based on fruits, veggies, lean proteins, and 64oz of water. Tomorrow morning is my first weigh-in and I'm excited!

Hello Everyone. My name is Tracy (NUBODY4LIFE) and I just joined SP today. I am a 44 year old mom of one very active 16 year old son. I am originally from New Orleans living in Slidell, LA. I am an owner/operator of a 71 passenger school bus. I am also an Independent Team Beachbody Coach. My daily routine consist of working out 6 days a week, continuous learning and maintaining "clean eating" habits. I struggle daily with high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. This is my constant motivation to a healthier lifestyle. As my journey progresses my goals are to lose 62lbs in one year, establish a healthy lifestyle and build awareness, support, and motivation to reduce the ongoing trend of obesity in America on friend at a time.

Hi everyone,
I joined yesterday and have been getting acquainted with the site. I'm 31 and working on getting my MBA. Since I went back to school I have gained around 50 pounds. Mainly because I am eating on the run, making bad choices and haven't cooked for myself since I started. I'm nearing the end of my degree and am ready to make a change.
I live in Pittsburgh, PA and have a new puppy named Paco, he's a Doxie & his adorable pic is posted on my page.
Thanks!
Megan

Hi Sylvia, I was wondering on the nutrition plan is there away to add the foods I eat with the nutritional values? I noticed at the bottom add a food. Is that where you put it? You are truly an inspiration. I am so excited, I finally feel like I can make this a lifestyle change and not just a another diet that I want stick to. Thanks, Candy

Hello, I am Kathy, from Ithaca, NY. I'm 40 years old and this is my first day on SparkPeople.com. I have always had a weight issue. I've even gone as far as talking to a surgeon about weight loss surgery. But I just don't think that is the course for me. I know it would be a quick fix, but would it really last? I don't think it would. So, today I begin the rest of my life, with the help of this website and the community forums, and maybe by March of next year, I will meet my weight loss goal. Oh, I am a single mom with 4 sons.

I am 39 years old, have a wonderful husband of almost 10 years(August 19), 3 boys, Alex 18, Jacob 12, and Chuck 11. The hard thing for me is that I don't see the weight like most people (I say to myself, Hey you look good) and my husband likes a big woman. However, when I really look at myself in the mirror or weigh I know that I am overweight. I am ready to change that!

Hi my name is Mary. I am new to SP and from what I've seen & read on the site "am really loving it"! I'm from Red Springs, NC. I am a 39 year old Army wife and have 3 boys (12, 4, 1). I've been a homemaker since the birth of my second son. I have been married for 13 years. Over the years I have been trying to lose weight and would simply give up after a period of time of not seeing any results. I am now at the realization that I am NOT getting any younger and I do want to be around to watch my boys grow up. I started going to a local fitness center about 4 months ago. I am consistent about going anywhere from 4 to 5 days a week. Most days I dread going, but after getting there I feel really good! I try to eat healthy for the most part and strongly encourage my husband and boys to do likewise. Looking forward to this life changing experience and possibly getting to know some of my team members.

Hello to my team - I wanted to introduce myself. I live in the UK, I am 44 and was widowed last year. Since then life has not been fantastic and I have comfort eaten, and gone from large to larger. This has got to stop. I got myself a golden retriever puppy last year and walk him for at least an hour everyday, but have still managed to put on weight.

I am looking forward to eating more healthy diet and reaping all the associated benefits!

Hi, I'm Bianca (SCULLYKIDS) from Northern Alabama. I'm a 32 year old mother of 6. I stay at home with the kiddies and homeschool. I am also a huge yoga fan. I am here because I changed our life style for a very healthy approach and my lovely husband started dropping a TON of weight, but I didn't lose any. So I thought I needed some support and to take a harder look at how we are living. I am also trying to move closer to a Vegan life.

Hi,

My name is Kewanna and I live near Raleigh also. Welcome to the spark. I love this website and have lost weight with it. It really is a positive approach to weight loss as long as we stick to it. Which we can. :) It has been so hot down here. Anyways, nice to meet you and hope we can chat sometime.

Hi everyone. I'm Adz, i'm 23 from London, England. I have to admit, this is my 2nd time joining Spark. I just wasn't ready last time, and feel off after about 2 weeks. But something has changed in me now. I really feel it. I'm sick of being embarrased about my body. I really feel I can do it this time. I look forward to meeting you all along the way, and getting motivation from you all.

Hello everyone, my name is Casey and I'm from Australia, somehow I managed to stumble across SparkPeople on the internet and I'm glad I did because it seems like it has helped alot of people become healthy. I'm 20, in my final year of university/college. I'm basically here because, from the stress of uni and other things, I've put on more weight than I would have liked. I would like to graduate at the end of this year at the weight I was or less than when I began, so that I can go into the "real world" confident, with nothing holding me back, good luck to everyone!

Hi everyone. My name is Nancy. I'm brand new to spark today, and I'm really excited about this awesome tool to help me lose weight! I'm trying to lose the 60 lbs. I've accumulated from 2 pregnancies in 2 years. I'm 25, been married 4 years, and as I already said, have 2 kids under 2. My son is 21 months, and my daughter is 4 months. I wish that taking care of them is enough to help me lose the weight, but unfortunately for me, it's not.
I'm so glad to have support. I'll be thinking of you all as we start this journey together!

