I have the Alta HR. and if you are pushing a grocery cart, wheelchair or baby carriage, the Alta will not pick up the steps. You arm has to freely swing to pick up the steps. I add that as exercise. I work out in the water a lot because of a knee replacement and degenerative disc disease, that has to be added as exercise.

I don't add thinks Fitbit sees as exercise minutes. Since I normally get more exercise the SP will count I don't worry to much about it. Walking the dogs 2 hours a day will do it. I wear my Charge 2 on my ankle.

On the bike, inside or outside, it counts the movement of one foot for steps and the whole exercise as elliptical.

Swimming. It isn't water proof

Weights the few steps I take between types of weights.

Rowing, One day I tried putting my Fitbit on every part of my body and never found a way it would count anything, Indoors or out.

Objects in the mirror will get thinner than they now appear

I don't add things that Fitbit tracks as steps, but some things it does NOT track, or underreports:

* rowing machine, my Surge does not pick up.
* road bike, my Surge regularly underreports steps
* swimming, I'm not even wearing the Fitbit
* strength training is a crap shoot... so I do add it.

hi all. hope i'm doing this right? new topic to introduce myself? love fit bit - on my second one - charge 2.

question - seems silly but i want to get this right - do i track elliptical (or any excercise?) on SP if my tracker is already tracking it as steps? i don't think so...

maybe i need to get better at tracking excercise on fitbit and not just using it as a step counter...does that translate to SP?