Hi!
I'm about to be a college senior, but I am living at home this summer. I'm 5'10" and currently weigh 176. I weighed 183 when I got home from school in May so I have already lost 7 pounds, but I have gotten off track in the past couple weeks with family parties and seeing my friends. My goal is 158-160. I don't have problems with exercising, I work out almost everyday and enjoy running and weight training. My problem is with snacking! I was doing pretty well, eating about 1700 calories/day but have not been keeping track of what I've been eating the past two weeks, so I am back to writing down everything, and I've heard that sparkpeople has a great food database for calorie counting, so that's why I joined!

Welcome to all of you new and returning SP, Gina, Amy, Melissa, Nicole, and LegalSecretary. Each of you are here for your own reasons and that is typical--health, weddings, fitnes, a marathon, children, clothing, etc...From my perspective, itis the fact that we'd like to improve our weight that has gotten us togehter, but if you make a friend with a common reason, you might be able to help each other even more effectively. I am honored to be here to welcome eachof you and I encourage you to come to our page at least once a day. Please "huddle" here daily and post on some of the other threads available. This group is growing by eaps and bounds and we willneed to work together to help everyone out.
Best wishes to each and every one of you as you establisjh your personal goals and get started on your own personal plan and SparkPage. The more time that you have available to explore and get information at the beginning of your program will help you to undertand things better and to be motivated as well. that will help you to have a more successful and permanent weight loss.

Take care,
Sylvia

Hello My Name is Gina and I am from Noblesville Indiana. I joined SP today for the first time. I am however not new to weight loss. I am 42 and I am single with no children. I started my journey when I was 17 had tried many different plans, money wasted, I have even gone as far as to having bariatric surgery. I am trying this approach this time because I figure what have I got to loose but pounds...I hope to get a support system here that I haven't been able to find elsewhere.

Hey all! I am NewLadyGypsy but you can call me Amy. I used SP about 18 months ago and loved it. Life got in the way but I have found my way back. I am 25 and live in upstate NY. No kids, no pets and I am a vegetarian. I too work at a call center but I love my job (they provide free catered lunch which is a huge plus!)

Anyways, I recently ended things with my boyfriend of 5 years so I have decided it is now time to focus on me. I mainly want to get healthy. Plus, I have 4 (possibly 5) weddings coming up within the next 14 months so I will be using that as a motivator. On top of that my niece and nephew are 4 years old (twins) and I want to be able to run around with them and not get winded quickly. They are my world and I want to be a good example sooner rather than later.

My name is Nicole/ NicCanDance
I am located in Staunton, VA and I'm 31 years old, turning 32 in September.
Currently I'm single and hoping to date at some point. It's not easy in a small town and at my age it seems like everyone is already married!
I work at a call center, which is a pretty horrible job :-(
I have a male yorkie named Remus who is such a ham. He's absolutely wonderful.
My hobbies include sewing, reading, writing, movies, and yoga.
I'm here today because I just came back from vacation in Florida and couldn't ride Flight of the Forbidden Journey at Universal Studios because of my weight. Plus, seeing myself in pictures reminded me of the promises I made to myself that I have yet to keep.
I want to be 140 pounds by the summer of next year. I'd like to lose enough weight by December to return to Florida and ride Flight of the Forbidden Journey.
I was diagonsed with PCOS about a month ago, which put my weight loss woes into perspective. My fitness regime and diet may seem pretty strict but it's what my doctor and I feel will get me results, and I am wholly committed to it.

Hi, I'm sort of new. I had a Sparkpeople account a few years ago, did well for a while, got off track and gained the weight back, and canceled my account because I thought I just couldn't do it. I'm giving it another try. This time, my goal is to not give up.

Age: 54 years
Family: just me and my hubby
Occupation: Legal secretary!
Hobbies: when I have time, crafts such as knitting, crocheting, cross stitching, sewing; playing piano
What brought me here: I've done Weight Watchers, but my weight has gone back up. Sparkpeople was free!

Hi! I'm Amanda, your Team co-leader! Welcome to SparkPeople!

I'm ENUFF81020, my name is Sylvia. (My user name is a long tradition with me due to a problem with AOL a long time ago!)
Your location-I'm from a "village" called Milan in Western IL
Your age--I'm 54
Your family--I live with my husband and 7 of our 8 kids. Our oldest son Matthew is 28 and has an apartment. We also have Mitchell, 25; Megan, just turned 22; Marshall soon to be 21; Miles, 19; Mason, 18; Marissa. 14, and Micah, 12 who still live with us.
Your occupation--I am a title 1 Reading Teacher in a brand new elementary school.
Your pets--We have 4 dogs--Lady, 7 and Chloe, 15--basset hounds, Frankie, 7--a pug, and Scooter, 6 a "doxielab." We have several cats and 2 kittens that we have rescued from around our rural home. We have a bunny, guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, a rat, and at any given time other critters that the kids have found and added to our little zoo.
Your hobbies--I read, crochet, do puzzles like crosswords and sudoku, play games and cards with the kids, and go to the pool every day unless it is closed.
What brought you here--My health issues brought me here and my success in the 2 ears I have been here has kept me here.
Your goals if you have determined them already--By the end of summer, I am going to be steady enough on my feet to be able to walk my wonderful bassets and I am planning to dance with my husband without hanging on to my walker and furniture to keep me upright.
Anything special--I have chronic osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia, and have had over 30 significant surgeries in the last ten years, most of them related to my OA. More recently, I have had 3 knee replacements and 2 significant back surgeries, My knees are doing well, but my back can render me pretty disabled from time to time. I exercise in the pool where I can walk unassisted, do cardio, and strengthen myself. I love the pool and have went from being wheelchair bound to walking with my walker this year as a result of my pool work.
I think everything else is in my signature.
